Amazing and such a great place to stop after the cliff walk. And get the crab claws. They were amazing!

We had a great experience at this seafood restaurant. The food was fresh, delicious, and perfectly cooked. The atmosphere was pleasant and relaxing, and the staff were very friendly and attentive. The service was quick and professional. I highly recommend this place to anyone who loves good seafood, and we will definitely come back again.

Absolutely one of the best seafood restaurants in Ireland. We did not stay at the hotel, just came for the food. Reservations are a must and arrive early if you can. We had the steamed lobster and crab claws. The meringue dessert is unique and delicious, as is the creme brulee. The wait staff is AWESOME!

We ended up at King Sitric’s Fish Bar almost by accident, after a long and windy hike in beautiful Howth, we were cold, tired, and just looking for a warm spot to rest. We didn’t have a reservation, but the staff welcomed us in with genuine kindness and seated us right away. The place filled up quickly after we arrived, so if you’re planning to come around 2–3 PM, I’d definitely recommend booking ahead, it gets busy fast! We ordered two bowls of English Clam Chowder and shared a lobster, and honestly, everything was absolutely delicious. The food was beautifully presented, comforting, and flavorful, especially after coming in from the cold. It hit the spot in every possible way. But what truly made this meal special was the service. The staff — young, friendly, and full of warmth — treated us with a level of care and attention that would rival any high-end restaurant. There was nothing overdone, nothing fake, just real hospitality, with a smile. I often feel that a country leaves its mark not only through its landmarks and landscapes, but through its people. And Ireland won me over completely , from the taxi driver who picked us up at the airport to these lovely folks in a small fishing village. Their kindness made us feel so welcome. In fact, we’ve been to Michelin-starred places where the service didn’t come close to what we experienced here. King Sitric’s Fish Bar is a perfect example of how simple food + genuine people = unforgettable memories. If you’re in Howth — don’t miss it.

Must go if you are in town! We stopped in for lunch. Great location, fish is fresh. Book a reservation. Outdoor seating has heaters and blankets.

Wonderful seafood. Super fresh oysters and great lobster. Service excellent. We did have to wait a few minutes for our table we had booked, but were well looked after

I wish I could give a million stars to this amazing hotel. This is truly the hidden gem in Ireland. We came in as two weary jet lagged travelers and left feeling like friends. Sue took care of us, and as a fellow cat lover, she had us feeling at home right away. Our room was beyond stunning with an unparalleled view of the sea. Our dinner was caught on those waters and I’ve never had a better meal. Honestly! The breakfast the following morning was incredible as well. We will never forget the King Sitric and hope we meet again one day.

We visited King Sitric for the first time, and it turned out to be a lovely experience. It’s a small, cosy place located in one of the best spots in Dublin — Howth — offering great views and a charming atmosphere. I went with a few friends, and here’s what we tried: 1. Oysters – Absolutely fresh and delicious! We loved them so much that we ended up ordering 24 pieces. 2. Lobster in Garlic Sauce – The flavours were excellent and the lobster was perfectly cooked. However, the portion size felt a bit small for the price (€€€€). 3. Prawns – Nicely cooked and served in a good portion. The cooking style is slightly different from other places, so it might not be to everyone’s taste, but we enjoyed it. Overall, King Sitric offers great seafood in a beautiful setting — perfect for a relaxed meal in Howth.

October 2025 My wife and I traveled from Ohio for our anniversary. This was a must visit all thanks to Anthony Bourdain’s episode featuring this restaurant. We didn’t realize you could stay here (based on the show.) Well, we did! Our room was “Oyster Bay” and it has one of the prettiest views either of us had ever experienced. If you choose to book a room, breakfast is included and it’s delicious! Everything here goes far and beyond any expectation(s) one might have. We were fortunate enough to eat and drink while Jack was working. His kindness throughout our visit was lovely. He is a master of music playlists! We devoured so much of the menu. Dublin Bay Prawns, Mussels, Lobster Thermidor, and even more. The bread and butter itself is incredible and that says a lot! Everything was crafted with such care. The limited Black Sole entree was being featured that evening. Of course we ordered it- and it was heavenly! We had a variety of cocktails and some of the best Irish whiskey! Everything was excellent! The staff for the hotel portion and the restaurant are all amazing people! This is a must, MUST trip to make. Once you’re here, please ask for Jack and tell him Mark and Gail from Ohio say hello and they’d rather be listening to Steely Dan (there not in Ohio) ;)

