Flashback Diner Hallandale Beach Reviews
Not fancy. Not fine cuisine. Just really good diner food. LOTS of HUGE sandwiches to choose from. Meat and two veggie platters. Big predictable breakfasts. Plenty. Of. Food. lol Good coffee. Efficient staff. Open real late (2a, not 24x7 anymore). Seldom crowded. If you’re in the area and hungry - give it a try.
A fun place for dinner. I enjoyed the old picture of Elvis, star trek, titanic, and so on. The food was good. I had the cowboy burger, a cheese burger with an onion rings and bbq sauce on it. It was delicious, would recommend. The staff was friendly, and very accommodating of a large group.
We came at 4am and I got the pastrami sooooo good. We also got the most insane chocolate cake with strawberry ice cream. The best part of the entire experience though was our waitress Stacey!!!! One of the best servers I’ve ever had. To have such a positive happy attitude at 4am is NOT easy. I worked in the service industry for 14 years, I know. She’s a keeper! Thank you Stacey !!
I had a REALLY amazing experience at Flashback Diner food was AMAZING!!! Got the Dick Clark Reuben and for dessert pumpkin pie and EVERYTHING was to my likings!!! Especially have live music in the restaurant!!!!! I’m comin’ back REAL soon!!! No question asked 🤣
Please ask for TAMA! She’s the absolute sweetest and her recommendations for everything was perfect . I didn’t capture a picture of the appetizer (shrimp skewer) . But the chicken and waffle and blue berry lemonade mimosa was amazing . Lots of food and good pricing. PLEASE COME HERE AND SEE FOR YOURSELF.
We got 5 star service, the waitress Olga was very attentive and brought our coffee as soon as we ask for it and the food was ready within 10 minutes of ordered.. she kept coming back to see if we needed something or more coffee... we had a good time in this place.
Great Breakfast all day place. The food was made to order and the waitress was very attentive to our needs. Coffee was hot and refills were timely. The restaurant was clean and plenty of staff. Definitely will revisit.
A great diner for a delicious breakfast. I had the Flashback combo, eggs, bacon, pancakes. Tomato juice and orange juice. Also added hash browns. Everything was perfect. Our server was wonderful. Great atmosphere with classic picture frames throughout the diner. The staff follows all social distancing guidelines. It must be the place to be because it was packed. We got one of the last 2 spots in the parking lot.
We really enjoyed our food, we had the salmon Benedict with extra cappers and onions, and the nova omelette. The omelette came with a bagel, and you know how the top half of an everything bagel has all the flavor, well the bottom half had almost as much, and looked close to the same. The service was very good, Larissa made us feel like she was our mom taking care of us. I think we fell in love with her a little.
I've been coming to Flashback Diner for years and the consistency in the food and service is noteworthy. This dishes are always fresh, the portions are perfect and the servers are attentive and friendly. Great atmosphere for families. I highly recommend the Flasback Wings. Some of the best buffalo wings I've had in South Florida!
It's a very cozy spot and the food (that I've tried so far) is great. It's a no thrills diner but honestly that's the beauty of it, it's all on the food and it's great. A little expensive but I think fully worth it. I only wish they had more hot sauces than the usual Tabasco. Will be coming back many more times.
Delicious food. Delicious omelets made the way you like it. Home fries were good. The pancakes. Great service and restaurant looks good and clean.
Awesome place to eat. We've been there 2 to 3 times and has been always a great experience. Food is very good, the ladies serving are knowledgeable of the menu and will recommend and they are very attentive. Prices are very good for the amount of food they serve. Overall one of our favorite places for breakfast.
