Dish Society Houston Reviews
First time visit. Experience was great. Friendly staff. Selections are good. Happy Hour is awesome. Strawberry Dragonfruit is the best. Drinks are great - Blood Orange Lalo-Ma & Lavender Blush. Presentation for drinks great. Service was fair quick. Pretzels and Queso is a good option.
Ordered the Cobb salad with crispy chicken... SOO good. I went a little before lunch time so there was little to wait. Great it you're in the area and are look for good food and a nice vibe.
So, we came here for brunch while visiting Houston. The atmosphere is a bit modern, but clean & fun. We started with the beignet bites. They come with a delicious espresso creme anglaise (which was a touch thin, but tasted great!) My youngest got a chocolate chip pancake, which was chock full of chocolate chips, & had fruit atop. My wife had a yummy granola & yogurt bowl. I had the brisket & eggs, which was awesome! The addition of the pickled onions added a great bite to the flavors! This place is great!!
I had an asthma attack here today. I love Amber and Dish Society on Bellaire. My 9y/o granddaughter was with me and she was alarmed and called her Mother. Amber saw her alone and anxious and asked what the problem was. (I was in restroom) Amber then talked to my Daughter who was on her way. Then she checked on me. I had gained control of my breathing and was ok. Amber provided excellent hospitality and care before, during and after the incident. All the staff and management are consistently exceptional. The food is amazing —great options for a vegetarian. Seasoned perfectly, good price and beautiful environment. My favorite place for a delicious meal and wonderful service.
Eric at Dish Society is truly amazing. He’s incredibly caring and makes you feel so welcomed the moment you walk in. And the food—wow. I honestly can’t say enough good things about it. Every bite was fantastic, fresh, and thoughtfully made. This place wouldn’t be the same without Eric, and the food alone is reason enough to keep coming back. Highly recommend! — Miriam
This place really surprised me in the best way. We ordered very simple dishes like an omelet and a turkey sandwich, but somehow each plate had its own unique twist that made it feel special. Nothing was overdone, just thoughtful flavors and little details that elevated the classics. Everything tasted fresh, well balanced, and genuinely delicious. It’s the kind of spot that proves you don’t need a complicated menu to impress. Simple food done really, really well.
Went early first thing in the morning. I ordered the mimosa carafe, beignets with espresso sauce, and pretzel bites with smoked gouda cheese. Absolutely loved the beignets. I'm not a huge fan of the espresso sauce that they came with however I'm not the biggest fan of coffee. You can substitute for chocolate sauce if you prefer. Definitely will try again with the chocolate. Mimosas were amazing as well, among my favorite places for mimosas if not my all time favorite spot. Atmosphere was amazing as well, the wait staff were incredible. Ended up having the whole place to myself due to how early I had went on a Wednesday morning. Absolutely loved the decor and overall vibe of the establishment. 100% recommend and will 100% go back. They have specials and also do early morning happy hour which has great prices and great items on there as well. Thank yall and see yall again soon!
My family and I have been coming to Dish for years. The entire staff is awesome. The food is great and affordably priced. Its the kind of place you can visit after school or for dinner. My wee one loves the mac and cheese!
The food and service were both excellent and the place is bright and clean!!! We ordered a pie to go. They have a good selection. We sat at the bar. Eric helped us. He was friendly and provided us a great breakfast experience. We ordered an awesome strawberry muffin but gobbled it down before remembering to take a pic 😉
Great spot! It’s been on my radar for a while, and I’m glad I finally tried it out with my gal. The fried smoked gouda grit balls were extremely interesting. More grits than Gouda for a drier texture. These bite sized treats were a great way to start off the meal! A small cup of tortilla soup was absolutely perfect (in preparation, heartiness, and portion) and an incredible value (I don’t know how they do it at that price). The balsamic bacon brussels sprouts sounded better on the menu than they were. Not that they weren’t good, I was just expecting a little more out of them. I enjoyed them, but probably wouldn’t order them again. Went with the brisket stuffed sweet potato for the main course, and that was also very interesting, and was not disappointed one bit. The brisket was above average, and the sweet potato was perfect. Overall - all four items offered something a little bit different - really hit the spot. Will be back A+
Dish society has been a go to of mine for years and the service and food has always been exceptional! For example today, Jose at the register, was so friendly and helpful with the food choices! Very knowledgeable and his customer service was great! Got to try savory and sweet options I’d definitely recommend such as the ranch style eggs, the Nutella French toast and their fresh baked goods seen in the picture. Their matcha latte and strawberry muffin were top tier! 🍵🍓 this place remains as a staple for midday brunch!
Dish Society is one of my favorite spots for brunch! The Nutella French toast is a must-try—rich, indulgent, and always hits the spot. Their savory options are solid too, with a good variety to choose from. The place has a clean, modern aesthetic that makes it feel both cozy and upscale. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, which adds to the overall great experience. Whether you’re in the mood for sweet or savory, you can’t go wrong here.
