Village Pizza is praised for its delicious pizza, especially the pepperoni. Customers love the soft and crispy crust, generous cheese, and flavorful taste. A recurring complaint is poor service, particularly for those who don't speak English.
Tip: The pizza is a good option if you're hungry and in a hurry.
The crust is perfectly crispy, and toppings are generously portioned, creating a satisfying flavor balance. The friendly staff adds to the overall positive dining experience. Village Pizza is a top choice for delicious, no-fuss pizza in town.
Warm, cheesy slices for cool wintery walks. The perfect spot for a quick slice on the go—though there are some indoor seats if that's your thing. Service was fast, friendly, and delicious, just the kind of place to pop in mid commute. Take your slice across the street and enjoy it on a bench at Jackson Square. Share some with a squirrel or a sparrow even though the signs say not to, help a lost tourist find there way, or joy soak it all in with a delicious slice from Village Pizza in your hand like I did.
A basic pizza place that is worth a stop if you are going through the west side looking for a quick bite. I had a simple slice that told me to grab another
Basic NY slice that is fairly large in size. A little cheesier than the average slice and on the greesier side with that. You get some amount of crunch from the crust, but at the same time it is a little chewy. The sauce is okay with a bit of canned oregano consistency within. Overall this is a regular slice, and the cheese is probably the highlight of the slice.
That was my first slice of NYC pizza and I wish I can go back and do it all over. I had the best convo with a man who I believe his name was Mike, forgive me if I forgot bro, I was tired and hungry 😂. He let me charge my phone and we just had the best convo and he taught me a lot about NYC. Great little spot for a quick bite and every bite was worth it. Not a place to dine in with a lot of friends so get it to go unless it’s just you.
I lived on this stuff for a week while I was staying in the Village. 🍕 Best pizza in Manhattan, hands down.
Excellent pizza with a great selection of flavors. Staff are also friendly.
A little hole in the wall, but that's all they need. Great slices & great customer service
One of the best pizzas of my life❤️
The service is fantastic and the staff is fantastic, courteous and friendly, the food is excellent. A wonderful place to enjoyy life.
Best crust I’ve ever had in my life!! This was a great recommendation! We will def return next time we are in New York!
I love this place. I use to live right next to it, and now even though I have moved I still walk over to it to get my pizza.
Absolutely the best pizza I’ve had in New York, and I’ve had a lot! No wait for your pizza and the staff is very nice.
Sadly they're currently closed due to a problem with ConEd and the gas for the building. I sincerely hope they survive this hiatus because this institution has, bar far, the BEST pizza in the West Village.
Pizza was fire. Great service as well. 10/10
Amazing place. I've tried pizza from all over the world and all over NYC. This place is among my top 5 in the entire world (Italy included)!
Great pizza (cheese slides off the slice!!!) Friendly workers and nice environment + the amazingly good food.
Simple, quick, cheap ($3-4 per slice) NY-style pizza. My go-to spot for a quick dinner.
Great traditional pizza. Best slice in the area. Always fresh
Small cozy place with good pizza. Had buffalo chicken and broccoli chicken slices and both of them are good
Best pizza in nyc, perfect sauce. Perfect crust and its a great enviroment. Most recommended
Great pizza. Prices are well worth the massive slices on offer.
Best real New York City pizza.
This is also one of my favorite pizza spots in The West Village. Delicious pizza with a sweet, saucy slice.
Dinner and a show. Great pizza and the guys were friendly and funny
Exactly what they promise, nothing fancy, nothing more than ny pizza. Tastes good, good service
I'm from California & nearly lost my mind when i had this pizza. Next time I'm in Manhattan I'm for sure going to stop by.
This place is incredible!! They had so many vegan and vegetarian options and delicious food!! I highly recommend going here!! I felt like an accomplished tourist trying some new York pizza lol Tho fyi they don't have a bathroom if u needed to use one.
Great New York style Pizza 🍕, even they had no ham pizza they made out for us out of Margarita slide 😃 Doesn’t look like from the outside, just try an easy it at the park across the street
Excellent pizza, friendliest staff we've met in New York! We took a fresh full margherita pie, highly recommend!
