We celebrated my daughter's birthday at a special Pai event. Each dish was paired with a corresponding drink. The plating was elegant and clean. The flavors were distinct. It was definitely a night to remember.

My brother in law bought us dinner her for the night of our elopement. This restaurant went above and beyond. They made us personilized menus and gave us a champagne toast for our big day. Portions are small and delicious. Our waiter was very sweet and attentive! Thank you guys for the amazing dinner.

Chef Kevin is a science genius! Love every ingredients that touched my palate! And his wife Justine was a wonderful host! Definitely a Michelin star restaurant in my book! Homemade strawberry gelato with velvet cookie for my friend’s birthday was amazing! Thank you 🙏❤️ I had to lick the bowl!!! 😋Highly recommend it!!! 🥰👍🥰👍

OMG! This chef knows how to tickle the taste buds! The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable. The food was fantastic. They sure know what wine to pair with what dish! The whole thing was amazing! I did this as part of the Hilton Grand Vacations exclusive event and I highly recommend it!

We had the chef's fall tasting menu and it was possibly the best meal we've ever had. I'm not sure why they don't yet have a Michelin ⭐. The service was impeccable. Two fantastic and knowledgeable waiters tag-teamed to ensure we never had to wait for anything. The decor was minimalist, but being able to look into the kitchen was great. Excellent ambiance. I HIGHLY recommend trying it out. Be warned though, you get what you pay for, so don't expect it to be cheap.

Our dinner experience at Pai blew me away; every course was a carefully plated expression of the chef's creativity, and it was all absolutely delicious. The drinks were also super well crafted and balanced, I personally loved the Coyote. If and when Michelin finally makes it out to Honolulu, this place deserves to be starred! We'll definitely be making our way back here next time we're in town.

I was blown away by the tasting menu prepared by Chef Kevin and his crew. All items sampled had my tastebuds craving more!! Attention to detail is clearly demonstrated upon arrival from the personalized menus, extensive explanation of the wines, perfectly plated food, to the chef himself wishing us well as we were leaving!! I highly recommend stopping by this establishment. Thanks for the great evening!!!!!!

A beautiful place to go on a very special occasion or if your a foodie like me. We did the chef's seasonal 10 course meal. Yes pricey but worth it. Chef Kevin Lee is doing something amazing here and making Hawaii's local ingredients known to everyone. His team know what they are doing. The wine pairing was on point just have to go to experience it yourself. Salmon was cooked to perfection just🔥🔥🔥

WOW... and I mean woooooow! We are still here, and we have loved everything!!! We did the Chef's tasting menu, and my oh my....it has been one of the best meals I've had, even better than some Michelin Star restaurants I've been to. The Chef is AMAZING!!! The food is spectacular! I highly recommend to spend a little more and opt for the Chef's tasting menu, it os worth it.

Oh my gosh!!!! Food and service was top notch. We attended a special event and it was a gastronomical explosion! First the pickled mango tomato salad had the perfect acidic/sweetness ratio, next sisig lasagna was absolutely delicious and so very flavorful, then the slow roasted pork belly adobo just melted in my month and finally the foie gras banana lumpia with a jackfruit gelato was to die for. The drinks were perfectly matched to each dish. Heavenly!! A must for all foodies. Chef Kevin is a culinary genius! We had to try dinner again, after the Event off the regular menu and I must say again Chef Kevin did a spectacular job creating some innovating dishes! The Ginger chicken risotto was amazing, with multiple layers of flavors to create the right amount of umami. The grilled Tako and warm watermelon was to die for!! With the salty and slightly sweet flavors, OMG!! The Tako was sooooo tender. The deserts were just amazing! Every dish was my new favorite. Thank you Pai Honolulu for a wonderful meal!!!!!

T.L.D.R: try this place. If you're thinking about it, stop. Just do it. Don't hesitate. Just go. It's worth it. Try the (insert dish here) and you'll be happy. I wanted to bring the wife out to a nice, final meal in Hawaii before heading home the next morning. I landed on this place, so we decided to try it out. We made a reservation with the note that it was for our anniversary, and the exemplary service started there. Within the first hours of the reservation, I received an email asking what my wife's name was because they wanted to put a customized note on the menu. They also asked if there were any dietary restrictions so they could accommodate. I replied with my wife's name and that she's due with our first child, so undercooked meats would be the only thing. Fast forward to our visit, Justine (part owner) greeted us with celebratory drinks while having a non-alcoholic drink available for my wife. She was very courteous and absolutely genuine in every way possible. We asked about some items on the menu for recommendations, and you could tell that she has an absolute passion for what her and her husband (chef) do. After some back and forth, we settled on the ciapinno and the 5 spice pork shoulder. Additionally, I took advantage and tried the caviar for my first time as an appetizer while trying the Thunder gone Rogue to drink. From start to finish, every dish and drink came out with an artistic, beautiful presentation that clearly showed attention to detail and flair to match the outstanding flavors that were presented. My only complaint is I wish I got more of the caviar. We proceeded to clear each plate that we ordered and couldn't stop there. We proceeded to order dessert and wanted to share the Ricotta Malasada. In conversation with Justine, we had mentioned that my wife had been craving fresh fruit lately, so in her thoughtfulness, she insisted that we try the Strawberry panna cotta as well and served both dishes to us. Each dessert had a wonderful depth of flavor that capped our night off with joy. Myself, wife, and child all were satisfied with every bite taken. Justine proceeded to offer us her card so that next time we come back or if we know anyone that is coming back, they can reach out to her and make sure that they have a good time. This is definitely something I plan to take advantage of because she is clearly the type of person that you want to have around. While the food and flavors were incredible, the service gave it the 5 star experience. Definitely will be back.

