Harry's Gillespie County Reviews
Called in for call ahead seating told a 10-15 minute wait we were seated within 5 mins after arriving. The service was great and the food was fantastic. Food we sampled were the Mexican street corn, Whiskey burger, and Mexican street corn salad. The burgers were cooked perfect and the pasta was definitely heavy on sausage and chicken. Also I tried the lavender lemonade which is an alcoholic drink it was wonderful. We will definitely visit again and again.
Great bar with large range of cocktails. Staff their known their products really well! And if you are a dog lover, the place to come - walls filled with pictures of all the dogs that are in their lives
Que was an amazing sever checking on us every 5-10 mins and brining drinks to us when we didn’t ask love u que
Very good quality/price ratio, we had a clam chowder and a burger and both were great and tasty. The service, albeit a little slow, was very good and spot on the recommendations Definitely we would go again if we visit Fredericksburg again.
My wife and I went to Harry's ale house (downtown )yesterday for lunch and I just felt the need to say how good the food was. We've got a 5 and a 2 yr old and we had grandparent coverage for an hourish so we decided to go out to eat for the first time in six months. I've been to both locations, probably two dozen times, and gotten the burger of the week 80% of the time, almost always unique and almost always great, but yesterday I tried the Big Shrimp sandwich and it just solidified how everything I try there is good. The huge perfectly breaded shrimp were just falling off the bun because there were too many to fit (if that sounds like a problem, it wasn't). The bun was perfectly toasted. We got the crab dip too, one of our favorites. Anyway, I'm not trying to sound like a corny commercial or anything, but when you have so little time to go out and so few opportunities it can feel amazing to have it go perfectly, so thanks to Harry's! If you haven't (One Note... the sad country music was a little off-putting, there is perfectly fine country music in the world, but I feel like the music should be 10% quieter and 100% less sad sack songs about cheating. Any station that plays the Luke Combs version of Fast Car should create shame in whoever turned it on.)
Seriously great place. First time ever visiting. Had tacos and sat at the bar. Service was quick, servers and bartenders were attentive, and the food tasted awesome. Keep up the awesome job! You guys should give lessons to the restaurants surrounding you. They need it.
Very very good clam chowder. Good honey bourbon salmon. Highly recommended. Nice addition to Fredericksburg options.
This was our first time there, and certainly will not be our last. The greeter was fast and friendly, and our server, faith was amazing. She is not only very personable, but also very knowledgeable about the menu and the beers. My wife had the fish and chips and it was cooked to perfection. According to her, it was big enough for two people. I had the barbecue whiskey, burger, and it was well cooked and very tasty. Even the dessert was excellent. great job to everyone there. Thank you for being a great new addition to Fredericksburg.
First time dinning experience. Hot honey wings were great, half price on Wednesdays. Also, I had a great burger. The crab dip was fair. Pita chips were nice, warm, and crisp. Ty was our waiter he was simply awesome!!!
I loved my first time at Harry's! My husband had been before. We went in for lunch on our way back into town. The staff were super friendly. The lunch special burger was delicious and the fries were great. I highly recommend this local restaurant ♥️. It was fun to look at all the dog pictures all around. I'm a cat person, but I appreciated all the framed photos of dogs.
The food was brought out incredibly fast and was cooked to absolute perfection! Our waitress was still in training but she did such a great job it was obvious she has a wonderful trainer. Even the manager stopped by to see how things were. Perhaps a simple move but that action went such a long way with us. (Trevor... you have an amazing staff and thank you for being so kind and asking how everything was!!) HIGHLY recommend Harry's and I will absolutely be going back!!
Both of us are semi-vegetarian and selected the black bean hamburger, I selected onion-rings in place of fries. The burger was absolutely the best I ever had! We were going to be doing a lot of walking, so I ate what I could and felt full for many hours later. Honestly, I'm an onion ring snob, and these are very good. I hope you enjoy the visit.
My partner & I dined with Claudia yesterday and had one of the best restaurant experiences of our lives. Claudia was extremely friendly as well as knowledgeable, she suggested the honey bourbon salmon which was absolutely phenomenal. The atmosphere was inviting and comfortable. We will absolutely be back in Claudia’s section on our next date night.
