Fat Sal's Encino Reviews
Came in last week on a Sunday. Jose went above and beyond to make it an awesome experience. Gave great recommendations and was a pleasure throughout our whole time there. Would definitely be back for the food and excellent service.
This place is quick with your order, and very generous with portions. I usually always worry if one order is enough food since I eat like a wild bear, but this sun will have you laid out tummy full, I order the fat Buffalo nor blue cheese with gravy on the side. The gravy is a must!
Great food, good service, and great vibes. They have outdoor seating with misters💦 for when it is HOT. On that subject the employees have great talent🥴. Right on a corner block in Encino. They’re soda machines have more carbonation than Pellegrino 😎
Amazing food, amazing service! 10/10
First time here and I gotta say I love how the place looks, very modern urban. The design and everything in it. Love how the menu wall is clearly visible and big enough to read and as well as the merchandise wall. Had the Grilled Chicken Caesar wrap - so good! And I had the Mozzarella fries with gravy and I had to say im not a fan of it. Gravy was a little bland for me. Had to ask salt and pepper to add a little flavor. I have yet to try the rest of the sandwiches
first time here they are very helpful and the food It was amazing.
The atmosphere is pretty nice, the outside seating is great and there’s mist if it’s too hot outside for you. I ordered the pepperoni pizza burger, and I had never seen or heard of anything like it before. Whatever genius came up with this burger, keep doing what your doing. i don’t know how to explain it, but it was just great. It exceeded my expectations by a lot. The next time I am in LA I will be coming back.
You can never go wrong with a Fat Texas with extra BBQ sauce and extra cheese sticks. Yeah it's a little pricey but honestly for the quality and taste there's nothing like it. The shakes are amazing my go to is always the strawberry cheesecake milkshake. First taste and you're hooked for life.
Fat Sals is clean & fresh every single time 😎 I just love this Place the workers are friendly & very helpful 👌 By far the best in the Valley @ZOOBIE
Amazing sandwiches! Elite level onion rings!!
Hamed was great , my boyfriend ordered a sandwich he wasn’t so sure about and he ended up not enjoying it and Hamed who took our order asked us how everything was and , my bf being the shy guy he is didn’t say anything but I did because I want him to enjoy it, Hamed gladly got us a different sandwich and we were very happy . Also I suggest the #4 shake. Best shake on earth!
Great food! We got all vegan fixings: the fat falafel, the impossible burger and the vegan shake. All delicious! The Encino staff on Saturday night was super friendly and provided great service!
Fat sals is an experience! I’ve dined in plenty of times but in conclusion this is my go to late night snack , guaranteed better quality and freshness until 2am. I usually order depending what mood I’m in but great choices are the fat jerry or fat Texas if you want something crazy. But not going to lie they’re all crazy combos! I’ve been on the Fat tyger lately , I love the simplicity of it of ham cheese and honey mustard with the sal combo (mozz sticks, chicken fingers and fries). I also love their chili. It is a great pick to get by itself , I eat them with chips at the house but they’re great on fries too. Fat sals makin sandwiches ova here ! 🤌
Fat Sal's is one of my favorite sandwich shops in LA. I usually get the Fat Jerry, but the burgers are great too.. and you have to try a milkshake. I can't walk after, but it's so worth it. I've known the owner, Josh, for many years now. He's one of the nicest, most straight up guys I know and he's built an amazing place to eat and hang out with friends.
Fat Sals is absolutely amazing! Today i hd the Fat Hot Chick, probably my favorite sandwich here, yum! I’m so glad these guys are expanding and have grown to offer a unique, fun and unapologetically FATtening eating experience. Vibes and energy are always on point, they’re always playing good music and the service is quick, helpful, friendly and almost reminds me of a cool skate shop vibe except they serve bomb food. Excellent for those with the 4/20 munchies as well ✌️🍁🥪🍽🥖
The BREAD is amazing and all the fun menu items are top notch. Service cars and actually make sure you’re do okay and say thanks and good bye when you leave. Nice outside area and tvs perfect place for a great sandwich
Best hot sandwiches ever! Wish we had them in our town.
