Gatesville Dairy Queen has been really good recently. I have always loved the trains and it's clean. Pheby, the nice sweet girl who works at the counter is amazing!! She knows her regulars orders and always has a huge smile. I love coming here when she is working because she makes my day a little better with her bright personality. Shout out to Jacob as well, when he is on the lime cooking food is always hot and fresh and very tasty. He brings it out to customers with kindness.

I am a FedEx driver here in Gatesvillie, Tx. And man I am very impressed with the cleanness of the restaurant and the quiet and peace to enjoy your food unlike other places. But mannn when I tell you this is the best Dairy Queen burger I have had ever in my life compared to other Dairy Queen’s! Mann the temperature and the flavor and freshness of the food and meats and fries. Burgers had enough juice and the cheese was melted on and tasted like I just had a krabby patty from SpongeBob! The fries were nice and crunchy with enough salt! This gentleman that’s included in the back of this picture deserves the props! He even asked me how was the burger and I was like man I’m ready to fall asleep going home. And you know when you fall asleep after some food that was a fantastic meal! Props to him and I made a new friend here and I’ll be stopping by every time I pass by DQ at this location! His name is Carl! So make sure he makes your burger and food because you can taste the perfection with it! Thanks Carl!

The food here was really good, better than most Dairy Queens. The service wasn’t so great. An employee came in during her off time, and basically had the staff stop to make her a drink while customers waited in line. It was super weird. The tables were dirty. It could be a nice place if they got some good help or management. I loved the stained glass train windows.

They have a chocolate cake McFlurry, which looked delicious. My friend ate one right in front of me. I'm on a diet so I can't eat one but I really wanted one. But I was able to resist. if you are not able to resist I would recommend you go get one because of how delicious he said it was.

Came thru Drive-thru. Service was quick and fast. Only dislikes: wasn't told my total until @ window & no napkins for Ice Cream.

It hasn't been on the menu for a while, but they still make me a Jalitos Ranch Burger here. I was pretty disappointed when I paid a good bit more for my medium Blizzard and my wife's small was the exact same amount of goodness. Why did I bother paying more if you only fill the cup to an inch from the top?

Staff is always friendly and seem like they enjoy their jobs. Had to wait a few minutes, but my order was hot and made fresh, so well worth the wait. Love the new paint, makes the dining area more relaxing.

As good as any other fast food joint. They get my order out in a timely manner and very rarely screw it up. Can't complain much here. The new guys have a hard time keeping up if you have multiple orders so you may find that you will repeat yourself once or twice.

Everyone is surprised when I tell them this, but DQ has tasty tacos!! They taste fresh & homemade. Much better than Taco Bell. The nachos were basically like football game concession nachos, but it still hit the spot. Of course, the frozen treats are always good.

Place was a little slower than what I am use to. The food on the other hand was hot a good. The iced tea was also delicious. I was passing through town when I can to this location. It was easy to drive into and get out of. It is right off the main road. This Dairy Queen did not disappoint in terms of flavor and ease of access.

I wanted a Banana Split but was told they didn't have any bananas.. hard to believe a Dairy Queen didnt have a banana since they are within 100s feet of a grocery store. I paid for extra Butterfinger for a medium blizzard, and I might as well have saved my money. I didn't get anymore than I would have for a regular order.

The food is good but over priced in my opinion. Some nice train themed decor in the dining room. Two locomotive stained glass windows and some model train dioramas. The blizards are really good.

It seems to take them a long time to come to the counter and then to prepare the food. I had to wait a long time for my order, however, when I got my food it was good and hot. I just felt the service wasn't what it should be.

Average food, but the fries are great. Dipping sauces don’t seem to be refrigerated and are leaking.

It was my first time having Dairy Queen in years and I was craving a blizzard. When I got home, I saw that the blizzard was still 60% vanilla ice cream..... it was an Oreo Fudge Brownie Blizzard and more than half of it was still vanilla. I ended up throwing it away.

The young man who took care of us was great. The burger was cold enough that the cheese wasn't even melted. We were hours away from home so I didn't take the time to have it redone

The cook was the best employee in the place. He messed up on the order yet fixed it immediately. One girl didn't speak at all and kept going to a table where a guy was sitting. And giving us dirty looks the whole time. The one who took our order was very short and to the point not very friendly at all.