I really enjoyed my breakfast and the waitress was amazing. Such a friendly staff. I will definitely try lunch and dinner. I took pictures first this time.😂
I love #AmericanDinerExperience I found this awesome place late after my photoshoot last week Thursday. The Place was really clean, and inviting. I had an incredible cool server, an elderly gentleman, we both had a fond love for #Siracha lol I was so happy to find a restaurant that offered paper straws, with its drinks. Of course the photographer I am the straw got its own photoshoot..lol I dont usually eat beef but always love to try out different homemade versions of #American #Meatloaf. This plate is what the diner is famous for, and so i had some and it was Delish! I hope to visit south florida again some time in the future and try out some other amazing food. I also loooove eggs Benedict and saw they cool versions , large portions for really great price. Cant wait to taste those later this year Thanks #FlashbackDiner
We came for lunch. Our server Olga was outstanding! Olga was very friendly and had a very nice conversation with us. She always came around with coffee and to see if we needed anything. She is the very best!
We recently celebrated my daughter’s birthday at Flashback Diner, and it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment we walked in, the staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive. The food was absolutely delicious, with every dish exceeding our expectations. The highlight of our visit was when they surprised my daughter with a beautiful, delicious cake and sang “Happy Birthday” to her. It made her day so special and memorable. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it the best diner we’ve ever been to. Thank you, Flashback Diner, for making my daughter’s birthday breakfast so wonderful. We can’t wait to come back!
The food is amazing, great flavor. Lots to chose from. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Our server Tama was the best. Would definitely eat here again.
There’s nothing I didn’t love about this place. My kids had a hamburger and chicken tenders, I had a Philly cheesesteak, and my husband had a gyro. The Philly was one of the absolute best I’ve ever had. The way the meat is prepared is so flavorful and tender and it’s on a really tasty toasted roll! We bought some sweets for our kids from the cake and pie cabinet on the way out, a red velvet cookie and a brownie. We are very pleased with everything. Even the staff was so sweet, from the server to the girl who stopped what she was doing to grab my son who couldn’t decide on what to get, a brownie on my way out! I’ll be back!
Unassuming on the outside, amazing food inside! I'm so glad we stumbled upon this place during our stay while visiting with family @ Aventura Hospital! I wish I'd taken more pictures, but we were hungry & the food was sooooo good! The menu is best described as Jewish-Greek, but there are lots of options for most any palate. Don't miss the GIGANTIC desserts counter when you walk in! :)
Amazing Wings especially when ordered with sauce on the side! They are the perfect amount of crispy! Amazing burgers, my personal preference is the Floridian burger. The service is phenomenal every time. We have made it our tradition to come every Saturday morning to enjoy family time in this friendly environment. 10/10 all of the staff makes it an even warmer environment place.
The "Andy Griffith Turkey sandwich" was delicious. The turkey was very tasty and huge portions of it and the stuffing. The carrot cake might have been one of the best carrot cakes I've ever had. Would gladly eat here again and just might need to return before my flight out
I have been to this Flashback on multiple occasions, when I was stressed out from studying, hanging out with friends, on cheat meal days, and at times just for the French Toast and when I eat in it's always great. I ordered food to go on a Sunday, which was my mistake place was crazy packed, but long story short avoid ordering to take out. Other than that every eat in experience has been great. The thick cut French Toast is what I continue to come back for. I have strayed to other places in the past and have regretted it, sorry I cheated on you. I normally go late night to super late night hours and the staff is always welcoming and friendly. TIP TO THE READER: the place is a bit cold, bring a light sweater or jacket.
