Maki Of Japan Grapevine Reviews
I love this place! If I know I’m coming to the Grapevine Mills Mall. I already knowing I’m eating here. The teriyaki chicken is the best. It comes with mixed vegetables and your choice of fried or white rice, or noodles. It’s made fresh right in front of you so it’s always SUPER HOT! If you’re reading this and can’t decide. Go ahead and try it. I’m sure you’ll love it as much as I do.
Maki of Japan is a standout in the food court dining scene, offering exceptional Japanese cuisine that feels more like a restaurant experience than fast food. Whether you’re craving teriyaki, sushi, or hibachi, this place delivers consistently delicious, high-quality meals that won’t break the bank. The teriyaki dishes are a must-try—tender, perfectly seasoned chicken or beef served over fluffy steamed rice with a side of crisp, sautéed vegetables. The flavor is rich and authentic, with just the right balance of sweetness and umami. For sushi lovers, the rolls are always fresh, beautifully prepared, and surprisingly flavorful for a food court setting. Their hibachi plates are another highlight, with generous portions of protein, vegetables, and fried rice, cooked to perfection. What truly elevates Maki of Japan is the excellent service. Despite being in a fast-paced environment, the staff remains friendly, attentive, and efficient. Orders are prepared quickly without compromising on quality, making it a perfect option for a quick but satisfying meal. The cleanliness and organization of their station also stand out, showing their commitment to maintaining high standards. Overall, Maki of Japan offers a fantastic combination of affordability, taste, and convenience. Whether you’re on a lunch break or shopping and need a flavorful pick-me-up, this spot consistently delivers. It’s rare to find such care and quality in a food court, and for that, they deserve a glowing five-star review. Highly recommended for fans of Japanese cuisine!
That have great food service and if you buy 4 dishes one is free. I’ve got mine free so it was awesome. Totally going back when I’m in town
A great find in the food court. I ordered the Mongolian Shrimp with noodles and vegetables. A big helping of shrimp. Tasted great but spicy. Better buy 2 bottles of water LOL. Cost was $18 including 1 bottle of water.

Many reviews mention the free sample guy, but we found them charming and having a fun personality. It was clear they have a good time at Maki of Japan! I tried the teriyaki sample and it was amazing, but I got the orange chicken and noodles with veggies. My wife and I both compared it to Panda Express, but she thought it was better than Panda Express and I’m inclined to agree. At the register, the guy randomly said the drink I got was free and we could have free refills—super nice, something they didn’t have to do! Super yummy. Great people.
I truly admire the employees for their patience with difficult customers while doing their jobs. The food is excellent, the staff is friendly, and customer service is top-notch. No restaurant is flawless, but some complaints can be about the most trivial things.
Go there hungry walk a bit and u know exactly where im eating the chicken teriyaki is incredibly delicious and always made fresh employees working there are always hyped up looking like they enjoy their job which gives the customer a positive experience while waiting for the food
This place was extremely good, food was amazing service felt a bit rushed. Food was fresh it was a little loud but you could hear clearly, amazing place would recommend it.

Normally when I eat out, it’s just whatever. Sometimes I feel like crap. But not this place. The food powered my soul. I felt it in my heart. I will be coming back.
The food was delicious. They gave me a very large portion for a reasonable price. They also gave me a handful of napkins. They didn’t cheap out. Would recommend and visit again
Mexican workers here acted like fools by whistling and yelling for customers to come. The food was fine, but make sure someone is 100% Mexican before you speak Spanish to them.

I like these food but when coming to satisfactions I don't like it they give very little today I got very little of noodles they charge extra for noodles but give very little amount it's $9 just for the plate but if you want noodles you have to pay extra I think it's $2 it's pretty expensive before pandemic it was only 50cents extra for noodles and the plate was $6 so yes it's a very big difference.

