Butter Smiths El Paso Reviews
Service always exceptional, well kept both dinning area and restrooms. Breakfast never disappoints, fairly priced.
We went here with our baby for the first time. The service from the young waiter was superb. He was so sweet and so friendly. The food here was good, nothing extraordinary but your basic diner type food. However the staff was great. They have good pies and coffee.
Look I can't say enough about this restaurant. Yhe food is good . The service is good however at 7pm the cook staff had their long hair flying around as the cook. Not asking for much but can you please put a hair net on as per the health codes. Unfortunately in have been served food in this very restaurant with added fur in the plate. Wasn't nice then and if it happens again the health department reports aren't going to be good. On the other hand as I said the food I great and the whole place noce and clean.
I’d like to compliment the manager and staff. The food was great, the service was excellent, and the team works together with clear purpose to deliver! It'd been since we've encountered professionalism 🙌
Stopped on by for a late lunch(3pm) Our server, Chris was welcoming and very attentive kept our drinks full. We love that they have a senior’s menu at a great value. The chicken fried steak was delicious. The pancakes were warm and fluffy. To our surprise,We received a FREE slice of pie with our meal for their October special on a Wednesday. So yummy!
Decided to have Butter Smith after church. Reminded me of the old village in restaurants. Upon entering the establishment, it was busy and noisy, not a bad noise either. People were chatting and engaging. Our waiter was the best, very attentive and quick. Food came out rather quickly considering how busy it was. Having tasted village inn food, it was great. However this new make over and menu was the bomb! I really like how everything tasted. Tasted so great I forgot to take photos of my food. I highly suggest you give this restaurant a shot, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
Me and my boyfriend ate here for the first time and we didn't know what to expect, but it was overall a very great experience. We went around 11am, and it was packed. We sat at the bar area, and though our food took some time, we enjoyed the time and food. Our server was kind and very attentive as well. I got the grilled cheese (havarti cheese, basil (I believe), and tomatoes, with a side of tomato basil soup. I loved it - the grilled cheese was perfect along with the soup. I'm a big fan of soup, and this soup was great. It didn't taste like it came from a Campbells can. My boyfriend got the banana pancakes with bacon and hashbrowns. It was so good, we very thoroughly enjoyed our food. Our server was also so kind, that since I wasn't able to finish my drink (soda), he asked if I wanted a to-go cup. I was surprised! That's the to-go cup I have lifted up in my hand. Overall, 10/10 recommend, and we will definitely be back!
The family and I have been looking for a place to have breakfast/brunch for a while now. Let me just say we’re glad we chose this place. The smells from the kitchen to the pies displayed on the front counter was amazing. Warm and cozy atmosphere with lots of seating. Definitely worth it and we will be back soon!
A superb food and service experience. Breakfast was fantastic. Everything was fresh with large portions. Coffee was magnificent, bold but not bitter, shout out to 2Ten coffee! My server Sonia was so pleasant and friendly even at 6am and ensured food was cooked correctly and frequently checked on me. Offered their famous pie selection but I couldn’t decide so definitely a second trip is in order. Job well done by all staff!!!👏🎉😁

I purchased a lemon meringue pie for a family members birthday. Although I have to eat gluten-free and couldn't eat the pie, everyone who did raved about it. I wish they made gluten-free pies!
Rapid service \nGood food \nGreat customer service \nLove the pancakes \nAnd a hit cup of coffee
The food is consistently delicious along with the service. My favorite El Paso restaurant for sure for breakfast!!

This was our first time here and it was delightful. The employees were great and the food was delicious. The restaurant was very clean and comfortable. Would definitely recommend.

NO MILITARY DISCOUNT ⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔⛔💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸💸 1/6/24 Update. Visited for a quick breakfast after a Dr apt. Breakfast was good. Still no military discount 😞 Took dad to dinner at a relaxed diner. The restaurant was not very full and we got a booth pretty quickly. The service was pretty good, not great. I decided to have breakfast for dinner and selected the Nashville omelet with pancakes. The omelet was very good with bacon and gravy. Dad decided on the salmon with mashed potatoes, which he liked very much. My wife chose the margarita grilled cheese. This was very tasty and was toasted with a waffle iron. My son selected the cheese burger which he liked. The entire family helped him eat his french fries which were very good. We added a side of onion rings and shared them as well. Overall the food was great and we were too full to try one of the awesome pies they have. Overall a good meal for 4 for around $50.00
Update: The Margherita Grilled Cheese with Tomato Soup is delicious!!! Butter Smith was very good. It’s basically Village Inn’s more fancy older sister. The atmosphere is great with a fresh retro theme and decor. Absolutely love the old school counter that looks into the open kitchen. Service was friendly and attentive. Tables were clean but floor needed sweeping between customers. It was a little turnoff seeing the dirty floors. The food was great. I had the PB&J Pancakes and my husband had the Ultimate Breakfast. I also really enjoyed having an option to get Mango Juice. It’s not often that restaurants offer any juices other than OJ & Apple. Definitely like coming here but hope that it would be a cleaner.