Best pizza I've had in a while. It wasn't fancy, but it was everything I wanted in a slice. Quick, low cost, friendly.
Food was amazing, just got into the city and instantly had an awesome meal, had four different slices, chicken with broccoli, spinach and ricotta, cheese,, mushroom. Everything was top notch, will definitely come back
A great place to pick up late night pizza by the slice. They also had a good selection of pizza to choose from.
After getting lost and walking around in the sleet for an over an hour, we stumbled in soaking wet hoping for a tiny pick me up and inadvertently found the BEST PIZZA of our entire trip to NYC. 😍😍😍 💯 recommend. We will definitely be back!!!
Although the appearance is not flashy and big the pizza was WONDERFUL and reasonably priced. There pizza was fast to come and hot. There is not a lot of room to sit but if you get a chance and enjoy your pizza you will love it either way they have great pizza.
Best pizza in NYC!!! It's a must have! Been coming here for over 15 years and still so damn delicious!
The slices are big, the pizza is tasty. Fast, friendly customer service. Definitely stop in if you're passing by.
One if the best slices ive ever had in my life! The staff were very welcoming and friendly! Ill definitely be coming back here on my next trip to nyc!
A great NY slice. One of the best slices of pizza I’ve had in a very long time. Reminded me of the pizza we grew up with.
Fantastic old school pizza. Love finding these hidden gems in NYC. Plain slice is great delicious cheese and fantastic crust. Cash only of course
Great place to eat, very nice service. Pizza was delicious. I recommend you to try if you haven’t had the chance.
pizza was delicious and the customer service was great, young girl at the counter was such a sweet heart. i recommend this classic pizza spot!!
They're pizza is delicious and they have other kinds as well, so come on down and have a slice for your life with friends and families.
Everything you heard about NYC pizza is all behind those doors. Too good to put into words so you should make it a point to just try it.
Just stopped in Village Pizza on a chance shot. We were walking toward West 4 street and notice the Pizza shop. My friend was a little hungry and had planned dinner for much later so we stopped for a bite. What a wonderful surprise. We ordered pizza with extra cheese and it was absolutely fantastic. They smothered it with extra cheese and the crust was crispy the taste wonderful. A great experience in all. Service was good employees friendly.
I am rating this place five stars compared to other sold by the slide street pizza shops. This was definitely my favorite spot to grab a "slice" during my week in New York, and I visited with a few spots. They just had the tastiest pizza with the perfect amount of topping for my taste.
Awesome pizza. Quite possibly my favorite in the city. I usually stick to cheese or pepperoni. Not greasy, slight crunch all the way through, crust is great (Thin, NY style, of course) Can't ask for more. Their "everything seasoning" is an absolute must. Be generous. Place has a few tables inside to chow down, good for pickup or delivery. Cash only. You won't be disappointed.
One of the few remaining real NYC slice joints these days. It's not much more than a counter and a couple small tables but if you want authentic New York pizza this is your place. Slices are big, toppings are fresh, you're in, you're out, it's pizza.
I've been going to VP for many years. A little neighborhood pizza shop that makes an amazing New York slice. One of my personal favorites is the chicken and bacon slice. I also love the pepperoni and cheese roll and the hot dog roll. Those guys are always so nice to me.
The pizza was so good, I asked for it to get warmed. The service was great, the Mexican guy in the store is really funny and creates a great vibrant atmosphere in the pizza place.
To my taste, it’s the best slice in the neighborhood. Great structure, perfect amount of cheese. It’s the platonic ideal of a standard nyc slice. I love that they have an “everything” spice mix. I always try and fail to duplicate it at other spots. To eat a village slice topped with the everything spice is to eat the perfect gritty NYC slice.
I loved the pizza, so crunchy and tasty. The owners have been very kind to me and the spicy chicken one is so great!