Been here once before with friends and the food was serviceable but not the best. The main issue is the free sample hand-outs. I am a frequent at this mall, coming to the food court maybe 2-3 times a week, and every time I do however there is always the person with the free sample tray there. In the past it hasn’t been too bad but lately it has gotten a lot more aggressive. The person handing out samples still yell at you to get to try a sample but will even actively walk in front of people to stop them in their tracks and shove the tray in their faces. I wouldn’t normally write a review like this if this hasn’t happened multiple times. I know for me personally and a lot of the friends I come to this mall with we all choose not to eat here BECAUSE of the harassment from the free sample servers. I would be happy to try eating here again if this service got fixed but until then this is a place I would recommend staying away from

Update 09/06: I tried to give them another chance, but because of the music blasting so loud I had to keep repeating myself over and over again just to get the right food. If you’re going to play music, which I am to have fun at work, make sure it’s at manageable so that your customers don’t have to keep repeating I've been a regular at Maki of Japan in Grapevine Mills for a while now, but it's honestly getting harder to justify coming back. The employees are always rude and disrespectful customer service seems like an afterthought here. To make matters worse, they always stop serving their most popular dishes (like my favorite bourbon chicken) more than an hour before closing. If you're going to post closing hours, at least offer your full menu until then. Cutting off the best items early just tells your regulars that their business doesn't matter. I’ve given this place multiple chances, but the pattern never changes. This kind of experience makes it really easy to take my money elsewhere
The appearance of the store looks like you’re going to get good food but they just talk fast and give you a little bit of food. I ordered the orange chicken with white rice and I have more white rice than I do orange chicken next time I’m just gonna stick to the Kelly’s Cajun Grill next-door. Orange chicken is bland and it’s extremely hard to chew.
Not what they look like or sound like. Should have order Sonic or Taco Bell. Workers are not even friendly. Slap the meat on there and you have to pack your own to go box.

We said to the person no veggies with the food. When we see the other guy we tell him both in English and Spanish that the food was with no veggie. With his loud music he ignored us. Then when I finally got his attention and tell him that it was no veggies in Spanish and he said that we were wrong and didn’t even tried to fix it or give us the time. The food may be good but the service is very poor!
Employees are RUDE as hell. The sample guy is the nicest one and that is what reels you in. Once you get to pay, that dude is rude. I asked for napkins and the guy didn’t want to give me any. He just waved his hand at me like for me to go away. I honestly wanted my money back but my son really wanted this food. Never coming back here. Food was mediocre at best!
The worst of the entire food court. Extremely rude and very unprofessional. I get it's a food court restaurant, but at a very minimum I would expect the people taking orders to be able to answer questions about their menu. As I ordered my first entree I informed the guy taking my order I didn't want any meat (fried rice and mixed veggies as offered on the sides menu). I then asked about what came on the kids menu and the guy screamed "NEXT!!!". I told him I still had more to my order (with my daughter standing in front of me). He again screamed "NEXT!!!" and then walked away. Another guy then walks up. My no meat order had orange chicken on it. I told the 2nd guy this was not supposed to have any meat... his response was "yes it's the orange chicken". I told him I ordered only fried rice and veggies... and he responded sarcastically with "our orange chicken comes with chicken". I requested a refund.
What a bad experience this place ay the mall. All team members are the worse. I was confused and there was a plate and I thought was a sample dish. And all Spanish speaking employees started to scream. I apologize for my confusion but they continued arguing and offending me for my mistake. Worse team members, disrespectful and not education at all. Will never go back to that location or any place with that name.
The man handing out free samples stood in front of me while I was walking and would NOT let me and my family pass! His constant harassment every time I walk through the mall is exhausting. I do NOT recommend going here or supporting this kind of behavior.
Older guy at the counter was the epitome of rude. Accused us of ordering the wrong food when we clearly pointed to what we wanted. Then wants to slam our food on the counter and get an attitude with us. Food was okay but service was absolutely abysmal.
