Chowder House Fairbanks Reviews
Delicious food- though we went for the pasta dishes … sadly that wasn’t an option for lunch, only after 3:30pm. We were on a 4pm flight home so 11:30 was the best we could do. Cozy spot with great service and great food. Lobster rolls looked amazing, though we got something else and the homemade desserts were yummy also!
Very fresh crab roll. Halibut corn chowder was delicious too!
Great food and it came quickly and fresh! I had the salmon sandwich and it was great. The salmon chowder was pretty good too.
This place was A-MAZ-ING. The portions here were huge but what made it so great was the creamy salmon delight. This is an item that is not on the menu yet so you have to ask for it by name. It was a bit pricey came in at about $38 if I'd known the price before I had ordered it I probably wouldn't have gotten it because I'm cheap. I am sooo glad I did. It was DELICIOUS. We are only up in Fairbanks for a few days but I will be going back before we leave for this amazing dish. If you order this dish tell the Melanie from Utah sent you. My husband got the chicken teriyaki bowl and it was really good especially with the extra sauce bowl that you can pour on it. It was so big he couldn't finish all I had to get a to-go box. I would highly highly recommend this spot if you're looking for good food.
Got some classic New England Clam Chowder and it was fantastic. Followed that up with some Alfredo and loved that as well. The wife and I are definitely going to come back and try more of the menu to see if everything is just as good.
Great little meal spot in Fairbanks! The food was amazing, cooked perfect with great taste. The salmon teriyaki was amazing and flavorful. The steak was cooked perfect, warm and juicy and spiced just right. The seafood alfredo was fresh, light, and delicious! Our service was quick and attentive to refills and our satisfaction, which was complete!
We've been so pleasantly surprised at the great food spots in Fairbanks, Alaska. We stopped for lunch here and our table for four each tried a different soup and to a person, they were flavorful, hearty and delicious. Our accompanying half sandwiches were fresh and exactingly made to order. The wait staff was very friendly, attentive and efficient. All in all, a great experience and worthy of a return visit - they'll be closing soon as the season comes to an end but perhaps we can sneak in one more visit before flying home!
The Chowder House is an excellent spot in Fairbanks for fresh and flavorful food. I ordered the salmon with rice and vegetables, and it was fantastic—perfectly seasoned, tender, and cooked just right. The portion was generous, the veggies were fresh, and everything came together with great flavor. Service was quick and friendly, and the atmosphere is casual and welcoming. Definitely a go-to place if you’re craving hearty, well-made seafood in Fairbanks.
Great clam chowder. The bowl is a big serving. If you're a big fan of crab rolls, this place won't disappoint. It says only a quarter pound but I'd argue that because I think it's a bunch more. It was a lot of crab. Nice atmosphere. Place was clean. Service was friendly but not over the top. Prices were fair for the area and food. It's a place I'd go back.
Chowder House is fantastic & a highlight to my recent Fairbanks visit. The Halibut Corn Chowder & Crab Roll were delicious! 👍 They are generous with the crab meat & i liked how the sauces were on the side so you can choose how you'd like to mix it. Indeed expensive, but considering how fresh the seafood is, i'd say it's worth every penny. Friendly & efficient staff. Would love to return! 💜
Smoked salmon chowder AMAZING!! Salmon sandwich so delicious and it's so nice to choose your bread and toppings! Milk shakes so delicious 😋. If you enjoy caramel...caramel flavored shake!! Staff very friendly and food came quickly. Highly recommend!! 5 stars! Prices best in town for Salmon.
A small little place where you can enjoy tasty chowder. This place did not disappoint with their chowder!! The food was delicious, the best thing to do is get a sandwich and chowder combo. I chose the crab sandwich in their baked croissants with a cup of their halibut and corn chowder. There are a variety of things to choose from and the menu they provide allows you to pick and choose what you want.
Garlic butter shrimp is so good! Crab roll is worth trying, but the crab meet could be less cold for a more balanced taste
I gave it a three. However, I did not try the chowder. Now I wish I would have. The crab roll was OK. I’ve had way better. Serve served on a cheap hotdog bun that became soggy from the wet lettuce. Disappointing. Large port ok crab. We also got crab Rangoon and some shrimp that was both deep fried and subpar. The potstickers were fine. With all that said the dessert was amazing. Chocolate cake was fantastic. Chocolate peanut butter pie was very good. Good service very friendly people. I guess if I ever go back, I’m gonna have to have the chowder hence the name chowder house.
You seat yourself. I had the smoked salmon chowder (which was served barely warm, although it had a good flavor) and a crab roll (which was very good, and it was a lot of food). The service on the other hand was cold at best. She didn't explain how you order (by filling out a form) or how you pay (you go to the counter and you need to know your table number) and spoke to me as little as possible. If I were to return it would be for carryout only.
Sandwiches and a few types of chowder. Prices are fair and service is friendly. My daughter raved about her ham sandwich and I enjoyed the salmon chowder but my husband wasn't very impressed. He was expecting bread bowls like the kind of chowder we get in California. The parking lot was packed so we had to park in overflow Parking across the street.
Ordered crab roll ($35), garden salad, and halibut chowder. Loved the chowder and the crab roll was decent, not sure it’s fresh considering how quickly they made it and quite overpriced. I’ve had lobster rolls for less. Salad was sad looking, basically lettuce with tomatoes - expected more variety of greens. Overall the food was decent, but a bit overpriced.
Cozy atmosphere and great service. The potstickers were super delicious! The Salmon Chowder and Clam Chowder were a little bland. The Sweet Chili Shrimp Wrap tasted great and had a good portion of shrimp, but way too much sauce and was soggy. The Chicken Avocado Wrap and Chicken Bacon Ranch Wrap were good.
Beef chili was good. Smoked salmon chowder was very bland. The least impressive I have had. My daughter also had to add salt and tobacco sauce to give character to the halibut corn chowder. There was also a 15% gratuity added to our party of two bill. You would expect that for a large group but not a party of 2. I missed that when I paid the bill and added a 15% tip. So 30% !!