I stopped by after smelling the pizza from outside and it was worth every minute! David and Laura gave us great customer service and put extra love into the pizza! Would definitely recommend for a late night bite or a quick meal on the run. Fast, easy, and delicious :)
Pizza deliciosa, masa suave y crocante, mucho queso y mucho sabor.
Village Pizza is the tiny pizza place that most folks are sleeping on…the pizzeria is clean, has a couple of tables for dine-in, and has that old school vibes in an updated space. takeout and delivery seem to be the bulk of the business here. this pizzeria serves classic NYC plain cheese slices—and that is the only pizza you should get here. a somewhat thin crust, flavorful sauce, and a smooth melty layer of cheese. the crust has crispness and the eventual soft chew; the sauce has isn’t sweet or salty, but nicely balanced; and the cheese is stretchy and blobby. the thin layer of grease/oil that doesn’t need to be dabbed off completes the taste experience of a NYC slice shop. there are topped slices and pies but the magic is with the plain and simple. plain slice runs $3.27 + tip the service is friendly and relaxed.
The pizza was nice. I tried the bacon and pepperoni pizza. The flavor was nice and it was a good option as a late night snack. The servers were friendly, too.
A little shop that's offers a good slice of pizza. Fresh toppings, and the the crust was perfect. Perfect New York slice.
Very tasty pizza with thin crispy crust however the establishment is small with only three tables for dining in. Also it is cash only!
Pizza great, almost didn’t order at all though because of how hot it was in there!
Very good, quick. Thin flat pepperoni, thin crispy crust. Semi sweet sauce, oozy cheese.
Decent pizza, a bit small and a bit expensive for a slice. If you are looking for $1 slices, they're definitely not here.
Pretty good - not the best pizza I've had in NYC. Better reheated.
No special about these slices, which is precisely what makes them so damn great. One of my favorite cheese slices in NYC
Excellent pizza. Generous toppings. Crust was thin & crunchy. Tasty sauce.
Just got a plain slice. Loved it! Cheese + crust + sauce were all delicious
I'm from out of town and I popped in walking home from the hotel one night. A very tasty slice...in fact it was much better than other more expensive options in the general area.
Good place to come for a quick slice of NY style pizza. Crust is right, sauce and cheese are good. This is how it's done. Tiny spot with counter service and 3-4 two person tables.
Pizza. Typical, wonderful nyc street pizza. I think I found my substitute fix for when Mezza Luna is closed on Sundays. One drawback is that there is very little seating. Price: $5 Overall: A- Frequency: Once Last Visited/Updated: March 2011
$4 for a good but not amazing fresh mozzarella slice. Tiny shop with limited seating space and no restroom. Wouldn't return but didn't regret stopping in.
Pizza was good, table wad dirty had to clean myself. Kind of pricy, but then again everything is pricy these days.
Simple, easy slices. Very classic, NYC casual pizza situation. Payment logistics was a little awkward but no biggie. The pizza itself was really tasty and totally worth the few dollars.
Nice pizza joint for a quick bite. Classic thin and crunchy crust with great toppings. But stick to the classics, pepperoni was amazing as always, but the sausage pizza was a waste of carbs.
Old faithful neighborhood spot. Guys in there are the best, always friendly. The AC was down tonight and supposedly won’t be back until SATURDAY. Get those guys some fans at least! It’s well over 100 degrees in there with the ovens running.
Solid slices of ny style pizza. The margherita is really good! The crust has a light crisp but still chewy. It holds up well in the margherita. The spinach and mushroom one didn't hold up as well but delicious. The cook was efficient and polite.
Pizza buena. Te saca del apuro si tienes hambre
A very small neighborhood shop with three tables. Pizza is ordinary. They also have various heros. If you really and absolutely must have a slice, this is your place.
Stopped in for a quick bit to eat. The place is small so I suggest to grab it to go. No public toilet! The tables are uncomfortable close, the place looks dated and as usual cash and food is handle with the same hand. The pizza is about average.
The entirety of the cheese topping slid off on the first bite. The taste was decent though.
Easy, fast, and good pizza by the slice. Service is brusque but efficient. Limited and unpleasant seating, so order to go and eat at the park across the street.