Jose was absolutely amazing! He was super helpful, sweet, cheerful, and went above and beyond to make sure me and my boyfriend had a great meal and time while we visited the store. Also the cooks that were working today in the back did a perfect job on the buffalo chicken fries. Overall, I definitely recommend coming to this store. I know I’ll be coming back more!
My boyfriend is vegan and I’m a carnivore and we love this place. The sandwiches are HUGE and packed with so much flavor. The buffalo not chicken fries are so bomb too! As a carnivore I get Down with these fries. They’re so bomb!
This place does not disappoint, ever! My go to spot! Especially when you're starving during the super late hours of the night since they close so late! I totally recommend their Beef Dip sandwich... so delicious!
Amazing sandwiches and burgers here!! I love the Fat Jerry!! Loaded with chicken tenders, mozz sticks, steak & cheese, fries and more!! All their grub is fire especially late night!! Karim is the man! He’s running this place on point. Definitely check this spot out next time you’re in Encino. Fat Sals have more locations throughout LA too.
I really like everything I ordered. Good price and tasty food. Great customer service. Cozy atmosphere.
The gentleman that rang me up and brought my food was super friendly and gave great information for my first visit. His recommendation (The Fat Texas) was a great choice to get me to most definitely return.
Love this place. Food is incredible and service is amazing. Chase tonight went out of his way to make sure everything was perfect. Great employee!!
Specialty sub spot. I had the Fat Jerry: thinly sliced ribeye, chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, fried egg, bacon, fries, mayo, and ketchup. It was delicious! It's a nice spot, with TV's, music, an outside seating area, and they serve beer. A must check out! I will definitely be coming back and trying a different sub.
After a long day my husband and me stopped to eat something on the way home so we stop in fat Sals deli there of the big sandwich with a steak inside and vegetables it’s crispy and it’s so delicious. And it’s easy to stop here because there is parking lot and we don’t need to looking for parking it’s on the way and it’s big there is some bar cons to sit outside you can sit inside to the place is clean and the good is food
Always get great service and food here. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Definitely a must try if you haven't yet.
Indulging but great! Definitely a special treat for a meal I wasn't sure when I saw all the things they put into it since this was my 1st time but I can tell you the ingredients tasted super fresh We ordered 2 sandwiches in split them and both were amazing. We got the Texas And the Jerry.. If your a meat eater I definitely say give this place a world honestly pricing is great as well I couldn't get a Jersey Mike sandwich for this price.
the food hits the spot! really tasty and flavorful I loved and plus there are big portions, only down sometimes you can wait up to 15-20 mins to get it done
My personal fave is the Fat Texas, best out of the three. The Fat Sal comes with a side of gravy that is used as a dip which was also good.
Fat sals is the BEST! I drive 45 min almost twice a month just to have their amazing food. Every time I go I have a wonderful pleasant experience. The employees are always amazing and polite. Their salted caramel Oreo shake is to die for, along with their Buffalo chicken fries. You must go try fat sals for something different and amazing! Thank you for the amazing food and environment!
"Hey! We're making sandwiches over here!" I saw that slogan on the side of the Hollywood location and knew that I had to try it out. I was elated when I saw the signs going up for this location. So if you haven't been, stop being so mean to yourself. Great food, great service, great atmosphere. And yeah, they're making sandwiches over here!
Fantastic place with a good variety of food. I enjoyed the fat Jerry, which had delightfully tender steak, crispy chicken fingers and fries, all seasoned perfectly to compliment eat bite! I'll definitely be going back again to try something new. The fat shake #4 with oreos was probably one of the best shakes I've had in a few years, so don't forget to get your shake on while you're there. If you're up for a challenge they've got 2 there, and best of luck with those! (Not my best photo below, but i was in a rush, and excited to try it. )
I ordered chili cheese fries. They are really good its hard to find good quality chili cheese fries for a reasonable price. Here you find both. Great portions enough for 2 great price and great flavor. 10 out of 10. Highly recommend trying them yourself.