amazing!!!!!! cant rate them highly enough if im honest. the service is fantastic, and the quality of the food is amazing. the salad was so crispy and fresh, lobster was perfectly cooked and so flavourful, and the crab claws were out of this world. shoutout to one of the lovely waiters who took the time explaining the wine selection so patiently to my brother. definitely recommend 11/10!!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Cozy place in the front-row of the ocean. The food was the highlight! top-quality fresh seafood, absolutely outstanding! Fish-Burger, Fish&Chips and the Lobster-Roll were amazing

Loved our stay at the King Sitric, location was perfect right at the end of the busier/visited areas so it was quite quiet, great nights sleep with comfy beds, beautiful view outside. Easy check-in, they arranged a taxi to the airport for us which was very helpful as foreigners. Right out the door you can walk down the piers/harbor, right close to shops/restaurants, to the east you've got the cliff paths which were just stunning around Howth. The oysters were some of the best I've ever had, food was really outstanding. Great breakfast. Really enjoyed our stay.

We went here after a boat tour and wow! The John Dory and the crab were fantastic! Everything was so fresh and our food came very quickly. The waitress was super friendly and when the temperature dropped (we were sitting outside) she offered us blankets. The dessert here was good as well.

Beautiful little boutique hotel with a great restaurant. The included breakfast was outstanding, and dinners were wonderful as well. Great seafood!!

D

Both the food and service were excellent. The fish was so fresh it must have jumped straight from the ocean into the frying pan. The batter on the fish was light and crispy. The monkfish was served with a leek and cream sauce with a light drizzle of olive oil that was savory without overpowering the fish. Every server was attentive and friendly. I could eat here every day.

SOOOO great! Well cooked. We ordered almost one of everything on the menu. Suggest oysters, mussels, lobster with chips, claws, prawns, and skip the bisque. The chips were the best chips I’ve had in Europe. This was such a treat and a memory we will have forever. It was chilly out there so ask for a blanket if you get an outdoor seat in cold seasons. Worth the drive from Dublin!

Came in here for lunch on a wet and blustery day with my 6 year old son. The staff were so friendly and helpful, they are a real asset at a time when customer service often isn't a priority. The menu was a wonderful collection of seafood and some non seafood items. The children's menu is also healthy and diverse. My son had the scampi which he loved and i inhaled the chowder. Prices were very reasonable for such high quality food and wonderful service

We came here because Anthony Bourdain ate here. And the place didn't disappoint! Husband had the prawns and I had the oysters (from Galway bay) Both were delicious! And the service was great. Definitely would recommend to get reservations because the place is not very big. We had to eat in the front patio since it was the only table available when we made the reservations. We didn't stay at their rooms though.

Spent one night here. Room was beautiful and clean. I was lucky enough to get early access after my red eye flight thanks to the room being empty the night before...thank you! Beautiful ocean view. Would definitely stay again!

What a super experience today for lunch . The food was amazing , the location is fabulous and the service was excellent . We had the best chowder I have had in years ! Full of chunky fish pieces. Their homemade brown bread is fantastic and tastes like More !! Amazing smokies and Monkfish , washed down with a glass of their fabulous house white wine 👏👏👏

We were recommended this spot by our great hike guide (Howth Adventures). It was one of our favorite meals we had in Ireland. Highly recommend the prawns! I’ll be dreaming about them for a while.

Did not have a room, but if they are anything like the food and service, they will be nice. Personal attention, excellent quality to the fresh seafood, and served with tastes and skill. You will not regret neither the oysters or lobster, or the class. The smoked fish is also excellent!

Amazing location, property, and staff. Only minutes away from the Howth Cliff Walk. The entire team was lovely, but Jim and Garrett both went above and beyond to make our stay a good one. Wouldn’t hesitate to book again.

We had lunch at King Sitric during our day in Howth, and it was a really nice experience. It was a great place to stop and refuel after our Howth Adventures walking tour. The restaurant has a bright, welcoming atmosphere looking out over the harbor, which made for a lovely setting after our walking tour. Service was friendly and efficient, and the food was fresh and well presented. Even though the restaurant is best known for its seafood, there were good non-seafood options available, and what we ordered was satisfying and flavorful. Drinks were well made, and the overall pace of the meal was relaxed, which gave us time to enjoy the setting and chat with others from our group.