As soon as I dropped the kids off to school, I decided to treat myself to breakfast at Flashback Diner. Located along Federal Highway in Hallandale, Flashback Diner feels like one of those layback diners that makes you at home. It has such a casual and comfortable atmosphere with pics of celebrities adorning every inch of the walls and oldie goldie 70's music playing in the background. I was seated very quickly and handed the menu, which offers a vast selection of dishes at decent prices such as: * Salads & soups * Appetizers * Celebrity named sandwiches * Burgers * Lunch specials * Wine/beer/cold & hot beverages * Sides * Seafood * Breakfast items/ breakfast specialties * Specialties & Mediterranean specialties * Omelets * Early riser breakfast specials * From The Grill: pancakes, French toast, Belgian waffles I ordered a large orange juice and a breakfast combo which consist of eggs (cooked the way you like), your choice of bacon or sausage, and pancakes or French toast. It looked amazing when it arrived in front of me. Here's what I thought about the food: * Orange juice - I usually don't like pulp in the orange juice, but it was so refreshing and I didn't mind it * Bacon - very tasty & crispy * Scrambled eggs - Nicely cooked. Just had to add salt & pepper to it for taste * French toast - Six thick delicious slices with a hint of cinnamon, and I ate every last piece of it It was a very enjoyable breakfast. I came in with an empty stomach and I'm leaving very stuffed. I also noticed that the servers in Flashback Diner gives exceptional customer service. Each of them are knowledgeable about the menu, and checks on their tables in a timely manner to see the customers need anything or if things are to their liking. Same can be said about my server, Larisa, who was such a sweetheart. I'm definitely gonna come back to this diner again.
Really enjoyed eating breakfast here. I saw mixed reviews but we didn't have any problems. The French toast was delicious and came with lots of fresh fruit. The biscuits and gravy were good. Nothing special, but still good. The service was good and our waitress was on top of things. I would definitely eat here again
The pancake-wrapped bacon and home fries were pretty good. Potatoes needed a second turn on the griddle. The quesadillas were flavorful, served with a freshly-made pico de gallo. The French toast was delectable, with fresh berries. In the past I've had their turkey sandwich (delicious), biscuits and gravy (outstanding) and several other dishes through the years. Want the best burger in town? Recommend: Ollieburger. Although it says on the menu "50 years" I know for a fact it's at LEAST 60 years since I ate at Ollie's. I'm from Miami Beach. Tasted unlike any other hamburger you can find. Highly seasoned (not spicy-hot), flame-grilled not griddled, served on a perfect bun, is juicy and superb. WARNING: if you order this burger "well-done" you will be escorted off of the premises by the Beef Council. Forget ketchup, mayo, cheese. Those things kill the burger's flavor. Fries are coated with "Ollie's" seasoning--for a fee. Desserts are top-notch, especially the carrot cake and that amazing King Kong chocolate cake creation. Servers are working their tails off because they are so few, friendly and willing. Your coffee will be hot and fresh.
Ok this was my first time here. I went here for lunch it was really cool. They are reasonable prices and the portions are huge. The staff was friendly. The food was great I had the mahi mahi salad it was good just a little too salty but maybe because it was blackened, next time I might try broiled. He got the chicken it was a quarter of a chicken with sides they have great desserts as well. I was too full to get that maybe next time. But I will come back here as well.
I went to this place like three times, morning, during the day, and late at night. All those three times I had an amazing time, the servers were super nice and patient with my friends and me. The only thing I did not like is that one time my pancake tasted burnt and I got the kid's chicken and pasta I did not like how it looks so I did not even bother trying it. Other than that this place is definitely a vibe nice environment, good food, and great people.
Good food, great service all you can want from a diner atmosphere. The dishes were big and priced very reasonably. The service was excellent. I can see myself going back often and trying the different variety of meals. Definitely need to go back and try their key lime pie.
Use to be my favorite homey place and good food Quality went down. They give you other stuff than what menu says and don’t care I walked in and the hostess was upset by something and throw my menu on the table and walked away
Service was stellar. We came in with a party of 14 and our server, Tama, got us seated instantly. She did an amazing job and executed everything perfectly! I got the pancakes which were delicious but very big, so if you have a small stomach I would advise to split. Both me and my little cousin were able to take them down! Another family member got the vegetable omelet which she highly recommends. She praised the vegetables and claims they were fresh and delicious. Several family got the toast and raved about the quality and delicious taste. Overall, this restaurant is a great spot with a very cool retro theme. A nice blast from the past! The music included many classics that my whole family enjoyed!