Went for lunch on a Friday. Restaurant was clean and organized. We were greeted and sat quickly. The waiter was friendly and took our order quickly. Food arrived timely and the order was correct. We had sandwiches which were really good; the fries were excellent. They validated our parking. Enjoyed our visit, we will definitely return.
Drinks are good, food is incredible, and the staff are awesome! Will definitely come back for their buffalo chicken salad!
This place was amazing. Service was top tier! Our first time here but it won’t be the last.
The environment is great! The bartenders are very knowledgeable about the selections of beer they have on tap and what's in season. Their selections of beer and food are great!
Love, love, love this restaurant!!! Everything I’ve tried is delicious, and the fries are nothing short of amazing. Service is excellent. Love all the dog pics on the walls lol. Really enjoy getting lunch here with my friends. Eat at Harry’s!
Good food overall and excellent burgers. Very good service which is a huge win. Nice experience overall. Will definitely be back
(Updated Review) Changing my previous review to 5 stars. We came in again on Friday August 1st and this time brought our out of town friends with us. We sat at the bar again and coincidentally was served by the same person we previously had in our last review. The Service was night and day compared to our last visit. The bartender was friendly and attentive and this was on a First Friday! MUCH better service this time around. Harry's food is always excellent so no complaints there! I also appreciate the owner reaching out immediately to address the issue of the first negative review! Very impressed! (past review) Awful service at the bar! We come in about once a week and choose Harry’s over most restaurants in the area and the bartender who closed on July 17th was awful! We haven’t had bad service like that in a long time! Very disappointing.
Harmoni was my server and she was very friendly and attentive. The food was served very fast. I think I got my food in 5-10 minutes at 530pm on a Wednesday evening. Also I had a question about the Czech beers but decided to go with something else but the bartender was kind enough to bring 2 samples of the Czech beer just in case without me asking which I thought was awesome service. Will be back!
Was a random decision to stop by here and didn't really know what to expect. Gotta say, this is a really, really nice restaurant. Sat at the bar where I was served by an awesome and attentive bartender. Even the locals I sat by were very friendly and talkative! Bartender recommended me the "West Coast" 😉 Animal Burger. Legit tasty smashburger that's way better than the west coast restaurant it's styled after 😁
Loved this place. My partner and I wanted a casual dinner out Harry’s didn’t disappoint. Would totally go back. Our server was great!
Rachel and Miles were friendly and welcoming at the bar. I was traveling on business and alone so the conversation was most welcome. The beet salad was excellent. I try to eat mainly plants, so I asked for the dressing and the feta crumbles on the side and they cheerfully complied. I will come back!
Nice place for a meal and get together.Large beer selection and great food especially the burgers.Nice clean restaurant fast seating and great service.
Invited out with family, I have been reserved in my eating out at public restaurants simply put, service and food quality/value are generally in decline everywhere. Harry's does not disappoint in any category that you have. Great hamburgers, and I am a fry person, and these fries were fresh hot and seasoned just right. The beer was cold, and the burger was hot! The wife and kids enjoyed their meals as well but let's be real, this meal was for me.
The staff at Harry’s is always so welcoming and helpful. Great service, strong drinks and yummy food.
Second time dining here and they did not disappoint. Blackened mahi mahi cooked perfectly and very tasty. Sat at the bar and ate, bartender was friendly and gave great recommendations. Looking forward to coming back a third time
Harry's was great! My burger was DELICIOUS! and their cocktails were amazing as well. Or waiter was friendly and helpful and gave great suggestions.
First time here to share a meal with our two sons and their families. I made a reservation and they were able to accommodate our party of 9 in a roomy, round corner table. Our server, Q, was outstanding. So friendly, attentive and welcoming. We all had a terrific time.
Jayla was so sweet and was such a lovely server to us tonight. Absolutely wonderful lady! We are definitely coming back to hope to see her!
