Common Grounds Uncommon Coffee Houston Reviews
🚨Located on 3rd floor This coffee shop is located on the first floor on Google Maps but that is a mistake; you need to take the elevator to the 3rd floor to get to it (incredible that management does not correct this mistake?! So clueless). Good coffee shop located in a modern office building that caters mostly to tenants of the building but well worth it to seek out if you are in the area. We were at the convention center and made a detour to come here. Service was quick and efficient. Coffee taste was well above average at competitive prices. Large area to sit down and enjoy your drinks also. We did not try out the food so no opinion on that. Highly recommended for coffee. P.S.: please leave a 👍 if this review was helpful and thank you for that 🙏
Common Grounds Uncommon Coffee at 5 Houston Center has quietly become my regular spot. The drip coffee is always solid (which honestly is all I need most mornings), and when I branch out, their specialty drinks are inventive and tasty. It’s quick, the team is so friendly, they always have a little fun music playing in the background, and it just feels easy to pop in and out. I’ve started buying my beans for home there too, their Blackwater Coffee Roasters brand is genuinely miles better than beans you can get from the grocery store or Starbucks. Plus, I like supporting a local business when I can, especially one that consistently gets it right.
I enjoy going to this coffee shop whenever I’m in downtown Houston. It’s on the 3rd level of the building it’s in. They do all the right kinds of coffee beverages, pour over, espresso drinks, etc. Their food options are good as well.
Solid coffee shop especially if you don’t want to go to Starbucks. The baristas are friendly and they always have tasty, unique drinks. They change their drinks every couple of months which keeps me coming back for more! My favorites so far have been their special Valentine’s latte, their mixed berry latte, and the berry matcha lemonade.
Common Grounds Uncommon Coffee offers top-notch espresso and truly friendly baristas. Its location may be a bit out of the way, yet it's a beacon for coffee lovers in a neighborhood with limited options. Definitely worth the detour for your coffee fix!
Went there today for some coffee and had a great experience. In town for a conference and was happy to go to a local coffee shop. The barista was so nice and helped us order. Friendly staff :). They're on the 3rd floor if the building, in the "lobby." Go check out their Cinnamon toast crunch latte :).
You need to enter the business building and take elevator to 3rd floor. Not sure why it says first floor. Cortado was excellent. Latte was a bit too hot. The rose and lavender syrups and made in house.
Great coffee, location, and food! I came across Common Grounds while searching for a cafe to work at while in downtown Houston and I have to say I was impressed! The coffee, cleanliness, branding, and lovely baristas and staff make me wish I worked in the vicinity. Definitely a must-try if you’re in the area.
Love their caramel macchiato coffee and chocolate chip muffins! Service is phenomenal! ❤️
TIP: Enter 1401 McKinney Street Say hi to security professional Eva Take the elevators to floor three (balcony above) Then turn right out of the elevator hallway. REVIEW: Super friendly service and very awsome lattes and flat whites served in fancy porcelain "Fellow" brand cups ("for here" orders only).
We came during the SCA coffee expo, the staff were all friendly. Grab and go food was great. The coffee was tasty!
Inside the 5 Houston building, in the 3rd floor, southwest corner. Nice seating area. They were rocking some tunes when I was there on a Tuesday during lunch. The coffee is good. I had just black coffee…I can’t drink Starbucks.
This is my new favorite coffee spot. The team here are the most friendly and talented people I’ve ever met. Lydia is extremely talented. I had a little bear on my coffee which made my day that much more awesome. It’s the little things ❤️
This is one of the best coffee shops in Houston, cozy and modern style with great coffee. They make high quality pour over coffee. I tried their pastries and yogurt granola mix.

Common Grounds Uncommon Coffee is one of those places that consistently gets it right. The coffee is always excellent, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the service truly stands out. The staff are friendly, attentive, and genuinely kind, making every visit feel easy and enjoyable. Ariana, Sofia, & Lydia especially deserve a shoutout! They’re warm, professional, and always go the extra mile to make sure everything is just right. My favorite drink is the Milk and Honey with oat milk, iced, with cinnamon powder on top. It’s perfectly balanced, smooth, lightly sweet, and refreshing with just the right hint of spice from the cinnamon. It’s the kind of drink that keeps me coming back, and paired with the consistently great service, it makes Common Grounds Uncommon Coffee a spot I’m always happy to recommend.
This is a great spot for a cup of coffee and a pastry. The staff are wonderful, personable, quick, and efficient. I suggest going early if you want a big bakery selection because they sell out!

Possibly bias opinion, since I decided to take my baby in my stroller and the place is not kid friendly. I think the coffee shop is more for the blue collar employees who work in that building or near the area. I was trying to explore new coffee shops that is why I visited this one. First off I ordered a honey latte, not the best just an average latte. Secondly I ordered an avocado toast, good flavor but literally came with 2 tomatoes, I went to the form to ask for tomatoes and the guy sold me 1 cherry tomatoe sliced for $3!
Minimalist and cool coffee counter in a office building (3d floor - no signage in elevator). Do not let the location fool you - the baristas are top-notch. Local roastery with a range of coffee origins make the pour overs, lattes and Americanos delicious. Savory snacks round out the offerings
Coffee was ok. Not bad but not amazing. Staff was friendly. Located inside the building on. The 3rd floor. Be mindful of meters of parking only to go to get coffee. Area of the building where the coffee shop is very nice and elegant.

Had a flat white, but it didn't taste as good as what I normally have. It seems difficult to get great tasting coffee in many cafes. On the plus side, the Cafe is in the building lobby, 3rd floor, which is a nice place to sit and enjoy a break, it's very clean and provides a pleasant experience. Thank you.