Great restaurant and service. Made anniversary reservations and our menu stated Happy Anniversary. Ordered 2 4 course tasting menus and shared. The smoked drink similar to an Old Fashioned was amazing.

We had the most AMAZING time tonight. From the second we arrived we felt so special. I almost cried when I saw they printed us our own menus that said happy anniversary! We did the prixe fixe menu and everything we had was absolutely perfect. The wine pairings were also amazing and our server was super knowledgeable about everything he served. I can’t recommend this place enough - if you’re in Honolulu you have to come here!!

What a fun experience! My wife and I celebrated a special occasion at Pai. We really enjoyed the whole evening. The food was fantastic. The pacing was thoughtful (2.5hrs for 8 courses). The staff were so present but not overbearing. The wine, oh wow the wine! They have a sommelier, two actually, who do all the pairings. They are so knowledgeable and thoughtful in their decisions. I drink a lot of wine but every glass opened up my horizons. This is worth the spring for if you’re on the fence. Overall, I am very pleased. Pai is one of the best upscale dining experiences on the island.

We celebrated my mother’s 60th birthday here and had a phenomenal time. The space was cozy and intimate, as if it were a completely private dining experience, and the Pai Honolulu team went above and beyond to make our celebration special. Chef Kevin’s menu is carefully curated. the dishes are beautiful, and everything we ate was absolutely delicious. We especially loved the carrots (which we learned came from his own garden)! I’d highly recommend celebrating a special occasion here!!

This was one of the best dining experiences my wife and I have ever had. The flavor profiles, creativity of ingredients, and presentation were top notch. We did a full testing menu, with each dish paired to a complimentary wine. It was absolutely spectacular. My wife literally, and involuntarily, giggled when first trying both the first and second course. I asked after the second time and she said that it was just so good she couldn’t help it. This happened on each course but one. I had never witnessed her do this before and haven’t since.

The cornbread and turnip cake was some of the best foods I’ve ever had. (Pictured below). However compared to other Michelin starred restaurants it is not perfect. But service was incredible and food was still absolutely amazing.

Service was excellent, ambiance was quant and classy, cocktails with exceptional and the oyster with caviar was amazing. I want to also say the short ribs and curry pappardelle were very flavorful. With all the wonderful things I just said why not 5 stars? The papparrdelle was hand made, but it lacked consistency and it was a bit too al dente for me. The main reason for taking a star away was that our entrees were served lukewarm, which we found to be a major misstep for this price point and caliber.

I had a great time overall! Comparing this to other places with the same vibe and price point, the wait staff missed a few times, and I thought a couple of the five courses weren't as "special" as the others, but that's because the tako and pork were exceptional. We came here with a group as part of an experience.

Our experience at Pai was a great disappointment. We had hoped for a nice last meal in Honolulu, but the food ranged from mediocre to poor in quality and was extremely slow. Service: Our servers were polite but lacked the polish and professionalism we would expect from a restaurant at this price point ($210 per person). Our server, though well-intentioned, spoke very softly and mumbled the dish explanations so we had difficulty understanding him, and he generally appeared nervous, avoiding eye contact. Ambiance: The restaurant, which seats only ~12 parties to begin with, was no more than half full. The bluetooth speaker kept disconnecting, so every 10 minutes the music stopped and we heard an automated notification that the bluetooth speaker was disconnected. When the fire alarm went off in the middle of the meal, none of the servers stopped by to explain what was happening. We had a view into the open kitchen which only had 3-4 kitchen staff in it, including the head chef-- this may have contributed to the painstakingly slow pacing of the meal. Food: We had the Chef’s Tasting Menu. The dishes, each of which drew from a different global influence (Southern, Japanese, Chinese, Italian, French, etc.) lacked cohesion as an overall menu. The food itself was the biggest letdown. * Chef’s buttermilk cornbread - 5/10. The cornbread was good/ordinary though the honey-miso butter was tasty. * Kona kanpachi - 5/10. Three small pieces of kanpachi and two tiny pieces of scallop. The dish was nice but could have used a more generous portion of seafood as most of it was cucumber, tomato, and puree. * Samoan crab purse - 6/10. Though slightly one dimensional, there was good amount of crab and filling and as dim sum lovers, we appreciated the take on siu mai. * Lobster Cioppino - 6/10. The cioppino was flavorful and the half lobster tail was well cooked. However, the pieces of fennel on the side were confusing as they were not really integrated into the dish. * Escargot toppogi - 6/10. One of the better dishes, a combination of escargot and small pieces of tteobboki in a pesto sauce that worked well but didn’t wow us. The two carrots on top, which might have been meant to provide freshness, were raw and out of place. * Duck confit taro puff - 3/10. This is where the meal went rapidly downhill. According to the menu, the taro puff contained duck confit and foie gras rags with cabbage, shoyu mustard, and micro shiso. All of this was overpowered by the taste of cumin. The texture inside was oily and gooey with nothing to relieve the heaviness. Moreover, part of the filling was cold inside. * 90 Day Dry-Aged Ribeye - 2/10. Two very rare, small blocks of meat were gummy in texture and lukewarm in temperature. The cauliflower was ok and so was the XO sauce just but the steak itself can only be described as terrible. * Mai Tai Sherbet - skipped. At this point, we explained to the waiter that the meal had been taking a long time and we were not enjoying the food and asked if we could skip to dessert. * Dark Chocolate Haupia - 5/10. The chocolate haupia itself was neat and tasted fine but the crumble was gritty. Our final bill came out to $470, which is frankly outrageous for what we got. It is difficult to fathom how such a meal could be priced at a Michelin level. Our waiter apologized to us at the end for the slow and disappointing experience and we overheard him apologizing to at least two other tables as well, which suggests that our experience was unfortunately not unique.