Hi, interesting restaurants and atmosphere. Everything fresh food and friendly personal. Very clean. You can sit in restaurants or sit under a canopy outside. Food is prepared quickly. Thank you for good quality and friendly personal.
Jose and Dora Liz were fantastic. They took are order and helped us with the food selection. The food was delicious. I love their customer service. I don't know how this place got a 4.3 stars. I will definitely be back.
We love Fat Sal's. We go there for smash burgers mostly. I definitely haven't eaten every one, but of all the smash burgers I've had all over the city, Fat Sal's is to me the best. Lacey and crispy around the edge, American cheese as God intended on a smashburger, good bun and you can add lettuce and tomato if you want. Sometimes we'll get a loaded side of fries as well. The menu is full of delicious sounding, but a little over the top combinations of things piled up on a smashburger or a sandwich. I'd love to try them, but the regular smashburger is so delicious. They have a pastrami smashburger on the menu, but it has chicken tenders and a bunch of other stuff on it as well. I don't want all of that, I want a smashburger with griddled pastrami added to it, maybe some Swiss. The regular smashburger, maybe with an extra Patty added is the go-to for both of us. The staff working there all knows and recognizes us. They're very friendly, and very customer service oriented. They always want to make sure we have everything we need and that we're taken care of, they'll swing by the counter where we're eating to see if we need any more ketchup, napkins, etc. It's really next-level service for this kind of a fast casual. Lots of TVs up high on the walls showing whatever sports is on, plus a Fat Sal's Venice Beach skater video running on a loop. Recommend if you like a delicious smashburger in a cool low-key environment with great service. And who doesn't?
08/06/2025 This is the 3rd time I ate their sandwiches, twice here and once in the "Topanga Social" location (where I tried their sandwiches for the second time around). Their sandwiches are so good, service was great, and the location is in Ventura blvd and Balboa which is a rich and clean area. They're also open till past midnight (2:00 a.m.) so that's a plus! Update: 08/08/2025 I came back this afternoon from Glendale to try their milkshakes and I ordered "#1" Chocolate ice cream, peanut butter, marshmallow fluff, roasted peanuts, and sea salt. It was the best milkshake I've ever tried, making Denny's "chocolate shake" on the 2nd and Jamba juice's "Chocolate mood". on the 3rd rank on my top three best milk shakes "list".
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I recently had the pleasure of dining at Fat Sal's, and it was an unforgettable experience! I ordered the "Fat Jerry" sandwich, which is a glorious masterpiece packed with ribeye steak, chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, a fried egg, crisp bacon, grilled onions, melted American cheese, and fries. Each bite was a delightful explosion of flavors, and it truly lived up to the hype. The atmosphere of the restaurant is incredibly cool, with a great design that perfectly complements the laid-back vibe. It's the kind of place where you can easily relax with friends or enjoy a casual meal after a long day. While I did find the prices to be a bit on the high side, I can assure you that the food is absolutely worth every penny. The quality and taste are simply outstanding! The staff were also fantastic—super friendly and helpful, making the whole experience even better. If you're looking for delicious food in a fun setting, look no further than Fat Sal's. I can't wait to go back and try more of their amazing menu!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Fat Sal's, after years and I can't say enough good things about my experience. The **food** was absolutely fantastic! Each dish was bursting with flavor, and the portions were generous—perfect for satisfying any appetite. From their signature sandwiches to the delicious sides, everything was prepared to perfection. The **customer service** was equally impressive. The staff was friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed to care about making our visit enjoyable. They were quick to answer questions and made great recommendations. As for the ambiance, the place itself is nice and inviting, creating a perfect atmosphere for a casual meal with friends or family. In one word: **everything was great**! I highly recommend Fat Sal's to anyone looking for a delicious meal and a wonderful dining experience.
If you've never been here before, you've got to go. This is a sandwich shop on overload. In some sandwiches, they put whole mozzarella sticks in, and in others, french fries, Etc. I enjoyed their Fat Bahn-Miki. They also sell Fun desserts like red velvet and chocolate cookies. I don't drink soda normally, but they have one of those machines where you can customize your drink, so I had to make myself a lime ginger ale. The staff was super helpful, especially when it came to allergies. And the girl who rang me out had a fantastic smile. - #DowDoesReviews @derekddow on all socials.
