Caffè Ala Galleria Umberto I Reviews
Great place to get away from the sun. I had a frapa that was super large and an extra expresso later on to use al my cream I had left. The location is super and loved to be in the shade and people watch without pressure to move. The staff was friendly and the price correct. It’s was 6.50€ for a frapè and a expresso. Not cheap but guess the location warrants the price hike.
i have no clue why all the reviews are so low! this place was absolutely lovely with (in my opinion) the best gelato i had during my trip in Italy and great coffee and cake too. service was very friendly as well and the whole area was very busy. highly recommend!
I don't understand the other reviews here for this place as we found it perfect. We both had a hot chocolate and it was delicious. Not only that but the staff were so lovely and really took care of us. Finally they gave us without asking some delicious biscuits that if we hadn't had had so much food on this trip we would have bought some to take with us. Highly recommend this place and merci to the staff. Oh and I forgot to mention the absolute stunning location. Magnifico
Cuisine is not wow but good, the stuff were rude and talking in a mean way and ignore you sometimes (our italian language is not excellent so i think that was the reason)
All servers are rude, they will let you with and serve italian speaking "their" people first then you especially the bald guy. 2 stars rating are there for a reason. Never ever waste money here
Just sat and watched the guy with the painted nails purposefully avoid a couple who had been sat at a table for about 20 mins whilst he actually turned the other server away from them to go serve other customers who had just sat down. Not sure what his issue is as he had no interaction with them. This sort of member of staff is what makes you avoid places like this.
the waiter in black glasses and grey hair is completely harsh and unfriendly… just zero professionalism 👎🏼
Of all the places in europe that Ive visited , this one was the rudest experience I have ever had. Servers were very rude to my family and me. Old man working in the store tried to make my mother in law pay more for the pastries that she had because she was sitting on the tables. Horrible experience. I have no idea how they csn afford such a beautiful place
Arrogant staff ! They have put a sign that once must sit on a table to get served and can't pre order at the counter . Waited for 30 minutes but the waiter servicing just 7-8 tables did not turn up !!! Main guy at the cash register was un apologicitic when asked ! Avoid if you don't want to spoil your experience of an other wise nice city !
Awful experience , went to see the waiter to ask for the bathroom, he looked at me like I was a degenerate, pointed upstairs , and screamed, visibly very annoyed, "mamma mia " . I wish it was a joke but it isn't
Unbelievably rude - because most all tables were taken (but not eating OR drinking) we were repeatedly told - "you've paid, now go away". Welcome to "friendly southern Italy". No thanks. Avoid.
Don't go there. We ordered two pieces of the same cake. One was old and dried out. It had nothing to do with the other. After we complained to the waiter, he told us there was nothing he could do. They ruined our mood and the feeling of the city.
ATTENTION TOURISTS, this place is a SCAM. The old man at the counter charged us more than what it was written, and he was also VERY RUDE AND DIDNT want to explain anything. The other workers were nice, but also part of the scam obviously. I DO NOT RECOMMEND, DO NOT COME HERE. I only ordered 2 coffees and 3 ice tea, and it was 17€
Ordered a very nice coffee. Service was quick. However, the older man at the counter was not honest and tried to cheat me. I knew that my drink was 3.50 euros. He pressed about 12 buttons on the machine and then said 3.50, I gave him a 20 and he gave me back 7.50, then waited on me to ask for the remainder of my change. I can count and would NOT recommend any tourist to visit when this dishonest man is working the counter. The younger gentleman making drinks was kind.
TL;DR : Terrible espresso “served” by even worse staff. Astoundingly rude and disrespectful staff. It almost seems like they take pleasure in purposefully confusing non-italian speakers so that they can then disrespect you and call you a liar. Ordered an espresso. Guy at the counter asked if it was for here or to go. I said for here. I pay and he send me to a barista one meter away. The barista then waits in silence staring at me without saying a word, just grimacing. He then rudely asks if I’m going to tell him what I want. I tell him an espresso. He serves it in a to go cup, weird it’s not what I asked, but whatever I’m not going to complain for such a small thing. I then go back to the table where my pregnant wife is sitting. Barista comes out running and gesturing like a clown with a sign saying “no self service” and then yelling at us that we need to pay more if we want to sit because we ordered to go. I tell him we did not, he then calls me a liar and says he heard me order. If he did then why did he stare at me like a moron waiting for me to tell him what I ordered before pouring my espresso?? We were even fine to pay more to sit, we are not fine with being yelled at and disrespected. There is no menu in sight, there is no sign to explain that each item is more expensive if not “to go.” On top of that the espresso was disgustingly bitter. Makes sense the place was completely empty. Never thought I’d say this in Italy but I regret not going to the starbucks right next to it, instead.
I stood in a long queue to politely ask if we could order for a table from the counter (as the pastries were not labelled), or if I had to order at the table. The man behind the counter was extremely rude and spoke to me as if I was somehow trying to skip the line, merely for *asking* (even after I had just waited 5 minutes in a line to ask). We then waited a further 5 minutes, watching the lone waiter serving two tables of people who arrived after us, and clearing another table before finally getting up to leave. Absolutely terrible, rude service. Would not recommend to anyone - and I strongly suspect this treatment is reserved especially for tourists.
