Slowdrip TX Houston Reviews
Located on corner of Pease St. I was excited they had parking until I was greeted by Marty & took my first bite. I felt like in was in Louisiana eating moms cooking 😋 & listening 🎶 to Cajun tunes. The entire time holding back the sniffles from a great seasoned meal (black-eyed peas, rice, green beans & corn) folks from Louisiana could relate & appreciate. It was so good I ordered food for 🍽 dinner.
Came in here because it's close to my job and I fell in love! I had a bowl of gumbo and it was just like I was in Louisiana. Super hardy and flavorful not to mention the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. It had such a homey comfortable feel to it! 10/10 would recommend to a friend.
Love this place!!! Truly authentic Cajun cooking. My mouth is watering just writing this review about how delicious their jambalaya is. Very laid-back, friendly, comfortable atmosphere.
I love coming here for my Cajun fix. I’m assuming the cashier (the guy) is the owner. Fantastic customer service!! Very welcoming and cozy little spot, feels like home! Plentiful portions and always mouthwatering. Cornbread is good as well, try it out! And yes, I killed all those plates lol
I had the crawfish, corn and green beans and loved it!! I come here almost twice a week now when I’m at work. The atmosphere is relaxing and the food is Delicious. You must give them a try. I’m So excited they are even doing take out of some of their most popular dishes in the bowl size at night now!
The best fried chicken and bread pudding that I've ever had in my life! Side dishes are solid. Prices are reasonable for the quality of the food. May not look like much from the outside, but truly a hidden gem!
Randomly found this diner while in town. Had the Cajun fried chicken, red beans, and fries. All food was extremely fresh and delicious!!
Found this little gem just passing by!! Amazing authentic cajun food! I had their baked chicken, green beans, and corn. So much depth of flavor in every bite!! I don’t think I could have enjoyed it more!
I didn't already give this place 5 stars?!! Anyway this little soulful gem in downtown Houston is great. Sure, the Mexican guy behind the counter asks what you want and then sometimes stares with contempt but after that it's all good vibes and delicious Cajun food. BYOB if you want. And definitely support Ma & Pa operations over gross corporations before we loose them!
There is parking. We went for lunch mid week, it is a nice reprieve from all the same looking office buildings. They staff are extremely friends. The food was good. Our group ordered the shrimp creole, crawfish etouffee, shrimp poboy with gumbo and the fried catfish. Everyone left satisfied. Especially our picking eating 4 year old that ate all his catfish.
Love this place! They have the best cajun seafood in town. The staffs are always so friendly! There always parking available. Great spot for lunch! The fried catfish is especially great! My boyfriend is a big fan! My ultimate favorite is definitely the stuffed shrimps! They are so flavorful and fresh. And the gumbo is to die for!
I love this place. Zydeco Louisiana diner is different. It’s located in downtown Houston but nothing in the immediate surrounding areas remind you of downtown. It’s in an unassuming building with plenty adjacent parking. It’s not your fancy downtown restaurant dining experience. It’s is good hometown, southern and Cajun cafeteria style food. Although the menu is limited, the food they serve is outstanding. If you’re ready to drop the suit and the tie feel free to go down the peace Street and enjoy your down-home meal downtown.
The food is always good. It defines Cajun food for me. The restaurant is buffet-style and the service is good for what it is; everyone is friendly and the dishes are clean. I've been eating there for about 35 years and it hasn't really changed in that time, which is totally fine. I like it just the way it is. It's my go-to for Cajun lunch.
Zydeco Diner is an amazing spot to grab lunch and try Louisiana kitchen. Also easy reachable from GRB convention center. Every food we tried was so tasteful and very fresh at more than a fair price. The owner Marty is one of a kind, super welcoming and hospitable. Being back in Houston absolutely means visiting Zeydeco for me. Thanks for the amazing experience!!
10/30/24 update: the food quality has gone down, unfortunately. I had the fried shrimp and fish to go. While the fish was cooked deliciously, the shrimp seemed old and cooked 3 times over. It was not the same as it was in the past. Good is always piping HOOTTTTTT like I like it! This is the fried shrimp platter with fries and jambalaya rice with the juiciest, most tender chicken ever. I recommend the chicken and sausage gumbo here. Seafood is my favorite, but I dont like it here. The chicken is very tender and has GREAT flavor!
I went here for the first time around 11 on a Tuesday. Somehow every 20+ customers at the establishment were men 😆 As a woman, it made me a bit uncomfortable, but the staff were welcoming and helped point me to specials they have today. I ended up getting the shrimp jambalaya. Food was decent, could be more spiced for my taste. My favorite was the cornbread. While I was eating two more women came in.
I loved the old Louisiana vibez here! Staff is very hospitable and nice. its a buffet line type place and the guy serving gave me a good suggestion of the seafood creole. it was very good. but the sides were mid to me. And the bread pudding i was looking forward to the most was out by the time i got there to eat at 12 :/ Its okay tho! Next time I def wanna try the fried chicken or poboy. Prices are very good for seafood. Lots of flavor!
