Kantu Forest Hills Reviews
I’ve been here about three times with different groups, and every visit has been fantastic. The food is so good that I always forget to take photos—we sit down and immediately dig in. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, which makes the whole experience feel relaxed and welcoming. We most recently came to celebrate a birthday and tried the lomo saltado, tallarín saltado, churrasco de pollo, tallarín verde, and arroz chaufa—every dish was full of flavor and absolutely delicious. The portions are generous and very satisfying. We also enjoyed the pisco sours and pitchers of chicha morada, which tastes truly authentic. I’ve had chicha morada at other places, but this one is by far my favorite and a must-order every time. For dessert, we tried the lúcuma tiramisu—so flavorful that we didn’t even share and ended up ordering a second one. Whether you’re planning a date night or a family dinner, this place is always accommodating and makes you feel right at home. I’m already looking for an excuse to come back.
We were visiting from Hollywood FL, Queens is my wife's old stomping grounds, where she grew up we found this place called Kantu, from the moment you walk in, the decor the cleanliness, a real cool spot. We were seated, then our waiter Daniel came over, he is what really brings it all together, real cool guy, great customer service, very welcoming, had great recommendations for drinks and food. We had a few drinks first, I had a pisco mango and my wife had the chinka, the drinks were pretty good. For lunch I had the recommended ceviche de pescado, and my wife had the aguadito de pollo. The fresh fish , cilantro, lime and just the right amount of heat made for one of the best ceviches I've eaten. My wife's aguadito de pollo was delicious fresh ingredients homemade taste all the way down. Thank you Daniel for the great experience, Thank you Kantu, you guys rock!
Atmosphere was great , food was delicious the attentiveness by our server was amazing, Luis came back and forth to serve us water each time he saw our glass was nearly empty so it says a lot about his presence. Juan also was very charismatic, made us laugh when we asked him to take a group picture. We will return again.
As a proud Peruvian, I am delighted to say that this is a place I continually come back to. I have eaten a variety of things on the menu. Lomo saltado, jalea, costillas, arroz con pato, arroz con mariscos, the ceviche, you name it. I have not been disappointed. Get yourself there for the lunch special on Thursdays. There's a special dish you can only get on that day, and I highly recommend it. Get it with a Kantu lemonade, or a chicha morada, and you'll be in paradise. I vouch for this place 100%, every time.
Wow honestly, the food was absolutely amazing. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. I highly recommend everyone in the neighborhood stop by and support this place you won’t regret it. Our host, Juan, truly made the experience even better. He was welcoming, attentive, and made sure we were taken care of from start to finish. If you ever get the opportunity to be served by him, you definitely won’t be disappointed. The music and overall atmosphere were top-tier. A solid 10/10 experience. Can’t wait to come back!
This place is a GEM! Absolutely delicious food, a very inviting and pretty dining room - such soothing colors. I especially loved the ceiling decor - so pretty! The staff is knowledgeable, kind and funny. If you're in Forest Hills, stop by for great cocktails and yummy Peruvian. PS their green sauce is the best in Queens 👑👑👑
This was our first time here, and I have to say it was absolutely amazing. The service was phenomenal—Daniel was the best! He consistently checked on us and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was absolutely delicious, with great options for both adults and kids. We finished our meal with some of their desserts, and it was the perfect way to end the experience. We would definitely recommend this place and will for sure be coming back. Thank you, Kantu and Daniel, for the amazing food and outstanding service!
As a Peruvian, This felt like home. Felt like I back with my grandparents. Every one of us felt nostalgic being here. The Cabrito was absolutely cooked to perfection. The tamales felt like it was cooked by my own aunt. The huamanto margarita was DELICIOUS! Everything was great and really filled my heart and soul. If you wanna feel at home, you have to eat the food here.
If you are aim for a good restaurant to have great food, this place is it. The price is reasonable because you are getting a good lunch or dinner. The food really amazed me as I dislike paying for food that comes out crappy but this food was great. This place overall is great. My waiter Alejandra really made me and my friend have a great experience from arriving till leaving. Finally a good restaurant located in the area.