The inside seating lobby doors were closed, and we sat outside in our car for 15+ minutes in 100° teps to wait for Drive Though Fast Food lol. But when we asked if we can get 1 refill on a large that was mostly ice the worker rudely said no and it would cost extra... doesn't seem fair or good service. After spending almost $40 what harm does a refill make, especially when we got hot kids in the car.

Food takes way to long. The shake is made first and when taking that home for someone else it is always runny, no longer a shake, maybe ask if they would like now or when food is ready. Service is hit or miss.

Had to wipe our own table. Not one out of about 20 tables was clean. The flies are out of control here also. Slightly disgusting to have to guard your food and swat at flies while you're eating. On another note food came out fairly quickly and tasted really fresh. I think when we wiped down our table, a worker got the point and came to sweep and wipe down the tables. It was right after lunch so maybe they got busy.

Visited 2/9/24 at almost 9pm. I ordered a small hot fudge sundae. I got a glob of ice cream and one spoonful of hot fudge on the side. Not happy.

Very slow on just a Blizzard, Fries and wasn't busy. Poor service. The Blizzard was half melted and fries weren't hot. Not worth the wait or price and will NEVER visit Gatesville Dairy Queen ever again.

The gravy for the chicken strip basket was so watered-down it was like soup. They forgot to give me the blizzard I ordered, we realized it as soon as we left the parking lot and drove back. My friend went inside to get it. The person rudely said " here it is " and handed her a cup that was on the counter. It was so melted it spilled over me in the car . Horrible experience!

3 blizzards took 30 minutes. This was an order for Favor affected my time and my rating.

Came in to get some food with a friend of mine. I asked the lady at the front if they were doing a deal that other dq's are doing, she responded quite unpleasantly that they don't. Rather short with any follow up questions. Lady in the back cooking, was ill tempered towards the team and rude to them. Tables were dirty, half the lobby was closed. Food was at least hot. Overall not happy with service or atmosphere.

Please train young people on correct way to make the blizzards. They are already overpriced. Medium gets more than one scoop of toppings. Also- blend it halfway. These aren’t hard to make.

Came in today after visiting my cousin at the gatesville prison. Not only did I hesitate to order anything due tonall the flies flying around but I decided to give them a chance. When you walk in it is empty. The staff acts like they do jot see you walk in or notice you. But after a hello they actually look at you and pay attention only to tell you to wait. So I decided to sit down. Since it seemed that the drive thru was very busy. There where 3 gentleman sitting there in uniform. As soon as they got up knew what they were going to order the lady immediatly notices them and took their order. Not only was i dissapointed but she saw me standing there waiting to order for a good 5mint. As a vereran not been in UNIFORM I guess priority is those who serve now. 😞 I still got up and decided to order just 1 large dip cone and thank the man for serving our country and as a veteran it gives me pride to see them. They all smiled and said thank you also. The lady at the counter seem shocked and walked up to me and handed me my dip cone. I told her thank you and next time to make sure all customers are taken care of not just the ones in uniform. They can do better at this store from keeping insects out of the lobby where people eat to acknowledging all customers NO matter race or uniform. I gave them 2 🌟 because the rest rooms where nice and clean and at least she handed me my dip cone. 🍦

It won’t be long and this place will be closed with the customer service the way it is. Writing this review as we wait for food over 20 minutes now. Had to run our payment card twice because she wasn’t paying attention and left items off. Two girls we can see all on their phones.

We placed two orders at same time. Finished eating first one before they brought the second wrong order out. SLOW staff and no way to fix it as it appears to be family business. Well worth never going here.

I wouldn't even give it 1 star if I could. I went there the last week of June and I saw at least 5 employees, all of which were NOT WEARING MASKS OR GLOVES. Big Heavy set guy cooking in back sweating profusely and handling burger buns with his BARE HANDS. Would you like a little SWEAT with that burger? How Bout' a little COVID 19? STAY AWAY!!!!!!!