We went on a Friday night. Thought it would be more busy, but since it was the end of July, it was relatively quiet. Food was good, nothing spectacular, but good. Service was great. As a place to get a bite to eat, it worked for us.
In terms of the traditional American diner experience, this is pretty standard. The food is edible, the place is clean, and the service is stellar even in the late hours of the night. The prices will be more than Denny's, and you would not know why, maybe the stuff on the walls, don't know. I've never been given corned beef between rye without sauerkraut or sauce or cheese and told it was a sandwich, but you can get that here, just don't *expect* it. The food will be plain, and nothing will taste fresh, but that's not what diners are for. Get the patty melt, and the fries, safe bets, and classics will always win.
We had an awesome waitress at the Flashback Diner. She highly recommended the grits, and she was so right! They were fantastic!! My avocado toast was delicious, with perfectly done fried eggs on top. The waffles were yummy but could have been a little crisper. I would give a 5 star review, but the tables weren't very clean, and that was disappointing.
Super big milkshakes. Candy at the checkout, so unless you want your kids to be crazy sugar babies, avoid the checkout counter. It's hard to tell from the picture but the cakes are HUGE! Like 5 layers of cake huge. Food was good diner food. I always stick to breakfast at diners but that's just me because I love me some breakfast!
I’ve had several different dishes and it’s always tasty and fresh. The waiters are great. If I’m hesitant to try something and fish for information about how popular something is I get good information. The desserts also look amazing but the portions are big so usually no room for dessert.
This is a very nice and very relaxed establishment. Each table are set with mini tv's for you or your families entertainment. Love how they have signed autographs of celebrities to view. Celebrity pictures as well. It felt like being surrounded by Hollywood stars. This is a good place for family and friends to enjoy. It is open 24 hours, and it is located right across the street of the Gulfstream Casino. They have all types of food for any time of the day, ranging from American to Italian, and Greek as well. From breakfast to brunch, lunch, and dinner as well. And, every delicious desert that you can think of. We had the pleasure of ordering from the "Celebrity List" from the menu. The "Anthony Quinn" Gyro Platter for $12.99. Our server "Olga" from Greece, was pleasant and attentive. Thank you Olga for your wonderful service. We did give it a 4 star, in our opinion, because the Tzatziki Sauce was not good at all, but overall, the portion of food that they give you, is worth the price. P.S. They have seatings outside as well. Enjoy!☺️
Large portions for sure. I got the French toast with bacon and eggs combo platter with coffee. French toast is of the thin type which may turn some off. They were good but I prefer more fluffy type. The bacon was awesome and the eggs were good. I got a side of hash browns but that was a mistake. It was enough for 2 large portions or 3-4 people breakfast side. I ended up leaving half a French toast and more than half of the hash browns as I was stuffed at this point. The restaurant is clean and bigger than it looks on the inside from the outside. The bathroom was clean. I was expecting maybe 3 workers at 7:20 am but to my surprise they had way more people and workers inside than I imagined. Dawn was my server and she was great. She checked on me frequently without being overbearing and this is something I do not see enough of in restaurants nowadays. I would highly recommend to check this place out.
Agradable. Muy buena atención. Platos ricos y abundantes, para compartir. Refill de bebidas.
Hermoso lugar, bien ambientado.