We had an excellent dining experience at Harry's Downtown. The food was delicious, especially the crab dip, which was our favorite. The atmosphere was also enjoyable, feeling like a vacation oasis on the patio with warm weather and music. We ordered: ✅Crab Dip ✅Penne Alfredo ✅Roasted Beet Salad ✅Carnitas Tacos ✅Pear and Walnut Flatbread
Harry's has a ton of competition in a foodie heavy city. Soooo many good restaurants and we just keep coming back. It is just so easy and relaxing to get good food here. The menu isn't over done, and has enough variety and interest to be fun. That said I asked for a custom burger, with items all clearly available on the menu. :( said they 'couldnt' do it... Hmmm and got our side wrong... But still yummy
Out with family and this place was suggested, I'm glad it was because the atmosphere was nice. As soon as we walked, we were greeted and seated. While waiting on my drink, I couldn't help but notice the pictures of all the dog photos on the walls. Our server suggested the crab dip with the most flavorful pita bread and the onion rings for appituzers. They were both delicious and a nice serving size. I had the bbq salmon string beans and mashed potato, and that was a really good choice because it was good. This will be on my list to visit when I go back to Fredericksburg, Va
Food , was ok my salmon was meh , the flatbread was not flavorful at all what I liked the most what’s the service our sever “Q” was outstanding!!!!!! Great job !!!
Really nice (new waitress) who did a Wonderful job I went there with my Son and Daughter We got the pretzels and Beer cheese and Onion rings they were both delicious. We all had the Blackened Mahi Mahi with cilantro rice and garlic butter r👀broccoli . I will definitely get that again. Eat here for sure. Two thumbs up for sure 👍👍
Harry's downtown is awesome! Service is excellent. Heather was knowledgeable and friendly. One of our favorite places for dinner. Food is delicious! Try the fries!
Went here not knowing anything about the restaurant. Got sat in Marleighs section. She was absolutely amazing and couldn’t have been more attentive and accurate with our order. The food was the best I’ve had in a while from any restaurant. Couldn’t believe the taste and the fries were cooked to perfection. Will definitely be coming back and hopefully Marleigh still works there cause I will sit in her section!
We sat outside on the patio and it was a beautiful day. I expected it to be busier with how big the farmer's mark it was but it was pretty relaxed. I had the roasted beet salad and it was really tasty on a warm summer day. Really enjoyed coming here and they had some nice options that weren't your standard fare.
The server was delightful and helpful. I had the Charleston Chicken Handheld. It had a nice big fried chicken breast that was moist and very tasty.
I was very impressed with the shrimp. The Best in the word with chilli sauce. They can endorse me and I will promote them everyday lol.
Harry’s Downtown in Fredericksburg might actually be a front for a very tasty cult, because my whole family left fully converted. I ordered the Burger of the Month, the Spicy Wrangler, and this thing pulled up to the table like it had its own theme music. A 7 oz patty dusted in house western rub, dripping with cowboy butter on a glazed bun, stacked with pepper jack, bacon, onion straws, pickled hot peppers, lettuce, and cowboy dressing – basically a rodeo where the only one getting bucked was my diet. Every bite was smoky, spicy, and messy in the best “don’t take a first date here” kind of way. Because moderation is for other people, I also rounded up the Shanghai shrimp, buffalo chicken dip, and wings. The shrimp came out hot, sticky, and full of flavor – the kind of appetizer that makes you consider “accidentally” forgetting to share. The buffalo chicken dip was molten, creamy chaos, perfect for stress‑eating your way through a basket of chips. The wings did their job like professionals: crispy skin, sauced just right, and good enough that I briefly considered ordering a second round and pretending it was “for the table.” The kids ate like tiny royalty. One got the kids burger and fries, the other the kids flatbread pizza and fries, and both plates ended up suspiciously empty with that “Can we come back here?” look only children and golden retrievers can pull off. When kids stop coloring to actually eat, you know the kitchen is doing something right. My wife went for the pork chop meal with broccoli and sweet potatoes, and it looked like the responsible, grown‑up choice… right up until I stole a bite. The pork chop was juicy, the broccoli was actually green (not the sad boiled kind), and the sweet potatoes tasted like they were auditioning to be dessert. She called it “really good”; I call it “dangerously close to me ordering it next time instead of my usual burger problem.” Service‑wise, Harry’s felt like hanging out at a friend’s place – if that friend had a full kitchen, a western spice rub obsession, and no judgment about how many appetizers you “need.” If you’re anywhere near downtown Fredericksburg and hungry enough to consider making questionable life choices, start with the Spicy Wrangler and work your way across the menu!