Customer service really bad but what would you expect from a fast food joint and that's not what I'm warning you about. My wife and I completed our order and the heavyset woman that took our order took my credit card to the back of the restaurant to scan our card. This set off alarm bells so I started watching my account. Sure enough a few days later I started getting fraudulent charges on my account. My credit union fixed this immediately because their fraud alert system caught it as well. Since my wife is usually the one to use her card this is the first time I used my card in about four months (as confirmed by my credit union) so even they suspect this is where my card was skimmed. I'm not saying avoid this place but to avoid using your credit or debit cards here. Cash only.

Took lunch @ 1130 am today was hungry for steak finger basket. Drove up to speaker and nothing followed car in front of me all the way to window and still nothing. Me and 2 other cars drove off and had to settle for sonic. Apparently no one is working today!

Called in my order, waited at the window for 20 minutes. Seven or eight other people came inside and they waited on them and never came to the window to acknowledge me. I’m done!

It says online they close at 9pm. My daughter and I got back into town and showed up at 8:50pm. The showed no signs they was open even went up to the window. If you say you close at 9pm then you should shut all lights off at that time not 10mins early.

Waited 20 minutes. Food was all cold. Chicken and fries were completely inedible. Just asked for fresh fries, so I didn't have to wait long. After another 20 minutes, I gave up and drove off.

No im not giving this a star at all, that's Google being nice. My issue is because I've gone twice and had my order completely messed up both times. I've order a grill chicken sandwich, wanting nothing but lettuce and cheese and ended up with no cheese, mayo, tomatoe, and lettuce, the next time I went today to get a simple double cheeseburger with Nothing on it but pickle ketchup and mustard, waited for 25 minutes and ended up with a double hamburgr,hamburger, onions, tomatoes, pickles, and mustard, so no not of average service in the slightest at all

Absolutely horrible service. Drive through speaker never works. Waited 20 minutes just to place order and all the car in front of me gas was one ice cream. Finally get to the window and the employee takes 10 more minutes to come take my order. She was rude and informed me they have no change so I have to pay exact change. Seriously? I place my order and she goes to the back and cook and there is no one making mine and my sons blizzard. Only reason I bothered to wait is because there's nowhere else to get a blizzard! What is wrong with these people?

The staff are not customer oriented and if you go through the drive through …expect to be there for a minute..& pay $3.25 for a large coke!!! 🙄

Ordered extra cup of gravy but didn't get it. To go with chicken strips dinner. The nachos were pretty much wilted lettuce with a little bit of over cooked hamburger meat (unseasoned) and soggy stale chips. I don't think we've EVER been so disappointed with DQ.

The store manager was rude off the start of the conversation. As the only person in the drive thru I still waited 16 minutes for my food. I see they are low staffed but I noticed an employee saying harmful comments behind my back as the drive thru window wasn’t closed all the way. Now I understand why this restaurant is low staffed and don’t recommend anyone ordering here until there is change in attitude.

The service here really sucks . I went in and ordered and had to wait 30 minutes just to recieve cold and stale food !! I asked for fries with my burger and did not get them cause the girl said I did not order any and I told her that I did order some . She was very rude !! Went through the drive thru and the girl told us she’d be right with us and waited 10 minutes with no one coming back. I ended up driving up to the window only to see them talking, seeing they completely forgot about us. I didn’t catch the girl’s name as she wasn’t wearing a name tag, but I’m definitely not going back.

Total disaster. Waited 15 minutes behind 1 car in the drive thru. Finally drove around and went inside. They had lost the order and started over. Waited another 10 minutes, was handed the bag missing a couple of things. Masks were pulled down to talk behind the counter. Got home and the burger was totally wrong. A poster of incompetence, pretty much a joke.

It was the worst visit I have ever had there.waited at the counter 10 minutes before I got to order.ordering was a nightmare. I ordered my wife a double meat no cheese with mustard, myself a double meat with cheese all the way with mayo. My wife's was without tomatoes. I got a double meat with cheese and mustard no tomatoes. My wife's came with double meat cheese mayo and tomatoes. All of this after we had to send our nachos back because they were cold.

The one person who works there always has an attitude look on her face , also the speaker is out so the wait is significantly longer as you have to order at the window and the one person who's always there is rude giving dirty looks. Also skimping on what goes in the blizzards and not properly mixed .