📍 Flashback Diner Review If you're craving French toast, this place delivers big time—perfectly golden, fluffy, and packed with flavor. Absolute must-try! As for the Philly steak sandwich, it was just okay—nothing to rave about but decent enough if you're in the mood for it. 🚨 Chili cheese fries? Hard pass. Way overpriced for what you get, and the taste just doesn't justify the cost. Overall, a mix of hits and misses, but that French toast alone might be worth the trip. 🍽️ #FoodReview #FlashbackDiner #FrenchToastWin #FoodieAdventures
Food and waitress great.....hostess needs training, me and my hubby had a great meal and received good service from the waitress, but when we went up to pay the hotess/ cashier wanted us to go over what are meal was, which caught me by surprise, and she was rude, the bill was $34 and nothing was incorrect on the bill, so I rethought and named what me and my hubby ordered, and from then on every time we visited that cashier gossip to other workers about us, it was disturbing to say the least, then on our last day of vacation we visit there once more, and neither that hostess or the cashier next to her would acknowledge us standing in line to give our name for seating, my hubby told the girl to put our name down as they tried to not look or speak with us......the hostess soon called us and said to us we must really like the food there, really, I thought that was the idea...I hated coming there but it was convenient even if the hostess was ignorant. I would have just really like to come and go like all the other customers.
This is a popular place and there was a waiting period, though the wait was not too long. The diner is adorned with pictures and postings of movies, and stars from the past and some more recent ones. The wait staff was extra friendly, and patient. We were told the coffee there was good, and it was a good brew, hot, and when I could not finish my third cup, I asked for a to go cup, and the waitress filled it with fresh coffee, which to me was a pleasant plus. The food portion was generous, but the omelette was cooked a little more than it should have been, making it a bit on the dry side. But, overall the experience was satisfactory. I'm sure they would have addressed any concern I had, and I will return to give it another try. Check out the candies and desserts before you check out@
I have been here three times. The first two times I got breakfast items and they were pretty good but the third time I decided to try their patty melt with mac and cheese. It wasn't great, the mac tasted weird and had clumpy cheese bits in it which was off-putting and the patty melt was much greasier than I would prefer it to be, more than it should be normally. Service was always good though, servers were always attentive and the atmosphere was nice.
I came here because it was late and seems to be vintage. I ordered a footlong Hot Dog. What arrives: 2 burger breads with a tiny sausage inside. I didn't know what to say. The waiter excuse me they didn't have hot dog bread but that when I was waiting for 20 minutes. I refused it and ordered a basic burger.
The napkins are quality. Everything else is not. Scrambled eggs aspire to average. The sausage is dense and hard. Buttermilk pancakes are OK but without pure maple syrup, they struggle. Denver omelette is greasy and bland (and served without cheese). Hash browns were kind of disgusting. We were seated below a blown speaker that was equal parts static and music. Service was good, but who frequents a restaurant solely based on service?
Disappointing experience. I had high hopes of a delicious homemade diner experience. Damarius, my server was the highlight of the visit. He was attentive, but seemed nervous while interacting. The food just did not measure up to a classic diner. I had the Turkey and Dressing dinner, which is a go to selection for me. The Turkey was thick sliced deli meat, very dry - the gravy was necessary to shallow it. Mashed potatoes were from a box, tasteless. The spinach was sautéed nicely (not over cooked) however the amount of garlic made it uneatable. The loaf of bread was clearly store-bought and poorly warmed. There was nothing about the meal that indicated the meal was made from scratch, which is the expectation in a diner. Not recommended at all. $3.49 for an unsweetened ice tea, really?
I went with family around 8 and it wasnt that busy. The service was slow. Our order was brough in pieces, the app came after maine dish. They recomended a grill cheese, tom and bacon with chicken noodle. The grill cheese barely any cheese and no moodle soup. I really dont recommend it. The kids menu offers fruit with ot. Never got it. So we asked for ice cream wich it says fruit or ice cream. They trked charging for ice cream.
This is my third or fourth time coming to one of their locations. It's my second time at the US 1 location. I think it'll be my last. I was absolutely let down. I ordered the chicken and waffles. I didn't finish the meal. The chicken was extra crispy for some reason and not in a good way. The chicken also lacked flavor. The waffle also lacked flavor. My mother in law got uncooked bacon on her plate. The only thing that was good was the coffee. They also need to do a deep clean. The corners of the booths are filthy. And the seat cushions are sinking in.
