Sushi Lounge Encinitas Reviews
The server was amazing. Very understanding of celiac and it sounds like they take it very seriously. She explained to me they use separate utensils and very familiar with what is needed to keep celiacs safe. She said she’s worked there 10 years and no one has got sick on her watch. Sushi was very tasty. Didn’t feel sick after eating here. Would throughly recommend to celiacs!
Great rolls. Fish is always very fresh. They have a good happy hour. Service is always friendly. Our favorite rolls are Red Dragon, Tasmanian Devil, Albacore Special which are 16-19 bucks each . I believe they have the Chronic Roll on special on Mondays for 1/2 off.
So nice I came here twice! The staff made great suggestions. Chef's choice for my sushi dinner was chefs kiss. Every bite was tender and delicious 😋
Sushi at a strip mall? I was skeptical at first, but this is one of the best area Japanese restaurants we've been to, and we've tried about 50% of the menu so far. Service has always been great; authentic, delicious food and generous servings. I've taken quite a few friends here who were also skeptical of the idea and they are now converts too. I left one star off for atmosphere partly because it's not a beautiful exterior, but mainly because it can be a little noisy if the restaurant is completely full, but it's actually a comfortable atmosphere inside and most of the time easy to have a conversation while eating. Because it's at the end of the strip mall, there's usually ample parking even when busy. They also appear to have a busy takeout service, which we tried one time and delivery was fast and packaged really well, so would not hesitate to order delivery again either. Enjoy!
Ordered sushi to go and it was DELICIOUS!! I loved being able to get quality sushi for such a low price compared to other places in the area.
Friendly staff, good recommendations and the food was amazing! 😋
Oh my goodness this place is magical. I sat at the bar. I didn’t catch the bartender’s name but they were amazing. I came in tonight around 7 had the green monster, miso soup and a glass of plum wine. Everything was IT. Thank you so much.
I was so surprised by the quality and service of this restaurant. The fish was SO fresh and the flavor combinations of the specialty rolls were unreal. I personally loved the Chuck Norris roll. You can’t go wrong trying anything, and the servers were so nice giving us recommendations. Try this spot out in person or grab some takeout!!
I didn’t know what to think because this restaurant is a little hidden in this shopping center. The place is cute, the staff are friendly, and the food was delicious! I recommend their miso soup, nori fries, green monster and lounge lizard roll! This place was bomb!
Sushi Lounge is a must-visit for sushi lovers! The menu offers an incredible mix of creative rolls and fresh sashimi, but what really stands out is the attention to detail in every dish. The fish was melt-in-your-mouth fresh, and the balance of flavors in their signature rolls was perfection. The vibe is modern and inviting, making it the perfect spot for a casual dinner or a celebratory night out. The staff was attentive and friendly, adding to the experience. Sushi Lounge doesn’t just serve sushi—it serves an experience you’ll crave again and again!
This is one of the best sushi spots in North County. !
We love sushi lounge! They have great rolls, a fantastic happy hour menu and the very genuine staff! We have yet to experience having to wait too long for a table or food. Highly recommend!
The server Zack was extremely helpful the entire time I was there with my family. I often eat a sushi lounge, so I decided to bring my family with me while they are here from out of state. Zack made sure my family and I had a great experience; from menu suggestions to common resolutions— Zack made it happen for us. The staff here at Sushi Lounge is focused on providing a great dining experience to every person they host and I absolutely recommend for anything from date-night to family-time!
Their roll of the month caught my attention when looking up a quick happy hour spot to eat not far from the ocean. El Chappo was as fitting a name as is the name of the restaurant. Big bold Mexican flavors topped with the decadent togarishi made this roll exquisitely satisfying and very filling! Although their roll of the month is not on happy hour, this particular roll was well worth 2 or 3 happy hour items just by itself. This place has a chill lounge atmosphere, exceptional service, and clean fresh delicious food! I definitely recommend it! I plan to return soon and definitely order from the happy hour menu!
This place is legit. Got the garlic edamame, crispy rice, chronic roll, por vida, sashimi, and rainbow roll. Garlic edamame - good with hint of cinnamon so different for sure. Crispy rice - delicious and spicy with jalapeños Chronic roll - really good and savory Por vida - amazingly refreshing and you are able to split it up with 1/2 with and 1/2 without Serrano peppers Sashimi - was pretty good but honestly I’ve had better Rainbow roll - standard but super fresh Service was tremendous from our waiter to the runner who explained which por vida rolls were spicy and the rolls came out super fast. Will be back.
Most of the sushi places I tried in Encinitas were fine, but definitely did not fulfill my craving. Whenever people want to get sushi in encinitas, this is the only place I recommend. The dishes are priced very fairly and their monday special of half off the chronic is amazing! The roll sizes are decent too. The highlight is definitely the appetizers though. I ordered most of them to try out and was surprised since they do small amazing differences in appetizers that are staples in most chain sushi restraunts. The shumai definitelt takes the cake. The sauce is so delicious. The service is always fast and friendly, even during the lunch or dinner rush. There is also tons of parking and is easy to access.
Conveniently arrive during their Happy Hour specials (see picture for the hours and specials) and had an assortment of different rolls. Some people are having unrealistic expectations for a 10 dollar roll of sushi; however everything was fresh, crisp, and savory. They had a wide selection of fresh seafood, like Geoduck, Sea Urchin, Otoro Tuna and more which was in their seasonal fresh chef menu, and might not be available whenever you visit. Highly recommend.
ALOHA! I just wanted give a shout out to our waitress! I forget her name, but lively lady with glasses! Mahalo for what you do! This Hawaiian appreciates you! 🤙🏾❣️
The service and quality of the sushi was wonderful. Our sushi chef was great and very skillful. Our Bento box was a lot bigger than I used to. Everything was worth the price.
This was delicious! I had the vegetarian option, called Double Crunch and it was really, really good.