The food was decent but the service was better. I really wish I could remember my waitress name. I ordered French toast with eggs and bacon. My wife ordered the banana foster pancakes with eggs and bacon. My son got the smiley face pancakes with bacon and fruit. I did notice that the manager stopped at the table next to us and asked if everything was ok. And never stopped by ours. This place kinda reminds me of Village Inn.
The last couple of visits have been horrible on service, reason why we won’t be back. This past Saturday was the last straw. First, I got my food before I even gotten the coffee i ordered. Last, the silverware was dirty. I mean the forks and knives had butter smeared on them. And one of the tissues used to wrap my silverware had a dry bloody booger on the inside. It was gross. Try to get the managers attention but he was just a deer in the headlights.
We were interested when this place first opened, especially since it replaced a classic like village inn. The food is similar, but more focus on fried items. They serve alcohol, so if that is your thing this is your place. They also added in a lot of TVs, I'm assuming to accommodate sports fans and boost alcohol revenue. It is louder than village in was. As far as food quality, I was unimpressed. The last time we were there, the fried stuff tasted like the fry oil was really old. Overall, I'd prefer hunting down a village inn. Not being a fan of drinking, I really didn't appreciate the environment.
Nice atmosphere, my friends biscuit was hard as a rock otherwise the food was good. Service really needs help, our waiter only showed up to deliver our food and failed to check on our table of six. We were missing utensils and our glasses were empty. Keep in mind the restaurant was mostly empty and I could see him talking and laughing in the kitchen.
We took our uncle and aunt there for their 40's anniversary. I presented my dog's service card to the host at check in. After we sat down, ordered and served with drinks, the manager kicked us out.…
At first I was excited to try this restaurant. Twenty-two minutes after being seated no one came to take my order (not even a drink). While tables near me were being severed and checked out. The place wasn’t busy only three tables were occupied on my side of the restaurant. Staff continued to stand around and talk amongst each other. When I left I handed the staff at the front my menu and got an extremely fake I’m sorry.
Went here with my grandmother and the food was average, mostly bland. The service was awful. Had to interrupt conversations to order the meal. I asked for a different topping for my pancakes, but it took a few reminders til it actually arrived. I had asked for a BLT to go when we originally ordered and once we were finished eating I asked about it but the waitress completely forgot so we had to sit and wait for 20 minutes for them to get that. Finally it came along with the check so I went to pay the check. Stood waiting to pay at the counter for 10 more minutes. Was ignored by some staff, finally a bus boy came to cash me out. This bus boy was better then the waitress, as he brought drinks in the beginning. I should've given him the tip.
Disappointing birthday visit — poor service and sanitation. My daughter chose this restaurant for her birthday to try the mimosas. While coffee and water were served promptly and our server had a good sense of humor, the overall experience was very poor. • The mimosas were only delivered after asking three separate times and speaking to two different staff members. • Our food arrived in a timely manner, but portions were small for the price, the dishes lacked flavor, and the chicken-fried steak was excessively breaded. • Midway through the meal we poured our mimosas and noticed lipstick marks on one guest’s glass — clearly unsanitized. The glass was replaced, but only reluctantly. • Another guest ordered menudo and found a strange pinto bean in her bowl, which was off-putting and grossed her out. • When we finished and went to pay, the cashier walked away as we approached the register and we waited before I finally asked to speak with the manager. The manager offered a partial credit; I declined and paid the bill. The restaurant was not busy, and the lack of teamwork and apparent indifference from employees was disappointing. The server was acceptable, but could have done more to make things go smoothly. I informed the manager of the issues; however, the overall combination of sanitation concerns, poor food quality, and inattentive staff means I will not return.