We often dine in downtown Fredericksburg and have passed by Harry’s Downtown many times. After meeting a manager a separate night, and after hearing good things about their burgers, we finally stopped in for Sunday lunch with the family. Service: The first impression was a little mixed. The hostess wasn’t very welcoming when we asked about a booth for our family of five (two adults and three younger kids) and didn’t seem open to exploring the option. Thankfully, our server, DeQuandre (Deq?), completely turned that around. He was friendly, attentive, and offered great recommendations. We appreciated his visits as he was energetic and very hospitable, highly recommend asking for him when you visit. Food: We started with the buffalo dip. It comes with chips, but Deq was awesome and add some pita, which was a great call. The pita was slightly crisped (almost lightly fried) but still soft inside and paired perfectly with the dip, which had great flavor and good chunks of chicken. For burgers, we ordered the Spicy Wrangler (March 2026 Burger of the Month) and the Whiskey Burger. The Wrangler had a lot going on but the flavors worked well together. The Whiskey Burger was delicious, the sauce was a bit sweeter than I usually prefer, but the bacon was excellent. Only critique would be the burgers were slightly underdone even for medium, but still enjoyable. The onion rings were a standout, though the breading-to-onion ratio leaned a little heavy. The fries were decent but nothing particularly great about them. Atmosphere: Casual and open, but fairly loud. Even though it wasn’t very busy for a Sunday lunch, the music and bar noise made it a little difficult at times to hear others at our table. I wouldn’t consider this a date night type atmosphere, more casual open dining. Drinks: Solid beer selection with enough variety for most tastes, plus a small cocktail menu and a selection of wines. Overall: Harry’s Downtown is a solid spot for a casual lunch or dinner. If you’re in the mood for a good burger, or consider yourself a bit of a burger enthusiast, it’s definitely worth checking out. This visit was positive enough to plan another visit to explore other delicious sounding menu items. We’ll definitely be requesting Deq when we return! Thank you!
Late post from my visit about three weeks ago, but it’s still worth sharing. Had a great experience at Harry’s Downtown. The service stood out right away. GM Dillon took the time to walk us through the menu and explain the direction they’re taking the restaurant. You can tell there’s real intention behind what they’re building. Jess was just as impressive—knowledgeable, welcoming, and confident when breaking down the dishes and overall concept. Nothing felt rushed. They made sure we understood the flavors, pairings, and what makes each item unique. It’s clear the team isn’t just maintaining the place, they’re focused on elevating it. That leadership and energy shows. Looking forward to going back and seeing how it continues to grow.
Brendan gave us an amazing experience! Best service we’ve had at Harry’s! He was super personable, even remembered our names throughout our dining experience, and was very kind and attentive! Thank you, Brendan!!!
Harry's provides exceptional food and service. I first visited in December 2025 for a celebration and came today to celebrate my daughter. The server, Jordan, was Awesome. He was kind, pleasant, professional, helpful and courteous. The co-owner, Dillan, was also Phenomenal as he's worked to create a warm, welcoming and hospitable atmosphere! Also, hats off to the chefs and ktichen staff! If you haven't tried Harry's, please go and enjoy this Incredible restaurant with its Amazing staff!
Wow, first timer but now a customer for life. Emily, our exceptional server, started with a big smile and a warm welcome. When asked for her personal recommendations were spot on, from our appetizers, Brussels sprouts and a few orders of great wings, to an amazing burger, the crispy onion rings, paired with a great local brew. The meals were amazing. Keep smiling and Thank you again Emily.
Very nice meeting place for friends or relatives meeting from opposite directions ; I was Richmond, my sister Manassas. They validate parking at the parking garage next door. We had a Reuben and a salad with a large piece of Salmon. Both were very good. Love the dog picture gallery!
Fantastic meal. Fantastic service. Great food. Highly recommend this place. Awesome food and drink selections. Right in downtown. Prime location. They also validate parking so that’s a win. Helpful staff. Tried the burgers which were cooked to perfection. Wife had the BLT which was excellent. Perfectly crispy and seasoned fries. Will definitely be eating here again. Appetizer was the pretzel bites.
