One Dragon Houston Reviews
The crispy bottom shrimp and pork bao were amazing and so were the soup dumplings. The star for me were the greens, absolutely fantastic. This chive pancakes were crispy, flaky and chewy. The service was amazing and the staff were very friendly. Also the braised pork belly reminded me of the dish my friends mom would make all the time. Can’t wait to come back!
This has been on my list of want to go to Houston restaurants for ages, and after finally going today I’m sad I didn’t go earlier. Food was delicious (soup dumplings and tofu skin wrap) and the staff were really nice. A really rude Karen type customer came in while I was eating and I was impressed by how pleasant the staff were to her. I wouldn’t have had the patience for a customer like that (I guess that’s why I don’t own a restaurant), but they were great. Excited to return and try other dishes!
The pork belly is amazingly fatty, no ozempic piggies here. The bun perfect puffiness and crispness. Lions head is really good too, might be a bit better if a bit firmer but still insanely good.
Very good and would visit again. I ordered: Pork soup dumplings (xiaolongbao) Crispy pork buns Scallion noodles In my quest to find delicious soup dumplings in Houston, I've had chunky/thick "broth" and wasn't a fan of the texture nor the flavor. Here, they did not disappoint! I'm ecstatic that I've finally found a yummy spot with fantastic Xiaolongbao- thin "skins" and lots of broth/soup. They were so good, I ordered a 2nd serving. The scallion noodles are homemade/hand pulled and were delicious. I abhor any kind of raw onion flavor and was nervous to order "scallion" noodles but these were great. Even sitting here writing this, I can still taste the flavor- so good. The crispy pork buns were good but not my jam. I did eat the pork out of them which was great but I've never been a big bao person. Space is small but service is quick and they are not shy to get your order (so I'd scan the menu and pick what you want before hand to try and speed things up). My food came out quick and hot. There is steady traffic through this place so I was glad to snag a table upon walking in.
Food was excellent and highly recommend the soup dumplings. The waitress was so nice and even talked us through suggestions on the menu of which we got and enjoyed a lot. Pork spare ribs, pork belly, and sweet and sour chicken were all great and again the pork soup dumplings were amazing too!
I have never written a review before but I just had to for this place. Hands down, the BEST soup dumplings I've ever had. My partner and I always come here for the dumplings and the braised pork belly. Anywhere else we've gone, the dumplings just aren't the same and we end up disappointed. This place is a small hole in the wall but the food, people and atmosphere are amazing. I can't recommend them enough. You won't regret it!
One Dragon is a true gem in Houston’s dumpling scene! Their soup dumplings are hands down some of the best in the city — delicate, flavorful, and bursting with hot, savory broth. A must-order every time. The sautéed green beans are also the bomb. They are perfectly blistered, garlicky, and addictively good. We also loved the tofu skin wrap, which was light yet rich in flavor. It is a really delicious and unique dish. The crispy bottom bao were also great. They are golden and crunchy on the bottom, soft and juicy on top. The service is friendly and attentive. The interior is pretty small, so it fills up fast, but it adds to the cozy, hole in the wall vibe. If you love soup dumplings or just solid Chinese food, One Dragon should definitely be on your list.
One Dragon is my new favorite Chinese spot! Seriously, everything I ordered was amazing. I got the tofu skin wrap, xiu long bao (soup dumplings!), fried buns, and fried shrimp – and it was all so authentic and delicious. You can tell they really know what they're doing. Plus, the staff was super friendly, and the prices are a steal! If you're looking for real, high-quality Chinese food without breaking the bank, One Dragon is a must-try.
Pretty solid hole in the wall spot 👌 the staff is super friendly and welcoming. The service is very quick, they make sure you are well taken care of. The prices were pretty good. We got the braised pork belly and the shrimp crispy bao, both were really great!! It felt verh authentic. We were very surprised that it was more than enough food for 2 people. Definitely would recommend!
Great Shanghainese food! Loved the most their xiao long bao with pork and shrimp. Pork Belly was very tender and almost melted in my mouth. Crispy skin duck was delicious. The chinese stir fried eggplant was great too. Everything we ordered was top notch! Very fair prices. Can fully recommend this place!
