City Tacos Encinitas Reviews
I went to City Tacos yesterday and was able to DINE IN. Make sure to wear your face mask when ordering or walking around the restaurant! This was my first time at any City Tacos, so I ordered the Mexicali, Pescado, and Camaron Enchilado Tacos. I also redeemed my check-in offer and got a free corn quesadilla! The Mexicali was delightful! The fresh flour tortilla, potato, beef, and guacamole were a beautiful combo that made the taco my favorite from the ones I ordered. The Pescado taco was refreshing, crispy, and had great flavor. I like putting the pineapple salsa on the Pescado taco to add more of a sweet balance to the taco. The camaron enchilado was good. I definitely think pan fried shrimp would go better for the flavor profile, but it was tasty nonetheless. The corn quesadilla was fresh and the tortilla was handmade. I definitely enjoyed my experience at City Tacos and look forward to coming back to try the various selection of tacos!
Surprisingly delicious quesabirria tacos, the spicy sauce makes it. Hubby thought the fish taco was better than the shrimp. Churros we're hot and yummy. Will definitely be back! Also, the service was phenomenal. So friendly, and he explained the menu in detail, as we were first-timers.
The girl at the counter wasn't having a great day because she was very unpleasant. We were riding our bikes along the coast and wanted a snack so we ordered guacamole and chips along with a beer and Bucha. The guac was good as were the chips. We Sat on the patio and enjoyed the rest. The restaurant needs some love. The cleanliness is lacking and it needs a refresher overall.
This is one of my favorite taco places in all of north county. The tacos are filling and flavorful, the staff is friendly and always happy to offer a suggestion on a new option to try, and the patio is friendly to dogs! My go-to place to bring out of town guests. Would highly recommend!!
On basically my taco tour of San Diego, this is up there. Maybe the best or tied with waves taco club downtown. I tried the grilled fish, birria, one with a taquito inside, and the ground pork w pineapple. All were super delicious with generous portions of meat as well as sauce and toppings. Their beans with pork were also delish and the chips were obviously made in house. Would definitely return. Want to try the whole menu. Friendly service and plenty of places to sit inside or outside!
This is a true great find! Great tasting authentic tacos but most of all the service is extremely friendly and accommodating! Also for those of you pet lovers they are dog friendly so you can sit with your pet in their patio and enjoy your meal! Delicious tacos 🌮 and quality meat and seafood! Overall 4.8/5 Cleanliness 4/5 (Restroom could be a little cleaner but respectable) Quality 5/5 Service 5/5 Highly recommend you all try it if you are in town!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ City Tacos is a must-visit if you’re in San Diego! They truly have the best tacos in town. Every bite is savory, delicious, and incredibly satisfying. The tacos are generously filled with the perfect amount of ingredients. No regrets here—I’ll just work out tomorrow! The location is easy to spot from the street, with plenty of parking in the plaza. There are ample tables both inside and outdoors, so you can always find a comfortable spot. It’s my best friend’s and my favorite spot, especially because we can bring our fur babies and enjoy the beautiful San Diego weather. Highly recommended!
My wife and I go here all the time. There is decent seating inside and out and it's also dog friendly. And of course you can get beer with your tacos! 🙂 The Mexicali is arguably one of the best tacos they sell. I also really like the crispy shrimp taco! My photo is the Mexicali. If you haven't been here yet, you're missing out!
In an effort the leave an 200 character review. I ordered a carnitas taco and a Mexicali taco. Both were amazing 🤩. I rate taco shops for fun and I would highly recommend this place. The salsa was also fresh and tasty. Total score 9.25. There is room to improve into hand tossed tortillas. Other than that. So good. I'll be back for sure. Lager beer on tap was also good. I want to try fish tacos next time.
I really enjoyed two of the three tacos I've had here. The queso birria Taco was excellent and I really liked the Mexicali, the mashed potatoes were different but appealing. The chicken taco was a little gamey and just didn't hit right with me. Everyone is super friendly though and the prices are reasonable especially for the area. Just don't get the chicken but everything else is rad!
I've been coming here for years for dinner, both eating in and take-away. I generally got the Cocito Californiano with a meat. It's like a burrito in a cheese crusted spinach wrap. This week we went in and it's no longer on the menu. Also no burrito or anything similar to replace it. Just little taco's. So we left and ate elsewhere. Can't see why I'd return. I don't understand why they'd do this. Can you really pay the rent just selling small tacos?
pls fire the big lady with red lipstick that works the front at ur Encinitas location. She's super unfriendly and very rude. i would give u guys a 10/10 rating but every time i have her take my order i end up feeling her negative miserable energy and it almost makes ur 10/10 tacos taste like a bitter 1/10 taco. Pls fire her.
Disappointed in this place. Tacos were sloppy, and so many things wrong with them. Taco with carnitas was topped with stale chewy chicharron bits, had a giant lump of meat in the middle, not evenly distributed at all, and soggy middle tortilla that was weirdly air fried dry on the edges. Quesabirria taco was so bad- a soggy cold mess. Cheese was melted but cold, meat flavor was good, no consomé, and soggy tortilla. Scallop taco was gross canned scallop meat. Served cold. Chicken taco was ok but was cold. Ranchero beans were ok, would have been good if they were not cold. Salsa bar was the weird too. There was a chart with colors, red through green, and the name of the salsa that corresponded to the color- so it said "yellow=mango habanero". Then there were big 1 liter squeeze bottles filled with salsa....all unlabeled. So you had to guess and try to color match the bottle to which salsa might be inside. So dumb. I would never go back and waste money here. I don't see how this place stays in business.