Harry's is my go-watering hole in downtown Fredericksburg. The food I've had has been consistently good. The reason I go back time and again is the service. Sarah is one of the most outstanding bartenders in the area. The rest of the staff is likewise friendly and professional. The music is always phenomenal, especially when Katie is the manager on duty. The woman just knows great tunes.
My family and I go to many downtown restaurants - and this is one that I can say has really turned around! Everything from food, service, drinks, etc. has been exceptional the last 3-4 times we have gone. Management has clearly put forth significant effort to change the culture of this restaurant. Staff is always kind, helpful, and cheerful. We have never had a single issue with food, and it also comes out in an extremely timely manner (we have littles - this is a must!). Really thankful Harry’s downtown has become another one of my family’s “go to” eateries.
The service was excellent at the bar - polite, cheerful and energetic. There is plenty of seating, the drink selection is broad, and the Reuben Eggrolls were yummy. Helpful hint - park in the garage on Prince Edward Street, come drink and eat, and they will validate up to two hours of parking.
We didn't intend to have dinner here. We walked past heading to another restaurant, noted the cute logo, and kept going. After finding the wait at the intended restaurant to be much longer than we wanted to wait, we headed back the way we came. Popped in to see how long the wait was, not long at all, and we were delighted by all the cute dog pictures all over the walls. We waited outside, they had benches right by the door. When it was our turn, we got a nice booth, comfy, not too noisy spot, with a great view of the walls for my friend's hubby to look at. There were so many choices that it was hard to decide, but our server Emily, who was absolutely amazing, helped me narrow it down. Honestly, everything about the evening was fantastic. The food, the atmosphere, the service. Emily was friendly, helpful, and funny. We live nowhere near here and are already trying to plan our next trip up in a way that will make Harry's a stop next year.
Very nice people! The service was impeccable. I was greeted right away by friendly staff. They have great indoor and out door seating as well as bar seating. The beer selection is vast enough for the most discerning connoisseur! They also have wine and liquor selections too. The food is delicious and highly recommended the Reuben egg rolls that are made in house. There are TV'S for sports watching. The establishment is clean and inviting. Next time I'm downtown and looking for a spot to kick back, have great food, be around nice people and friendly atmosphere, this will be my first choice.
Stopped by Harry’s Downtown for lunch and had an awesome experience. The new ownership is clearly making a difference, in a great way. I came in for a couple beers and some good food, and they nailed it. The staff helped me pick the perfect beer, which I really appreciated. The burger was spot-on, and the new beef tallow fries were a standout, crisp, flavorful, and a noticeable upgrade from before. Healthier and tastier? Big win. Service was also on point, friendly, quick, and attentive. You can feel the positive changes already. Definitely looking forward to coming back soon!
Great experience! Our group ordered 7 different meals and all were good. Only thing not great was that the fries were pretty over salted. Our waitress was very attentive, quick service, and friendly. They have indoor and outdoor seating, regular tables and bar seating. Atmosphere was not too loud. Good for families, couples, or large groups. Street parking out front, free parking garage on the end of the block. In walking distance from many other things in downtown.
Nice restaurant to visit. Service was excellent - waitress attentive, efficient and friendly. Menu has a nice variety, but not overwhelming. Decor is a bit industrial, but it is bar. Definitely worth going back. Prices were fair. Portion sizes very good - I was full, but not overwhelmed. Did not try the extensive beer menu. Also has a broad cocktail menu.
I enjoyed the beer selection here, but the food was only okay.
The food here is always pretty solid. They always have a interesting specialty burger on offer. The mixed drinks are always a bit hit or miss here, I would not get the lemon drop. Service is always really solid though even with bigger parties. Our server last time said their was new owners who planned on getting rid of the dog pictures, I really hope they keep them !
I stopped by and tried the mashed potatoes and pretzel sticks with my family, and both were great! The mashed potatoes were creamy, buttery, and had just the right amount of seasoning, comfort food done right. The pretzel sticks were warm, soft on the inside, and perfectly golden on the outside, served with a delicious dipping sauce that tied it all together. The vibe of the place was welcoming, and the staff was friendly and attentive. I’ll definitely be coming back to try more from the menu next time
Overall the food was great, just the wait was a little longer then what I expected.