Worst DQ experience EVER. Sat in drive thru with ONE other car. Between ordering and waiting at window behind the ONLY other car we were there 20 min. Finally gave up left. Happened at 2:30pm Sunday.

The people are rude as I have ever seen. They were not busy at all. We had to wait to order there was no one in line or hardly anybody inside. We got to the window and they told us we was gonna have to wait 15 minutes for an ice cream cone.

Went there today-there was no one in front of me and they made us wait like 5-10 min. For our food. The fries were hard and cold. The salad was dry with no dressing and hardly any cheese.

Waited in line 45 min for food. Got tired of waiting so we went in to get the food. There was no customers in the building and only 3 cars in the drive threw. The gravy was nasty. Would not recommend going there unless you want to wait forever for your food.

Insane prices that seem to keep going up and average food!!!! $12 just for steak fingers and fries, no drink???!!!!!! Nothing is clean and employees can’t be bothered to turn parking lot and menu lights on for drive through. Will say the young male employee was very polite and nice.

Horrible food. Ordered 2 chicken tender kids meals, came with 2 tenders and fries. When I asked for bbq sauce instead of gravy (which they didn't get anyways) I was told it would be a charge. Then they proceeded to try and give me gravy. The bacon ranch burger had so much ranch it was literally pouring off of my sandwich. Bacon was practically raw. Couldn't even eat it. So much salt on the fries they were inedible too. Waste of time and money trying to eat here. $46 later and still have hungry kids.

Had to explain why if something was not available then they couldn't charge me to have it. Then they still forgot to make some of the food. The chicken tenders were are dark and hard as tree bark. The mens room was filled with flies, the floors were dirty, napkin piles holding up broken tables that were all disgusting. The employees were loud and unprofessional.

This literally just happened. Ordered nachos, cheese, 3 tacos, jalitos and 4 drinks, $40. No tacos delivered, will credit card in a week for $2. Will NOT ANSWER THE PHONE. So, no food for me and I get $2 back in 5-7 days. Legalized theft. I'm still very hungry.

I was craving DQ on our drive home from Abilene to Richmond and so we stopped here. I regret stopping here. We thought they were closed because no cars but then we seen one van so we knew they just didn't have customers at the moment. So we thought it would be faster than usual since we're the only customer. I was wrong again. We sat there for more than 25 minutes im sure. I ordered steak fingers basket, chicken tender basket and hunger buster. No drinks. Honestly the wait didn't bother me too bad, it seemed like there may have been only 1 cook who is just really slow. But when I got my steak fingers I couldn't eat them because they tasted super weird and nasty and one seemed kinda uncooked but then another seemed dehydrated. Idk I trashed them. I honestly almost threw up in the truck while I was driving. Husband was laughing ofcourse because I'm grossed out too easily. I ate one of my kids chicken tenders and they weren't too bad but they seemed too hard. Not inedible though for sure like the steak fingers. The gravy was good!!! My husband burger looked good to me! But compared to other dq burgers it wasn't great. The French fries were cooked hard and crunchy which I actually liked but the only issue with that is alot seemed super greasy so that sucked. So I ate the good fries with gravy. So I was hungry for the rest of the drive. This place needs some training on the cooking procedures FOR SURE!!!!! The manager is at fault for sure because it is unacceptable. Do better.

Always dirty and super slow. Drive thru or dine in plan for at least a 30 minute wait. Especially if they refuse to use the drive thru order box and make you order at the window. Blizzards never seem to standard of others cause they skimp on toppings, maybe because the employees are snacking on them while drive thru patrons are waiting to pay, or order, or get drinks or the food. No one cares, no manners at all, and it shows.

This location service is super slow and will have in the drive thru waiting for ever..very disappointed. Menu sign and whole building lighting is out cant even see the menu poor management decided to spend our money elsewhere.

