At Southport Raw Bar in Fort Lauderdale, we're passionate about serving up fresh, delicious seafood that's sure to impress. Our customers rave about our 5-star reviews, with many praising our tasty dishes like oysters and alitas picantes. One reviewer particularly enjoyed our outdoor seating area overlooking the canals - it's a great spot to relax and enjoy your meal. We're grateful for the glowing feedback from families looking for a great dining experience and those who appreciate a little patience for the food, knowing it's worth the wait.
Southport Raw Bar is a pleasant waterfront spot known for its fresh seafood. Customers enjoy the varied menu, especially the grilled oysters. A recent review mentioned a disappointing pasta dish, but overall, the atmosphere and service are appreciated.
Tip: The terrace is next to the canals, offering a pleasant dining experience. Be prepared for a possible wait.
I’ve been craving oysters, did my homework and stumbled across this place, went around 2pm , happy hour is at 3pm Monday - Thursday , we decided to sit outside , the inside was very dark ,gloomy ,and not the best smelling? The breeze was breezing , the views were viewing, and the food was Grreeeaatttt! Hubby got the fish and chips, I got the grilled oysters and onion rings everything fresh and tasty, service was attentive as well, will return .
Great spot for seafood at reasonable prices, with portions that match the value. The outdoor seating is charming with nice views, making for a relaxed dining experience. The food was fresh and tasty. Staff were friendly, though service was a bit on the slow side. There’s on-site parking, but it’s first come, first served — so it can fill up quickly. Overall, a solid choice for a laid-back seafood meal by the water.
Love this place! Food was sooo good. Got the grilled oysters, old bay shrimp and my favorite item was one of the specials… a spicy tuna cucumber salad with Thai style sauce. So good! The service and drinks from Paul and Kate were exceptional - They are awesome! There was Live music and then Touchtunes after 9pm.We will definitely be returning!
Based on reviews I was expecting a good meal. The actual restaurant was really interesting and exactly what I would expect a seafood restaurant to look like. The service was outstanding. The conch chowder was ok. The raw oysters had little taste. The fried oysters were awful. The good news is I got about a dozen. The bad news is the biggest one was about the size of my thumbnail. They were over fried and tasteless. The fries were not even of average quality. The slaw was really bad-one bite and I was all done. Partially my fault for ordering oysters in the summer but damn. Will never go there again.
Great food thats reasonably priced based on the quality and location of the resturant. Had a live band outside on the deck on Saturday night! Very good. Conch fritters were delicious [and are dairy free], the peel and eat shrimp were seasoned heavily in old bay in a thick redish pink liquid. The raw oysters were great, a few had a bit of sand but not a big deal for us. Yummy espresso martini!
Southport Raw Bar is a true local gem! Laid-back, waterfront vibes with fresh seafood that never disappoints. We stopped by for a casual bite and ended up staying longer than expected—great drinks, chill atmosphere, and awesome service. The oysters were incredibly fresh, and the peel-and-eat shrimp were perfectly seasoned. Sitting outside by the water made the whole experience even better. It’s the kind of place where you can relax, enjoy good food, and feel like a regular, even if it’s your first time. Highly recommend for anyone looking for an authentic, no-frills South Florida seafood spot with character. Can’t wait to go back!
Southport Raw Bar & Restaurant delivered an incredible experience from start to finish. The atmosphere alone sets the tone — bright, vibrant, and full of that relaxed coastal energy. Whether you’re sitting outside under the palms or enjoying the indoor ambiance, the vibe is lively without feeling overwhelming. The food was outstanding across the board. Dinner was a highlight — fresh, flavorful seafood with great presentation and attention to detail. The paella was rich and perfectly seasoned, the tacos were crispy and well-balanced, and everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared. What really impressed us is that we enjoyed it so much, we came back the next morning for breakfast — and it did not disappoint. The eggs Benedict, omelette, and breakfast sides were all cooked perfectly, generous in portion, and full of flavor. Even more importantly, my picky son genuinely loved the food, which says a lot. It’s not always easy to find a place that satisfies both adults and kids, but this spot managed to do exactly that. Overall, an amazing dining experience with great vibes, excellent service, and consistently delicious food. Definitely a place we’d return to again and again.