Absolutely amazing food and such a lovely atmosphere. Staff were amazing and so welcoming. Dog friendly too which is a bonus. Will definitely be back with the whole family.

We came here for the restaurant and left positively in awe of the service and menu selection. We ordered the seafood chowder, crab toast, fish and chips, prawns in garlic butter, and fish sandwich with roasted potatoes. Everything tasted amazing and our server was the best! Will be back when I come to Howth!

Superb location: close to wild places plus easy access to Dublin city. Clean and cozy rooms. Excellent seafood. Helpful and friendly stuff. Unforgettable breakfasts.

Cozy place! Great service! But the food was the real highlight! The sauces, the top-quality fresh seafood, absolutely outstanding! One of the best shrimp dishes I’ve ever had! The oysters were divine and fresh, chilled, and served with a perfect vinaigrette! The gluten-free bread was delicious! Words fall short to express just how incredible the food was! A special thank-you to Chef *Leonardo* who masterfully leads the kitchen and ensures excellence in every dish and the overall experience!

Had a fabulous lunch. Mussels, Crab and Dublin bay prawns. Excellent produce and beautifully cooked. A very good Pay D'Oc sauvignon at a reasonable price, capped a great experience. Complementary sparkling water and great service. A true gem for seafood.

This is one of the best fine dining experiences you will find in the Dublin area. Pick anything from the menu - you will not be disappointed. The "let us do everything for you" lobster was so good that I don't think I can ever order lobster anywhere else. Maine lobster has nothing on this Irish delicacy. The prawns, mussels and oysters were incredible starters. The servers were all SO hospitable, but Jack was the absolute best. He recommended the black sole which was out of this world (check out the before and after below!). We also stayed at King Sitric. The rooms were comfortable, cozy and absolutely adorable! Plus, the views are incredible. Definitely come to Howth and stay and eat at King Sitric!!

we went to the seafood bar to eat and it was GREAT! the outdoor tables were heated and we had blankets to keep warm. the food was amazing! the oysters, lobster, fish and chips (special mention for the delicious sweet potato chips) and the meringue desert?? incredible. the service was very good as well, everyone was very nice. however i do recommend calling to book a table as they are very busy.

We ate at King Sitric today for lunch. We were served by a lovely young man named Ben, he was polite, professional and had a fantastic attitude, he is perfect for hospitality. The food was wonderful. We had tempura prawns, they were delicious, the chicken wings were very nice and the nicest chips. Fabulous little spot with beautiful views. Very busy I would advise you book!

King Sitric had lovely seafood! I tried the shrimps and the calamari - both so soft and very tasty. The service was great. My friends really enjoyed their meals as well. I also liked the oat flat white - made barista style, really impressed me :) will definitely come again. Highly recommend trying it out and also making a reservation.

This seafood restaurant is a true delight! Nestled in a picturesque harbour, it offers not only stunning views but also an exceptional dining experience. The staff are wonderfully attentive and friendly, making you feel right at home. The food is simply outstanding, with fresh, flavorful seafood dishes that are perfectly complemented by their delicious wine selection. Plus, it's dog-friendly, so your furry friends are welcome too! Highly recommend for a memorable meal by Howth Harbour. 🐾🍷🍽️

My wife and I came here for lunch from a local recommendation. The seafood was delicious, and the service was amazing. Everyone was beyond welcoming and all around great vibes. I had the tempura prawns and chowder and my wife had the crab roll and goat cheese salad.

Lunch was fantastic and the staff were very kind. It was a great meal in a convenient location. The local lobster in garlic butter was the best part, but the chips and oysters were delicious as well. I would absolutely eat here again.

Delicious fresh local seafood. Had the crab claws and lobster. My partner had the vegan option which was also good (though might be nice to have a vegan starter as well!)

Place, food and service is lovely but staying outside is not the best option. Too cold! Seafood chowder is delicious!