The pizza was not bad, but not great. It was missing flavor.
Same old pizza slice. Service was good, location convenient.
This was my favorite pizza place in NYC for 20 years but the last two times I went (4 and 2 months ago) the pizza was bad. Maybe pandemic supply chain issues made it hard to get regular ingredients but the cheese was oily and flavorless and the tomato sauce had a very dull flavor. Hope you rebound Village Pizza. NYC needs you!!! UPDATE: went back to Village Pizza a few days ago. The good news is the quality of cheese was vastly improved from the oily, flavorless cheese they were using a few months ago. The bad news is their tomato sauce still has very little flavor. No sweetness. No tomato pop. Just meh. Come on Village Pizza. Go back to your old ingredients and get back to being NYC’s best pizza. (p.s. your crust and underside dough of pizza is still a work of art).
Typical New York pizza. Great team inside. Overall the pizza in anyway average. The location show all its years and looks at the eyes of a tourist like a little American icon. They accept only cash. 5/6 seats are available inside.
I tried two slices during my first visit: a regular slice (good) and a buffalo chicken slide (bad). The buffalo chicken slice was dry and flavorless. Sadly, I just wanted to get carbs in before hitting nearby bars, so it did the job. Four tables for two, cramped space, typical pizza place.
The pizza is alright here. I usually come for a single during lunch. Today was busy for them - about 4 customers - and so maybe that’s why all of the staff were high strung. Two toppings on two slices ≠ $4.00. Give it time this business will die as the neighborhood grows. It won’t take long. It could be successful with more intentional practices, but the capacity isn’t there.
First they gave me the wrong order( which they did correct). The pizza itself was served lukewarm and tasted low quality and old. The buffalo chicken pizza was terrible. It was drowned in sauce and just gross. I have never met a slice of pizza that I won't eat until I went here. I took a couple bites and threw it out, I didn't know it was possible to make pizza so bad. Stay away, do yourself a favor and just go around the block to Rosetta pizza for a better slice!
My friend ordered a pizza and it was burnt, how you can sell this kind of pizza? And the service could definitely be better
I tried the pizza here once, then again, and then again...and that was the last time I went back. I don't like the taste of their pizza, and it didn't taste fresh.
March 16,2022 i ordered two cheese slices the male employee behind the counter was very rude to me and two women. I have been going there for many years he had a nasty attitude!!😡😡😡👎👎👎
There man who makes the pizza is very impudent and rude, and he is very uncultured, which of course spoils the reputation of that restaurant. I will recommend all my friends not to buy anything in that pizzeria. 03/06/2023
The worst pizza I’ve ever had in my life! Seriously everything was wrong with it , under cooked and the sauce it’s the worst can ever have. Stay away from here PLEASE!!
Despite being within advertised business hours (about 10 min after opening) and with available pizza at the counter, owner/worker refused to serve me or even respond to me - just waving me off over and over again. Childish behavior. Maybe his watch is stuck 30 minutes behind? I spent my money elsewhere since I guess they didn't want it.
pal at the counter can’t recognize what the phrase “can we do separate order?” means, can’t comprehend what “and can i get dr pepper “ is as well
First time eating at this establishment yesterday. Had the worst experience as a customer, manger threw money on the counter expected me to pick it up & proceeded to get into an argument. He called me all sorts of homophonic slurs and insults. He wanted to fight me over lose change that was on the counter. I don’t recommend this pizzeria. There’s better pizzerias a few doors down that would provide better quality food and services.
I had a really disappointing experience at this pizza place. We came in as a big group, all ordering slices to go, and the staff member behind the counter completely lost his cool. Instead of being accommodating, he started raising his voice at us because we needed several boxes for our slices. It was honestly embarrassing. We were just trying to enjoy a quick meal, and he seemed frustrated by the simple request. I get that handling a large order can be a bit much, but there’s no excuse for treating customers like that. The pizza was decent, but I won’t be coming back after that experience. Definitely not worth the hassle or the bad attitude.
