Thai Kitchen Irvine Reviews
Great service, amazing food, calming environment. I really appreciate the people that work here and I'm thankful for the food they served me today. Yellow curry leaves me euphoric and satisfied.
Food was great. Service was polite. A bit understaffed but I suppose they wanted to keep the prices affordable.
THE BEST shrimp and pumpkin curry! Nothing like it anywhere else. I drive from San Diego, for it.
Excellent food and service . In LA area restaurants are so stingy with the Thai Basil . Man here such great quality , taste and quantity . Tried Iced Tea, Chicken angel wings , spicy fried rice with tons of basil . Spicy catfish so delicious and loads of basil .
I’ve only gotten takeout, but the pad Thai was the best I’ve had in Orange County. Yellow curry was really tasty. Generous portions and tender chicken and pork. Definitely coming here again!
Food is consistent and amazing. The staff is super friendly. Seems to always be the same person. She is super kind and checks on us frequently. The Tom yum soup is amazing and the imperial beef is my favorite. They sometimes have cheese wontons which are amazing. Overall love this place and it’s my go to Thai place.
I love this restaurant. It's fami;y owned and the food tastes authentic and delicious. I wish they had updated the interior of the restaurant, as it it quite dated. Nevertheless, the food is worth a try and I highly recommend trying this place.
Very warm and friendly but busy welcome, even when I was just alone for dinner. A lot of folks waiting and they had to deal with the self pickup and delivery as well. Yes, on weekends understaffed, anyway worth waiting to get perfect prepared and authentic Thaifood served with several spicy 🌶 and flavorful dips. I liked it a lot and will be back, they are really trying their best, bring some time and understanding 😉
Our favorite is the BEST Thai chicken noodle soup #3, which is only served during lunchtime. Excellent family/owners that treat you like a member of their family and are always delighted to see you. Vegetarian options are available in Thai cuisine, and lunch and evening meals have all been excellent. I hope you check out Thai Kitchen if you're thinking about eating Thai food.
Very cozy place to eat hearty delicious Thai cuisine. Service is great and attentive. A little slow as there are only 2 staff for waiting, seating, and serving tables, but totally worth the little wait. Will be in my regular eating out rotation.
Ordered angel wings, pineapple fried rice, and kai kua. The angel wings were deboned chicken wings stuffed with ground chicken and clear noodles. This was a delicious take on chicken, moist, flavorful chicken and spices inside and the sweet sauce complements it well. The pineapple fried rice was also a really nice dish that wasn’t too sweet, well mixed and made of shrimp, chicken, pineapples, cashew nuts, tomato, raisins, onions, green onion, and a touch of curry powder. The Kai Kua is stir fried flat rice noodles, chicken, squid, egg, bean sprouts, and green onion. This noodle dish is fairly light, well balanced with decent sized eggs, chicken, and squid mixed together. It’s not too fishy and it goes well with a nice crunch from the green onions. Service was quick, courteous, and simple. Ambiance feels very 90s based on how old it seems the restaurant looks inside. Lots of the color choices seem like they haven’t updated over time and that’s fine, especially if you’re here for comfort food and the food quality is great!
If you’re in the mood for authentic Thai flavors in Irvine, Thai Kitchen is a must-visit. The ambiance is cozy, and the service is friendly and attentive. We tried the Tom Yum Soup, which was perfectly tangy and packed with rich, aromatic flavors. The Basil Fried Rice was a highlight—fluffy, fragrant, and full of savory goodness, with just the right amount of heat. Good options for vegetarians. For dessert, the Mango Sticky Rice was a sweet, refreshing finish to the meal, with perfectly ripe mango and creamy coconut milk. The portions are generous, and the overall experience was both satisfying and delicious. Highly recommend this spot for a flavorful Thai dining experience!
We had dinner at Thai kitchen. From the outside, it looks like an unassuming spot and you might even miss it, but once you’re inside, you will love it. The ambience inside is very simple and it feels like it’s a neighborhood place. The menu has a variety of Thai food dishes. Portions are generous and it’s a superb value for money. We ordered the same amount of food we usually do at other restaurants but we took a lot of food home. Note - they don’t serve alcohol Great place overall!