This place exceeded my expectations. The restaurant had a good vibe, it wasn't fancy but also wasn't too casual. They had good music, and most importantly the most delicious fried seafood I've ever had. The outdoor seating was plentiful and very clean. We got the happy hour drinks and oysters. The oysters were amazing. We shared the mixed seafood basket with scallops, clams, and shrimp. Everything was excellent, not greasy. You can get half a basket of onion rings which was just the perfect size for two people. The coleslaw was also so good. Most importantly they have off-menu double fried chicken wings some told us about. I wasn't sure about them but I'm glad we tried them. They were amazing! Finished of with a slice of key lime pie, can't go wrong.
We made Southport Raw Bar our first dinner stop after arriving in Fort Lauderdale with a craving for some premium seafood and Gator bites! The service was fast and the staff was very accommodating. We enjoyed sitting dockside, overlooking the harbor area with a view of all the fish in the water while we ate. The Gator bites were what I went for and they were delicious! Everything we ordered was top notch, the prices were great and drinks were cold!
If you like fresh seafood, you'll loves outhport. The oysters on the half she'll were large and fresh. The conk fritters were delicious and the Mahi-Mahi Ruben was delicious. I enjoyed eating out on the patio where we were serenaded by a live local artist. Check this place out if you're ever in the area..
The burger was delicious! We went on a holiday weekend and they were very busy. We decided not to wait for the outside seating and sat inside. Our dining experience lasted for an hour and a half from the time we went in until we left.
This placed is definitely a vibe! The drinks are amazing, the food is also impressive, and the Bemini Bread is worth a try. Jackie, the bar tender is amazing!!! The cook Mike be doing his thing and these conch fritters are delicious 😋. Whenever we come from GA this is definitely gonna be a pit-stop!!!
Amazing fort laudy staple you have to visit here if you are in town. The seafood is incredible, big tasty oysters, yummy peel your own shrimp, sliders and fries that hold their own. The drinks here are tasty and strong.
Great spot for food, highly recommend the New England Chowder, the blackened Mahi Tacos and Oyesters, do not recommend the fried shrimp food basket, pieces are very very small. Parking is also limited but was able to get a seat right away
Wonderful little canal front restaurant!! Very nice staff, great chowder and oysters! Nice happy hour bites!
Southport Raw was a recommendation from Family Tradition Sport Fishing. We were told, Southport Raw would cook the fish we caught that day. We took our fish in and the prepared it awesomely! Each pound of fish they cook comes with two sides. We portioned out the fish cook prepared fries, grilled, and blackened. The blackened fish was INSANELY DELICIOUS! They did a fantastic job with the food. We ordered appetizers and sides as well. Everything was good! Great service and tasty food. Highly recommend bringing in your fresh caught fish to have it cooked for you here. Awesome job Southport Raw!
I really liked this place. ❤️❤️❤️I was very surprised that they have such great, huge oysters here — because usually, in most places, they’re really small. Here, they’re very large and tasty. It was also nice to sit outside and look at the bay and the water. There’s a canopy and misting fans outside, so it’s not hot at all. I also really liked the idea of having a roll of paper towels on every table — it’s very convenient. I really enjoyed this place and definitely recommend it.
This local's bar and restaurant is a treasure! Great food with beautiful water views and reasonable prices. All the staff were friendly and fun!
If you’re looking for a family-friendly seafood spot, south port” is a must-visit. The cozy, nautical-themed atmosphere sets the tone for a delightful meal. Their menu offers a variety of fresh seafood dishes, Prices are reasonable, and the generous portions make it great value. The friendly service adds to the experience. We’ll definitely be back!
If I could give them more stars i would! Stopped by 3 times over the Christmas holidays and each time the food was amazing. The servers were friendly and knowledgeable! Would fly back to get to see Joe again! In addition to the oysters, I would highly recommend the old bay spiced peel & eat shrimp, conch fritters, mahi mahi & the burgers!