Fat Sal's is great!! Such a nice big menu with plenty of delicious options! The portions are nice and big, everything is made fresh to order, and the shakes are a MUST try! The outdoor seating is amazing even on a warm/hot day because they have misters that help cool down the entire area but do not make anything feel wet or musty. They have outdoor tvs and they show the games which is great! The staff is great and they keep the entire restaurant nice and clean!
Fat Jerry / thin sliced ribeye steak, grilled onion, melted American, chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, crisp bacon, fried egg, fries, mayo, ketchup, salt & pepper on a hero - 5 🌟! Yes. All of that is on one sandwich and it is glorious. I have been a fan of Fat Sal's since they first opened in Encino. I live close to their Hollywood location but was out near their og location and felt a craving. I visit a few times a year and once even day dreamed about opening a franchise when I loved really far from a Fat Sal's. They have amazing burgers and smothered fries but I tend to grab their loaded heroes. They often have great limited time sandwiches and shakes which are worth checking out. Also, this is a Halloween tradition for me since they love to do an entire costume theme for their Hollywood location including a fully themed menu. My advice is to go in person and scarf it down as soon as they hand it to you. Freshly made is the way to go.
This place is super yummy. Pretty much anything you get is going to be good, and the staff is really friendly. I had the albacore salad and cheese fries, and it was so delicious. I also had the #3 shake, which comes with vanilla ice cream, shaved chocolate, toasted marshmallow, and graham cracker crumbs. Sooo yummy!! It can get really busy here, so I would suggest calling your order in, and then picking it up.
First time here, I'd heard a lot of great things about this place. I was super excited to try the sandwiches and the shakes!! I will definitely be coming back here! They have beautiful indoor/outdoor seating...meaning they have french door type and they open them, so it's like you are eating out side. Also it's loud they have sports playing on all televisions that cover all walls. so if you're looking for something romantic this would not be the place. But for a quick delicious bite and if you want to watch a game this place would be perfect. Hope to see you here :)

Super nice folks working there. Solid food, cleaning dining room, vegan options, and they even have beer.
Food excellent. Service fantastic. ambiance fun . Will highly recommend this place . My wife had the best veggie sandwich in her life . She's telling everyone.
The hot sandwiches are better than the cold sandwiches. You get a ton of food for your money. It is always fresh and tasty. The staff is really cool, very chill people that are courteous and kindhearted. The only thing they hate about the place is the music so loud You can't hear anything. Other than that it's pretty cool, I'd keep going
Just been the one time but overall very good. The sandwiches are big and therefore a bit more expensive. They have unconventional items stuffed into them such as whole fried mozzarella sticks and french fries and a variety of other tasty treats. The meats is flavorful and goes well with the bread. The onion rings were very good too. To justify the cost I really make it two meals by taking half home. Then again, everything is expensive right now, right? For me, it's probably on my 4 to 6 times a year list.
Stopped by while driving past Encino and got a Veggie burger. Just a heads up, they do offer the veggie patty that is not Impossible burger but it isn't posted on the menu wall. The Veggie patty was good and tots were super filling. I wish the cleanliness of the store was better maintained. There were a few staff members standing around chatting but we had to buss our own table before we could sit down.
I ventured in for lunch on a Thursday around noon. The staff was pleasant, and the restaurant was clean. I ordered the Pastrami Reuben combo with seasoned fries. It took about 8 mins to come out, and it smelled and looked delicious. It tasted great, I really enjoyed the sauce that came out with the seasoned fries. I finished my whole mean and I didn’t find any problems the taste. The only issue was the value. I spent $52 for two combos. For that price I’d expect double the food if I’m being honest. Back on the east coast I would pay $24 for two cheesesteaks/subs that were double the size and just as satisfying. I deduct 1 star for the lack of value. Other than that, it’s a solid choice for subs.
