We ordered Charo beans for a reunion and they did a great job. The order was ready when they said it would be. Long line just to pay the bill. I think they need more help at the register.

The sweet and sour ckn was amazing coming from a Mexican restaurant it was well served and the waitstaff was at great and I called in the order I even added a extra side order and it was jus fantastic.....I highly recommend the sweet and sour ckn u won't be disappointed....thank u chapitas for such great service as well as ur food

Gosh, had the huevos a la Mexicana with chorizo breakfast taco for dinner and it was over the top tasty. The portion was generous and included refried beans, which I ordered "bien refritos." The beans were great as was the salsa and the tortilla. Chips were fresh and not greasy or too salty. Service was friendly and efficient. The price can't be beat. If I had to pick on something I'd say that the place is noisy due to lack of materials to baffle normal restaurant sounds. Love this restaurant and go often.

I had this catering service for my July 4th yard party. It was absolutely delicious. The food was hot in nice large pans for serving, the beans were awesome not watery good thick juice in them. I recommend this place. I will probably do this annually, no fussing over a grill, no smoked filled air. Thank you David Chapa

I love to eat breakfast there when I go. Also I get good customer service and prices are not to bad. Give it a try and you'll see but there are times when it gets busy and you may have to wait a little longer for your meal as is expected anywhere else, but you know it's fresh.

Very good food, tasty and very generous portions for the price. Specials range from 6.95 to 7.95 and plates for lunch and dinner are around 9.95. Staff very friendly and attentive, never ran out of drink or napkins or had to wait too long for anything.

Great place to eat Mexican food! If you are a college student, feel free to de-stress and enjoy a nice meal. Prices are reasonable and affordable. I visited my niece and her husband a couple of years ago in Harlingen from North Carolina. We ate breakfast and lunch here a few times and I must say I was never disappointed. Great food, atmosphere, service, priced reasonably, and friendly staff. They will treat you right! And, they make sure you feel welcomed, and that your dining experience is pleasurable. I left the Valley after high school 57 years ago. I always enjoy " coming home" to visit family. This place is a home away from home when you eat here. They even burst my tortillas like l do sometimes and homemade!! Prices are great!

Great place amazing food

We stopped here because we were craving some good Mexican food. We were surprised that after 12pm they were still serving breakfast which the hubby was craving. Erica the waitress was perfect in attending us. Her customer service was on point. The food was so delicious and wow these breakfast tacos were huge. Overall the experience was excellent and hubby told me why it took me so long to bring him here. We definitely recommend and we shall return.

Just passing thru, this was the first Mexican restaurant that popped up on maps. So, so glad we stopped! Carolina our server was super sweet and helpful! Plates were very well served and delicious. Service was quick and had that mom's homemade taste. Prices were great as well. Tortillas were huge and yummo! Even took a dozen home!

Went here this morning for breakfast with my parents. I had a barbacoa taco which was amazing. Portions are huge and the flour tortillas are amazing. My mother had a cup of menudo with corn tortillas. She loved it. Service is fast and friendly and the restaurant is very clean. Prices are great.

Needed 20 breakfast tacos on the fly for a work meeting. The staff was very friendly and efficient. Breakfast tacos were delicious and for the price and the portions you get, you can’t beat it!

Fast friendly service tasty enchiladas with chicken. A mariachi was there singing a little too loudly but I do not appreciate loud music at anytime during a meal. He didn't stay long and then I was able to enjoy the meal while conversing with my lunch companion. I recommend this place.

Food and prices definitely changed for the worse. One barbacoa taco $7.95, plate about $15, coffee 2.95, machacado about 9 with just a few threads of beef that u have to dig for. Horribly over priced for quality and quantity served. SMH...

It took about 23 minutes to get our food, so they're not fast. Others who got there after us got their food before we did they ordered from the breakfast menu like we did). Food was delicious, got two flour tortillas with my breakfast plate! Super happy about that. Waitress didn't come around for a while.

The food here is usually pretty good. I've had chicken enchiladas with a nerve or two and their kids pizza plate isn't great, but I wouldn't expect it to be. I love their Chinese plate for Thursday lunch special. The service is a little slow to fit into our lunch hour, but, occasionally, it's worth the risk.

Was told about this place by 4 different local groups.. And it didn't disappoint. While they raved about this $10 T-bone (and I concur) our party of 6 also loved the fish and shrimp and salad entrees. Just didn't care for the pieces of meat for the fajitas (flank or something).. They got the 3 meat combo plate and both loved the shrimp a s sausage but not their flank, or whatever that cut of meat was.. And one of our friends had the fish and shrimp combo.. Same great "medium big" tasty fried shrimp and a piece of fried fish that covered most of his oval platter. Service was really attentive. As we were leaving - we ran into two couples from square dancing that had driven over 20 miles to get there. They said they make the drive quite often. Decor is nothing fancy.. The food, service and price are the stars here. We'll done. Tip: order your steak at least one portion less done than you like... It comes out on this sizzling hot platter and cooks another degree while at table. We will add this to our growing collection of tried and true recommendations here in the RGV!

