Our first time here. Generous portions and reasonably priced. Plenty of leftovers 😋. Friendly service and clean place. Convenient location right off the freeway. We ate outside under the trees . We would go back for sure !

I will say this was one of the best food experiences! There were only 2 men working and they were amazing, tending to our needs even when we kept asking for things. We shared the sampler and it came out in less than 15 minutes. Quick and on the ball. This is the spot for that good hometown feel. The okra had a good batter and was fried very well. All of the meat was juicy and made you say mmm😋. The mac and cheese definitely needed some salt to break up the creaminess. But as far as that goes I put salt and pepper in it and it turned out perfect. Also you can NOT beat the amazing view!! It is a bummer that most the traffic passes right pass this delicious restaurant.

I have often smelled this place - and like you, may have not been curious enough to investigate it because of the proximity to an excellent Hamburger joint in the same parking lot. Today, I decided to try it - and wish i had sooner. Tender, delicious pork - cowboy style beans are flavorful and slow cooked, bun is soft and outstanding, and all the sauces I tried are divine. You will smell it before you walk in: trust me - it tastes just as good/better than the smell. 5 stars all around. Will be returning.

My husband and I have been eating at the Rib Shack for several years. We enjoy most everything they offer but really love the beef ribs. I had them cater my 60th birthday. Shawna helped me coordinate the event. She was personable, professional and knowledgeable about what foods work best and the amount to order. The day of the party they showed at time promised and had everything set up and were ready for us when the time came for us to eat. Everything I ordered (beef ribs, brisket, pulled pork, chicken, coleslaw, potato salad, Mac n cheese and cowboy beans) was cooked to perfection. Everyone in attendance really enjoyed the food. And there were just enough leftovers to enjoy for the next couple of days!! Thank you Shawna and everyone at the Rib Shack who helped to make my birthday special.

This place is a diner with the smoker right outside. The place is clean but a little rundown. They should provide better serving utensils and plates. The chicken was a bit dry but the ribeye and brisket were nicely done. Glad we stopped by and supported them. Hopefully they will renovate their facilities

Small local spot with really good barbecue. Inside is a little tight with only a handful of tables, but there were a few other picnic tables just outside for extra space. Service was great, the woman working the counter was courteous and brought out our food outside to us when it was ready. The top dog for me and my wife were the sides actually. The beans and coleslaw were excellent. Beans had a hint of sweetness with smokiness right alongside. Coleslaw was traditional in taste, fresh and crunchy, and not at all sweet or mushy. Mac and cheese was good, but just average in our opinion. Regarding the meats we had, flavor and seasoning were absolutely on point. Having the sauce on the side was perfect so you can add (or not add) as much as you would like. We got ribs, brisket, and a tri-tip sandwich. The biggest drawback was that the brisket and tri-tip were a bit overcooked and dry. Not enough to ruin them, but enough to notice and wish they were just a bit more juicy. The ribs were super tender and fell right off the bone without being dry at all. Overall, I would definitely stop here again and would 100% recommend them to friends and family. If the smell of smoke doesn't convince you to stop by and try a plate, hopefully my pictures do!

Just ran into this spot! While I was in the area! Tons of reviews and 4.7 stars on google! Right off the bat the young guy at the register is not skilled in customer service but he’s a decent kid you can tell. 2. No Atmosphere what do ever and the cook young girl was very visible and I had to keep initiating questions because it was my first time there. The meat was good and generous portions. The pulled pork sandwich doesn’t come with coleslaw and the sauce is very very basic barely cracks the good zone. The ribs were were also generous but the seasoning wasn’t the best! Overall we give this overall experience a 4! We are from San Diego and we love barbecue the best place is still Lil piggies in Coronado ferry landing! It’s unbearable in the whole region! Blessings

You can eat steak or burger, in addition side dishes. I ate the Baby Back Rib (I don't know what it is...) but it's good. There are some tiny bones in that meat but taste good. I think I ordered French flies as side dish, but I got a Mac & Cheese. I don't care because the Mac & cheese is good. Close to exit of freeway and Gas station so it's easy to access there but its parking lot isn't big.

The brisket burger/sandwich was okay I got a lot of chunky fat with the strips of meat which wasnt edible kinda sucked made me have less meat . The burger was pretty basic not much flavor unless you add bbq. The bread was good. The Mac and cheese i don't recommend. Hopefully other meats are juicier and have more flavor. The fries were better then the Mac and cheese 🥴

tasty barbecue! 🔥brisket was juicy, well marbled, plastic knife & fork tender. sauces were great original was smooth tomato based bbq sauce sweet was a little thicker with little more tang the hot was flavorful spicy with a great kick they all mixed well n paired great with the meat 🥩 slaw was very crisp and refreshing 🥬 mac & cheese was very creamy, cheesy cheddar with spiral pasta 🧀 filled you up great served with a fluffy dinner roll make sure to get a novelty soda 🍾 i got a creme soda to match the atmosphere 🐮 overall plate 3.8 🔥🔥🔥

RIBS POST-HIKE After a long hike, my body wants food. Usually I gravitate toward meat since I've lost protein on the trail. I traveled on the 395 and stopped by the Rib Shack. Hey, it is rated 4.5-4.7 on Yelp and Google, How could it not be delicious? WHAT DID YOU ORDER? I ordered the two meat plate. It comes with two meats, two sides and a Sweet Hawaiian roll. I selected ribs and brisket. My sides were macaroni and cheese and potato salad. I also purchased a side of baked beans $5.00, ridiculous). ARE YOU FEELING IT? I found the food overrated and lackluster. Remember I was pretty hungry because I just finished hiking 10 miles. Meats - tender and smoked to perfection, but needs seasoning. This may be a no salt establishment. HOW WERE THE SIDES: I'm a firm believer that you don't need sides for meat. However, when it's barbecue you must have something to complement the meal. Macaroni and cheese: If you like macaroni and Velveeta this is the perfect combination. If you like the real deal-Pass Baked beans: combo red beans and pinto beans. Excellent smoke flavor. Everything else-Pass Potato salad: Bingo. They got this one right. Hawaiian roll: When are they never perfect? I recommend the rib shack out source their sides to a caterer that knows how to whip it good. WHAT'S YOUR OVERALL IMPRESSION? The two meat meal in my opinion can feed two. The sides can be split. For the price point at $30.00 I won't be returning. And I may also not remember to recommend. On the way to Deer Park Winery this looked like a good place to stop. I asked if their brisket sandwich was chopped or sliced, and when told it was sliced, I asked if it was lean. They assured me it was. When I inspected the sandwich it was fully half fat. I showed this to the them and asked for a pulled pork sandwich instead. After some grumbling they agreed. The pork was so dry I had to smother it in bbq sauce just to be able to swallow it. The brioche bun and French fries were good though. As a bbq joint it’s very disappointing.

Got the sampler plate that includes everything and It wasn’t very good quality, cuts of meat not tender and hard to chew. trashed most of it. BBQ sauce is the cheap stuff out the bottle. Would compare it to cafeteria food. Coleslaw was fresh though I did enjoy that.

I usually love this place but it seems when I went in today, the food was different. All of it. I believe the cooking was made by someone new or different. The ribs that my kiddo always loves and devours, were dry, the potato salad was salty and the beans were way overly spiced. Like I said, everything we ordered tasted very different, and not in a good way. Hopefully it’s as usual next time we go in with the right cook in the kitchen.
