Meo Bar Houston Reviews
Started with the pho carpaccio, love the tossed arugula on top. The egg rolls were the crispiest I've ever had, very good! The dumplings were also a fun appetizer, served in a sizzling hot bowl. The kimchi isn't too spicy which I really appreciate. Thoroughly enjoyed one of my favorite Vietnamese dishes, the shaken beef. The rice in all the dishes is perfection!! My husband enjoyed his chicken fried rice. We both had two lovely cocktails, my favorite the lychee martini. Would definitely recommend for somewhere delicious and not uppity!
We really enjoyed our visit at Meo Bar! The atmosphere was fantastic, with decorative walls and a candle light on the table. The secret door was a great idea and it really gave a fun vibe to the place. We visited during the happy hours and we ordered three appetizers— fried okra, spicy rice rolls, and shrimp skewers. The spicy rice rolls and shrimp skewers were delicious. The sauce that came with the shrimp was really tasty, and we loved the spicy rice rolls. It could become a really good drinking snack. We were fine with the okra, something about the sauce we were just not a fan of. For entrees we ordered the crispy pork belly and the pork belly fried rice. We really loved the fried rice, the flavor was there, the pork belly in the fried rice was tender. It was coated in a tangy savory sauce, and we thought it might be yummier than the crispy pork belly entree. The crispy pork belly was okay. The drinks though, were probably our favorite items of the night. Highly recommend the pandam. It came in a cute cat cup. The toasted rice milk really popped up and went well with the coconut cream and citrus flavors infused into the rum. You got a small hint of pandan at the end. We also got the lychee to the limit from the HH menu, which was surprisingly not too sweet and, heavily spiced. Unlike other lychee cocktails you usually have from other places.
Wonderful experience! Prefect atmosphere, not over crowded when we were there. All drinks are great and food is awesome. Will definitely return again! Our new favorite place to go! The pork belly fried rice was amazing, we cleaned every plates we ordered!
Love the place! If you’re looking for a nice place for a date this is it. I ordered the pork belly, egg rolls, shaking beef and the shrimp skewers. The pork belly was definitely everyone’s favorite!
Fantastic Asian Inspired Speakeasy in the Heights. I came here as stop over for a cocktail before heading off to dinner. But then, I ended up trying all their dumplings! Excellent menu and delicious dumplings and appetizers! I highly recommend the brussel sprouts and the brisket wasabi dumplings. The ambiance is a solid 10/10 and the bar seating is comfortable. I especially appreciate the booth seating along the walls. This is a great date spot or a starting spot before an evening out. The staff was very pleasant and they were quick with the drinks. I returned for a second visit already and I loved the ambiance even more that second trip. Total ticket was very reasonable.
One of the best iced viet coffees I’ve had! It was perfect not too sweet not too strong just right! The decor of this place is amazing! The lunch specials are priced super fair! Like they are giving out free food at this point! Nice place to hang out in the heights! The owners are really kind friendly people too
This place is such a vibe! I wasn’t expecting much when I walked in, but wow—every drink was a hit! Loved everything from the cocktails to the small plates. 10/10 will be back. Highly recommend for a date night or hangout !!!
Awesome speakeasy. It's very chill, creative, and entertaining. Staff is friendly, and the flavors are unique. I enjoyed the decor, and the food is pretty good. Especially if you like creative dumplings. I highly recommend trying the brisket Wasabi dumplings. Some critiques I have were the Kimchi butter dumplings needed a little refinement (they were a bit bland), and the timing between ordering food and receiving was a bit disappointing. It was IMO way too long, unless they were making them from scratch. However, I am a Patient customer, and I was enjoying my drink and company. I really enjoyed the Salty Kitty Cocktail and the Pandamonium. They have many more to try! Come see for yourself!
What a cute speakeasy! Tucked inside a Chinese restaurant, this unsuspecting bar is such a treat to discover. On top of that, the drinks were exciting and delicious! I had the matcha gin drink which blended so much more perfectly than I could have imagined. Also tried the salty kitty; a little too sweet for me but love the contrast and creativity of the salty foam and sweet drink underneath. Bartenders are knowledgeable, helpful and playfully sassy. Great convo and insight on the menu. Don't tell anyone about this place so we can keep it to ourselves! We'll be back soon for dumplings!!
Loveeee the vibes here and the food is good too. My favorite is the spicy rice rolls and their Lychee martini is a fave of mine. It can get busy on the weekends but during the week is pretty chill with good music in the background.
Got the yuzu paloma, old fashioned, lychee gimlet, and Brenda's violet hour. The drinks were so aesthetic and delicious although I wasnt a fan of the candy sweet/salty taste of the salty kitty. But overall 10/10 vibes. The squid ink shu mai was unique and a good bar bite.
Love this “speakeasy” vibe! The decor is cheek & fun! The drinks … Yes Please!! They are so pretty & delicious! Everyone enjoyed their food & especially the craft cocktails! This is a definite must try!
Such a cool new spot! It’s a beautiful space and the cocktails are creative and fantastic. We got the spicy rice rolls, brussel sprouts, roasted corn dumplings and brisket dumplings and everything was absolutely delicious. Can’t wait to go back!