Absolutely wonderful experience! From the moment we walked in we were greeted by the lovely friendly Francesca who really went out her way for us. She was knowledgeable, chatty, and made us feel totally at ease. Both ladies who we dealt with were lovely, just didn't get the other ladies name, Irish hospitality at it's finest. As for the food, it was so tasty and flavourful and better than other spots in the area. We had crab claws and mussels with brown bread, and couldn't get enough! We shall return, thank you 😊

Had the most friendly and helpful reception, ordered a taxi for my airport journey next morning, the room was spotless and absolutely lovely with view across the harbour and bay, breakfast is amazing, I will definitely stay again and highlight recommend it.

We had such a lovely experience thanks to Davey at King Citric Retreat in Howth. My sister and I arrived late in the evening around 9pm with no reservation, and Davey couldn’t have been kinder or more accommodating. Despite the time, he welcomed us warmly and even let us sit and enjoy a cup of tea and coffee. It was such a thoughtful gesture, and his genuine hospitality really made our evening. A hidden gem with top-notch service – thank you, Davey!

M

What an absolute treat! King Sitric is so cute and the staff are fantastic. The rooms are spacious, the beds are comfortable and the bathrooms are large enough to get ready in and not feel cramped. The view: beautiful!! The staff are amazing. Overwhelmingly accommodating. Especially Laura and Louis, who checked us in, served dinner, and even offered to help with our luggage after their shift was closed. 11/10 so kind and genuine.

Able to check in early after an Extremely early morning departure from the UK, Staff were very friendly and welcoming, rooms were excellent, ground floor metre's from the harbour, with Stunning views and surprisingly quiet apart from the restful sounds of Crashing Waves. The restaurant was excellent, food was tasty and all sources were listed, pleasing to the eye and even moreso when consumed. Choices on all menus was brilliant, catering for all and No request was too much, The Staff could have taught some of the Staff we encountered in our other accommodation choices many lessons, Our beloved Daughter was on her Honeymoon which we were invited to join, so we wanted everything to be memorable and it certainly was here. Thanks to everyone involved.

King Sitric was the most wonderful stay on our families visit to Ireland! We were greeted with the warmest welcome on our first morning and settled into our rooms and then started off the day with a scrumptious breakfast. The room was exquisite, one of the best views of the seaside in Howth. The staff were truly some of the kindest and most welcoming you could expect. They treated us like family and we will surely be back for many future visits.

M

We each ordered the lobster roll and I tried one of the oysters. I made a reservation in advance to have lunch here. I recommend making a reservation before visiting because we came on a Monday at 1:45pm and the restaurant quickly filled up. One of the things we were confused about was being charged €3 (€1 per person) to order tap water for the table.

K
Ktoms

Had lunch here while visiting Howth. The goat cheese salad was amazing and also had the seafood chowder. The chowder has a lot of potato and very little fish, which was quite disappointing considering it’s a seafood restaurant. Service was fantastic!

Good food but overpriced. $80 for 2 fish and chips and a pint is a little wild

I rarely leave reviews, but I feel compelled to share our experience. I booked this hotel as a special memory for me and my mam, who has terminal cancer. All we wanted was one peaceful, relaxing night away by the sea—to make memories and lift her spirits. Sadly, the experience was the opposite of what we hoped for. From the minute we arrived until around 8 PM that night, there was a busker right outside the hotel playing the same 5 or 6 sad, depressing songs on repeat. The singing was loud and frankly not very good but it deeply affected our stay. We couldn’t sit outside and enjoy the sea view or even open the window in our room on a very hot summer day. Instead of a calming, joyful evening, we were stuck indoors in a stuffy room, with the windows shut, trying to escape the noise. It made my mam even sadder, when the whole purpose of this trip was to cheer her up and give her a peaceful experience by the sea. All our plans for the day and evening were ruined. For a hotel that markets itself as a place for relaxation and sea views, I would’ve expected them to manage the environment around their property better—especially for the prices charged. 260€ I payed for one night. I took many video on my phone of how loud the busking was all day and also how bad the singing was. This was supposed to be a meaningful trip, and unfortunately, it’s now a memory clouded by disappointment.