Always come back to Southport Raw Bar when in Fort Lauderdale! Best Oysters but specifically ask for the half and half soup! So so good! Atmosphere sitting on the water with some awesome live music! Need a place for great food great setting and winding down for an evening this is the place! Absolutely love it!
I love this spot! The food is always fresh. My favorite dish in every seafood spot is always fish and chips and this place does it right. Light batter a nice chunk of fish. The beer is always served in a chilled glass and cold. this is my 3rd time here and the vibe is always so good. The waitress was friendly and fast. For a party of 6 I spent about $140 with drinks. Southport will see me again real soon.
Turns out this place has been around for quite some time. A real hidden gem complete with boat slips in the back and parking in the front. Great food and service as well as a pretty good view looking down the canal. We had grilled oysters and raw oysters as well. Delicious! Definitely visit again when in the neighborhood.
Excellent drinks, hostess on the patio was great. We only had one drink but I loved that I told her we just waited to drink and she said to grab a drink at the bar and pointed is to a great spot on the dock to sit and drink.
Always a solid choice for atmosphere and food! I have been going for 45 years and there is something very comforting about knowing what you will get every time, a beautiful area and good food. Raw bar is fantastic!
We asked a local where they would eat and this was one of her three favorites, so we went there. So glad we did. Nice and casual but the food and drinks were amazing!! We got the mussels half and half and and order of garlic Parmesan jalepeno oysters. They were both cooked to perfection and the flavor in both dishes was incredible. From first bite to last we were oggling and aweing the entire time. We were fighting over the last mussel and eho would get to drink the remaining sauce!! Go enjoy a nice meal in a casual comfortable environment.
To begin, get the grilled oysters and chicken wings. Next, try out the mahi tacos or fish & chips. Trust me on this, you need all of this in your life! Definitely my new go-to spot for seafood in the Fort Lauderdale area. It's delicious, inexpensive, and the staff is always so helpful and nice. Also has a nice little breeze in the back on the water. Will definitely be back soon!
A perfect place for fresh seafood and appetizers as a meal! Our server was excellent! We had a dozen Blue oysters which were $4-$5 more than the regular raw oysters. Firmer and less salty. The Hot Kiss poppers filled with delicious cheese and jalapenos. The peel and eat shrimp doused in Old Bay and it's juices. Ah, and the Bimini Bread accompanied with a Shock Top Beverage! Make it your go to place for a quick seafood experience!
Hello Tatyana Thank you for treating us so well last night. We enjoyed our time at your restaurant very much. Keep being so sweet to your customers because it makes a nice evening out even more lovely.
I have to admit, I have memories of the place from the 90's and 00's that color my experience. I love this spot even though they don't do short pitchers of beer anymore. And I didn't see a late night happy hour anymore. That one hurts, used to come with friends and be a total ridiculous oyster slurping person! But, the food is still tasty. The beer is still cold. The bill, definitely not the same 🤣
Great place, I have been going to this place for 20 years, It used to be that classic hole in the wall place that everyone talked about and loved, but these days its been remodeled on the outside, looks great. the staff works hard, love it. the owner is a nice and down to earth guy as well, we used to chat with him at the gym many years ago. This place is a great value.
All 5 stars for this ft lauderdale icon on 17th st causeway. Friendly staff, great food with reasonable prices, and ice cold beverages. Will continue to enjoy their restaurant for years to come.
I’ve been wanting to visit this place for over three months ever since a good friend of mine recommended. Today was the day and let me tell you, it was definitely worth it. We showed up around 2 pm. It was very busy. The wait time for outdoor sitting was over an hour but we decided to eat indoors, we only waited five minutes. Heather was our server and she was beyond amazing. We decided to go with the seafood basket, grilled oysters, fried mahi tacos, hot wings and chocolate lava cake with ice cream. Everything was phenomenal, three thumbs up. Would definitely come back.
