Tacos La Bala Houston Reviews
SUPER LOW PRICES for great food. One of Houston's best crazy cheap restaurants. The tacos were delicious and filling, and the menu was quite extensive. Staff was helpful and I cannot stress how cheap this place is, especially compared to the food quality.
Authentic Tacos That Transport You Straight to Mexico! This taco shop is DELICIOUS! I had the lengua, tripa dorada, and barbacoa tacos, and each one was absolutely amazing—packed with flavor and cooked to perfection. The authenticity reminded me of being back in Mexico. The tripa was crispy just the way it should be, the lengua was tender and flavorful, and the barbacoa was rich and juicy. You can tell they put care into every detail. If you're craving true Mexican street-style tacos, this is the spot. Their aguas frescas were the perfect complement. Highly recommended!
Authentic Mexican food. Their food taste like when I'm in Mexico. It doesn't take long for it to come out. Update 3/6/2022 - Came here on a busy Sunday and the place was packed with super long lines and surprisingly the line went super fast and people left super quick. The place is well maintained by the cleaning crew because as soon as someone leaves there they are cleaning and picking plates up. The food is still amazing and delicious.
I absolutely love, love, love this place! Aside: fun story time. I was once here at night, a woman was walking around asking people for 10 cents. The only thing is that if you said no, she wouldn't leave your table she would just keep standing there until you gave her something. I wasn't having this so told her that she would have to leave us alone otherwise I'd call the cops. She called me several very rude words (the kind that starts with a c) but shuffled away. After I left Tacos La Bala, she followed me out to my car and started banging on my window. I just drove away but for anyone dining here alone or dining here at night, I would just be wary of your surroundings. And apparently don't threaten to call the cops, haha. None of the servers here really speak English so when I tried to explain to them what had happened they didn't understand so I'm not even sure they were aware of what happened. Back to the restaurant. I love this restaurant - did I say that already? Parking is easy; there's a large strip mall with a 99 cent store and a planned parenthood (so eclectic) so there's never a dearth of parking. Usually I get one right up front (helpful in avoiding homicidal women asking for 10 cents). The place has bars on the windows, and it's not much of a looker from the inside either. There's a selection of tables and booths that are already equipped with paper towels (which you will need) and red and green salsa. You walk to the back to order under this sort of hut; menus are up there as well. Barbacoa Tacos SO moist - I know moist isn't a very fondly looked up on word but in this situation it's absolutely positive and necessary. The flour tortillas, you can tell, are made fresh in house. Whatever I order I usually also order a 1/2 order of guacamole and top my tacos with this and the complimentary salsa verde. Beware - the salsa isn't for the light of heart, it's incredibly spicy and will have you drinking gallons of water but it is SO worth it. The kind of spicy where the flavors really come through; it's creamy and rich and silky. If you want, you can just buy the stuff and take it home - for less than $3! At similar restaurants like Ruchi's, a comparable jar of their less stellar salsa will run you over $8. I love the christmas decorations; very cute yet minimal.
Authentic Mexican food straight from the mother land. The tacos here are delicious, the tortas are to die for and the menudo is great on a Sunday. Expect this spot to always be busy, the prices are very reasonable and the atmosphere is fantastic. Never had a bad meal here and I'm picky as my wife is Mexican!
I am so thankful to live close to their location on Gessner. This is one of my favorite restaurants in the city for both flavor and value. Their cochinita pibil sope at around $6 is one of the best b…
Great no frills taco joint for fairly cheap prices (under $3/taco). I also love their green sauce that has a kick to it but isn't too spicy.
Wow! This place is fantastic. The staff is so friendly and even gave me 2 meats to try. Shredded beef and steamed beef. I got street tacos with shredded beef and they were amazing! I'm just a gring…
Great AUTHENTIC Mexican food. This is where I get my Mexican street taco fix. Restaurant is a little dated, but quick and professional staff.
I always say YES!! to tacos la bala \nRicos tacos !! Good service! \nNever had been disappointed! I recommend it!!
I love shrimp tacos with sauce and customer service is good too. The only problem is sometimes hard to tell describe if the receptionist doesn't know the English . Overall it is awesome
great food. it tastes home made. staff are all incredib friendly even though I dont speak nor understand Spanish I felt so comfortable and welcome. all their Mexican drinks are delicious just like …
Stopped by yesterday after work. Burrito and tacos were good. One thing I liked the most was the salsa verde. It was full of flavor. Most places lack on spice.
The tacos were fine, and pretty cheap. The bacon and egg tacos were greasy. Less than $11 for all 4 tacos. I waited 16 minutes for 4 breakfast tacos. I’m not sure why they took so long, because the service was very quick for everyone else. Also, I noticed the salsa had a lot of oil in it.
Today I decided to stop at taco La Bala The beans were OK. They did offer prompt service They were a little runny for me. The rice was missing a little bit of personality and flavor. The Barbacoa tacos were OK. I liked them. The meat was tender and it was flavorful and the place was packed so I guess people do like them. I do also know that they have four different locations.
Good new hidden gem. Tried the tacos Trompo (pork) and beef fajita. Had a chicken burrito and friends had shrimp tacos. Maybe I am getting old, but the 3 salsas available were darn spicy and I found myself wishing for a red salsa I could tolerate to put on the tacos. Tasty and affordable. Give it a shot.

Great tacos for a great prize! I'm happy. They finally opened one off Kirby. They also have very good quesadillas as well.
Made to order so plan on a bit of a wait. Lots of seating. Tacos 2.50$ Shared parking.

This place may not look like much but the food is on point. The red and green sauce is very flavorful but will burn your mouth if you're not used to it. You've been warned. Staff is pretty nice. Th…
Taqueria La Bala is a hidden gem on Belair Boulevard that serves mouthwatering Mexican cuisine. The atmosphere is Mexican, staff not so friendly , and authentic flavors make it a must-visit spot. The tacos are a standout, with flavorful fillings and freshly made tortillas. The salsa adds an extra kick to the meal. The service is attentive, and the prices are reasonable. For an authentic Mexican dining experience, Taqueria La Bala is the place to go! If you’re in the southwest
Interesting place for tacos. It's not in the best area of town and there were a few homeless people standing around the entrance of the building, but I guess these are the types of places where goo…

the fajita tacos are good the service is okay , the food was kind of pricey about 14$ for 5 tacos and a coke can would rather go to a taco truck instead.
Feel they're becoming more corporate style, the trampo is not as good as it use to be. One of the orders was a small quesadilla with trompo and I couldn't see the chesse. Went to tell them and said it's in there and we measure it. I easy opened the tortilla and asked where? Be better please.