Downtown Fredericksburg is quaint a very nice. It's a great place to stroll with a lot of cute shops. We discovered Harry's, a fantastic restaurant with delicious burgers and AMAZING fries. This is a casual place, qith a large bar. It has the atmosphere of a sports bar. The fries are the Bomb! They are fried in beef tallow and it sets these fries apart! I had a blackened mahi sandwich on a brioche bun with jalapeno slaw. It was perfectly prepared and had just the right amount of spice. My partner ordered the Savannah Burger medium rare. It was juicy and delicious. It was topped with pimento cheese and was super tasty. This was a great meal and we enjoyed every bite. We would definitely eat here again! It's next to a cute ice cream shop, so save room for a delish treat!
The restaurant has a nice feel to it, we liked the layout and the pictures of all of the dogs. The menu offered many options. We tried the korean wings (the sauce was good but i prefer my wings crispier) and also the reuben egg rolls (delicious). I had the Burger Royale, which was very tasty. It was cooked perfectly and the bacon jam was very tasty. The fries were kinda bland and a bit cold. I was not overly impressed but definitely try a burger and the egg rolls.
Went down on Monday night for burger night, crab dip appetizers was good but we ordered out burgers medium well and we didn't notice until we had put our toppings on and took a bite that they were medium well. We didn't complain but my bottom bun was soggy with blood. Our server was very pleasant
This is a place we usually visit. The waitstaff was inattentive. Took almost 20 minutes to get water, food came out and was cold. Our waiter was busy having sidebar conversations with other tables and came to our table only twice. The nachos here were horrible, tortilla chips sprinkled with shredded cheese that was not melted.
The food was just okay. They asked me how well done I wanted my salmon and then still sent it out undercooked. The buffalo chicken dip tasted like cheddar cheese with chicken in it. Our server was nice at first and then part way through our service she because rude and disengaged.
So to be fair this was our last resort place for dinner on a Saturday night. Fredericksburg was busier for dinner than we are used to so we didn't get reservations like we should have. Overall the restaurant was loud and a bit overwhelming. The food was OK but not fantastic. The NY Strip was tender and cooked great but very under seasoned. The km k on the other hand were ovllan myd almost too salty. The fried pickles w mymere well seasoned before they were fried and pretty good but not enough to raise the score.
The Louisiana pasta was warm but tasteless. Maybe I had a bad batch but there was no taste at all. The salmon was slightly overcooked. The service was decent though.
First time going to this location. Went on a Friday around 6pm but able to get seated right away. Service was slow but we know lots of places are understaffed so we are patient. I ordered chicken and waffles and my wife got the Cajun pasta. Both dishes were just okay. C&W were warm in temp, flavor was fine. Pasta was okay but not spicy at all. The server was friendly but inattentive. My water was half full when she dropped our food off and I should have asked for a refill but I just assumed it would get filled at some point. It never did despite her walking by a few times, she just didn’t stop to check on us. We are not in a hurry to go back.
My wife and I tried Harry's a while back and were very dissapointed. We wat at the bar, where the service was mediocre at best. Any time we wanted something we had to wait and wait for the attention of the server. Worse, though, the food was bland and unnattractive. I'd rather eat off a food truck. All in all, we won't be eating at Harry's again and suggest you give this place is a pass as well.
Came with a large group and our meal was hit or miss. Burger and fried chicken sandwich were great. Steak salad was okay. Folks in our party enjoyed the clam chowder. Don’t bother with the beignets but do order the silk pie.
Just another place that can't decide whether they're a pub or sports bar or restaurant. Nothing special about it. The food was average (fried pickles too salty and burger undercooked). Service was average. Atmosphere was typical pub trying to be trendy - open factory, high ceiling, concrete floor, sound like a loud empty echo. No character.
Ok experience. Dissatisfied due to the fact that upon receiving the check we noticed a charge for “add” cheese to a burger that already came with cheese. We were not informed or menu provides any indication that if you choose not to get the cheese that is on the burger there would be a charge. Surprises like this unfortunately give customer dissatisfaction on the entire experience. Not the place to order beer, everything is overcharged (perhaps the tariffs are at fault). Food was good, the Burger Royale was well prepared, came with the requested term A+ (would order again), fries that came with it tasted good and are like McDonals literally, and the Mahi plate was decent (the best was the rice though).