Restaurant review only. We had eaten there a few times before years ago and the food was really good. Today's lunch wasn't. The service was great and the waitress was really lovely, the wine lovely. The oysters were good and so were the fries. But the seafood, which is what the restaurant is famous for, was really disappointing. The lobster roll had pieces which had the texture of jelly. The shrimps were tasteless, absolutely bland. The crab salad was just fine but the bread was really bland too. The creme brûlée came with vanilla ice cream which makes it far too rich (the biscuit was lovely, though). There is better seafood to be had in other places around Howth, tbh

I have been looking forward to eventually being able to visit this restaurant, because of it's reputation. I am now sorry we walked in the door as Dublin people, and not tourists who seem to adore the restaurant. We booked through Open table and we had no problems there, got to the restaurants and were seated beside the door which was open the whole time . The seating is uncomfortable and the decor is awful. If only they could invest some of the money back into the restaurant. I had the impression of the decor being opulent, but sadly that bubble was massively burst today. We tried very hard to pick something from a very limited and expensive menu. The specials were nothing to get excited about either. Eventually I settled for a seafood chowder, which stated on the menu that it contained smoked Ling and other fish. Neither of which appeared in my bowl of warm cream that arrived with 2 cubes of carrots and about 3 cubes of potato in it. My wife couldn't even finish hers, because of the amount of cream in it. It was average to say the least, and I have had better chowder in pubs which have been 100 miles away from the coast where fish are landed daily. We both then decided to have fish and chips which we were told was Hake. It was €24 for a piece of fish in breadcrumbs and tepid skin on chips which were disgusting. The fish was dry and overcooked and really didn't taste fresh, sadly. The food took an age to arrive and the restaurant was not very busy at the time. The server was friendly and efficient and knew his trade well. When we were asked about our experience with the food we gave our honest feedback, and he offered us a free drink or dessert. We declined and asked for the bill. He came down and in fairness he took the main courses off our bill. Which took the sting out of what could have been a very expensive bad experience.

Whilst the food is amazing in this establishment unfortunately we had a rather negative experience in the King Sitric restaurant this afternoon. My son booked a table about 3 weeks ago as a special lunch but when we arrived we were not seated at a normal table despite this advance booking but at the side of the bar where staff were making coffee, chatting and getting drinks etc. This was a very narrow space where you had to sit sideways to fit in it. It is most definitely not a table by any description. My son asked if it would be possible to be seated at another table when one became available which one did a few moments later however we were advised that there was a prior booking for three people coming. Five minutes later two individuals were seated at this table who were discussing how they had been looking at different menus along the street and picked this restaurant - so clearly not the aforementioned reservation. My son was very disappointed at the situation and I feel that if someone has gone to the effort of making a prior booking for a specific time that a proper table not a confined space at the side of the bar should be reserved. This is a lovely restaurant with great food however this left a very bitter taste unfortunately - when booking you would be wise to specify you’d like an actual table!

H
Helen Wybrants

For the prices charged, both the service and basic table requirements were unfortunately missing e.g. meals arrived but no cutlery was provided .. until requested!! Try Eating crab claws doused in garlic butter, with the only facility provided being a single very poor quality paper napkin. We had to ask for a finger bowl and more napkins! The quality of the fish and oysters were however good. The fish of the day stated that it included garlic and butter asparagus. This was disappointingly not actually provided.

M
Mariana Osuna

Way over priced for the quality. I e got crab rolls and the bread tasted like it was warmed in a microwave vs toasted for €20- no chips or crisps on the side. Got maragritas and they tasted so mid, couldn’t tell the difference between spicy and regular and was maybe 1/2 ounce of tequila in it. Staff was friendly but it’s insane you need a reservation in advance for this place as they just robbed us of €45. The beach sheds are ok but it was a windy day and for the prices they are charging you’d think they would have a heater or at least offer a blanket. Regret not leaving the second they sat us down.

While the food at this restaurant was genuinely great, I cannot overlook the deeply troubling experience my friends and I had, an experience marked by racism and exclusion. Yesterday, I visited King Sitric in Howth with two friends (both mixed-race) and myself (brown-skinned). We were told that the restaurant was fully reserved until 9 PM. However, shortly after, we saw two white individuals being welcomed in, without any reservation. After 10 minutes of waiting, our white friend from Texas walked in alone and was immediately seated. Coincidence? I think not. The contrast in how we were treated was undeniable. When we were eventually seated, the service continued to reflect the same discriminatory attitude. A waiter dropped sauce on the table without so much as looking at us, avoided engaging with us entirely, and was noticeably friendly and attentive to every other (white) table around us. This was my first time experiencing such blatant racism, and it happened in a place I had looked forward to visiting. It's disheartening that in 2025, hospitality can still be selectively given based on the color of your skin. June 7th, 2025
