I visited the KFC / A&W restaurant in Grass Valley, California the other day and had an outstanding experience. I ordered the special, which was 2 pieces of chicken, biscuit, and mashed potatoes with gravy. I also ordered the chili cheese dog and an A&W root beer. All items were served fresh and hot and tasted great. The A&W root beer really hits the spot! The restaurant was clean, 2 restrooms were available, and I had no problem parking. I will be back!

Update 7/23 The situation is vastly improved. Drive through orders are correct and when they did miss 1 item they doubled that item and filled my order before I left. It's KFC so you know what you're getting. The customer service is soo sooo much better now. The employees don't seem like they hate you, their jobs, and their lives. They're helpful and kind. Bravo! Update 3/3/22 & 3/4/22 After many months of working out of town we decided to try this Grass Valley KFC again. I had low expectations to begin with but they still managed to disappoint. I pulled up to the drive thru without placing a mobile order because of past bad experiences. I checked the signs on the lobby doors and there was nothing stating they were closed. It was just after 6pm. There were already 2 cars in the drive through so I thought all good. Then I sat and waited and waited while the first car waited for about 15 min at the drive through speaker. They finally pull forward and stop at the window. Second car followed the first. I pull up to the drive through speaker and wait for another 15 min with no one coming to the mic. Meanwhile cars are piling up behind me. One guy gets out of his car and tries to walk inside and the doors are locked, so he walks up to the drive-through window and comes back and tells me that he can't see anyone inside. 10 cars had to turn around and leave. As I was passing the drive-through window I can see the mic headset and a hat sitting on the counter next to the window and personal belongings on the tables inside. I decide to pull around the building and find that suddenly there is a message on the lobby doors saying they are closed for maintenance that was not there before. I tried again the next night with the same results. Lights on, no one is home and sign is still up about being closed for maintenance, with personal belongings still sitting on tables inside. This can't even be called a restaurant anymore. It is still literally the worst place to attempt to get food in Grass Valley. The only thing I can think is that all of the employees quit and walked off the job. This place closing would actually be a blessing for GV. Older 100% of the time they get my order wrong and leave large portions of my order out. They always take a minimum of half an hour to get an order ready, no matter what I do. Even ordering online with a pick up time, they take half an hour past the pick up time. They don't attempt an explanation. They don't try to make up for the inconvenience of extra wait, or repeated trips to their store that take 15min each way. More than once they gave my entire order to another customer and I had to wait over an hour before I got my food, only to have them leave part of the order out. Literally the worst "fast food" place in GV. If you need fast food ready when you order it, save yourself some time, trouble and frustration and go to Jack in the Box or Little Ceasars.

The food was good. The service was good and fast. The location was good on the way back home in Reno. The bathroom wasn’t clean.

KFC has really gone downhill in recent years. Chicken was over cooked and rubbery, fries were cold. Ice machine is broken so soda was warm. Had clean interior, but really not worth 15$ for 5 tiny little overcooked strips. I won't come here anymore.

Hot, fresh, and good, BUT, on a slow Wednesday night I ordered one item (12 piece classic). Generally you would expect it to be 3 of each piece, but, it was 8 legs, 2 wings, 1 thigh, and 2 breasts. I thought well I should be happy the kids working in fast food count to 12, but, apparently they can't.

I haven't driven thru here and had the food available in years. Just sit out front and wait. Customer service was more courteous than in past. A few specials to make it affordable. It's very expensive usually.

I just picked up an order 8:15 PM Wednesday. And the lady boss there was very rude, and was shouting at her employees unnecessarily. I understand the guy was making mistakes, but where is the grace?

KFC app. did not work. Manger was very helpful but we couldn't get our online offerings discount for 20 piece meal because the app was not working. The manger gacw another deal and 2 sides of free coleslaw.

I didn't notice it, but a friend of mine told me they even have a sign up right now that says they are under new management. If that's true, I suggest they try again. The young cashier and server was delightful and is the only reason I'm giving them three stars instead of just one.

