Vaqueros Mexican Grill Gladstone Reviews
Vaqueros es el mejor restaurante mexicano de Kansas City!! Very kind and warm staff. Our server was there with chips and salsa mere seconds after we settled in the booth. Let me say, I'm not the biggest fan of refried beans but this place makes beans I would guzzle by the funnel-load. *chefs kiss* Do yourself a favor and go order anything from this place. Great lunch specials and margaritas will knock you on your culo.
Excellent food, great service. Along with the standard Mexican restaurant fare are several dishes that are less conventional but very appetizing. Prices are very reasonable. Definitely not your run-of-the-mill commercial Mex place, and well worth the visit.
I think this is the best Mexican restaurant in the northland. Very authentic. Fantastic chips and salsa. Guacamole is amazing. And their house Margs are the best around
My family and myself ordered several things that were bomb! This was our first time going there and everything was fresh and authentic. Let's start with the appetizers. -Espinoca queso & guacamole dip, FIRE as in GREAT! The queso was the first to go and we'll worth the money. -Chips & Salsa, The chips were warm and if their warm they were made fresh and the salsa....... Put of this world. The salsa had so much flavor and freshness to it were my kids wanted more. Perfectly "salsafied" with cilantro. Next is the entrees. We've pretty much ordered Enchiladas, Chimichangas, Burritos, and Fajitas..... All dishes were bussin' and seasoned to perfection! And you can't sleep on their refried beans. We tried the fried ice cream. DELICIOUS!!! If you order this be prepared to share this with someone else, maybe 2. Our waitress was awesome. She refilled our drinks and kept the salsa & chips coming without missing a beat. I wish I remembered her name but shoutout to her. The epitome of what great customer service is. I'm mad we haven't tried this place out sooner. This definitely will be our new spot going forward!
Hey, so we decided to check out MI Ranchito on March 16th at night. We were driving to another restaurant, but it was closed. When we got to the other restaurant, we noticed it was closed, so we looked online to see what else was close to NKC. That's when we saw MI Ranchito was open. When we arrived at Mi Ranchito, my friend and I walked in and a server told us to go to the front to the hostess stand. We walked up there and were greeted by a really nice server named Ashanti. She was super fun and energetic. We ordered two drinks, a Peach Margarita and a Sangria. The Sangria was good, but it didn't have any fruit in it. The chips were hot and airy, and they were so good! The salsa was great too. I ordered the Cancun Chicken, but they were out, so I ordered the LaCreme Chimichanga instead. It was so good! The sauce came on the side, so I could pour it on myself. Next time, I'll try the Cancun Chicken. The server was awesome and the food was delicious.
Food is always great! Service was exceptional as well. We ordered the queso dip with a side of refried beans(mix the beans in with the cheese dip for an amazing dip 😋), cream cheese chicken enchiladas(my favorite), a beef and pork burrito, and some margaritas. The food came out quick and was great as always. Great place for an affordable date night with some great food and drinks.
I have only been here a few times but this place seems to do everything well. Salso so tasty and fresh I have to stop myself from eating too much! Usually get fajitas but this time I tried the Acapulco shrimp tacos. Delicious! They were very conscientious of my husband on crutches and put us near the door so he wouldn't have to go far. Above and beyond, Muchas gracias! We will return to try more from the menu.
We eat here often. Our favorite Mexican restaurant. Great food. Great service. Complimentary queso dip is such a treat.

We love this place. We try other Mexican restaurants but always come back to Vaqueros; great food, reasonably priced, friendly servers, cold beer and a comfortable setting.
Authentic Mexican cuisine with margaritas that are spot on. The waitstaff was attentive and ensure the drinks were coming. The chips were fresh and came with both salsa and queso. Highly recommend the tacos. Particularly the carnitas and chorizo. They offer daily specials that no matter the day all look delicious

Dirty bathroom dirty menus dirty restaurant. Nice server but not very attentive. We were told hostess stand in the back after standing in the front for a few minutes. All staff seemed put out and were hiding in the back And restaurant was a mess. Booths were uncomfortable worn out and dirty. Will not b going back.
This was our 2nd or 3rd trip in. The food is very good. Service was great before but this time when we came in we were given a dirty look by the older lady when we walked in and were asked to wait to be seated. A moment later the younger waitress led the 3 of us to our table. We were seated at 1:30 ordered our food by 1:40 and somehow charged dinner prices when we received our ticket at 2:10pm. In the meantime we were not ever asked if we wanted refills on drinks, chips, or salsa, and were only given chip crumbs in the first place. $4 they upcharged us on 2 "specials". When asked about it the girl replied, "well, some people order the dinner". Don't think I'll be back, pretty disappointing to be treated like that and then charged more for it.
