Friendly, attentive service and great quality and tasting food with a wonderful nonprofit cause. We arrived on a Sunday morning without any wait. The food portions were good in size and the prices seemed fairly average compared to what we had seen while in the LA area. Bonus - we ordered drip coffee and they sent us on our way with a to go cup full!
The workers are extremely caring, this restaurant has deep community roots, serving many aspects beyond food. Sure the chandeliers don’t match, tables don’t match, and chairs don’t match, making one wonder if they thrifted the whole restaurant…The FOOD however, does not fall short of what you’d expect to be there for you on a perfect mellow Sunday morning. The food taste clean, their ingredients, as I found out reading about their story on their brochure as I ate, is grown by local farmers who partner with the workers. The chicken doesn’t use hormones or antibiotics, they have fresh fruit, overall food I didn’t feel bad about eating, it felt clean. Great location, great ambiance, great service, great food. Thanks :)
I recently visited Monkey Business Cafe for breakfast and had a fantastic experience. The cafe was not busy for 9am on a weekday, and we were promptly greeted by the friendly staff. We ordered 2 chilaquiles, one without protein and one with chorizo, a side of home style potatoes, and one order of pancakes. The food took around 10-15 minutes to come out, it was well worth the wait. The chilaquiles were absolutely delicious, and I particularly enjoyed the green chilaquiles - they did not disappoint! The side of home style potatoes was also very tasty and the pancakes were fluffy and satisfying. The total cost for our meal was between $50-60, which was a bit steep, but we felt that it was worth it for the quality of the food. The service was great overall. The staff were friendly, attentive and made us feel welcomed throughout our visit.
I love this place! Great breakfast and coffee. I almost always get the chilaquiles with chorizo but today I tried a breakfast bowl. You can never go wrong with tater tots in the morning. The atmosphere is homey and the staff is always nice. If you are in Fullerton looking for a breakfast/lunch spot that isn’t a fast food chain, check this place out.
Non profit restraunt that serves great food at a good price!!! Went for brunch today and it was so yummy! Parking is always difficult, but well worth the park and walk! Stroller friendly, but I would recommend leaving outside or in the car as space is limited. Wheelchair friendly. High chairs provided. I recommend sharing the pancake platter and going for one of the more unique items as your main meal. It was a good value!
I highly recommend this cafe! It's incredibly affordable, and the food is delicious. The green chilaquiles were authentically tasty, and the iced chai latte outshines Starbucks. The service was fantastic, making our visit enjoyable. My family and I had a great experience and will definitely return!
Our first visit to this restaurant was for the brunch with my sister. I'd describe it as offering a Spanish-style meal with a diverse range of options. We opted for the Chilaquiles and Breakfast Skillet, sharing to savor both. The taste and portion size were excellent—we couldn't finish all the food we ordered. The coffee was freshly brewed, and the service was outstanding. While we ordered at the counter, they brought the food to our table and frequently checked in to refill our coffee. Their homemade hot sauce was a delightful addition, complementing our meals perfectly. Despite its humble ambiance, this place exudes a nice atmosphere, and I definitely plan to return.
Came here on a whim. Absolutely was not disappointed. This big open room is not fancy, the chairs don’t match. All the chandeliers are different and it looks like it was thrown together at the last minute. Then you get your food. I don’t know what magic they use to pack so much flavor in these tasty dishes. The food, the decor, or even the building is not what makes this place special. It’s the staff, they hire at risk youth to give them life skills and prepare them for life.