Actually not a bad place but they definitely have some areas they can improve on. I had the shrimp tacos. They were actually pretty good. But I ordered the garlic butter broccoli as a side which is a $5 charge because it's considered a premium side. Now considering broccoli isn't considered premium anywhere in the world, this has to be some epic broccoli. Well it wasn't and the portion was disappointing too considering the price point. You know how much broccoli I can get for $5. Anyway, didn't taste much like garlic butter. Also my kid had the flatbread with fruit. Looked like canned fruit. The chicken focaccia meal my wife had was actually spot on. Service was pretty decent and the dog themed thing I just didn't get. Well it wasn't bad just not something I would try again personally. But always willing to try out something new.
I’d say the RT 3 location is far better. I got a Charleston Chicken sandwich with left over bacon and cold pimento cheese here.
Never knew this place existed until tonight. We wanted to have a few drinks before our reservations at another place in town. First impression of the place was "ehhh okay, let's see". It was pretty crowded at 6pm and that's understandable. We sat at the bar and had a couple drinks. Beer selection was pretty poor. The food looked OK, but we didn't want to ruin our appetites, so we just got the chips. They were pretty burnt, not too good. The bar tender was having a pretty hard time running and controlling the bar. Didn't do too well. And some big girl got drunk at the bar and kept saying food was hers and ate someone's food. She would sporadically start pound the bar top like donkekang. Pretty annoying, not too good. Bartender watched it happen, maybe it was strategic or not who knows. Probably will go back to give the rest of the food a chance.
The food is OK for the price you pay, but the special was really just a burger and a chicken sandwich with (frozen) fries, and it was nothing different from a fast-food chain burger. Beer selection is vast and good. Service is fast, and servers are always kind.
I was going to spot Sedona Taphouse across the street but they were on a 45 minute wait so we decided to try this place. There's a reason why this place was empty and the other restaurant was completely full. Our waitress was young and didn't understand the beer menu at all or really any of the alcohol sections. I tried and app Ruben egg rolls and it was blah. Since it was 1/2 wings, I decide to give that a shot. I ordered the hot honey and it was way more honey and hot and the side order of fries were cold and stale. Not going back.
We have lived here since 2003 and normally avoid downtown like the plague. Limed parking, marginal over priced restaurant fare, along with the fact that Fredericksburg is drinking town with a history problem keeps us away. We were in town and opted to do lunch at Harry's due to a few of the reviews here. Very clean and wait staff attentive. Menu has a bit of everything. Appetizer order of the Ruben bites was not very good. They had a light pastry type wrap that was fried and contained some type of sweet taste. The double cheeseburger special was very good and had a charbroil taste. Fries were limp. I got an order of the sweet & spicy wings to try and they were very tough along with the coating tasting like traditional wing sauce. The non traditional shrimp and grits the wife ordered contained numerous items and a weird Marchand de Vin: Red Wine Reduction Sauce not found on traditional SC low country S&Gs. The addition of green pepper strips and andouille sausage just added to the less than original desired taste. Stick with the stone ground grits, bacon, shallots, and tomato paste to make the real thing. It will probably be another 20 years till we venture downtown for a meal. *Note this review was completed without using ridiculous undiscriptive terms like out-of-bounds, OMG, on point, awesome, the bomb, yummy, delish, to die for, do your self a favor, trust me, or kids emojis etc.. i Describe the food, service (or lack of) and provide details on the cost/copy of check and include pictures! Is the place clean? No disrespect to the employees but no one cares about the waiter/waitress/clerk names, or if they look like they fell face first into a tackle box. They get changed like underwear and you don't get to pick one. No we don't care about your allergies or the need for gluten free food. **If you see a Google review posted with just stars & no text, report it via the 3 dot selection adjacent to the review. Was very enthusiastically told to go here for an authentic beef on weck by a local. Being from the western NY/NW PA area, I love the sandwich and have had many. This sandwich tasted very old. They had the proper roll, tasty aujus and good fries. But the meat on the sandwich was dry, tough, and tasted very old. (Gamey and tough) pretty disappointed when hearing the owner was from Western NY that this would be acceptable. Go Bills.