The food is absolutely divine. The portions as well are great in my opinion we all had leftovers. Parking is not difficult here. The staff is extremely kind and helpful. The cup the cappuccino comes in is a little small but that is the only negative remark I have. My plate was the brisket and eggs and it as well came with grits beneath it which was heavenly! Definitely will be returning and recommending!
Good absolutely lovely . And portions are very big. We had chicken pesto sandwich and Salomon avocado toast . Ingredients were fresh and well put together. One complaint I have is that toss was poor quality. Better bread would make this of the chains. Also cleaning up tables quicker would be nice
Affordable, straightforward American dishes We tried four entrees at Dish Society: 2 chicken farmers plates, shrimp & grits, and citrus grilled salmon. Dishes were pretty tasty but on the saltier side. The chicken was a bit dry but the salmon was grilled perfectly. Service is solid. You place and pay for your order at the counter, take a seat, and then they bring out the food to your table. The interior is open, bright and airy. Booths are comfy but the chairs are a tad bit heavy.
Their flavors are still pretty good but the portions for certain meals have shrunk. Shrinkflation has hit dish society. But their service is incredible! One of our party wasn't satisfied with overcooked food and they replaced her meal with a new choice from the menu. Kid-friendly atmosphere, fast service, even if a little pricey for the portion sizes.
We came here on Juneteenth. Being a weekday it was not very busy. My wife and I wanted to sit outdoors but the patio area had not been cleaned. We enjoyed our brunch inside and the food was really good. We would come back here again! They had a lot of flavored drinks, teas, and lemonades that sounded good but we didn’t try. If you’re into that check that out.
First, it's not table service, which I didn't realize when it picked it for a lunch with new family members. They do have table service at the bar. The lunch entrees were very salty. The scrambled eggs were very soft. Bacon was very good. French toast with Nutella was unremarkable. Shrimp with grits was good according to the ordered but came with a fried egg (why?). Not sure I would choose this again for any reason. But there were several other groups there, 2 playing mahjong, and seemed to be a standard meeting place.
I've dined in, curbside p/up, and received delivery many times at the Bellaire store. Today (12/15/25) was not so pleasurable. The counter service was excellent. However, the employee follow through was horrible today. I ordered a cup of coffee and was told it was at the beverage station. The coffee canister was completely empty. After waiting about 10 minutes for coffee to be made, I asked for coffee from the bar area. No sugar packets in the caddy on the table. I used some from another table. While at the counter placing our order, I observed the kitchen expediter take her hand out of her pocket and removed a bread product out of a container with her bare hand. I went to the restroom to wash my hands. I walked in to find an employee combing through her hair with her hands and placing a ponytail holder on her hair. Then she stood back to use her cell phone. She walked out of the restroom without washing her hands after combing her hair. There were VERY few paper towels to dry your hands. My sister later went into the restroom and returning to the table looking for napkins to dry her hands because the restroom was now out of paper towels. She too witnessed an employee in the restroom on the phone. I went to the restroom again to use the restroom and the tissue paper was out. Again an employee on the phone texting. The final straw, we were there for 1 hr without anyone stopping by our table to check on us. However, they stopped at tables near and right next to us. It was quite disappointing. There were several steps of service missed. I am not one to to make mountains out of mole hills. However, today was a failure in this location on many levels. I was offended on many levels. As an industry owner my concern is always Health and Safety of my guest. And I expect the same when I dine out. We are held to a higher standard by our health department.
Food was excellent. To answer the follow up, if you are going to offer full service at the bar of a quick service restaurant, you still need a professional bartender. At the very least a professional server acting as bartender. I entertained the idea of just leaving without my credit card for several minutes. I posted the photo so that maybe you would pick up on it without me having to spell it all out, but you had to ask.
The food is amazing with large portions, quality ingredients, and perfectly seasoned. The staff is wonderful and friendly and very welcoming. The atmosphere is great, very relaxing and even with an almost full restaurant it wasn't too loud. Would recommend to everyone. UPDATE: So after having come here many of times we decided to bring some family from out of town. We go to find seats and lots of tables for smaller groups, but all larger tables showed reserved. So I asked a staff member if I can combine 2 tables. He said sure, and while I was combining them another staff(guessing a manager) came over rude about me moving the tables. Then he moved tables to combine them when I pointed out all the tables that are larger were reserved. The dude was rude for no reason though and needs to be taught how to deal with customers. It is insane that he got mad about moving a table, yet I saw some guy climbing the brick wall even. Honestly not sure if I will ever come back after the attitude the manager had. To add to it the food wasn't as good as it use to be.
Iam so done with this spot. It was All Good in the beginning but these last three trips have been horrible. I usually order the kale/cabbage w/ the fried chic peas and chicken tender on top w/ dressing on the side today i attempted it again and again the chicken tender was crusty cold and chopped into pieces to make it look like it was a full serving when it wasn’t. Barely any cabbage Chickpeas cold, hard & Oh don’t ask for a refund the mgr on duty will bark at you as she has done to me before for their own trickery. It was ten minutes before brunch mind you ,,,, i felt like i really wasted my 8$
