Amazing family owned and operated local diner. Food was delicious and staff were great. Stop in if in the area
Cute diner was the perfect stop on our way through town. Waitress and cook were super nice and quick. Lots of locals and we can see why they return. Just what we needed.
Small town Vermont, old school diner with amazing food. I had the local beef burger and it was delicious.
What a great find and what a great Reuben I had! They smoked the corn beef in House and it was fabulous. I had broccoli cheddar soup as well which is also homemade and was out of this world I got some to go, great spot highly recommended!
Brought a niece visiting from Australia and so glad I did. Delicious soup and grilled cheese and such nice folks!
I find comfort and my breakfast here regularly, usually for about $10, sometimes $15 to $20 if I add to my eggs or order an omelette. The staff tends to know most of the clients and serves everyone fairly. It's a small, local treasure which can have busier mornings and lunchtimes. It knows its cycles and meets most needs in friendly fashion.
Food was great, staff was welcoming, friendly and attentive. Loved that old time diner feel. I wish it was closer to my home I'd be a regular customer!!! Great omelet and sweet potato fries hit the spot!
Perfect and classic diner. The eggs Benedict were cooked to perfection. Highly recommend.
We had a group of 7 and we fit easily in one of the booths. All of the good was delicious. Our French Toast leftovers were still delicious when we reheated them 2 days later. We try to come at least once when we're on vacation every year and it's always fantastic.
We always stop in when we are camping down the street. Never have we had bad service or food. This morning was breakfast. I love that they have half orders of eggs benedict. Delicious beyond words. My husband had the garage special omelet. It was heaping full. The waitress was (as always) friendly and efficient. We will see you when we return. Maybe in the fall!
I eat breakfast here a couple times per week at the counter. They make my favorite eggs Benedict in the Upper Valley. The hollandaise is sometimes a bit broken, but it's real and even broken it's better tasting than most other diners. I don't favor when my eggs are too browned, and I tend to think the omelets I see go by are too browned for my liking (thus the poached egg choice as Benedict.)
Food was all homemade. I had wonderful chunky vegetable soup and the gluten free tuna melt ever. The atmosphere was pure diner, I could see a cliff across the street and all waitstaff were friendly. It will remain a pleasant snapshot in my mind and I will return next time I'm in the area. If you like a diner atmosphere this is the place to go!
We stopped at this quaint diner in Vermont on our road trip, and I am so happy we found this hidden gem. I recommend The Handler breakfast sandwich! It’s served on a Portuguese muffi and is absolutely worth trying. The service was excellent and the ladies were so friendly. Looking forward to making this a permanent stop anytime we pass through Vermont.
The food was ok. The service was ok too. Didn't provide napkins. Had to ask for those. Ordered beyond burger. Came with potato chips on the side . The bun was ok. The party was store bought. Breakfast closes at 11.
Food was mediocre... definitely not the best breakfast I've ever had by a long shot. The waitress forgot to put in my order so I had to wait longer for my food. Ehh.... definitely one restaurant to skip
Disappointed. We used to occasionally eat at this small family diner on Route 5 in Fairlee, Vermont after church. The atmosphere local, food good, and the prices were reasonable. Yesterday we experienced sticker shock when we looked at the menu, even the restaurant realizes the prices seem outsized as they put a price disclaimer at the bottom of the menu. The problems started when my wife noticed her knife was dirty, I didn’t say anything to our server, just placed it on the outside edge of the table—there it sat the rest of the time we were there. Upon ordering, we requested no cheese be placed on our turkey clubs…oops, both had cheese. When I mentioned the cheese to the waitress she just shrugged and said, “Ok.” I ordered a bowl of fish chowder, but got a cup. The clubs were supposed to be served with a pickle—nope. There was trash on the floor, you can see some in the picture. What you can’t see was the paper and debris along the counter seating. There was a positive here—and it’s the main reason you go to a restaurant, the food, and our VERY LARGE clubs were well made and delicious. Thick slices of non-processed turkey, generous slices of tomato, and large slices of bacon that were cooked to perfection. Unfortunately, the restaurant didn’t match the food. If you don’t mind paying top dollar for well crafted food, and a few bumps in the road don’t bother you, Jan’s Fairlee Diner will provide a tasty filling meal. Sadly, the distractions weren’t worth the flavor for us and we probably won’t be going back.