We came here for lunch and the food was delicious! For appetizers, we had the pulpo and fried yuca. For entrees, we had the mar y tierra, fried red snapper, and steak. For dessert, we had their tiramisu. Drinks were also great. Our server Daryl was friendly and attentive. The service was excellent. We highly recommend this restaurant and are excited to come back!
Went here for the first time, we where a group of 4 people. Oh boy the food was AMAZING. Had the mar y tierra dish with tacu ta u and plantains and it was delicious. I also had a mixed ceviche and a pisco sour and their were both also delicious. Service was very good and also the atmosphere. This place remained me a bit of my latino home. Will definitely comeback here again.
Tucked away in Forest Hills, Kantu is bringing bold Peruvian flavors and cocktails that hit on another level. 🌶️🍹 From classic favorites to chef-inspired creations, every dish is a photo-worthy craving waiting to happen. Whether you’re here for a night out with friends, a party, or just good vibes and great food, this spot delivers. The seafood mix with lobster tail? Absolutely next-level. 🦞🔥The grilled chicken is also so delish.
I recently visited this Peruvian restaurant and had a really good experience. The interiors design was warm and stylish setting the tone for an authentic and inviting atmosphere. The food was excellent, every dish felt true to Peruvian flavors. The grilled chicken was cooked and seasoned to perfection, juicy with just the right amount of char. The creamy snapper was packed with rich, vibrant flavors. Overall, this spot delivers on both authenticity and taste. I’ll definitely be coming back.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely outstanding! This Peruvian restaurant delivers authentic flavors that instantly transport you to Lima. Every dish was vibrant, fresh, and beautifully presented — from the perfectly seasoned ceviche to the tender lomo saltado bursting with flavor. The staff was warm, attentive, and made the entire experience feel special. The atmosphere is cozy yet lively, making it perfect for both date nights and gatherings with friends. If you’re looking for true Peruvian cuisine with exceptional service, this is the place to be!
Love the service in here, very spacious store front(i think it took up two) and the big windows are very cute for dining. Spacious bathroom(single) and two other stalls in the other side. We sat by the window and ordered guac with tostones, some fried rice and cocktails. They have different types of lemonade so I'll be going back !! Extensive drink menu(no pic oops) I got the chica morada (also no pic) it was good but I wish it was icier. Cute plates, nice corns fried and in ceviche, could be spicier but it was a nice heat! Big shrimps! Drinks were strong and not sweet nor watered down which was amazing. I lovedddd the flavor of Peruvian tomato and meat dishes, which is what I ordered: Mar Y Tierra Saltado. The saltado flavor here is 10/10. Duckk was a weeekend special it was nice and tender, as well as the baby back ribs. Cilantro rice was packed with fragrant cilantro, but the fried rice was kinda lacking that wok flavor. Cheesecake and tres leche cake was good but their desserts menu is big so I wanna try more! Next time for sure.
I gave Kantu Peruvian Cuisine 4 stars overall. The atmosphere was definitely a 5 — it’s such a beautiful, welcoming space and makes the whole experience feel special. The food was a solid 4. My boyfriend and I both had the lomo saltado, which was flavorful and cooked well. We also ordered papa a la huancaína, calamari, and a chicken and cheese empanada. Everything tasted really good, especially the empanada and the papa a la huancaína — great flavor and nice portions. The service was about a 3. It wasn’t bad, but it could have been a little more attentive. Overall though, we had a great time and would definitely come back to try more dishes!
The place is so nice, and cozy. The service is is good too. We ate a jalea and lomito saltado de carne, both dishes were good but it needs more flavor. My husband agreed with me. Just pay a little more attention in the seasoning. After that everything is great. There's a movie theatre 🎭 next block and we went there too. We had a good time
The food was amazing and well-priced for the portions. The decorations was nice nothing out of this world. It was very nice and calm lunch and I would definitely go back!
Only gave it a 2 star because of Shelly. She was great. My to-go "dinner" was sad for the price. See pic. It would have been cheaper ordering it on Grubhub. I ordered Lomo saltado tacu tacu (dinner to-go), 1 beer (while I waited) and 1 sangria (to-go). I paid $63.92 plus $10 tip = $73.92. I went back and said something about it. They said Grubhub has a promo. It didn't. Management lied. I asked for a beer to make up for the difference. I wasn't expecting a refund. First and last time I go there.
