Thien An Sandwiches Houston Reviews
This place was a perfect for lunch. They have good parking, atmosphere, and delicious food. We had tofu spring rolls, wonton, French coffee with condensed milk, and sesame balls. The sesame balls are only available on certain days. We went on a Thursday and they had them at the counter where you pay. So good you won’t be disappointed!
Came here in the morning for a quick bite before my errands. I got the banh mi dac biet. The sandwich was crispy in breading and fold and nice in the meat filling with the paté bam and pickled veggies. The jalapenos were fresh with a nice kick. It was decently sized and priced. The staff was very friendly and quick with the service. This is a very big restaurant so there is plenty of seating and parking in general. Very convenient in midtown near the metro for access.
I come here entirely too often and it’s always amazing. The folks here are incredibly kind and the food is wonderful. It’s my favorite bánh mì in Houston (I get it with tofu and add a fried egg)! Since I’m here all the time, they see me and have my order ready basically as soon as I sit down (lol). Do yourself a favor and stop by!
I came in to pick up togo. Restaurant was easy to find, plenty of parking, roomy, comfortable and service was great. I ordered 5 bánh mì , shrimp and pork spring rolls (goi cuốn), a Cà phê sữa đá (Vietnamese coffee) chè ba màu and chè sâm bổ lượng. I prefer non-fusion việt restaurants and this place was on point. My only disappointment was the amount of protein that was in the sandwiches, but I’ll definitely be back.
Thien A Sandwiches is reigning supreme in terms of Vietnamese in Midtown. I enjoyed everything we had. Bahn xeo- is huge. Was super filling with all the vegetables. Savory and crispy. Bahn mi bo kho- rich, thick beefy soup with chunks of root vegetables and tender meat. So cozy and well spiced Pho baby with meat- wanted a smaller pho so I could eat more food! The broth was so good and it was the perfect amount so I could eat other things! It’s a humble establishment that punches above its weight! Bahn cuon thit cha- wow so good. Highly recommend. Light, nice rice noodle with a soft texture.
This is legit Vietnamese food. The space is huge. Service was actually great for an Asian restaurant. The banh xeo is ginormous. The banh cuon, pho and bun bo hue were all very flavorful. We didn’t have a bad dish at all. All the portions are so large. We had a lot of leftover. The prices are very reasonable too. The food came out SO quickly. Plenty of parking available. I came back a week later and will be back again. My only complaint are the napkins. They are the worst napkins any restaurant can have. They’re so thin and small it takes about 5 napkins for 1 wipe.
An authentic Vietnamese restaurant with a classic feel and delicious food. The banh xeo is fantastic as expected, and the bun thịt nướng is delicious (though the meat amount was less than I hoped for). The prices are fair and they have a good range of choices of dishes. The bánh xèo is definitely the dish to try here! Haven’t tried the banh mi yet but will plan to!
10-10-25: Upon entering the restaurant around 4:30PM, I was immediately greeted upon reaching the 'wait to be seated' area and asked "dine-in or to-go". After informing the attendant to-go I was ushered towards the cashier where I viewed the menu and placed the order for a tofu Banh Mi sandwich with pate. Just prior to ordering the drink the attendant indicated that they did NOT have any smoothies available. So much for the Tropical Smoothie (mango, pineapple, and passionfruit) I wanted to try, so I requested a green tea drink with lychee flavor and boba. I asked the attendant if they have to-go menus. Unfortunately they do not but I was permitted to take pictures while moving carefully around staff as they mopped the floor around the ordering and payment areas. The tofu in the banh mi was quite good; better than Oui Banh Mi on Richmond. The bread had nice texture and the veggies were fresh. The pate was just OK - in my opinion better pate can be found at Parisian Bakery located in the same strip center location as Viet Hoa on BW 8 and Bissonnet (Parisian bakery is to the right of Viet Hoa). I'm glad that boba was in the green tea with lychee flavor beverage because it was unsweetened - at least it tasted OK and it's probably healthier without the added sugar 😅. Very good experience at Thien An. This is not a show stopper restaurant but they deliver good quality food at competitive prices. Probably not the most authentic Vietnamese experience in Houston but a solid choice if you are in the area. The peanut sauce with the shrimp rolls lacked Vietnamese authentic taste. The Banh Mi was OK but we had better elsewhere. The real standout that we recommend that you order is the Banh Xeo : portion is huge and the ingredients were very authentic and tasted terrific with the proper side greens and sauce. We would go back in a heartbeat for this dish. Service was friendly, fast and efficient, five stars there. Inside decoration and atmosphere is warm as a shopping mall. While we do appreciate that tables are far in between, the overall impression is of efficiency first and foremost. Easy to pay at the counter when you are ready, efficient. Overall recommended place for a quick lunch. P.S.: please leave a 👍 if this review was somewhat useful and thank you for that 🙏
The pho broth is very light, not heavy or very sweet. It has just the right touch of season. The egg roll have a different wrap compare to other restaurant I have been too. Not too crispy. The Fried rice is on point. Not dark but very light. Not sticky and it is the small rice. The lighting is kind of dim. But overall good price for the food
Honestly dont get the hype. Maybe its what i ordered. Got the bun bo hue which was pretty solid, but nothing crazy. Also got a grilled pork banh mi with pate. There was maybe a small teaspoon of pate on my banh mi, the pork had zero flavor, not even any salt and it was drier than the Sahara. Bread was great but that was about it. I expected a better banh mi from a place with “sandwiches” in the name?? Im 0/3 now on Viet food in Houston. Someone help me out haha
I have ordered from this place alot of time. I got my order today and it was absolutely horrible. The seafood smells so bad, my rice is soaked and so are the vegetables. The boba tea is complete watered down. What makes this even worse is that I was looking forward to eating my food after being up since 5am. When I called the restaurant the only told me sorry next time come in. It is extremely insensitive not everyone can go out and get there meals. Extremely disappointed ☹️ . This was my favorite place to get food .
