Ambassador Cafe Houston Reviews
Amazing!! Great service, fast, and a lot of food for the price. Very calm restaurant.
Great chinese! Food was fresh and delicious. The service was great as well. We wish that we had food this good back home in Georgia.
My family has been enjoying this fantastic restaurant for many years. We absolutely adore Wendy! Best Chinese food in Houston.
Ordered Ambassador Chinese through Grubhub. The orange chicken and fried rice was delicious and hot. Look forward to visiting the restaurant.
One of the best and the clean food decent plating and generous portion with great price food bustling with flavors spices decent amount of meat in the plate hospitality the best cleanliness, quiet service. Excellent every item that I order to be great a hole in the wall maybe not too many people knows about it but check it out this is the best The owner of the restaurant possibly comes to you. I talk to you. Please go ahead. Enjoy you won’t regret
The food is great! The service is excellent -Fernando always goes beyond-so polite and helpful. I have been eating here for more than 10 years.
I’ve gone her for years and the quality recently I think is even better than a few years ago when I felt it was declining. The current owners resurrected the old standards as well as introducing some welcome new additions. My favorites are the egg rolls(the largest I think still around), the combination fried rice, the black pepper shrimp and the sesame chicken. It’s old school Chinese American done right. Some of the negative reviews don’t seem to be by very discerning people (I’ve honestly never had the garlic chicken here or wanted it and it’s simply not true that everything tastes like it has soy sauce added). More than likely those who know and love this place don’t much read these online reviews. Yet the place ranks with China Garden downtown as a local staple of a certain kind of Chinese food. Judge it delicious!
This is by far the best-tasting Chinese food I’ve found in the area. The pork fried rice, in particular, is outstanding—flavorful, well-prepared, and consistently delicious. The overall menu offers high-quality dishes that keep me coming back. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with a cozy, homey feel that adds to the dining experience. On top of that, the customer service is excellent—friendly, attentive, and efficient. Highly recommended for anyone looking for great Chinese cuisine in a comfortable setting.
Quick service, very little wait time. Waiters very respectful and helpful with dishes. Food was amazing, cheap and incredibly big portions. Great atmosphere, very secluded and clean.
Ambassador Chinese Restaurant is an absolute gem! From the moment I walked in, the warm, inviting atmosphere and friendly staff made me feel right at home. The menu is a delightful mix of classic Chinese dishes and unique specialties, all prepared with the freshest ingredients. I tried the General Tso’s Chicken and the Shrimp Fried Rice, and both were bursting with flavor—perfectly balanced, not too heavy, and beautifully presented. The portions are generous, and the prices are incredibly reasonable for the quality. The attention to detail, from the spotless dining area to the quick, attentive service, truly sets this place apart. Whether you’re craving takeout or a sit-down meal, Ambassador is a must-visit for authentic, delicious Chinese cuisine. I can’t wait to return and explore more of their menu!
Friendly, clean, very pleasant atmosphere, fantastic crab puffs, orange chicken was delicious, black pepper shrimp was extraordinary. Staff was very accommodating and attentive without crowding me or making me feel pressured. If I lived closer, I'd visit often. It's worth an hour drive though.
We ordered the vegetable spring rolls — they were a good size but a bit too oily and lacked flavor. However, the Kung Pao chicken and spicy eggplant were absolutely delicious! It was such a relief to finally have food with great flavor. The portions were slightly small for the price, but everything was served fresh and hot, which I really appreciated. Their chili oil was amazing — it added the perfect kick. Overall, we really enjoyed the food and had a great experience. Great service too.
Soups, very tasty. Egg Rolls good size, not savory, too salty. Do not order the General Tso Chicken if you expect tangy, sweet and spicy (it was not) very bland.
This was my first time coming here. The presentation of the food was great. Taste, seasoning was not. I ordered shrimp fried rice, orange chicken and shrimp egg roll (which are huge). I normally finish my plate, but we wasted $45 on a tasteless meal. This is definitely not authentic.
Just ordered Spicy Eggplant lunch with eggroll(paid extra 2 dollars) and ordered side of wings .. which the wings taste old or not like chicken .. I'm not sure 😕 it's a funny taste but the eggplant is delicious!
I’m not sure what’s happened to this place but The food used to be a lot better. The hot and sour soup we got tonight was watery and hardly had any thing in it. The shrimp lo mein was just bland. The pork fried rice was more like sticky rice. Sorry to say this will be the last time we ever order here. Something changed and it’s not for the better.
I placed an online order for pickup at 3:15 PM, but when I arrived around 3:10, the restaurant was closed. I knocked, and a worker told me they don’t open until 4 PM. When I explained that I had an order scheduled for 3:15, he casually said I’d have to wait until around 4:15 for it to be ready. I asked about a refund since I wasn’t going to wait an hour, but he said it wasn’t possible because they use a third-party website for online orders. It’s frustrating that their business hours are incorrect and still allow customers to place orders during closed hours. I eventually called and was able to get my refund, but it took some time. Thankfully, it was resolved in the end.
I did not want to leave this review, but I feel that it is necessary. First of all because we are a different nationality, they overcharge us We went in last night With my family and for a family of eight to eat, it cost me $500 They overcharged me for every food item on the menu Second of all, their food is spoiled and old tasting, especially the pork When you complain, they do nothing about it and still charge you for it I have been to this restaurant about four times and it just keeps getting worse I will not be returning this time My family came 250 miles because they heard the food was good but my little girl ended up getting food poisoning from the pork last night And when you complain the server acts like he don’t understand what you’re saying This place will soon be going out of business Also, this place is very dirty rundown Smells bad And roaches were in the restroom
As someone used to eating authentic Cantonese and Chinese American dishes, the food they served is far from my expectations. Food is not even mediocre, but very faux and trying hard. I can tell, the food was cooked by someone not properly trained or does not have the nuances of Chinese American palate. Take your $$$ to Bellaire Blvd. for better value and more authentic food!
Great service but the food was not the authentic food I was expecting. It was heavily seasoned with soy sauce. I didn't taste any of the other spices and flavors like you normally have with Chinese food. We ordered Kung Pao, Moo Shu Pork, and Hunan chicken. The Moo Shu pork was the driest I have ever eaten. It was full of bean sprouts and lacked the cabbage and sauce. The meat was tough and you could tell it wasn't cooked along with the vegetables. The egg rolls didn't have any flavor and the fried rice was basically steamed rice with soy sauce. I wouldn't recommend it.
Wow, this place is very disappointing and overpriced. I wish I could get a refund. I ordered the black pepper shrimp with fried rice. The fried rice was burnt rice with no veggies. If the veggies were an up charge I wish the woman on the phone would have mentioned that. I also got the jumbo shrimp egg rolls. The egg roll is 95% cabbage and dry. The shrimp that was in the egg roll tasted funky/off. I ended up ordering food from another place because this food was so inedible.