Fat sal's makes a pretty good hero. I ordered the turkey club and added pickles. The sandwich was huge, it was flavorful and they were generous with the toppings. Bread was also really good with the perfect amount of crunch to it. Will enjoy the other half tomorrow because half of it was more than enough for an entire meal. I'd go back!
The chili cheese fries could’ve been a meal on its own. Very tasty though and worth the button breaking on my pants. Fair warning:Come here with an appetite. The sandwiches seem to be stuck with the full meal all in between two slices of bread. Also, their milkshakes are very unique and very amazing, in my opinion there even worth you coming just for the shakes and that’s if you don’t have room for food. But if you’re feeling up for the challenge, they have a food challenge, but like every other food challenge it’s a lot of food and I believe it’s about $100, if you’re curious about the food challenge I posted on one of the pics on here.
My first time eating here. I heard the sandwiches are really good. Unfortunately I tried the smash burger. Didn't work for me. They put to much sauce for my liking. I also had a strawberry shake, Really good! Plan on spending close to $20.00 or $30.00 with a shake.
Great Philly Cheesesteak, def worth the drive from time to time. They would have got 5 Stars but the chubby big hair None Smiling Cashier Dude just straight out savage. he seems not happy working there.
After hearing so much about Fat Sal, I was finally able to try it out. Great Sandwiches, all filled to the brim with toppings. We got the Fat Sal, Fat Texas and Philly Cheese Steak. My personal fave is the Fat Texas, best out of the three. The Fat Sal comes with a side of gravy that is used as a dip which was also good. The Philly Cheese was nothing special, it was dry and overly salted.
I tried out the hamburger combo with the onion rings and paid almost $20 (normal beach prices). Good portion of onion rings, which were not freshly made, but still warm. The burger was a grilled patty on a plain bun--not bad, but not outstanding. I'd try the sandwiches. They do have a freestyle soda machine, so you can mix up your own flavor, which is a plus. Service is cheerful and quick, and the interior is tidy. They do serve a few beers/Truly. There are big screen TVs that I'm sure you can watch the game/fight on.

Food was ok, nothing special and the taste wasn’t that great. The employees are very friendly and provided great service, but the food is over-hyped and isn’t anything that special. Also the prices are kind of crazy for what you’re actually getting. Wouldn’t recommend this place, I’d look for another restaurant.
My first time there. I like Philly cheesesteak sandwich, so I ordered it along with a vanilla shake. And the sandwich had a bitter aftertaste, I’ve had better elsewhere. And the vanilla shake even though it was creamy and thick, also had awful aftertaste as if it was cheap ice cream. I can deal with all of that if the prices were less expensive. But really! $9.99 for a shake in a small to medium size cup! Unfortunately, I won’t be going back. It was lunchtime. And I paid around $28 and was asked to leave a tip.
I wanna love this place, I just don't. My husband enjoys it more than I do, so maybe it's just a personal preference. Anytime I've gotten a very novelty sandwich like "Fat Hot Chick" I have thought it was gross. Disgusting. Couldn't swallow one bite of it. And that's saying a lot for a fat kid like me. I have enjoyed their burgers and even their Philly cheesesteak sandwich. Stick to the classics is my best advice for here. But last trip just made me ugh. I stopped for a milkshake after a surgery as an "I survived " treat. I got one of the novelty shakes with Oreos and Carmel. I believe it was shake #4 . It was $11.99 I was very excited for my large, delicious shake. First, it took approximately 10-15 minutes to get this shake. It was not busy, so I was a bit saddened by this. But I thought, man, it must really be good for it to take this much prep! When it arrived, oh man, the disappointment. It was SO SMALL! Like truly reminded me of a happy meal drink size. How in the world can a 12 dollar shake be so small?! I looked over the menu and nowhere are the ounces listed. Sigh. I guess that's my fault? And the absolute heartbreaker was that it was 99% Vanilla ice cream. It had a few Oreos sprinkled on top. And one swirl of Carmel. Oh god. Food should not be this traumatic, but I was already having a bad day and this...man. I think I'm done coming here, but will likely be back if I'm dragged. The vibe is kinda cool. I love the music. Awesome hip-hop: Kendrick Lamar and Jay-Z were playing. But the bright bright lights don't really mesh with the cool vibe. Just seems a bit disjointed. Staff is cool. Friendly. Not in your face about it, which I prefer. I guess give this place a try, but get ready for hit or miss food at a large cost for the value.
