Red Pepper Houston Reviews
Great Chinese Cuisine reminds me of back home in Chi-City. My go-to is Chicken 🐔 or Shrimp 🍤 Egg 🥚 Foo Yung...crazy tasting. Great variety and a Lunch Staple in that Uptown/Galleria Westheimer/Chimney Rock Corridor. Great Staff and Family-Owned and Operated...friendly and solid location.
Took my dad out for lunch on a Friday afternoon (not too crowded) and had a great experience! Service was outstanding from refills to making sure our food was to our liking. As for the food itself it was very delicious (and fresh) loved the chilli oil! I definitely recommend this place for great food at a decent price and service.
The lunch is reasonably priced and the food was good. The restaurant is small and quite busy. Employees are nice and chill. I ordered the beef and vegetables with egg roll and wonton soup, everything was great and not overpowering with sodium like some other places.
The food was prepared quickly and was delivered hot. It was fresh and delicious. The shrimp are decent size and the sauce is very tasty. The rice was perfectly sticky. Was I couldn’t finish everything so I am taking the rest to go in a container (see picture). I recommend this restaurant for any occasion and I will definitely be coming back. Gary and Tom were both very friendly and helpful. I wish more of my dining experiences were this nice.
You can taste how fresh the ingredients are. I got Four Delight and the beef chicken shrimp and scallops are all perfectly cooked and tender. Absolutely blown away.
This place is one of the best Chinese restaurants I have ever been to. They were extremely helpful and courteous. Their egg drop soup was some of the best egg drop soups I have ever had. I am very thankful that I found this wonderful place just up the street from my hotel. I can't wait for the next time I am in Houston to stop here again. I got the sizzling seafood combination and it was a delicious and filling meal. Their in house soy sauce is also very good. Thank you for a great time!
I eat at this place almost every day for lunch and without fail they always meet my expectations of excellent Chinese food! From amazing customers service to serving excellent food with reasonable pricing and portions. I love red pepper and definitely would be going here til the end of time! I always recommend the kung pao chicken & General Tso with their soups!

Service and Food were great

Not a fancy place. But the food and the price compared to most restaurants in this region is great in the portions were awesome.
I've ordered takeout a few times. Service is good. They always included all the extra necessities (fork, soy sauce, mustard, etc) without prompting. Food is exactly what you want it to be. It gives classic American Chinese food. Change nothing.
This place has been heaven for me and my wife. We love this place so much we drove from San Antonio to Houston just to eat at this place. The food is always amazing and tasty! Seasoned to perfection with an amazing portion that you’ll have left overs! Service is always amazing and the place always feels welcoming. Definitely recommend!
Attentive staff good food. We ate the crispy duck, garlic eggplant, and bbq ribs!

Randomly stopped here on the way home! Got orange chicken and rice to go! Wow , so good! Amazing taste and the white rice doesn’t get any better! The service was great as well! Super nice people & Got my food super quick! At first when they rang up my price I was a little shock bc 17 bucks for orange chicken is up there, but totally worth it !!!
My family & I have been coming here for years. They do give you your drinks in a to go container which doesn’t bother me. You technically get a lot. We always get the sizzling beef and add shrimp. Which is amazing! Love their hot & sour soup. Never really had a bad experience here. Can’t comment on their lunch menu since we always get same thing. But we are always happy with what we order.
Had the kung pao chicken and stir fried string beans with pork. Kung Pao dish was pretty large and done right - mostly chicken, peanuts, and very very small amount of onions - not gravy saucy either, just a little. They could have put more peanuts. Request to make it extra spicy was ignored. Tasted very good. String beans were equally tasty with tender pork. The beans could have used a little more char time in the wok. Fixed it by doing it myself. I suspect with the large quantity of rice that came with it, two people could get two meals each out of the two dishes 🤣. Overall good.
Good service. Very friendly staff. Enjoyed food. I had broccoli and beef. Was very tasty. My dad had #15 and was a tad bit too spicy!

Yesterday I went to this establishment to get a quick bite to eat. It didn’t work out so well for me In the beginning. The waiter was very, very rude, and basically kicked me out of the establishment Simply, because I ordered food and decided to eat it there At the time they were not at all busy. I got my money back and then I left without any food. I was so hungry. About an hour to an hour and a half later I went back with my daughter it was convenient due to we were at the lash place next-door. My daughter and I decided we will get food after we leave the lash place. and we didn’t want to drive far. if you know me, I needed a quick snack and pick me up so I decided to go to red pepper Chinese restaurant to get a snack but like I said, the waiter was very rude. I got my money back and I left. The reason he was so rude was do to I changed my mind about taking it to go later me and my daughter went back. I ordered food she ordered food. We were a lot happier. I had to let go what the employee did to me earlier and move past it . I did finally realize that the owner was there, and I brought my concern to him. He actually listened to me. He was very helpful and explained the situation and he fixed it and so me and my daughter may go back in the future. Our food was good and Mr. Harold the owner was very nice. He assured me he would talk w the rude waiter and set the record straight. So you go and see for yourself what you think but this is my honest review of the place.

We got raw chicken dumplings. Our server told the owner who didn’t seem to care. We had already ordered the rest of our food so we didn’t cancel. The food was good, and service was okay. But if I get salmonella I’m suing.

A bold but not entirely successful spin on classic Chinese takeout where instead of the usual stir-fry and sauces all of the dishes are steamed and served in bowls of warm water. No, I'm not kidding. I ordered lunch from this place twice thinking it was a fluke, but they literally DO NOT sauce their dishes. This is a photograph of the "very spicy" "jalapeno chicken." Very spicy in this case meant stuffing it with more *bell* peppers, and the chicken and jalapenos were, as near as I can tell, straight-up boiled. There is zero color on anything and the liquid is unflavored apart from faint overtones from the jalapenos. I didn't take a photo of the beef and broccoli I tried ordering first, but it was a similar story. This establishment's four star review average is a stunning indictment of review algorithms, the average Westheimer inhabitant's palate, or both.
Stopped by for an order of General Tso shrimp to go (add sprouts). The shrimp were swimming in extra sweet sauce and sprouts. No other veggies, No Flavor. No Flavor…No Flavor. Sweet Shrimp Soup. No salt,No Spice. Sugar. That’s it.