Update: after 6yrs work took me back to the area and I absolutely had to come back to this restaurant and see how it's been doing, and it is still incredible! I sat at the bar this time, waitress was super attentive, the food was delicious and fresh. This time I got some fried oysters instead of raw and some key lime pie, which I highly recommend! Original review: This place was amazing. I've never had raw oysters before, but I'm glad I chose this place to try them. My waitress was very kind and attentive, and the food was excellent. Although I have nothing to compare, the oysters were delicious and the blackened dolphin was excellent. If I find myself in the area again I will definitely be back
Southport Raw Bar is a staple for one of the true local places in South Florida. I absolutely love this place. The views, staff, and food are all on point. I have never had a bad meal here. You want oysters? This is the place to go. Also, they have one of the most underrated burgers in South Florida. Always a great time here and I will continue to be a regular.
First off I consider this an icon place to eat in Fort Lauderdale. You will see anyone here from the best dressed to the guy in a tank top, shorts and flip flops.i started off with some conch fritters, and a dozen steamed oysters and an ice cold corona.both appetizers were excellent. Then I decided to get some crab legs. I don't know I was just feeling it. My server Katie was spot on with the service and was friendly and helpful.the bar was packed as was the waterfront deck so I sat inside and had a great meal.great place to come and grab lunch, dinner or just a round of beers.
4.5 stars. The food is good, consistent, and what you would expect for a South Florida raw bar. They have live music outside on the weekends and it's a great place to grab a meal and some drinks when the weather cooperates. The reason why I really enjoy this place is because it's one of the few places left in South Florida that feels like a real local hangout. The prices are reasonable and affordable. Nothing feels more Floridian than sitting by the dock and enjoying a fried fish sandwich and a few cold beers.
The seafood restaurant brims with old-world charm, offering delectable food and outstanding service. The conch fritters are delightful, as are the Mahi-mahi tacos and catfish. The Key lime pie is exceptional. The wait staff exude old charm and warm Southern hospitality, complemented by live music.
Ashleigh is truly an impeccable server. She is consistently friendly, attentive, and professional, and her presence alone elevates the entire dining experience. After long, demanding days working in the medical field, walking into the restaurant and being greeted by her genuine smile instantly lifts my mood....She has a natural ability to make guests feel welcome and valued, and it’s clear she takes pride in what she does. Servers like Ashleigh are the reason people return to restaurants ...She literally embodies the image, warmth, and quality that every establishment hopes to represent. I sincerely wish there were more servers like her.
Great, local fisherman style pub. Live music a great patio overlooking the marina/river . If you were blindfolded and someone took the blindfold off, you would think you were in the keys. It has that kind of vibe and atmosphere. The conch fritters are wonderful I get them every time. I’m there . The mahi tacos are delicious. The black in mahi plate with broccoli is delicious. The fish and chips is very good. The batter on the fish has a nice crisp to it. The muscles lacked flavor and seasoning but the portion was hearty. The pumpkin cheesecake I think was a bit expensive but it was good. It had more of a pumpkin pie texture, & flavor to it than a cheesecake but like I said it was good. Not sure if I’d ever get it again though.. very much enjoy Southport I’ll be back. There’s no doubt of all that..
Had so much fun visiting South Port with family! Started with Bimini bread which was a sweet, soft treat. Followed by clam chowder and conch chowder then a dozen oysters and 1 lb of Old Bay peel & eat shrimp. Be sure to ask for Amanda!! She is so knowledgeable and fun. Can’t wait to go back.
This place is great for a casual waterfront rawbar with awesome food and amazing seafood! We sat out on the deck and enjoyed the view as we feasted on oysters, clams and the best spicy shrimp in South Florida! The shrimp was so good, we forgot to take a picture until there was nothing left except the shells and remaining sauce! Don't waste the sauce, order fries or garlic bread for dipping! This is a must visit for locals and tourists! Been there for decades and decades and you can tell! Even if you are out fishing for the day. Bring in your fresh caught treasures and this restaurant will prepare them to your liking! Enjoy!
This place is amazing! Their grilled oysters are so good. Expect a wait to get a table so don’t go in a rush, but definitely wait! It’s so worth it.
Oh where to start?! Southport is a vital and focal establishment in Ft Lauderdale. There's a reason they've been in business for many decades! I've been coming here for many years and so thrilled to bring my daughter here to carry on next generation of patrons. Will also note, the Busboy there is a remarkable human! Back in 2012, Southport was one of my clients and they treat their vendors with the utmost courtesy and respect as they would with their customers. Love our Buddy!
