One of the must place to visit especially if we are in Catalunya. Appreciate the efforts that Generalitat de Catalunya made for tourists to have Rack Railway (the only way to reach valley top) Nuria. Rack trains are good enough to commute and they provide free parking as well at Ribes de Freser stations. Overall my experience was awesome and luckily we went on right day at right time with full of snow ❄️ and sunny 🌞 climate.

Relaxing valley with a small lake with facilities to eat and drink. You can have a picnic also. We always went there in good weather and always enjoyed but it should also be a great experience to visit under snow. This last time there were also some activities and rides to enjoy with family. To access the valley there is a train you can get on from Ribes de Freser or several other stops. From Ribes de Freser it takes less than half an hour. The short journey is enjoyable through a valley with several small waterfalls. You can plan to pass 2-4 hours in the valley or overnight in the hotel located in the center of the valley. The photo is from the peak you can climb by a 5 min teleferic ride from the valley. The valley itself offers much richer views which you can discover yourself.

Worth the trip, stunning scenery and cable car. Toilets, restaurants and picnic spots. Think the lovely sunny day helped a great deal

Spectacular views, we visited in May when there's not many people so you can enjoy the views pretty much to yourself Make sure to bring sufficient clothing as it can be quite cold and windy (4-8ºC)

Fantastic place to spend a day or a week! I went there in March (low season-almost no tourists) it was incredible! I traveled by train from Barcelona Sants to Ribes de Freser (~2,5 hours) and stayed there, I took a train up to the valley next day(also there’s a stop right at the train station or in the center of Ribes). The train goes every two hours but for timetable and price check their website, they update it so it’s accurate:) once in the valley you can take a cable car even higher! (Already included in the ticket price). There’s loads of hotels available around and even in Nuria, which is great if you spending days hiking, there’s loads of trails! 😍 In winter time there’s a rental place for skiers and snowboarders. Also in the church building they have a restaurant (which is closed during lunchtime lol), and bars where you can get some snacks. There’s also a place in the ground floor where you can have a picnic and eat your food that you brought with you. Overall, it was a really nice experience, can’t wait to go back during summer 🥰

Wonderful place to visit! Crystal clear air, astonishing mountain views, clean spring water, skiing in the winter, hiking in the summer. Dog friendly. Great walking trails. Snupi had a great time!

I travelled with my family on a car from Barcelona to Ribes de freser and stayed there at 'La Casassa de Ribes, Ribes de Freser' which had a beautiful scenic view and we could hear the cow bell ringing from a farm downhill. It was so serene getting away from busy city life. On the way to Ribes de Freser we had our lunch at 'el piños' (temporarily closed) and the food there was also good with very friendly people to take care of you. The caretaker of the homestay was very helpful to guide us to Nuria as we were new to the place. Nuria is also beautiful. My 3 year old daughter loved the slides on the snow. It was breathtaking and so so beautiful from the top.

A hill resort worth visiting. I was on vacation in Barcelona and took a day Trip to Vall de Nuria, a Ski Resort, close to the French border. This is one great option for a day trip from Barcelona. If you have multiple entry Schengen Visa you can visit a tiny country Andorra, which is around 100 Kms from Nuria. The easiest access to Nuria is by the Rack Railway, which leaves from Ribes de Freser and takes about 40 minutes to climb the 12 km route. The train passes through some spectacular countryside, at a very slow pace. The train station has a museum of old trains too. Nuria houses a large hotel as well as historical buildings, and is situated in a valley surrounded by the high Pyrenean peaks. It is probably more popular in the winter ski season, but escaping the scorching heat of Barcelona in August wasn't ’t bad either. There is a manmade lake, overlooked by the hotel complex. Boating is a great way to explore the valley all around. We reached Ribes on car, it has a free parking so you can park your vehicle and proceed to Nuria. In all it was a great day, the valley is beautiful, and different from most of the other attractions in the region, and for us it was well worth the effort.

Lovely place. Family/ date/ adventure with friends/ friendly for Val de Nuria. I went there 3 weeks aho with a friend. we went to Val de Nuria and hiked Mt. Puigmal. Views were amazing. Hike wasn't that bad at all. Very doable even for beginner. A bit steep for beginner but still doable. Transpo time is a bit limited. you have to catch the train back or you need to sleep at Val de Nuria. you can bring a car, but you need to parc it and take the train to Val de Nuria. I guess there are other options but this is what I know.