Went to get a burger and ice cream they were out of buns ok no big deal how about some tacos were out of cheese ok how about this sir we are out of that. The staff was excellent. On a Monday at 3:00pm when the manager was present it took me 20 mins to get one order. A chicken sandwich and onion rings. I was the only one in line after five minutes of waiting at the window i was asked what i had ordered again. After waiting another ten minutes my order comes out and i knew to look into the bag and it was wrong. After that i was asked to pull of to the side and wait some more. It’d be one thing if it was being ran by teenagers that had little job experience but for an adult to manage the buisness and it be ran like this it’s a shame. I’ll go to sonic for now on if i want anything

Waited at the the drive thru menu for 5 minutes saying hello. No one ever answered. Came inside and the lady took my older old school style on a pad then called I out to the people in the back. I then proceeded to wait 30 minutes to get my stale fries and burger. Fast food is an oxymoron in this town especially at this place. Never again. I could kill, butcher and grill my own burgers @ home and it would still be faster

It's been over a year, and i'm afraid the understaffing problem has not changed. My husband and I ordered one burger a drink and a cone today, and ended up waiting for nearly 45 minutes. I felt incredibly sorry for the two employees that were stuck having to do the work of what could easily be for four people. Do better DQ franchise owners.

Me and my girlfriend wanted a couple salads from DQ and to our displeasure they somehow managed to mess up our very simple order while also taking about an hour to get our food. For a fast food place this place isn’t very fast and doesn’t even give you the right food. Not to mentioned they overcooked the chicken on my girlfriend’s salad. The TLDR is too expensive, too long of a wait, too much messed up food, and overall terrible experience

Ordered parked in drive thru 10 minutes fella says pull up front. Pulled up front waited 10 minutes then went in. They had no customers inside or out besides finally got total time 20 minutes 25.00 later for 2 people got on road salty burgers extreme. No napkins. Very disappointed

We visited on Sunday, 10/29 around 1pm. This was probably the cleanest DQ I’ve been to. That was very nice. We all liked our food and the cook seemed to do a good job. But someone who actually cares about this business needs to train the manager here in simple customer service. I can deal with a long wait or my order being incorrect, which we did have 3 missing items but got corrected quickly. What is not okay, is the manager’s TERRIBLE attitude. Not only towards paying customers but to the other employees that work here. What I saw while we were there was simply sad. In the short time I was there, I actually witnessed someone else in the drive through ask for the manager’s name so he could call and complain about her. Her response was that she couldn’t give out her name. She then proceeded to have the worst attitude and continued to deal with everyone around her like a bratty 2 year old child. And she’s the manager? She was flat out mean and had a look on her face like she was mad that you came to DQ. There was a lady, I believe her name was Amber from what I remember someone shouting to her, who was taking our order and trying to do a good job. She was so sweet. She said she was brand new (she said it was her first time dipping a cone, ringing things up, etc.) which it showed because she was having a hard time with the register. Anytime she needed help and said she needed to ask her manager, the manager was the rudest human I’ve encountered in a long time. The way she was talking to this new girl was demeaning and unprofessional on so many levels. Amber at least was trying and treated everyone she dealt with very nice. If this place can’t keep employees, I’m pretty sure this manager is the reason why. Being courteous is not hard. If people have to wait longer than they’d like to or their order is slightly wrong, but the people working there have a nice attitude and are willing to be helpful, most people are forgiving. The manager on duty when we visited should not only apologize to Amber but she needs some SERIOUS training in the basics of customer service.

Myself as well as a patient of mine have been trying for what feels like a month to get chicken and dumplings. Everytime we’ve been there it’s been either “ran out” or they “have it but we haven’t cooked it yet” they pick and choose what times and days to cook certain things which is absolutely ridiculous. Your menu is made to order you need to keep what you have in stock and ready to be cooked or prepared especially a menu item that’s highly requested. As of today we called again the response was once again that you have the Chicken and Dumplings but don’t know why or when you’ll actually make them??? Seriously??

This location NEVER has enough help! And the workers are rude to the customers even when the customers cannot reach the store by phone, the speaker doesn't work and they make you wait behind someone at the window instead of asking them to pull around while they take the next customers order. So when the customer asks why all the difficulty, they get attitude instead of an explanation. The difficulty with this is that it always takes 15 to 20 minutes to just get some food, the gravy containers are barely 1/4 full, the fries are always soggy, and just poor quality food. Hope they can turn it around because we need a decent DQ in this town.