Had breakfast here yesterday while waiting to see if the bicycle shop across the street would open. Two breakfast tacos cost me $6.38 with tax. Server was friendly and portions were large.

Overall, the huevos a la Mexicana taco that I ate was good. I try to go EARLY on Fridays during Lent, so I can get capirotada! Very delicious, just like my mama and abuela used to make it! The only complaint I have is that the portion of the capirotada is smaller than previous years.

The food and service at Chapita's is usually very good. Their specials are good with better than average portions and very reasonable prices, particularly for casual Tex-Mex dining. The chips and salsa are an added bonus. Their following appears to be local, regular folks. The only criticism I would have is the frequency of check backs with the service staff. Once you get served and they bring a ticket that is usually the last time one sees the server.

My eggs were not fully cooked, the server brought me another plate and they were still not fully cooked. Beans were good. My potatoes were good. Sweet tea was delicious! The server was nice.

Everything was good, food was delicious. They passed drinks and plates from end of the table vs placing them with each of us and we could smell cleaning products as we were eating because they close mid day and had started cleaning early. Overall though I would definitely recommend for breakfast

The food is good, but overall the customer service is not that great. Some of the servers seem to have an attitude problem. If you are there it's because you are going to have a good attitude and earn your tips. A bit disappointing. :/

The food was excellent but the service well not good. what ever happened to those waitresses that used to make conversation and made you feel you want to come back. As I'm here at my table all I hear is chatter from the waitresses talking to each other in the back folding silverware with no interaction with their clientel. I normally go everyday to Blanquitas but I wanted to try something different today. oh well. Also I did not see an owner or manager going tavle to table to see how their patrons are doing this restaurant has so much potential but it does not have the warmly feeling to it. Another thing when the waitresses pour coffee be careful because they don't pick up your cup to refill and might splash you coffee and also be ready they give you the tab rightaway without you asking for it. like I said the food is good.

The food is ok and didn't like the flower tortilla. Staff friendly and order was in a descent time. Oh price are not so expensive. The only bad thing for me is the flower tortilla 😣 I'll recommended only if you don't mind the flower tortilla 😢

I chose this restaurant based on reviews. The chef has changed or we were there on a bad night. Prices were more than we expected. The fajita special was a very thin, seasoned flank steak. Not strips & no peppers nor onions nor pico de gallo. Just a very thin, small flank steak. Carne asada was tasty but meat was very tough. A 3rd member of our party had a combination dinner that also included a fajita. His was shredded but tasteless and also missing the vegetables. We asked our waitress if this was the way they normally served fajitas and she said it was. We didn't fuss, paid our bill with appropriate tip but we will never go back or recommend the place to others. Very disappointed.

Service was very slow. Once the waitress brought her food she didn't come back to check on us until much much later, we were almost done with the meal. Food was okay but not very hot. I was kind of disappointed came all the way from Dallas and was expecting better.

Not quite sure how to rate! First time I ordered carne guisada n enchilada combo, it was great! Yesterday I ordered mole enchiladas and they were too salty! My mom got pancakes and they were dry and falling apart! We both left more than half our plate!

The prices where expensive for the kind of hometown restaurant that it is. The food was okay but not great. I would expect better from a Mexican restaurant, they used hamburger for the tacos and enchiladas, with having much flavor.

The special was Chicken fried chicken. It was awful. The Texas Toast was soggy, and the breading on the chicken tasted peculiar. My husband got the chicken fried steak and said it was really good. Our waitress was MIA. She decided to take a lunch break. I had to flag another waiter down to get a to go box for the chicken fried steak leftovers.

In my potato and egg plate the eggs were undercooked slightly and the beans were barely warm. My husband has chicken fajitas which he said were dry and hard, like they had been reheated. The service was halfway decent but the food quality has gone down. We used to come here years ago all of our time and it was super.

I will come back at least once more to try a different menu item. But if fajitas are not right, I’m not sure where to go from there. The fajita meat was not only tough and hard to chew, but was quite flavorless. Adding green salsa didn’t help much. No marinade for sure. Even some salt/ pepper would help. Either way, the rice and charro beans were done well. That’s enough for me to give Chapitas another try.

Portions are smaller than before, instead of 2 bacons u get 1 bacon now. ****** There is a 4% charge if you pay with anything other than cash!! *******

Prices are excelent the service very slow. I orderd 5 breakfast tacos that was suppose to take 25 minuets. Turned out i waited 50min for tacos that were less than mediocre. The tortillas fell apart leaving a mess of my tacos. Maybe if i would have ate there it would have been a better experience. Probably wont go back.

Ordered the sizzling fiesta platter and was disappointed. The shrimp was something from the freezer section at Sam's, and the fajita meat also tasted like Sam's pre-marinated fajita meat. Come to think of it, the "smoked sausage" kinda tasted like a Sam's club hotdog as well. The tortillas turned hard as a rock as soon as it cooled off. The salsa that came with the chips tasted like watered down tomato broth. It definitely wasn't salsa.