Excellent quality and service. We came to the skate park and saw this place had good reviews. Don’t be fooled that it’s in a grocery store shopping center by the freeway. This is a great restaurant. The service was quick, friendly, and thorough. The fish is very fresh. We tried the toro nigiri, green monster, por vida, and shrimp tempura rolls. The price is are super reasonable. The toro was like butter. And the service was so prompt.
Great spot with reasonable Encinitas prices. Went with wife and kids and got a table right away. Tried the chefs sashimi sampler which was some prime pieces of fish. Never forget to complement with fresh chopped wasabi. If you like wasabi, I think you’ll love it freshly chopped!

Really solid mid tier sushi. Great for takeout/casual dining in. Not date-night worthy but definitely worth visiting!
Good for Happy Hour. Fish is fresh, rolls are inventive, atmosphere is casual and welcoming. Gets crowded on weekend evenings.
It was exactly what I wanted. We were in the area, searched sushi places and went with the best reviews. Not star ratings but reviews and they didn't disappoint. Really good sushi at good pricing.
Was out for a Sunday drive up the coast from my ho.e in North PB to my haunts where I lived in Encinitas and asked Google for BEST SUSHI OPEN FOR LUNCH and SUSHI LOUNGE came up 4.6 rated nearby ar Santa Fe Dr. And 1-5 & WOW! GRATEFUL for the recommendation! Great service, reasonable prices, good suggestions for lunch COMBO sushi meal was Unagi roll plus Cocomo roll with Miso Soup for $16.95 and Blackberry Jasmine Iced Green Tea for $3.00 so $21.50 & $4.00 tip $24.50 a great, tasty, relaxed, comfortable experience at the end of a Sunday Drive at the end of shopping Center easy to access off of the freeway in a community I enjoy going to and better yet there's one closer to me in Point Lo.a that I'll try next time on Rosecrans! Thanks, Sushi Lounge! Thanks, GOOGLE! Thanks for prior reviewers that left reviews that guided me here on a Sunday when I was looking for something new in a place I'd never been fir a craving I've had for awhile!
Good place for a nice meal. Very busy and loud. (I guess we showed up during happy hour or something). Food very nice presented and super tasty. Try "Ring of fire" if you like it spicy. Fried squid as a starter is a hit. Gyoza was okey, could have a bit more crunch to it. Over all, really good place. Service is really good, even when it's loyd and very busy. One strange thing though, TV over the sushi bar showing basket ball... feels a little bit off...and makes it even more "busy"/stressful.
I do recommend this place. They have a lot of different role selections that you wouldn't find at other sushi places around the area. If you like wasabi try their pickle wasabi salad it is really good.
I’m always looking for a good sushi joint. I found out that sushi lounge showed up on San Diego’s top list so I had to check them out! And especially that I now work at scripps and it’s just right down the street! There are a few out door seats that you cab sure at but I think they should add maybe heat lamps since it’s going to be getting colder soon (and I’m sure COVID isn’t going anywhere). I ordered off their lunch special (spicy tuna and crunch) I did feel that it was small rolls but it is also lunch. I also upgraded to the salad (which is totally worth $1) and their ahi tacos. Everything tasted delicious but nothing spectacular. I wasn’t awed by anything but I want to go back and try their specialty rolls.

We enjoy their gluten free sushi options! Very good sushi quality. Their specialty rolls are so/so but their quality of fish is great!

pretty mediocre overall. fake “krab” added to almost all sushi rolls, which seemed odd.
My friend and I were in the area, wanted to grab a quick lunch, saw this place tucked in the corner of the strip mall and thought to try. Atmosphere was OK, nothing special, bar in the front, seating in the middle and sushi bar at the end. Alejandro was our server. He was nice, friendly and attentive. We ordered a couple Sapporo and Sushi. We had Uni, Tuna Belly, Salmon, Smelt Eggs, Eel and Yellowtail Nigiri plus a Lunch special Roll Combo A + B. I couldn't put my finger on it, but the sushi was neither bad or good, just was sorta of blah tasting. Maybe blah like the presentation too. Atmosphere: OK. Food: OK. Service: very good.