We were really looking forward to some of their (formerly famous) fresh cut fries at Harry's downtown, but it was a bit of a letdown. The menu advertised fresh-cut fries, but what we got were clearly frozen, coated fries that tasted stale. On top of that, they were out of every beer my husband requested. The food was just okay — nothing special. Honestly, Harry's at Harrison Crossing is much better — the food, service, and overall experience are far superior there.AND they have fresh cut fries LOL. Disappointed with the last few visits! 😕🍟🍺
We first visited Harris Ale House over five years ago and had such a disappointing experience that we chose not to return. This evening, we intended to dine at Sedona Taphouse; however, their patio was closed, and we had our dogs with us. Consequently, we decided to give Harris Ale House another chance, but unfortunately, we were let down once again. While the beer selection is extensive, we found that many options were unavailable. We ordered fish and chips, requesting a substitution of onion rings for fries, as well as a beet salad with chicken. Upon receiving our food, we immediately noticed that the dish came with fries instead of the requested onion rings. We informed our server, who took the entire plate back. As a result, I was left with my salad, which was missing the sweet potato croutons, while my husband had no meal. When his dish finally returned, the fish was cold and soggy, as were the onion rings. I requested the croutons for my salad, but by the time they arrived, I was already more than halfway through my meal. The "croutons" turned out to be mushy chunks of sweet potato that had clearly been microwaved, bearing no resemblance to traditional croutons. If you are considering adding meat to your salad, I would advise against it. I added chicken to mine and received only about half of a chicken breast for an additional $6. My salad consisted of lettuce, strips of canned beets (not pickled, just plain), less than a tablespoon of bleu cheese, a teaspoon of pumpkin seeds, a generous portion of pickled red onions, and approximately half of a chicken breast—all for $20. I have had far superior salads at Panera Bread. In summary, we regret spending our money on such unsatisfactory meals. It appears that the quality has not improved since our initial visit.
The quality was not as good as their other restaurant. The burger was dry, and you get like maybe 10 fries as a side. They didn't even have the beers they advertise having. There's a lot of good restaurants downtown, I wouldn't come here again.
When it comes to the expression "truth in advertising", the mascot/icon for "Harry's" really lives up to that...because this place "went to the dogs". I walked by on a Sunday afternoon and only three people, including the manager were running this joint. Lots of out doors tables had plenty of dirty dishes waiting to get picked up. The service was slow. Waitress in charge of setting you up with a table was nowhere to be found, she was taking food orders. Most people walked in and helped themselves to ANY table. One full time waiter and the manager in a supporting role. Leading to slow service and even missing orders (a cocktail). The waiter went behind the bar and made the cocktail. The food was mediocre. Burgers overcooked. When it came to pay our check, the waiter dropped it on our table and walked away mumbling something that sounded like "whatever". I will never set foot at this joint again...and neither should you. Overpriced, overcooked and understaffed...
👎👎👎👎 We went across the street to Sonoma but the wait was too long. We saw Harry’s was relatively empty so we decided to give it a shot. Bad move. We got sat and went thru the process fine but the issue was more about staffing. Considering it was Father’s Day you would staff appropriately but nope. Our waitress was over sat, service was slow and lacking. When food came there were all kinds of issues. It tasted ok but nothing that would make me want to return. A few times we needed immediate service and I had to go fetch the items myself. We had high hopes because the place looked entertaining but we were severely disappointed. My Father’s Day fell flat on its face here. Eat somewhere else. 👎
Unfortunately, the food wasn’t what I expected. The taste and quality were poor, and I didn’t enjoy my meal. I hope the restaurant can make some improvements because I was really looking forward to trying it.
I waited forever for service! I sat at the bar and it was crowded and I waited over 10 mins before one of the bartenders took my order despite them seeing me while they talked to customers on both sides of me without acknowledging me. I was going to order food but decided not to when no one came back to take my order after 10 more minutes. Then after I finished my beer I couldn't get anyone's attention for another 10-15 minutes, while they washed glasses, moves tables and talked to people. The bar was full but it wasn't that busy!