Everything is nice, clean, and organized. However, the food is mass production. the baguette was chewy like rubber. It's not even close to being crunchy. feeling like the sandwich that was pre made and warmed up in the bag. french fries were cold. And overpriced for a sandwich. Yes, it's nice to see a full sandwich. I came here for dinner and honestly I loved the food, tasted really good and portions were filling.
Service - Excellent and friendly Atmosphere - Clean and spacious. The selfie station was neat. Taste - Mediocre. Price - The taste does not justify the price. Spent $112 for 3 burgers, 3 fries, and 2 shakes. (I'd rather spend my $ at shake shack) Quality - After a 10 min travel time, the burger and italian sandwich I took home was soggy. The burger was nothing special and you can get better Italian sandwhich at Jersey Mike's.
Ordered the Buffalo Chicken Cheese Fires it took about 10 minuets. My fries were soggy I would have liked it better if it was cooked for longer. I’ve been here three times now and it’s been getting worse every time. The Restaurant has a good idea behind it but it just doesn’t live up to my expectations of good greasy food from the east coast.
$25.00 for a just good enough bacon cheeseburger combo? $1.00 extra charge for requesting grilled onions instead of raw onions?! For that kind of upmarket pricing, one would expect their meal to have been first-class level. NOPE, it was not.
We all know every food establishment is charging more for less, but Fat Sal's really takes it to a new level. I'd heard it was overpriced and overrated, but I found out for myself last week when I ha…

I don't think I've given a restaurant 1 star, but this was just not good. I got a Fat Jerry. It was 80% fries, bread, and cheese sticks. And, nothing tasted even decent, especially considering the price. I tried my wife's vegan dish, and it was really bad. Everything was submerged in sauce and soggy. Would not recommend. Jersey Mike's or even Subway is like fine dining in comparison.
They prioritize spectacle over flavor. Everything I ate here was utterly dismal and disgusting in terms of taste. Save your money. They are just putting anything on a hero roll and calling it a "sandwich."
My wife & I ate at Fat Sal's, in Encino, today for the first time. We had high expectations as the reviews were fairly good. Both of us decided we would NEVER eat there again. The food reminded us of how inmates in prison throw together food with all kinds odd things inside, only with Sal's, the ingredients are slightly better. The food was VERY MUCH over-priced for the quality. The Buffalo chicken fries were barely cooked. I could tell what most of the ingredients were inside. Frank's red hot Buffalo sauce among a few others. In conclusion, the food appears and tastes poorly. I recommend to NOT waste your money at any location!
Came here to try their vegan falafel. We asked for extra tzatziki and they said they’d charge us, we said fine. There was none given to us. The fries were cold, and when we complained about it the man said ‘that’s just the way it is’. They even make you pay for hot sauce. Worst service and we are never coming back.
I used to come here religiously, was a loyal customer even through the pandemic when no one came, but now it is starting to suck. The food quality is decreasing, prices are skyrocketing, and all of a sudden they charge for asking for the sauce on the side when it comes with the item. When I complained to the greesy bearded manager, his response "times are changing" brushing me off. The wait takes way too long, busy or not and on top of that, while waiting for my food adjacent to the kitchen, no joke I saw three separate cocaroaches. Then I saw the manager scold an employee in front of other employees and customers, super un professional... Very dissapointed.
Totally disenchanted in the poor food quality, small portions, and abusive use of salt at off the chart prices. The Philly Cheese Steak sandwich was horrible. Besides being completely over salted and overpriced, it barely had any contents. A sandwich that both made me sick from the salt, but I felt completely ripped off. In one word "Trash". The excuse of a chocolate shake tasted "freezer burnt." I do not like leaving bad reviews, yet in this case, it is warranted.