Dined alone while traveling. My server (Maria?) was adorable!!!! Super friendly, very attentive, and incredibly helpful with local tips. The conch salad/gazpacho was so good! The Mahi was a little over cooked but still giving this pace 5 stars because of the atmosphere (dive/ cozy), the service, and the conch gazpacho! And holy moly what a good Manhattan!!!!!!!!
Awesome local spot! I definitely recommend sitting outside. Great view and the inside was a little warm. Food was great, good service and fast to bring out our order! The oysters were fresh and phenomenal. Soup (Manhattan clam Chowder) was delicious!!! The blackened mahi tacos were soooo good too! Must try!!
Total thumbs up with this place! Clam chowder, conch fritters, fried scallops basket, and more were all delicious! Friends in our party took home Key lime pie for breakfast, as we were all stuffed. We will definitely be back! Our server was amazing too! More stores and pics on FB - Tingle Travel Agency.
A bit of a communication problem between th from and outdoors. Our waiter Fin was awesome and gave wonderful recommendations. Food and music were very enjoyable. Great recommendation from our friends!
Great place to eat and affordable. We drove from ft lauderdale to the keys over 4 days trying every place we could and this was one of the best experiences. The fried oysters were the best we ever had. The clam chowder was good and the conch fritters are up there with the best. Atmosphere was laid back and quiet. This is a go to for sure.
Been coming to this place for years and I will always be back. They have some of the best customer service and the best food. I come here particularly for the grilled oysters, my wife loves the bay shrimp and we both enjoy the smoked fish dip. Don’t forget to say hi to the chef when you walk near the grill.
Tried this place right after we landed at the airport. Near the airport and food was great. Had the blackened Mahi tacos, shrimp in old bay seasoning and half dozen of grilled oysters. Everything taste delicious. Need a quick bite before or after the airport. This was a great choice. Waitress was super friendly and great service.
We came across this hidden gem before going out on a charter fishing excursion down the road. We enjoyed a few cocktails and a bite to eat out on their spacious patio. Upon arrival we immediately were warmly greeted and informed we could seat ourselves. As soon as we found a seat (outside patio), our waitress was right there with menus and took drink orders. She was on top of her job and very attentive!!👍 It was happy hour, therefore they offered a variety of discounted menu items as well as Pina colada and strawberry daiquiris for $8 and a pitch of Miller Lite (I believe) for $10. I was pleasantly surprised to see happy hour last until 7pm during the week.😊 The reason for only 4 stars is because I have one complainty. My mozzarella cheese sticks were a little overcooked. Therefore the cheese leaked out of them, leaving them hallow. The breading still tasted delicious, but overall I was a little disappointed I wasn't able to bite into ooey gooey goodness. I won't let this deter me from stopping in again. The prices along with the service was too good for something that small to stope from coming back again.
Happened to run into this restaurant and decided to check it out! Once inside, you're transported into this tavern pub. That reminded me a lot of a Midwest lake pub. on the outside, You have chairs and a small dock. You need someone to sit there, but you can sit anywhere inside yourself. The food was great. I really enjoyed the conch fritters and the mahi mahi tacos were good. I did not like the clam but that was maybe just a personal choice. If you like pub-seafood Vibes I would definitely recommend you check it out for lunch
Upgrading my review to 5 stars. I think they updated the menu and its been great on my last couple visits. This time around, I got the rodeo burger (a la carte) and the corn chowder soup of the day. So good. This place has a great Florida vibe. Chill atmosphere, deck on the water, old school divey vibe inside. The servers are pretty cool. The food is pretty good. I got the linguini with clam sauce. It was interesting, in a good way. They serve more in a brother with chopped clams on top. The clam chowder was solid. The hot lips jalapeño poppers were quite good. My buddy got the Philly cheese steak and he liked it, but it didn't come with fries or anything.
