We never miss a visit to Bistrot Caraibes when we visit St. Martin. It is by far one of the best restaurants in the Caribbean. The lobster thermidor is a must-try and every dish on the menu is top notch. What makes the place most special to us the the warmth and care we always feel from the staff. Nadia is so kind and so much fun. Thibault and Amaury have breathed such passion and enthusiasm into this gem of a restaurant; it’s a joy to visit. See you again…and hide the ginger rum. 😁

Every year we come to St.Maarten for vacation, Bistro Caribe is our #1 spot. BEST Thermidor not just on the island but the world!! Going back tomorrow 😁

We had such a great dinner for 4 here in April 2025. We sat for the second seating at 8pm on a Sunday night.. Reservations definitely required. The fish dishes and lobster were the best we had in our one week stay in the islands. Top shelf. The only dish we didnt love was the lobster bisque, which was more of a strong broth without any pieces of lobster. Service was attentive and perhaps a bit sassy. If you are looking for formal snooty waiters this isn't your place. We closed the place down and it felt like family - just great food in a very welcoming environment. Great food and great experience. Make sure to call a cab 30 minutes before your dinner ends. We didn't do this and almost got stuck. The restaurant is so nice one of the employees going our direction offered to give us a lift. Dinner for 4 with multiple courses, a big lobster and two bottles of wine was about $500. Definite do not miss if you are visiting the island!

We visited this restaurant in Grand Case on the French side of SXM and enjoyed a delicious dinner. The fresh salad was just that and presented beautifully. The French onion soup was exceptional and the best I have had out of 4 restaurants so far. The scallops were tasty as can be and the shrimp fettuccine was very good. Service was attentive without being in your face. Prices are fair and what you expect on the island. With so many restaurants we recommend this one go your list.

We had such a great dinner at Bistrot Caraïbes…everything we ordered was absolutely delicious! The highlight of the meal would definitely have to be the Lobster Thermidor (signature of the house chosen) It was honestly out of this world, zero regrets. The lobster was so tender and buttery, the sauce was beyond anything I could have ever imagined. We also ordered the Veal Scallopini, The veal was thinly sliced, incredibly tender, and served with a creamy sauce with a hint of blue cheese and sautéed mushrooms underneath. For dessert, we shared the hot chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream, truly the perfect ending to the meal. Every bite was just wow, to say both dishes were outstanding is an understatement. This place is a must visit absolutely worth it. Delicious food, great atmosphere, and an all-around fantastic experience.

Fantastic restaurant in the center of Grand Case. Been here twice now and both meals were excellent. I also appreciate they have acoustic padding on the ceiling that absorbs noise.

Bistrot Caraibes is phenomenal. The French onion soup was even better than what I have had in many places in Paris. The beef tenderloin has the most insane sauce served with the creamiest, melt in your mouth mashed potatoes I’ve ever had. And to top it all off, the crème brûlée and molten lava cake were to die for. I will be coming back to SXM just to come to this restaurant!!!

Beautiful ambiance and service. AMAZING Lobster Thermidor and French onion soup. Made a reservation a week in advance for 6:30 PM Thursday (right after sunset). Picked out own lobster 3lbs / 1.25kg was $116 (perfect for sharing). Fun experience in Grand Case!

Was able to walk in despite it being very popular (we really got lucky). Lively fun restaurant with very friendly helpful staff. We had a delicious meal, food has generous portions and a delicious well priced glass of Bordeaux. Too full for dessert but the options were tempting.

This was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The staff were friendly and helpful despite a very busy service. The quality of food preparation was at a Michelin star level. Their signature lobster thermidor was truly sublime and I still have daily cravings for their shrimp fettuccine. I would highly recommend this spot to all. It was definitely our best dining experience on the island.

My wife and I had a wonderful dinner here, even as a tropical storm came through Grand Case. Great good, friendly service, and good atmosphere. The Lobster Thermidor was excellent, as was everything else we tried. I hope we'll be able to dine here again in the future!

We found this restaurant for my wife’s birthday dinner and they delivered a great experience. We really enjoyed our food. We had the escargot and French onion soup which were both incredible. Our entrees were fantastic as well. Our group had four different entrees which included the scallops, duck, lamb, and snapper. We would recommend this restaurant for a nice dinner.