They always have funky jams playing here! Nice staff and great community. They have some charity projects going on with the local arboretum. I recommend the Egg McMonkey which is basically a make your own sandwich because you have so many choices. I get it with scrambled eggs, sausage, sourdough bread, and potatoes on the side. The potatoes are absolutely delicious. I’ve heard the Chorizo breakfast burrito, the Fullerton burrito, and the chilaquiles were good as well. They also serve lunch here which I’ll have to check out. They give you your menus and then you take your seats and order at the cash register. Pretty good idea so you don’t have to call over a waiter when you’re ready to order. They have some clean bathrooms and a nice mural inside. There’s a very unique and comforting vibe inside which I feel you can only get from a small business like this one!! The unique and artistic tables and the assorted chairs really help the mood :) I came on 11/17 with a large group and it went pretty smoothly I’d say. Another time when I went earlier this month, my grandfather tried to buy a sticker from one of the stands. It’s not merchandise from Monkey Business Cafe itself but I think it’s a local business. The manager (?) told him he had to purchase something else to get a sticker and she dealt with it really well. He then went to the cashier and still tried to buy it behind her back, then the cashier called the manager to ask the price. Once again she dealt with him very well and I just have to I love it here!! I’d come back all the time if I could. Apparently they also do catering that’s cool. Theres also outdoor seating but I’ve never sat outside nor seen anyone do it
Super impressed with this spot. Ordered our food and within 5 mins it was at our table. Delicious, cooked right, every thing we asked for and large portions. We order the pulled pork huevos racheros and breakfast tacos, SO good. Customer service was on point, we saw a table leave and within 60 seconds there was 4 different staff all helping to clean the table and get it ready for the next guests. I love the aesthetic and vibe, it felt like home and comfortable yet very chic and modern while adding some pops and color here and there. Parking is tight but there is plenty of parking on the street. Highly recommend. 5/5 stars.
Monkey Business has such a warm and welcoming vibe with delicious food. On my recent visit I got the Socal Burrito, Roy’s Ricotta Pancakes, and the kids breakfast platter for my 3 year old which includes eggs, bacon (or sausage) toast and choice of a drink - we got orange juice. Staff is very friendly and helpful and the food was excellent. They also serve lunch food as well. Parking can be limited. Highly recommend checking this place out if you are in Fullerton.
This breakfast cafe is a hidden gem! The food was delicious—fresh, flavorful, and just what I needed to start the day. Service was impressively fast without feeling rushed, and the staff were genuinely kind and attentive. You can tell they care about creating a welcoming experience. I’ll definitely be coming back for more cozy mornings and great eats!
Hidden gem in Fullerton!! All the food was amazing! So Cal burrito was fresh and the red salsa added to the flavor, the spice was not overpowering. The chilaquiles were soft but crispy, just how you want them. The pancakes were nice and soft!! Definitely recommend to check this place out!!!
Saw this place on Google and decided to try it. My friends have been here before, but it's my first time and glad I did. I love their cause that they offer employment to former foster youth and at- risk young adults 😍 They're on the corner of Amerige Ave and Lemon St. Parking is limited, so you might need to park in the neighborhood. The service was fast and the staff were very friendly. Great atmosphere and the food was delicious. The music was a little on the louder side, so just a heads up. They played a variety of music like from the 80s and 90s (at least while we were there) As for the food, we ordered the traditional breakfast and the chilaquiles. Both dishes were delicious. I wish my dish came with at least 2 pancakes because they were so good. They were thicker and moist. The chilaquiles had a good flavor as well.
It is a small restaurant, really nice inside very friendly, parking is limited. It was Monday morning a little busy, but fast service. Food was good not complains about taste, we order huevos rancheros, waffles, everything was delicious. Just one bad day we got a someone hair on our food .
This was my second visit and it was pretty consistent with my first visit: mediocre service and great food. It was Labor Day and we were told to wait 20-30 minutes. We didn't need to wait as long but because we were out by the parking lot and didn't hear them call us we were skipped and had to wait another 20 minutes or so to be seated. That's fine. There was fault on our side too. The people are all quite nice but the service is somewhat lacking in speed, accuracy, and common sense. We had to ask multiple times for extra napkins until we finally received them, we had to ask for syrup, cream (for coffee), and jam when we had ordered waffles and toast. Despite that, the food here is delicious and staff is friendly. I would willingly return here time and time again.
You know what's better than enjoying a good meal with a good friend? Supporting a good cause SIMULTANEOUSLY! And you can do that HERE! This is a non-profit cafe assisting at-risk youth. So you can feel favorable spending your hard-earned change here, knowing it will work hard for the community! So, the menu and food are basic; the service, not exactly top-notch but friendly for the most part! Also, during breakfast today, a late Saturday morning while the place was packed, our coffee cups were constantly monitored for refills, we never had to ask - thumbs up! Not only do all proceeds benefit their mission but they also support organic coffee farmers & suppliers in serving organic fair trade coffee. Parking is limited, but if you go on their website you can print a parking permit for a nearby lot. If you're nearby and want something good, while doing some good... Try some Monkey Business!