Great experience all around and beautiful views! We started with the oysters very cold and fresh! Our server then recommend I try the dolphin tacos (they were delicious) my husband got the Philly and really enjoyed it. We finished with the key lime pie which was my favorite part. The atmosphere was very welcoming and for people out of town was very special to us. 10 out of 10! Definitely recommend asking for Amanda if you want great service. She so sweet and made the experience what it was for us
What a great find! Relaxed little seafood joint with friendly staff, lots of greasy options and a killer view. And it’s centrally located and walkable. We had one of almost everything. Well, almost. And everything was good. Prices were okay, beer was cold, and did I mention the view? Don’t miss this one!
I was on vacation in FLL. I saw the positive reviews and decided ro have lunch. I ordered the mahi mahi tacos and they were delicious! I noticed someone was upset about the lettuce wrap but they offer lettuce or flour tortillas not corn. My server was excellent. The weather was nice and I ate outside. I odseee the key lime pie to go. The pie slice looks small but hoping it’s a winner based on reviews.
I can’t say anymore good of this place because Google doesn’t have 10 stars. Simply amazing. The food is delicious. Best oysters in broward hands down. The Mahi Tacos are exquisite. The service is incredible, friendly and nice staff. The view it’s more than incredible. This place is a MUST if you live/ visit the Fort Lauderdale area.
Came in 10 minutes before final call. So we hurried up and ordered. (Sorry about that) it said it closed at 11pm. It was 1010pm. But the food and service was still really good. Order 2 conch chowders, conch fritters and fried clam strips. Everything was great.
Had a 4 hour delay at the airport so we came here for a really nice snack. Best Conch Chowder! Packed with so much tender conch. Over the top delish! Nice selection of raw clams, oysters and shrimp. Baked Clams and fresh fish dip were good too. Right on the water so you can dock your boat.
Southport Bar is always a vibe — and being right on the water makes it even better 🌊🍹. The views alone are worth the stop, but what really seals it is Lisa Burge is the BEST server. She’s amazing — friendly, fast, remembers your drink, and makes everyone feel welcome the minute you walk in. I luv the Bimini bread (seriously addictive 😍) and the crabs are 🔥 — fresh, flavorful, and always spot on. Great food, cold drinks, waterfront views, and top-tier service all in one place. If you’re looking for a laid-back on-the-water spot with great vibes and an awesome bartender, this is it. Ask for Lisa — you’ll be glad you did! 🦀💙
muy bien
Si quieres algo bueno del mar aqui lo encontrarás 100% recomendable para tosa la familia 👪 gracias por atención
We were told the wait for an outside table would be 1-1.5 hours. We found seats at the bar & ordered drinks & before we had them we were called to our table (5 min). We brought fresh caught fish to be cooked. You chose 2 sides per lb of fish for $25. The fish was delicious. Cooked perfectly. The biggest problem was that our meal came out 1 item at a time. First we received only french fries. Then they brought 1 burger. Then they brought the fish & broccoli. Then a 4th trip later they brought rice. After we were done eating the fish. The food was delicious if you don't mind eating each item like a 4 course meal. The waitress never apologized. Live music was great (Sat night). Parking lot out front is small. I think there's a lot behind the building, we saw people walking after that way after eating. Free bumper stickers. View of the water while eating is beautiful.
Ask for a table on the patio. Cute little dock so you can come in by boat, or park your car out front in the parking lot. I had the fried oysters and they were very small. The atmosphere was fast, high energy, loud. It was packed for lunch.
The food was good. Though the portions were smaller than what I expected. So the price rating should have been like $$$ in my opinion. The best was the grilled oysters. The conch soup was good, but could have been better. Not enough conch. The seafood basket was small. Tasted good, but small. You'd think for the price it was large enough that it was shareable. .. wrong.... So for $60+ bucks between 2 adults and 2 5yr olds... I had to get some McDonald's to be full...
Long wait to sit outside, which understandable due to Covid..... most people inside were not wearing masks walking around and no staff member commented to them to wear a mask.... no point in going if you’re not eating outside, the inside is out dated and really dark Besides that.... the clam chowder was delicious, we came for the oysters and old bay shrimp which did not disappoint, would probably come back. Our server was attentive, but like other reviews I noticed she was always in a rush to drop the food and go.. she never asked if we liked anything but was attentive when we wanted to order another drink or more food.