My family and I came here because we were visiting the drive in and my children really wanted blizzards and burgers. We waited in line for 45 minutes with only 4-5 cars in front of us thinking this was due to fresh food being made. This WAS NOT THE CASE. When we pulled up to the window, the young lady asked us our order and it was completely incorrect. None of the blizzard were made. Our burgers were incorrect. The soda cups were literally filled to the rim of the cup with ice. The bacon in my burger was not cooked. We did not feel well. The fries were hard and old. They clearly had been dropped 2-3 times. The young lady with brunette hair and was cleared glazed eyed and stoned at the window. There was a young Hispanic girl trying to correct the issue, but she clearly did not have the assistance. There were some cars parked, but not enough for the service that we received. I WILL NEVER BE BACK! I have every intention on calling corporate as well. The fact that this place is allowed to hold the name Dairy Queen is absolutely mind-blowing!! I literally spent $50 on food that my family cannot consume. Between the wait times and the level of service, this establishment has to be bleeding money financially. Everything was awful. We have been to the McDonald's here many times and the service is always excellent. We will stick with that for movie night. 10/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND!!

How does a place that is supposed to sell ice cream not have ice cream? I get it accidents happen, but this next one takes the cake. I ordered a regular chicken strip basket, after waiting for 40 minutes for my order to be done, I opened it up and they gave me buffalo chicken strips.

I went through the drive thru and got back to work and took one bite and there was a 6 inch hair in my burger. When I went back I showed them and they made me a burger and didn’t even use gloves while touching the food!!! Some major training needs to happen in that place about health and safety

Rio Grande City Texas had number 1 spot for the worst dairy queen I've ever been to,that all changed today i was in gatesville texas an there drive thru speaker was down so I waited 45 minutes in line just to be told that there is no ice cream available at this time. Could've sent an employee out to tell the people waiting in line that there machine is broken. What a poor excuse of a restaurant!!!

Im not typing the type to leave reviews because I know that stuff happens and we hall have bad days. But I went this evening to get ice cream with my mom and sisters since I’ve been sick and really just wanted ice cream. We all got something and I understand that someone ordering 6 ice creams isn’t ideal but the young man at the window was really nasty to my mom. My mom asked to make sure we had ordered 6 bc she wasn’t sure if she had gotten the right amount for everyone and He told her he hopes she stubs her toe when taking her payment and then told her he would have it out quickly with the nastiest sarcastic attitude. My mom laughed it off and she doesn’t let those things get to her but it was really unnecessary. I’ve worked in food service my whole life and I completely understand that some days aren’t great but treating someone like that is never ok. Just really disrespectful and disappointing honestly. We then had to go to the gas station to buy more chocolate to put in our blizzards because they barely put any in them and left us mostly vanilla ice cream.

Went to DQ Gatesville on 3/23/25 - 2 cars in front of us - took over 30 minutes to get served (no one inside store). Outside speaker not working. Employees did not ask cars to move forward after they ordered. Dipped ice cream cone not done properly (see photo). Very disappointed

I just recently started going back to Gatesville tx Dairy Queen, because it was getting better,but not today July 20, 2024. Pulled up to the speaker at 11:08 am waiting a few minutes nobody answered, pulled up to the window waited another 5 minutes finally a girl open the window and I asked waste speakers broke , and she said " No I was busy", took my order, was told no gravy, no coke or Dr Pepper. Got my order wrong, food was over cooked, nachos yuck not appealing. Was told to pull up , finally after awhile had to go inside and get food. Come on Dairy Queen do better. I have been in food business, you have to be there earlier and prep. Won't be going back.

Ordered the 3 tacos.. only received 2 with hardly anything In them! All shell basically a pinch of meat, pinch of cheese, hardly any lettuce… I used to love them! Y’all need to do better because would you eat a taco that looked like this and not even receive your 3rd taco…. Waste of my money!

I don’t know what’s going on here but these were nachos in a bowl. I’m honestly not sure my burger was safe for consumption as it was soaked in oil as if someone dropped it into the fryer on accident. These nachos were pretty sad. I can’t for the life of me figure out how this place is even open to the public. Baffled. Whoever owns this place should be embarrassed.