5 Stars - A Grand Case Gem Bistrot Caraïbes is everything you hope to find when you’re searching for an authentic, welcoming dining experience in Grand Case. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was wonderfully relaxing. It’s the kind of place where you can actually unwind and enjoy your evening. The owner was present, knowledgeable, and genuinely attentive without being overbearing. It’s clear this is someone who cares deeply about their restaurant and their guests, and that attention to detail shows in every aspect of the experience. The food was outstanding. We had both the lobster and the trigger fish, and both were cooked beautifully …fresh, flavourful, and expertly prepared. You can taste the quality in every bite. The wait staff were polished and attentive, striking that perfect balance of being available when you need them while giving you space to enjoy your meal. True professionals who clearly take pride in what they do. This is the kind of restaurant that makes you fall in love with Grand Case. Great food, warm hospitality, and an atmosphere that invites you to linger and savor the experience. We left completely satisfied and already planning our return visit. If you’re looking for a delicious meal served with genuine Caribbean warmth and European expertise, Bistrot Caraïbes should be at the top of your list. Highly recommended.

We were excited to try this place as we heard the food was good and we thought the menu had variety to our liking. The food didn't disappoint, everything was good. We had smoked salmon, beef carpaccio, foie gras and French onion soup. We ordered the hot chocolate cake and creme brulee for dessert, they were both great. The service however felt lacking. No warmth, no pleasantries, just take the order and drop it off. Didn't ask how everything was, just not welcoming or engaging. We actually thought of going back even with the subpar service because the food was just that good, but we decided to try La Villa instead and that met all our needs and was truly a 5 star experience. If youve read a few reviews on Bistrot, you'll see others who mention the service, and if you prepare for it, and only care about the food being amazing, then definitely visit. Overall, we would return and hope good service ends up being a bonus if they continue to serve great tasting food.

5 Stars Bistrot Caraïbes is a charming French restaurant in Saint Martin with excellent service and a warm, welcoming vibe. We came for dinner without a reservation but were seated inside comfortably and treated to friendly, attentive service throughout. The French onion soup was a standout, and the entire meal was delicious. It was a truly enjoyable dining experience, and we’d be happy to come back again!

Located on the French side of the island, this French restaurant came highly recommended and I really enjoyed it. My fettuccine with shrimp was very memorable. That shrimp was seasoned beautifully! If you’re a fan of lobster, this place is known for allowing you choose your own lobster. It’s great for date night, a celebration or if you just want to get out for a nice dinner. The service was also wonderful! Our server was attentive and welcoming!

Super busy restaurant. We attended as a group of 4 and each ordered different main courses. The filet steak was overcooked, as was the red snapper. The lobster thermidor was one of the best we have ever had.

We enjoyed the food here, especially the lobster. They really do it well. The seabass was amazing as well. The downsides were the noise level and the service. The acoustics in this place make it hard to hear your table. Also, the service was struggling a bit when we were there. They are definitely not trained to the levels of other top restaurants in Grand Case.

This evening we drove to the French side of the island to have dinner at a French restaurant Bistrot Caribes. We'd gone there last year and had an incredible experience. Impeccable service and food that was unbelievably excellent. Not so much this time. Service ranged from fair to good. Things like long spans of time between server visits even though there were plenty of staff and the restaurant wasn't particularly busy. And nobody checking how our food was after it was served. And a server starting to take a wine glass that wasn't empty without asking if we were finished with it. The food was a mixed bag. The french soup a l'onion was average. It was kind of bland without much of the usual melted cheese around the bowl. One person in our group had a lamb shank special that was excellent. Another had scallops that weren't very good. Third person ate a filet mignon steak and it was great. My seafood boullabaise was somewhat lacking. It was a small portion, there were 2 shrimp and a couple clams, and the rest was fish. And it wasn't bad, but it definitely wasn't great. For dessert each couple shared a creme brulee and those were pretty good.

Highly overrated. Service neglected our table of 3 all evening. Wife and I ordered lobster. They took her to pick hers and then didn't come back to our table for me to make my pick; had to chase down the lobster guy. Waiter never asked about the side for the dish, so we had to track down another waiter for that. Table of 6 next to us went to pick their lobsters about 5 min after us and made a show of it taking lots of pics. Somehow their food can't 10 min before ours. Our wine glasses sat empty, had to track down another waiter for another glad and we got no lol at the menu to pick a different wine. Lobster tasted like it sat under a heat lamp for a while before we got it. Side dishes came 5 min later. Child's chicken nuggets were forgotten. For €240 I wish I'd bought us a day on a catamaran instead.