Busy restaurant, staff was really friendly. We ordered a mahi reuben sandwich which was okay. It was on regular multigrain bread and didn't seem to have the dressing. The clamp chowder was really good.
Basic seafare was good not great but adequate. Had steamed shrimp fair. Not like Maryland’s fresh steamed. But the oysters were fresh. We would go again for relaxed meal and beer
It's a local casual restaurant over a small bay. The oysters were super fresh and tasty, also the mussels were cooked on point and delicious. Besides, they offer a lot of variety of seafood and dishes. I have also ordered fried conch bites and they were not good but everything I have ordered was good. I will go back for their amazing mussels dish.
Breakfast available on weekends until 12:15 p. Until 11am. on weekdays. Although I would not consider this place for a full breakfast, there is a limited breakfast menu. There are outdoor seating tables and indoor booths, tables, and a bar. TV screens throughout. Lively and loud with music playing. It is located on a boat dock. The Bar gets constant service where as if you are sitting at the tables, you have to flag down someone for service. Once served, you don't see service for refills or if anything else is needed, and you end up waiting long periods to flag someone to come to your table. Great place for Boat/ Divers who love Rock & Roll. The place is filled with boater paraphernalia.
Visited Fort Lauderdale for a wedding and had dinner at Southport; ordered grilled oysters, mussels in wine & garlic sauce w/ garlic bread, salad, conch chowder & a mojito. The food was delicious particularly the oysters. I enjoyed everything n the service was excellent. The only negative for me was my mojito in a plastic cup but that’s just my personal preference. Nonetheless, I highly recommend! 9/10
Southport was a short 10 minute drive from our resort. There’s free parking but space is limited. Do not come minutes before they close because you will not get to order. Went on a Sunday night. We sat outside and enjoyed the live music. The prices are reasonable with many options. The oysters were so bomb that we ordered more. The clam linguine is a large portion so come prepared to share or go home with a doggie bag.
I recently dined at Southport Raw Bar and found it to be a decent experience overall. The food was good and came at reasonable prices, which is always a plus. However, when it comes to the flavors, they were fairly average – neither extraordinary nor underwhelming. It's a solid choice if you're in the area and looking for good seafood without breaking the bank, but don't expect to be blown away by the taste.
O had just flew into town and had been craving oyesters. Went in just before kitchen closed but they accommodated me anyway. Seemed like the place had a cool vibe, but there weren't many folks in there at the time. I liked the atmosphere even though the decore was a little outdated. Perhaps that was intentional. The food was good and they had a great menu selection. I was in the mood for raw oyesters so that was my focus. I also had a cesar salad and it was a great portion.
I had researched and planned a fried oyster dinner and decided on Southport. Oysters appear to be a specialty there. I made early reservations at 6pm before the crowds and before I thought they'd run out of things. Unfortunately, they were already out of fried oysters, Ugh. One friend had grilled Mahi Mahi which was fine. A other had raw oysters, also fine. I made a quick change to fried mixed seafood (no oysters). It was awful. It appeared to be pre-breaded at the factory, frozen, and then cooked at the restaurant. Chewy clams and too much breading on the shrimp and scallops. Service was great.
Terraza al lado de los canales, agradable comida varíada y rica, desde alitas picantes hasta ostras. Merece la pena la espera.
Tiene vista agua unas ostras al grill exquistas
Had lunch at Southport Raw Bar, and it wasn’t great. First - the food: Shared the peel and eat shrimp - they were warm and tasty, pretty typical fare. My spouse (DF/GF) ended up with Mahi Mahi tacos but in a lettuce wrap as they do not have corn tortillas. The fish was supposed to be grilled, and it might have been at one time, but it seemed like it came out of the fridge and was warmed up on the counter. Also, the lettuce “wraps” were less wraps than small leaves. What was really weird was they came with no salsa, veg, pico de gallo, nothing! We asked if that was the case for their tortilla tacos and were told yes. There was a small container of creamy sauce, but if I ordered tacos I would expect more. I had the hot dog, and not surprisingly it was the same - a weiner on a dry bun. There was ketchup and mustard on the table and I could have relish if requested, but it just seems weird to get such a plain offering. Next - the service: The server was friendly at first, but as soon as DF/GF was discussed, it was like we were lepers. I suppose that’s a little strong, but after a week in Florida it’s getting a little tiring and depressing being treated like we asked for the moon when only trying to have a conversation about what and what not would be safe to eat. This was not the first instance, nor the last. Why the theatrics? So - OK place IF you don’t ask for anything out of the ordinary.