Very disappointing ordered the Vaquero Fajitas which is the name of the restaurant and should be a staple. Order mix Chicken and Steak they brought it out 4 half inch strips of chicken and steak. Cook must have more Guero than me I can make better Fajitas than that, the rice was cold, the plate was ice cold and the Guacamole had already oxidized. Salsa Roja and Salsa Verde were good
So , we're regular monday night attendees until now. Service was terrible. We asked for clarification on how one drink was made because we could taste no alcohol in it.And when the second drink came, it was just as bad.Neither drinks were drank and we were charged for both of them. Ordered a chicken tostada And when it came ,it was so soggy it completely disintegrated onto the plate , Ended up making a taco salad out of it with the chips off the table. It absolutely felt like our server was avoiding us at all cost.Because they were aware , there was an issue. Literally head to ask for water three times. It took an extra 15 minutes or more to settle and rectified. The situation with the bill.
Friday Oct 3rd. Table 61.Tkt G29.About 8 pm we ordered fried tacos. Ive had them a few times before. Usually theyre pretty good. It appeared they didnt drain the ground beef AT ALL!Tonight they litteraly had grease running out of the shells continualy. Not just dripping here and there. Its was almost pouring out. So much so that I placed a napking in the middle of the puddle of grease in my plate and it got totally saturated. Im not exaggerating a bit. I cant believe I didnt send them back. Not smart of me. Ive never been served anything so greasy in my life. It soaked the shells making them fall apart. Mentioned it to my server Hector who didnt seem to underdstand or care. I noted it on the reciept and didnt tip as well as usual. Vaqueros really let me down. Probably will not be returning. I do know that Ill NEVER allow anyone to serve me something like that again, much less pay for it. Vaqueros should be ashamed to have such poor quality cooking,i.e. not draining the grease, but also for dipping that grease with the meat into my shells. How could you do that to people? And shame on me for not refusing it. Ill never make that mistake again! Goodbye Vaqueros.
Got the special fajitas. More onions than anything. Michela....very poor. save your money
CAUTION!!! BUG IN FOOD On September 7 at 12pm me and my wife went to vaqueros after church for the first time. My wife ordered the fajita lunch special. We were 10 minutes into our meal when my wife notice something in the cheese sauce, It was a huge water bug. We were so disgusted, we will never go back. Please check your food before eating it...
Used to love this place so went to check it out again today since the rename. Ordered the Mango salad was originally brought the wrong food but that's fine and the salad looked a little wilted but tasted okay so took a to go box home. I just got it out of the fridge and was eating it and found a piece of plastic wrap in it!😭 Probably will not go back.
I'll start with this, we've eaten here quite a few times and always thought they had really good margaritas and food. Never had a bad experience there UNTIL today. I am not sure what's going on but it is not good and service stinks. Ordered drinks, I ordered a regular lime margarita on ice, the waiter asked me if I wanted "the 1800 special" I asked if that was the tequila and he said yes, so I said "sure". It came in a regular glass (not a stemmed glass) with a slice of lime, orange and pineapple on the rim with a maraschino cherry plopped in the middle. I knew right away it was not what I wanted, tried to convey that to our waiter and he said this is the 1800, I explained to him that I wanted a lime margarita not a tropical flavored one. Needless to say he never got it, AND would not just take it away until after I took a sip and told him "no, I don't like it", he then said he'd take it back and get me the lime margarita that I originally asked for. It came back out in the same glass with no fruit on the rim and he said it was the lime "house" margarita. Due to the language barrier I believe he just wasn't getting it. I took a sip and it barely tasted any different, I think he took all the fruit out of it and threw a little more margarita mix into the glass because I almost immediately started getting heartburn (which I get with OJ or pineapple juice). Then our food came, and it just got so much worse. My fish tacos smelled and tasted terrible, my husband's food was also not tasting very good but he couldn't figure out exactly what was wrong with it. Needless to say I didn't eat anything off my plate and we didn't see our waiter again until he brought the bill. He asked if we wanted to go containers and we said absolutely not. He didn't ask what was wrong, no manager came to try and figure out how to make things right, something has happened since we were last here a couple months ago. This was our go-to Mexican restaurant, but not anymore! I have included pics but these are of the food we LEFT on the table. We also didn't finish our drinks. It was absolutely awful! The chips and salsa were the only thing that has remained the same and they were very tasty, but not worth our $60+ bill when we left all our food and drinks there because it was so disgusting.
