APPE Izakaya

Appe Izakaya is a brand new Japanese restaurant in Huntington Beach. It is absolutely wonderful. It is cozy, clean and the hostess was charming. The hot green tea is actually a delicious high grade of Matcha and the waitress kept my cup full and hot. I ordered 4 yakitori skewers and they were wonderful. That and a bowl of perfectly cooked white rice was very filling. I’ve eaten great Japanese food all over Japan and this was just as good. Wonderful food, service and atmosphere makes Appe a must try dining experience.

The flavors are super authentic. The vibe is very immersive for izakaya style dining and there are also large dishes like rice bowls and ramen. The service was excellent.

I had a wonderful experience at this newly opened Japanese restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious — incredibly fresh, beautifully prepared, and full of flavor. Every dish was perfectly balanced and tasted amazing. Our absolute favorite from the menu was the curry udon beef and filet mignon skewers— rich, comforting and perfectly cooked beef, and amazing depth of flavor. Truly outstanding and something we would come back for. Mochi was also very delicious. The service truly stood out. The staff were extremely friendly, helpful, and attentive, always happy to offer recommendations and check in to make sure everything was okay. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with a lovely, almost family-like vibe. The interior design is beautiful and adds to the overall experience. This place offers a fantastic dining experience from start to finish and is definitely worth recommending. We will absolutely be coming back!

Incredible food! We had the Gyoza pot stickers, spicy garlic edamame, Shoyu Ramen and Chicken Ramen. Everything was fresh, flavorful and delicious! Our server was excellent and so hospitable. We left very happy, satisfied and oh so full!

Amazing food and service. We got some yakitori to start which was delicious. The ramen was super flavourful and they were happy to customise it slightly per my preference (I requested no onions). Appe Izakaya in Downtown Huntington Beach right across the street from the Sugar Shack and next to the parking structure, is a total gem! The chicken teriyaki bowl was perfectly flavorful and satisfying, and the eel skewer and tongue skewer were absolute standouts — tender, expertly grilled, and packed with authentic izakaya flavor. Great food, great vibes, and top-notch quality all around. Can’t wait to go back! Also, try their strawberry lemonade, one of the best I’ve had anywhere!

🏮 Great atmosphere with fantastic service! The mango iced green tea was amazing. We got chicken thighs, eel, pork belly and beef medallion skewer. My girlfriend loves the eel. I thought the chicken thighs were especially good, with the skin having a deep flavor that made it very enjoyable. The steak had that great Izakaya smokey flavor. It was a good cut of meat. My girlfriend enjoyed it as well but desired some salt. Overall a great spot for a quick bite🏮

Ate here with my son, we got ramen, some garlic and asparagus skewers, their house special Appe chicken, the edamame egg rolls, and finished the evening with a fried banana and iced cream. Everything was absolutely delicious (definitely try the Appe chicken!), the service was super attentive, and the owners were lovely. Two thumbs way up, we will totally be back to this place and I strongly recommend it if you're in downtown HB and looking for great food and a family atmosphere.

Amazing food! The curry udon beef was delicious and the fried rice was perfect. All of the meat skewers were delicious. Our favorite was the chicken thighs. We’ll definitely be back!