This place is very difficult to appreciate. Let's start with food. The food is amazing. You must have the raw oysters! They are amazing. Complete fort Lauderdale staple. Phenomenal. The actual restaurant is located well within then seafood district. However, if what you are seeking is a culinary experience where the presentation matches the taste, stop now because this is not the place. Go to 15 street fisheries it's right down the street. This place is more of a dive feel with on the water rear seating with live music. If you done inside like we did it's loud and there are all kinds of things on the wall and it is antiquated. If it is service you're looking for, also not your place. Expect low level service with high quality food / bar food. It won't look pretty but it will be good food. Food quality 7/10 noise 9/10 ambience 5/10.
We sat outside for dinner and it was lovely outside with a live singer. Our server was new and was not great - she forgot things like drinks and condiments and then would disappear for very long stretches of time, but we did have some other servers step in and help with refills and getting us what we needed for our food. Some of the other servers were nice and helpful. My daughter really liked the linguini and clam sauce. My chicken tenders were pretty good, but my husband did not care for the Philly cheesesteak at all. The clam chowder was pretty good as well
Food was good.. at least what we got. One order never came (they took it off the bill) and one order came about 5 minutes before the rest of the food. Only saw server a few times. Had empty drinks consistently. They were busy, so understandable it was a rough night. The food we got, was really good though. If you have some patience and want a good atmosphere would recommend. Just don’t expect attentive service. But our experience might be unique
Something is going on with this restaurant, I think. We are regulars and our food today had a lot of issues. We have noticed a decline but it was nothing as bad as today. They apparently have changed their frozen fish vendor and their grilled mahi was tough and stringy as was the broccoli. My companions’ grits were terrible. Our waitress kept forgetting to bring our beers. So the two of us wanting corona lights got 2 of 3 ordered and I got one of two orders. The owner used to be in the restaurant a lot and took interest in service and food quality. Now we rarely see him. Has this place been sold? Anyone know? It was 5 star before. It’s also MUCH LESS crowded than what we have grown used to. It really hurts me to leave a negative review for a place we have grown to love.
This place is one of me and my husband’s favorite restaurants we go here at least three times a month. We went yesterday from the men’s bathroom that waitress was horrible. Apparently she had friends the city of the booth behind us and decided to sit down and just chitchat with them for the rest of the day I had to call her over not once not twice three times and finally at the end my husband also had to get up and go find another waitress to find our bill and get us a box because we were done. I was more than bad considering it was our 27th wedding anniversary. The waitress never cleared. Our cable never came to our table did not refill. Our drinks. Had to ask another waitress for the shots that we ordered. It was ridiculous. I’m pretty sure I won’t be going back there and this is the same place that when my 12 year-old son ordered a virgin piña colada they gave it to him with liquor in it.
So disappointed. The fried shrimp were like the frozen butterflied ones from the grocery. Also, I love dogs, but not inside of a restaurant. They were not service dogs. There were 3 inside, they even served a bowl of water to one. I thought there are health regulations on having pets in eating establishments. I'm sorry, but if you can't go out to eat a meal without taking your pet with you, consider Uber eats or drive through. Definitely won't be back.
Very pleasant friendly atmosphere. Asked wait staff for local fresh caught fish. Offered mahi-mahi We ordered two meals mine was blackened mahi sandwich. Simply put the worst fish sandwich I've ever tasted in my entire life. Inedible! Did not complain for fear of embarrassing my treasured guests. Sad because this was a favorite place to go short notice. I'll never come back. Tab was $51.90 + tip. I can't see how they can stay in business serving food like that example.