Okay, I’m going to say it - this is one of my favorite places in Houston to eat. One dragon is a no-frills shop run by some of the nicest wait staff around. They are very courteous and efficient and their recommendations are great. Now on to the food - it’s amazing. The sweet and sour pork spare ribs brought me back to my childhood when my mom would cook me the same meal on special occasions. The xiao long bao is equally delicious, with just the right amount of soup inside the dumpling and unbelievably thin (but robust) dumpling skin. All dishes were perfectly portioned and seasoned well. One dragon is a must-try if you’re in Houston!
The food is beyond delicious! Soup dumplings are AMAZING! The crisp bottom ones were PERFECT! I love the portions and kindness of the workers, the atmosphere however is not so pleasant. I have anxiety, and there’s A LOT of elders eating here that will stare at you watching u eat and watching ur hand to see how u use chopsticks cause u don’t get utensils there. It was a little uncomfortable but our waiters kindness will calm me down a little bit. Depending how full it is, u will feel in a rush cause it is a small restaurant and it’s very popular so the tables fill in fast. I love this place, but next time I will ask take out to enjoy the food 100%
We tried this one after my son was looking fot somewhere he could eat with his no fried food diet. We ended in this small - yet cute and delicious restaurant. We got two types.of dumplings. The ones with the fried bottom sooo very good. The duck was very good, crispy, and a big chunky good serving - not greasy at all. I got green beans because i just cant eat a meal with no veggies and they were soo good. My son who NEVER eats green beans ate them! Service was on point! Would definetely visit again
This Shanghainese restaurant can really help ease a bit of homesickness. While the dishes may not be strictly authentic restaurant-style Shanghainese cuisine, the flavors feel more like home-style cooking—similar to what parents might make at home. The food is comforting and familiar, which is something I really appreciate. It’s not about fancy presentation or complex techniques, but more about simple dishes that bring a sense of warmth and nostalgia. Overall, it’s a nice place to go when you’re craving homey Shanghainese flavors and a comforting meal that reminds you of family cooking.
Overall, they had pretty decent Shanghai-style cuisine. The eight of us ordered a bunch of dishes for dinner, some of them like the Shanghai smoked fish were flavorful but some of them weren't to be recommended like the tender sweet & sour pork ribs (meat was not tender but dry). And the portion wasn't big enough.
A satisfying place to get good soup dumplings and other Taiwan and Chinese dishes. It’s pricey, but not as much as certain name brand locations with soup dumplings, and the portion sizes are good. If you get dumplings, definitely do both pork and shrimp, it’s worth the up charge compared to just the pork. Definitely the most broth heavy dumplings I’ve had! The pork belly is definitely a must try, and the service is very very nice and pays close attention to what you need. Good place to try soup dumplings if you’ve never had and don’t want to break the bank!
I came here after seeing good things on TikTok. Ive had better dumplings they weren’t that bad. Now the service. It was awful the servers literally rushed us and added a tip without telling us. Then the server tried charging more money on my card but it declined luckily for potential fraud.
Shadow of what this restaurant once was. Portions were extra small for the price. Food doesn't taste the same same as it used to, everything was overly salty and the style of the Kung pao chicken changed too (we're guessing change of chef). We order their pan fry buns and it never even arrived. There were 2 other parties who arrive after us and they got their buns/baos before us and we still never received ours. They might once be famous for their buns but we couldn't give a honest opinion on the buns if it change or not since we never got ours. Have to ask the waitress twice where is our bao and she just say it is coming, although we order the bao before our food and we finish our dinner and it is still coming. End up canceling the bao and had to ask the waitress twice for to go boxes. It'll be our last time eating here.
I went here for dinner with my in-laws and was really disappointed. The food was okay, but the service was terrible. No one checked on us, asked if we needed anything else, or even refilled our water. When I went to pay, I still tried to be polite and left a 10% tip. Shockingly, the woman came right up to our table in front of my in-laws and demanded a 20% tip — even though the service didn’t deserve it at all. What a shame. They need to learn that good service earns a good tip — not guilt-trip people for it. This kind of behavior just turns the tipping culture into a scam. They treat customers rudely and like idiots. I won’t be coming back and don’t recommend this place to anyone.