Presentation of chilaquiles outstanding Very colorful plate . But Needed more flavor. Yes the salsa was good and a bit spicy but had to add some salt on it. The tortillas were so hard and crunchy it was like I was eating chips with salsa . Wouldn’t order this plate again. The burritos on the other hand are the best. I recommend trying any of the specialty burritos. Can’t go wrong with that. The bowl of tater tots ! Super flavorful and the toppings are a perfect combo !
Came here on a Monday for lunch with some friends. We ordered the Egg McMonkey, Pulled Pork Fries, and the Southwestern Salad w/ chicken and a side of fries. Ordering at the counter was simple and easy. Staff was very friendly and welcoming! For those unfamiliar, this place is a social enterprise for Hart Community Homes as a "work experience/job training site for emancipating foster youth and other at-risk young people" (straight from their website). Food was great minus the salad. The cilantro dressing could be a bit thicker + needed more salt. I also found the arugula to be too bitter/overpowering. I'd probably go with something else on the menu next time. Overall: good lunch spot, nice people, and great mission!
Monkey Business Cafe has a comfy and homey vibe that feels like a local favorite spot. This cafe is perfect for being productive or for relaxation. I visited twice on weekdays. Both times were calm with plenty of seating. You order at the register and seat yourself. Staff are friendly and helpful. I tried the Chilaquiles ($16), Breakfast Tacos ($16), and Chicken Tortilla Soup ($13). The Breakfast Tacos were my favorite — you get two big tacos with egg, chorizo, cilantro, cheddar cheese, plus seasoned potatoes and black beans on the side. Their website mentions that they make their food from scratch whenever possible, and you can tell with the potatoes. The seasoning was perfect. The potatoes tasted fresh and homemade with the skins left on which I loved. All dishes tasted good and were shareable portions though everything could have used more warmth. The cafe sits next to a neighborhood. The parking lot is small but street parking is available as well.
Parking was a challenge but the SERVICE was excellent. Everyone greeted us with a big smile. Positive energy was free-flowing. There were a lot of available tables. I'm glad it's not crowded but it could be because we went there on a Thursday morning. The food was delicious. The serving is HUMONGOUS which we enjoyed! The pancake was bigger than my face...lol. I liked my breakfast with bacon, scrambled eggs, pancake. I didn't like the fruits that came it. The honeydue melon didn't taste fresh at all. But that's forgivable bec everything else was good. The reason I put a three star on the rating for their atmosphere is because where we're seated, I could smell something stinky which I think came from the bathroom. I hope they'll clean it better in the future so when we come back, we'll enjoy this place more. Oh, before I forget, for the amount of food that was served, their prices were so affordable...impressive!
I'm not going to lie, at first I was actually excited that my Fiance picked an awesome bruch spot since I only get to see him every other weekend due to his busy work schedule it was supposed to be a treat for us both. We were greeted by the sweetest Young Person who gave us menus and advised us to sit anywhere we wanted. The decor was so cute and welcoming, even though it had mismatched chairs and silverware, it still felt like home. The downside is you have to give your order at the counter and then you're given a table number and its brought out to you. I wanted a waffle so bad and my fiance loves skillet meals. He ordered our food as I sat and said my morning prayers, being interrupted by him to make sure my order was correct lol. Our food came out and I received the roasted potatoes, scrambled eggs and sausage. I waited for my waffle to come, but Instead I received a pancake. When I advised our server of the mistake, she advised the guy behind the counter who took the order and our money of the issue and to his reply "they ordered a pancake, well if they want a waffle we can change it".....(side eye). His response to his own error baffled me and I couldn't even eat anymore. The potatoes were hard and undercooked and I just didn't and could not enjoy the rest of my meal, either could my fiance, so we asked for to go plates and went somewhere else. I took the food home to my kids and to my surprise they didn't even want it either. Hopefully your experience is better then ours but we will never go here again.