I helped host an event at the awesome speakeasy, Meo, inside Wokker on Airline. The entrance to Meo is super clever with a hidden button and then the room itself was spacious with plenty of seating. We had dumplings and egg rolls at our event both of which were SO good (like I will be going back for dinner soon because the flavors were so delightful). The drinks were interesting and tasty. Overall I could not have asked for a better space, and I highly recommend hosting events (or just eating) there!
Andy is always very attentive, and gives me a 10/10 experience. Knowledgeable man, and you can see he takes pride in his work. The kitchen is great, I came across the bar by coming to eat at Wokker occasionally. Whether you’re on a solo night cap, or want to wow your friends/date by coming into this awesome decorated space, it’s my go to for the chill night out.

This place is worth it just for the atmosphere. They also have a lot of different, prettily decorated, cocktails (though I just had coke.) We only had appetizers: kimchi butter dumplings, carpaccio, and egg rolls, and the food was pretty good. We ordered 4 different appetizers, 3 cocktails, and a coke and the bill was $80. I cannot vouch for any of the entree's. However, I would go back.
I been there around three times around noon time and it's okay. Service is great and coffee for the new lunch menu is on point. Food left me wanting a bit more. Shaken beef was overly salty and the bo tai wasn't seasoned well. Not the worst spot for the area but mainly go there for the drinks over the food

This was my 2nd time going because I loved it the 1st time I went. I will say I was a bit disappointed on the porkbelly this time. The quality cut we got was mainly fat, not really edible. Had a few pieces and ended up making me sick after leaving the restaurant. All the fat made me 🤢🤮 Hope they do better in serving better quality of porkbelly. I understand it's a fatty meat, but this was purely fat under the crispy top skin. The drinks were delicious and the other foods we ordered were good like the first time. Nice fun ambiance.
We arrived and it took a minute for the bartender to get the door (they should make it so the door opens up by it self instead of having the busy bartender open the door each time people arrive) we sat down, looked at the menu and the bartender let us know to order at the bar. They bring the drinks and food to your table. The cocktails are great, the food not so much IMO. The dumplings are the only food items that are salvageable. The prices are average.

…pretty disappointing experience. Hidden speakeasy inside Wokker. When we ring the bell - nobody opened the door - we had to wait until some customer left and opened the door. The interior and atmosphere is pretty “trippy”. The lights and the music let you feel a bit like on mushrooms. Fun but also very simple…this is not an upscale place at all. The worst thing about this bar are the drinks. The Yule old fashioned had a very weird taste and it was so bad that I couldn’t even finish half of it. Also the Meo Gin Tonic had strange aftertaste and was overall not a tasty gin tonic at all. I also cannot recommend kimchi dumplings - the kimchi is not a real kimchi. It was more like some poorly marinated cabbage. The dumpling filling not flavorful.
