If you’re ever flying out of Terminal D at IAH, you’re in for a treat! Hugo’s is hands down the best spot for food in the entire airport. Whether you’re in the mood for something light or hearty, their menu delivers top-notch quality and flavor that’s a cut above the usual airport fare. I had the grilled chicken taco with corn tortilla and salsa, and it was absolutely delicious! The chicken was perfectly cooked, the tortillas were fresh, and the salsa had just the right kick to tie it all together. It’s the kind of meal that makes you forget you’re in an airport and instead feels like a culinary escape. On top of the amazing food, the service at Hugo’s is unmatched. Shaw, who took care of us, went above and beyond to ensure our experience was nothing short of perfect. He made sure we had everything we needed, helped us feel comfortable, and managed our time so we could enjoy our meal without the stress of rushing to our flight. If you find yourself in Terminal D, don’t miss out on Hugo’s. Great food, exceptional service, and a dining experience you won’t forget—what more could you ask for?

I stopped by for a quick meal before my flight, and the experience was fantastic. Despite arriving around 10:40 with a flight at 11:05, my food was served quickly, and I was able to finish by 10:55—just in time! My server, Adam, was exceptional—friendly, engaging, and happy to chat about the dish I ordered. He made the visit even more enjoyable, and I truly appreciated his service.

Great food. Order with QR code and food is brought to you straight from the kitchen. The drinks are good but expensive but that’s airport prices. We had chicken taquitos and the fish tacos, both plates nicely, and made fresh.

Good food with a very pleasant atmosphere. The ambience is surprisingly relaxing for being in the center of a busy international airport terminal. There is even side "pick and go area", self-service and self pay for pre-packaged items.

Hugo Ortega is the chef and Restauranteur Power House behind this eatery spot at the airport. I gather is difficult to combine fast food and great taste, however, for those of us that are not just casual travelers hoping from plane to plane at IAH, an establishment with the name “Hugo’s” in Houston, TX is expected a bit more taste. My kind regards to Hugo and his lovely partner in crime

Stopped in for a quick coffee and a wine. Be prepared as the wine is super expensive. The staff were super cool and helpful. The food and drinks were all prepared quickly. If you have half an hour it is worth calling past.

I was travelling through Houston international Airport and stopped by this place for lunch. It was pretty packed and everything was self service. Only one waitress was working and she cleaned the table for me. They have the menu in QR code. You order online and also can pay online. The food was brought to me. I got ‘camarons ajilo’ which was fresh, spicy, and flavorful although a bit expensive.

We had to place our order and pay by phone, but we had a very attentive server who checked on us numerous times while we were doing so. The food came quickly. My tortilla soup had lots of tender chicken in it. My only complaints would be that it was lukewarm and needed more seasoning. My husband said the same thing about enchiladas and rice. It was cool and needed seasoning.

The food is barley acceptable. The service is not vert welcome. I ordered a Ham Sandwich and the ham was cold, the rest of the sandwich was hot, very strange sensation. We ordered a beer but glass was very dirty, couldn’t use it. Guacamole was ok

Very expensive, the beans and rice are Tex-Mex, if that. The tostadas were thin, the fish tacos were kind of chewy and soggy at the same time. Not a fan and will not eat here again. Service is all through an app, a waitress brings out your food and that's the last time you see her unless you order something else from the app.

Why is it impossible to get a beer in this empty place? There's more staff than patrons. I'm offended. Online system says to consult server. Eventually a friendly guy named Shaw came to help and I don't even think he was working bar. He gets a star.

I got 2 shrimp tacos. Each taco had 2 shrimp that were fried too long. That took 35 minutes to receive. That cost $25. The table was never wiped down, the server never brought me any water, yet I was automatically charged 20% gratuity.

Terrible service, rude and loud staff. Pricey food. Absolutely no professionalism. More people walked out of this place than those walked in. They could care less about the fact it was running empty.

I know it is airport food, but though the veggies and cheese in the quesadilla were good, the tortillas were not edible. For the price I expected better. No table service really, though the young lady who ran the food out was pleasant.

I don't even know what to say. Food is okay but doesn't look fresh. Only 2 waitresses on a Wednesday which seemed quite busy and didn't even brought silverware set, just a fork. I forgot to mention that the system was down and they were not accepting cards so I had to pay cash. I got up to request the bill, waitress tells be to wait which is fine, later when she comes she lets me know tip is not included. I get it, hand out a $50 bill and no change... Idk, I guess they should be more prepared for this. Overall disappointing service.

Awful all around. I echo other reviewers who have had similar experience. Staff were rude. I heard them arguing and being unpleasant to other customers. They made us think they were doing us a favor. They had no hot drinks. My partner had a beer and we went off in search of decency. Having 20% service charge added was outrageous. Do yourself a kindness and go somewhere else.