Wasn't busy this evening when I went in, I instantly regretted it after ordering a Traditional Combo, there was more butter on the plate oozing from the eggs than there was actual eggs. Very disappointing, as I used to frequent this location a lot last year this same time.
As a very frequent visitor, I hate to say that every single time it gets worse and worse. Last few times we have had to wait and wait to even be acknowledged after being seated. But last night was one of the worst. The restaurant wasn't even full and after being seated and waiting forever, nobody ever came to serve us. A few of the busboys came and asked if we wanted drinks, but we said we were ready to order (we had 2 young children, who were starving) and they said ok we will get your server. Guess what, that serve NEVER came and we found out that she was "the manager". We heard other diners also complaining about the wait and no service and they were there before us. Long story short we ended up leaving because we never were seen by anyone. It sucks because beforehand Flashback was one of our favorite restaurants. We go to both locations and sadly they have both really gone downhill. 😔
My food was delicious. I had the Roasted Veggie Penne w/ Grilled Salmon. ⭐⭐⭐⭐(2018) ---- -⭐ (2025) I placed an Uber Eats order for a Smoked Salmon Omelet with Hashbrown WELL, Grits, and a Blueberry Bagel (no cheese, due to a dairy allergy). Not only was my Hashbrown WELL missing, but my Blueberry Bagel was drenched in butter, making it COMPLETELY INEDIBLE. When I called the restaurant, they wrongly claimed I didn’t pay for the hashbrown—even though it was CLEARLY LISTED ON MY RECEIPT. Instead of resolving the issue, THE MANAGER ARGUED WITH ME, THEN HUNG UP. I even WENT TO THE RESTAURANT to show my receipt and the butter literally oozing from the bagel, but the manager continued to argue. AFTER MUCH BACK AND FORTH, SHE finally agreed to replace the bagel and hashbrown but REFUSED TO CORRECT THE ENTIRE ORDER. At this point, the POOR SERVICE and UNPROFESSIONALISM completely RUINED THE EXPERIENCE. If a restaurant offers delivery, it should HONOR ORDERS CORRECTLY AND HANDLE MISTAKES WITH BASIC CUSTOMER SERVICE—not hostility. I won’t be ordering from here again.
Arrived for lunch at 12:22pm. 3 in our party. Ordered a BLT, Tuna Melt and a Gyro. We waited 50minutes for our food. There were about 7 tables and two other parties of 2 came in after us. They both received their food prior to us. When I stopped the server as she never checked on us with empty glasses she said it will be a minute She goes to the cook window and yells for the order. 5 minutes later gyro comes. BLT with fries comes out, and 7 minutes later the tuna melt comes out. A total of 50 minutes for these three sandwiches. My gyro was hard rubber I decided to return it and not eat. She asked if I wanted anything else I said if will take this long then no. Then we had to go track down the server for the ticket. Horrible service. Horrible food. We are from Jax and are down here a lot for work and will NEVER return.
Wow! Do I have a story to tell. I never say avoid at all cost to anything. I think everyone has a shot, however, they brought out waffles and pancakes that Had a sour aftertaste. Have you ever heard of pancakes with a sour aftertaste? I was a chef for 5 years and I've never heard or seen of a thing. I thought my wife was joking when she said it had a sour taste, so I tasted the waffles that she had. I was eating it... I thought okay. This is fine... then that tinge of sour came and I said, oh there it is. Now my kids also were eating pancakes and the lady came back and asked if my wife wanted something different, and she brings her pancakes (my wife change to that). I say to my wife after the lady goes away. You know that's got to be the same batter. My wife tastes it and it's the same thing, bitter better. This was around 10 :30 in the morning so there's no reason for batter to be bitter. Not to mention, I'm not sure if even batter was sitting in the fridge for 2 days. I didn't sit and argue with these guys about describing whatever. I told the lady that also that was bad and she gave me the bill. I paid it. I even gave The young lady a tip. I will be crawling the health inspector.
