El Monte Grill - Fort Collins Fort Collins Reviews
Attentive and sincere manager, excellent wait staff, perfectly timed service, and simple food with subtle yet complex flavors. Absolutely amazing! I had the El Rey, one of the best filets I've ever had, which came with potatoes and chard, (an amazing flavor), and a cheese enchilada, which I'm craving today. The "Esteban" drink was the perfect compliment to the meal. Olé!
Sat at the bar for dinner. Really great hand-crafted margaritas. Pay a few extra dollars for the "Coin Marg" - better tequila plus Cointreau. Fresh squeezed lime and lemon. They are famous for their guacamole. The classic is worth the raves. The "Exotic" is unique but frankly a little weird - contains strawberries, mango, goat cheese (seriously), and habanero. It was worth trying but I doubt I'd order it again. The "Pibil Pork" (Cochinita Pipil) is outstanding. Rivaled some that I've had in the Yucatan Peninsula.
Wonderful food, great hand made drinks, good service. Original menu, treats the diner like a grown up. This is not the typical chips and salsa Mexican restaurant. Wonderful!
Amazing food, great service. Some of the best chips and guac I ever had. Employees were very respectful, would be a great date night restaurant.
Great place
Amazeballs!
It was a great restaurant, there were live singers too. My only complaint was that it was a little loud, but other wise it was fantastic!
We came here because the Black Bottle Brewery was super packed.... we heard El Monte was good so we decided to give it a shot. Food was excellent! Unique and all very tasty....but... be prepared because it is pretty expensive. The pork dish we got was 18 dollars and fairly small, but very tasty. Drinks were mediocre and expensive, and we felt a little strange being the only group of people under 40 in the whole restaurant. The service was mediocre at best...Our server never even asked how the food tasted, automatically added gratuity on our six top, and never offered to split the bill. Come on! We are in a college town! I would go back if I was trying to take someone out to a "fancy" mexican meal in Fort Collins (I can't forsee that happening haha).
Our softball team ended up at this restaurant because the original restaurant we wanted to dine at (Rio in Ft. Collins) could not accommodate our party of 25. We should waited it out at Rio. This restaurant had the rudest service staff, horrible service and mediocre food at best. We were the only guests in the restaurant, but service staff advised our kids that they had run out of Mountain Dew (?? really??) and did not refresh anyone's water carafes. We ended up with a bill of over $400.00 on ONE TICKET - the management and servers said they COULD NOT SEPARATE THE TABS because of the 18% gratuity. OMG....REALLY? Our girls just finished a grueling 4-game softball tourney that day, and to have to experience a rotten evening just killed everyone's mood. No thanks, Elmonte. never again.
Not too impressed. The place and presentation is beautiful but unfortunately I think I would've gotten better service at Chili's. Everyone seemed really slow except for the server we had-- or at least I'd assume because they were all chatting and on their phones. Our poor server seemed really flustered and no one was around to help. Food was alright but not amazing and the price made it seem like it should be better. Probably not coming back :/
Let first start off by saying we have been going to here for a few years and have loved every bit of it (services, food, drinks, ect) how ever last night September 6 I had planned a surprise birthday party for my sister. All started off well with service, server told us about the special witch was a steak and scallops I ask if they were real or stingray and was told they were real. Food came out every one who ordered some sort of steak dish had the wrong temp cooked my scallops were not real. There were at least 3 out her tables around us who had the same or even worse issues. I don't know what has happened but I hope they fix it.
Colleague and I came in for dinner on a Thursday night - she'd heard great things through work. Guac and tortillas were great but man - seriously - their tacos are so bad. Either they are terrible, or their descriptions were terribly inaccurate. The Barbacoa tasted of malt vinegar/beer, the black beans were unseasoned, the rice a sticky off white bland mess. The adobo on my "rotisserie" chicken taco was spicy (fine with me but the menu had no warning) but had no flavor. Worse, was sitting there for ten minutes, plates pushed away, waiting for the check. Granted, our plates were still full (no amount of money spent could persuade us to tempt the bland, malty seas), but it wasn't until my colored colleague put on her jacket that the server rushed over to us. Boo, Colorado. You have disappointed me. On the other hand, the entire back page of the menu is dedicated to liquor - so maybe it'd be a great place for drinks?