Every time I go there my Mac and cheese bowl gets smaller. I'm about to stop eating there.

I ordered Fries and 3 pcs Chicken. Instead I got 2 Pcs Chicken and some really overcooked/over fried disgusting small pieces of chicken. Service was terrible as well. This KFC needs to be closed.

Nothing quite like ordering a famous bowl looking to eat some yummy boneless chickies n mashed potatoes, then getting it home and biting into a bone! A bone in my boneless chickies. Super fun. Zero Stars do not recommend. I guess I will just have to make my own chickie teddies at home.

Ignored at drive thru. Random guy walking around the kitchen talking to employees. No forks/knives/napkins. No sauce, no butter. Cold food. Ordered 3 piece chicken, got 2 pieces.

I went to KFC earlier today, I usually enjoy the food and the service but the last couple of times I’ve been there, I’ve seen a manager practically shouting at the employees. Today, I even heard her cuss at one of them. I believe her name was Lily. I just can’t understand any reasons why a grown adult should be yelling at her teenage employees, especially in front of customers. Highly unprofessional and needs to be dealt with.

Placed an order on doordash, paid for it, and was sitting at home waiting for it to arrive when I got a phone call from my doordash driver saying that he was told that they were out of food?!?. When I attempted to call KFC no one would answer the phone and it was before closing time so I am not sure why that happened. I don't know what happened to this place it used to have decent food and decent employees and now it's just going straight to hell I wouldn't go there if I was paid to do so.

Worst KFC in the world. They constantly run out of chicken before closing & its been ongoing for years now. How can a chicken restaurant not have chicken??? Its obsurd!! Welcome to The Burger Shack. Sorry but we don’t ever have any burgers if its an hour before closing. Why don’t you just close an hour earlier & you’ll maybe still have chicken before closing.

I have been here a few times and the food is good and consistent the dining area is not. In one of the Hottest summers in recent history they fail to keep the AC working. I walk in and it's hotter than it is outside. A customer complained to the staff once and from who I guess is a manager yelled it's been fixed before and they (the customer) should deal with it as it's hot in the kitchen as well. I also had to deal with annoying flys buzzing around as they don't keep the dining area clean. Update: Been a while since I ate here and decided to give it another Go. Had to park and wait to get my Famous Bowl meal. When I ordered it they asked if I wanted the Bowl with the drink or the Bowl with a Side and Drink. I asked for the Side and drink. Gave me plenty of Ketchup packets but no Side....

We got food here, they told me they had to make one of the items fresh so it would take 10 minutes, I said that would be fine. They had told everyone in the line the same thing, so there was no parking, and I've been sitting here for 20 min with 2 toddlers and no food. The last 2 times I've been here have been awful. Doubt I will ever be back...ended up getting my money back and leaving after 45 min!!!! The kid that gave me my money back apologized, but I don't think I've ever had such bad service, anywhere!

My son got really sick after eating there last night! 12/4/2019. You have a lot of bad reviews. Per the manager. Find out what is going on and stop this. This is really bad for business! Also staff meeting to problem solve! Everyone wash your hands! My son is coming in today. Let’s hope he doesn’t Ralph all over your floors! He will let you know how he feels!

I don't even know where to start. My order was burnt and I went in to get a new order because I didn't want to eat burnt food. When I went in the customer service was horrible. They were so rude. Told me I couldn't get a new order, got in my face and refused to help me. She yelled at me and then said she was the shift manager. I asked for the store manager information so I could get a refund and she refused to give me a refund and the store managers information. I had to call support and fill a complaint with them. None of the workers wear name tags so I don't know her name. But she was saying she was the shift manager. Worst service ever. They need to get fired or have a new store manager come in. This is outrageous.

The restaurant was empty, yet it still took more than 10 minutes to get my order because the employee was on her phone the whole time. She was not friendly and seemed bothered. The chicken tasted stale, as if it had been sitting out for a long time. Very disappointing experience . I would not recommend this location.