I have to say I was disappointed in this place, I went in today and ordered a mollejas taco that took nearly 30 minutes to arrive. The plate came with rice and beans. Rice tasted good but was mushy and served room temperature beans also had a great flavor but were served cold. As for the taco it was small considered the plate i ordered was nearly ten dollars. Tortilla was delicious and warm mollejas were cut up small and deep fried with no seasoning my taco consisted of about 10 small pieces. It was the skinniest taco I've ever had. This particular plate I ordered today was just ok. I don't think I'll be back to eat here again.

Didn't like it at all... I ordered today's special of pollo en mole... They didn't have any... My mom ordered caldo de res... They didn't have any... I ordered my son a pizza... Literally 15 minutes later they come and say they don't have any... So he ordered a bacon and egg taco... Bacon was super hard... Looked like it had been sitting there for a while... It just wasn't good at all... My brother ordered chicken strips and they seriously tasted like dirt... Ugh...

Not impressed with food. Coffee tasted burnt and tortillas were hard. I let the cashier know of our experience and her reply was I don't know...wow! No apology at all. Will not be eating there again.

Me and my family have been going to this restaurant for year's its only a few minutes away so its convenient for us ,but as of late there service hasn't been the same i had a bad experience that im not going to discuss its just not worth it that are several restaurant that make you feel welcome mi ranchito ,los asados, and many more (Be Ware) of this place !

This past week mom and me sat down and ask for the specials house speci, and we waited and waited and waited................... I finally got tired after half an hour I am not exaggerating I got up walked over to cooks prep area to get it myself its been a half hour!!! II asked my waitres can I have my food? I'm hungry I need to go back to work! Everyone look like a deer in headlights no one knew what was going on! A 50 min later I went to pay, my waitress and the cashier agreed it was a half hour long wait and all I got was"I'm sorry"- REALLY! !! Never again and here comes the holidays I will definitely not bring family and friends here

I wonder why their hours are so inconsistent? Wanted to go Friday for catfish because of the Lent season and this is at 5:30 in the after noon and they're closed. I was told a while back by an employee that they would stay open for dinner on Fridays and Saturdays but I guess they changed their minds again. This business went from such a busy successful one to almost non existing 😔

My wife ordered the entomatadas. She ordered cheese and not chicken. When they brought her the food out after quite a while, after the first bite, she got a bone in her food, because they’ve given her chicken. When we finally got the waitress’s attention, my wife says she ordered cheese to which the waitress said no you didn’t you ordered chicken. My wife said can you please take it back, it has bones in it? The waitress said whenever you order chicken there’s always bones in it. They don’t offer you an itemized receipt. Be careful that they don’t overcharge you.

I have been for both breakfast and lunch. They have been understaffed for years now and it is affecting their quality in service. Each time we have come we sit for 15-20 minutes and no server has offered to take a drink order. A side glance is not acknowledgment. Then another 15 minutes to take an entree order which is done so in a “let’s do this quick” tone. Also, the lunch salsa is not fresh. It seems like it is the breakfast salsa but cold. When we politely confronted the waitress she responded “everything has changed (covid)”. COVID is not a reason for lack of quality in service. Quantity, perhaps. Chapitas, what happened to pride for your restaurant that you use to have when you first opened?

If I could give this restaurant 0 stars I would. This place is absolutely disgusting. It's was so filthy. We had to flag someone down to clean the table. Once we finally got the table clean and sat down, my friend caught our waitress picking her nose right in the middle of service yuck! Don't think she even bothered to wash her hands. Then when we finally got our meal the tortillas on my enchiladas were hard. I could barely cut into them then when I finally did I found a ROACH inside! A freaking roach! 🪳🤢We flagged the manager over but he started joking with us saying it comes with the meat! Like the hell!? I told him it's not funny. Sad to say our entire dinner at that point was pretty much ruined. He ended up just charging just the fish plate my friend ordered but the damage was done. I will not eat here ever again and I'm going to report this because this is not acceptable for a business. DO NOT EAT HERE! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Family and I usually go here but have noticed quality of food has decreased over the years. Today, we ordered chilaquiles and waiter got order wrong and gave us migas. She took our order back and added salsa and cheese before microwaving our food. In addition to that, instead of correcting the order in the system, she charged us individually for each ingredient added which added more cost than the original chilaquiles price. We paid ~$45 for the three orders and two coffees. Would not come back here again.

We went in at 11am it took 10mins before they ever brought our food. Took our order drink order and brought menus brought our drinks and we waited 5 mins again for her to come back nd place order this is where it gets good. We ordered . Nothing came out together they gave my kids food then we waited 15-20 mins for my husbands food then waited 14 mins for my food . Then waited 10 mins for fries. I seriously did not want to pay for this. Just that my kids where hungry I myself did not eat because I was so upset drinks where flat as well never again will I step foot in here maybe the owners have changed because the food nd service was not the same from years back

Arrived at 7:15am. Took waitress awhile to notice us. I felt like since I'm not Latino they treated me with no urgency. We ordered and it took them 30 min. To get our food ready. Very disappointing. WE EVEN TOLD WAITRESS WE HAD A 8AM APPT AT THE DMV ACROSS THE ROAD. Had to take food to go and the woman who check us out argued with my mother. Never again.