That was one of the worst places I've ever eaten. The food wasn't worth the price, the service technically didn't exist. I've waited forever for my food and when I just wanted to ask nicely if they forgot me they were super rude like that's none of her business I'm not not your waitress leave me alone. And for that "service" you're forced to pay 20% tips, that's just outrageous. Eat somewhere else.

Food is just ok (very limited menu), but the service is what kills this place. Our server was outright rude to not just us but several tables within ear shot, when they asked to speak to the manager (Kayla) she was just as apathetic, saying she couldn’t do anything bc Hugo Cocina didn’t hire her. I pointed out that as a manager she could speak to her employee, which several tables were complaining about at this point, she agreed she “could” but never conceded to actually do it, in fact she seemed agitated that I had even asked. 4 tables left, all unsatisfied with the service specifically. The only reason this place is in business in my opinion is that it’s the first sit down restaurant on terminal D. Avoid at all costs.

One of the most expensive lunches we’ve had in a while. The service was very poor to say the best. Complained to the manager but her attitude was even worse. Confrontational and passive aggressive attitude. Manger was Kala

My pozole did not come with vegetables as shown in the menu. The pozole had 6 small pieces of chicken and that’s it for over $20 a bowl. Also, the bartender and kitchen chef got into an argument in front of everyone. Not good at all. Do not recommend.

QR code system/website is terrible and borderlines on non-functional, providing little to no feedback about submitted orders. Checkout is hidden/not displayed properly. Bartenders are trying their best but are not allowed to take orders like a normal bar. Experience suffers as a result.

thanksgiving day 2026 no sign that mentions sit yourself. No menu other than at the door. They expect you to follow QR code which in my case did not work. And then when they help out with QR code, they want to force you for a 20% tip, included (no optional). Intended to pay on cash and they want the 20% tip for just opening a bottle of beer. (the other waiter, who serve me was not the main server "supposedly was the bar guy"). He told me to never come back, that he was going to call the security at the airport and ask for my name and gate and he said he will find me... What an attitude?

Not impressed. They only had 2 waiters for the whole restaurant. Waiters seem stressed 😥, I felt bad for them. They need to figure out the self ordering tablet and delivery. It took 30 min to even get drink orders. For an Hugo Ortega restaurant (been to all of them) and it being in the airport, stay away from this place. Not worth the wait. Go to Chick-fil-A, much more efficient

From start to finish the dining experience was disappointing. The server seemed a bit overwhelmed and the manager needs to be retrained on how to be an effective leader or needs to find a new job - preferably not in customer service! The manager (I did not retrieve her name) but I can describe her as a plus-size, fair-skinned average height woman who was extremely fake, unenthusiastic, and sarcastic to my friends and I. She was unprofessional and took no accountability for the missing items, cold food, and lack thereof we received. However, the server was somewhat apologetic and had more sense than the manager! Overall, the food and service - I would not even recommend a dog to go there. Fellow travelers, go at your own risk!

Extremely underwhelming. I am very disappointed in how poor my experience was. As a hospitality manager myself, This location needs some attention from hire ups. The manager was incredibly rude and unprofessional. We waited forever for food only to be finally told they were out of it. mind you time is essential when you’re waiting on a fight. (And they were out of multiple things we ordered) To add, the parts of the food that did come to the table came missing things or cold. I’m typically very lenient because I understand the industry and know some things are out of our control however how you handle those things matter. And from the looks of other reviews this place has been neglected by it’s corporate team or they simple don’t care. I hate to write negative reviews because I understand how it can impact a business but it wouldn’t be fair to people looking for a good experience if I didn’t. I gave them an opportunity to fix it before writing this review and it was grossly mishandled. Go at your own risk. The food takes forever, and the service is subpar. (IAH, Houston, Texas airport location)

Extremely Disappointing Experience – Avoid If You’re In a Rush I don’t usually write reviews, but my friends and I had such a frustrating experience at Hugo Cocina (Houston International Airport) during our layover last night that I felt compelled to share. We stopped in for a quick drink and had a few beers while waiting for our flight. Things started off fine, but when it came time to pay, the service completely broke down. Our original waitress had disappeared, and when we politely asked another staff member (an Asian waitress) if we could settle the bill — especially since we were running close to boarding time — her response was incredibly rude and aggressive. Instead of helping us, she became confrontational and even threatened to call the police just because we asked her to take cash payment. It was completely unnecessary and unprofessional. We ended up waiting over 15 minutes just to pay a simple tab, and nearly missed our flight because of it. We understand that things can get hectic at an airport restaurant, but there’s no excuse for this kind of treatment. There was zero effort to assist or communicate, just hostility when we were simply trying to pay and leave. It turned what should’ve been a relaxing layover into a very stressful situation. Definitely will not be returning to Hugo Cocina. If you’re at IAH and value your time and dignity, you’re better off grabbing something elsewhere