Warm and friendly staff, very welcoming and my server was great about checking in with me without hovering. The location is clean and roomy for a strip mall restaurant. The only complaint I have is the sushi quality is not the best. Maybe the fancy rolls are better [per the other reviews I read], but I ordered a protein roll that listed the different types of fish it would include and I found that my favorite sashimi [Himachi] was barely represented in the roll.. which was overwhelmed with the other two fishes... this is not how a protein roll should be made...it should be equally balanced with each fish in the roll for balance. But that wasn't even the worst part... the flavor gave away the fact that the fish is NOT fresh. Thank Goodness for the ample amount of wasabi I was provided... no worries about illness, but I doubt I'll return to this location any time soon.

This was a mediocre experience. We got specialty rolls. Most of them were spicy but otherwise not flavorful. We were disappointed but still hungry so we gave the other entrees a chance. The noodle dish was horrible didn't even want to take it home.
Jan 21st, we had food missing from our to-go order. I immediately called the restaurant and spoke with the hostess, she assured me I would see the credit back on my card in a few days. I did not. I called the restaurant again on Jan 30th, and left a message. There was no return call. It's just 14 dollars, but come on. Is $14 worth losing a customer?

Went for take out New Year's Day and the food was not up to par at all. We got less food for the same price or more. This dressing on the salad was mostly vinegar, not Ginger. The amount of food just was not equal to what we've gotten previously. Very very disappointed. I feel one time of having a really bad meal. We will never go there again. 😭

Terrible hospitality. The guy behind the host stand was rude and clearly didn’t care about providing even basic service. No courtesy—just bad energy all around. Disappointing experience from the start.
This was objectively the worst sushi I’ve ever had. The house salad is made with a wilted spring mix and has a dressing with zero flavor. The rice is dry and unseasoned and that lack of effort clearly carried over to the sushi. Overall, an awful meal, and the server didn’t stay at the table long enough to even ask if the food was good or not. Extraordinarily disappointing experience but the beer was good! They somehow figured out how to make that okay.
We were so hungry that anything should have tasted good. Unfortunately the only good thing was the seafood salad. Perhaps the shrimp tempura was acceptable. We ordered 6 separate specialty rolls at 18 bucks a pop. Poor quality fish, warm temperature, bland flavors except jalapeños mouth burning spicy. They all tasted the same. Some were sloppy falling over. Then we ordered pork gyoza..still with freezer burn on it. Meh. And Japanese noodle dish with chicken which was so horrible it was inedible..dishwater comes to mind. 200 bucks worth of bad food. Ingredients are not high quality and where is the flavor? Hot is not a flavor! We ate outside on the edge of a parking lot by the freeway. Service was not good either. Needless to say we do not recommend this restaurant. I was surprised by the good reviews as we really kept trying to find something that we could eat. I hate wasting food.
I come here at least once a week, but the man with glasses (who must be the owner) always makes a deal about the sriracha, even when I ask for extra. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning because of this ongoing issue.
I had one of the most surreal, revolting experiences at this restaurant. I ordered takeout while I was with my wife in the delivery room across the street at the hospital. I went to pick it up, but only part of my order was ready. I asked the hostesses if I could eat something at a table while I waited for the rest of the food, thinking that was a fairly simple request. They insisted I could not, so I asked to speak to the manager. He said I could not eat any of my food there. I told him I could just eat the whole meal there. They could set me up as a dine-in guest. I told him I was going to leave a tip regardless for using the table, in case that might have been the reason he didn’t want me eating there. He refused. “If it’s a to-go order, you can’t eat it here.” I told him my wife was in labor, and I just needed to eat something before I headed back. I was waiting for the rest of the order anyway. No again. It was shocking. We had been at the hospital for 36 hours. I had barely slept. I hadn’t eaten in I don’t know how long. He didn’t care. Restaurant policy. At a moment in my life when I really needed the smallest gesture of human kindness, or at the very least acquiescence, I was met with the most casual, indifferent cruelty. The food was mediocre, but what would you expect when these are the types of people working there.
This place gets worse by the week. We were seated 25 past the 20 minutes we were told. Then rude and oh so busy waiter said he’d be “right back” to take our drinks/order and that took 17 minutes, finally showed back up like he was doing us a favor. Took our order with zero friendliness, and from that it took an additional 26 minutes to get drinks and edamame. Then food finally comes. 1 out of 4 things are a mess. I’m a regular, I know the food, always order the same and understand when they are busy. But today was rude, disrespectful and just out of control Get it together
We ordered on door dash fish just seemed old. It smelled super fishy and low quality and we got stomach aches. Soooo much rice on each roll probably good for kids to fill them up but not good quality don’t recommend, won’t eat there again. It won’t kill you but not good
Beware: They don’t respect their own hours will shut down as early as 30 minutes early or more if they feel like it. As someone who also works in food service I find this unprofessional and tacky.