Look, this restaurant is great and had amazing food with great spices! The other reviews complain about wait time but the owner is an old senior lady running the whole restaurant so cut some slack for the restaurant. There is a wait time but that’s only because people order more and more food because of how good it tastes! It truly is an mini Thailand in the heart of Irvine! Amazing food and EXTREMELY NICE OWNER!! She was so nice and Happy and made all my meals WITH NO ONION OR GARLIC AND NO FISH SAUCE or anything non vegetarian sauces! I’m definitely coming back and eating their delicious food! But make sure to book ahead of time if you want to be seated right away if not then you might have to wait 20-30 minutes for a table on a Friday night when I visited! I came in for dine in ordered a Tom yum soup and pad woon sen noodles. Really enjoyed both the dishes and ordered more for to go. The wait staff is quite polite, there were only 2 people upfront was quite busy with online orders but servers were paying attention to the guests. Only negative is that you have to wait a while for food to arrive, but since the food is delicious waiting wasn't a problem. I would like to visit again. Side note: There were puters from Thailand as decoration, they looked nice.
We love supporting our local restaurants and have been going to Thai Kitchen for over 10 years. Situated in a strip mall off the beaten path is where you will find this gem. Our favorite is the Thai chicken noodle soup #3 which is only available during lunch hours and it's the BEST! Great family/owners who welcome you like you are part of their family - always happy to see you. Thai kitchen has vegetarian options as well and everything we have eaten, be it lunch or dinner is always flavorful. If you are considering Thai food, I hope you check out Thai Kitchen.
This special secret menu Hainan Chicken is only available once or twice per year. Unfortunately today is the only day they have it. Love it. 5 stars
We picked up take out for lunch, Ruby Chicken and Wonton Soup. The Ruby Chicken was delicious! The soup was pretty good too, but the chicken dish was something you'd crave good. Unfortunately we don't live in the area, otherwise we'd come back to eat this often and try other dishes as the restaurant was still busy after lunch service time probably for a reason. My husband is gluten free and the woman pointed out the couple dishes he could eat, including the Ruby Chicken & Won ton soup.

This is our go to local Thai spot. Owner always greets with smile. Yummy food with awesome service!
I really don't know why they only have a 3.5 stars... The food was excellent, the service was perfect. I am definitely making Thai Kitchen a regular restaurant to go to. I noticed that most of the people at lunch today were regulars.
I have ordered wonton soup a few times from here and it is hot and delicious everytime. I see the same sweet lady in there and she remembered me when I came back this last time.
I’ve previously ordered take out from Thai Kitchen and enjoyed the generous portions and great options. I dined in-person and the service was great — very friendly and proactive with making sure I had everything I needed. Bamboo Royale and Pad Kee Mow are my favorite dishes. Highly recommend!
Love this place. You truly feel like you are eating someone’s home cooked meal. I will never stop going here. Been in Irvine since 2008.
This is the kind of place you come to feel at home and enjoy comforting, delicious meals. The waitress is always so kind and welcoming and always gets our orders right. We come here when we need a little extra pick up. We especially love the pad see eww, green curry, prik king and lemongrass chicken. Their rice is also so so good. Haven't had anything we didn't like so far!
I went here with a friend for the first time on a Wednesday for dinner. They open at 4 pm. It was somewhat quiet with maybe 5 tables being served. Which was great for friends catching up. I had Pad Thai and my friend had a duck dish with a delicious Asian eggplant. Prices are reasonable and in line with most Thai restaurants.
This place is an absolute gem. The food is super authentic and packed with flavor, you can really taste the care and tradition in every dish. The staff are incredibly kind, welcoming, and genuinely hospitable, which makes the whole experience even better. It honestly feels so homey and wholesome, like being welcomed into someone’s kitchen rather than just eating out. Can’t recommend this spot enough.
Food was great. Service was polite. A bit understaffed but I suppose they wanted to keep the prices affordable.

Pretty average Thai food. My friends who rarely eat Thai food were all very impressed while those of us who have had good authentic Thai food were underwhelmed. 3 stars in the food, but 4 stars overall. The portion sizes were generous (especially the pad thai), prices were reasonable, the staff was very friendly, and there was a nice quiet atmosphere. Would recommend if you're looking for affordable thai food that is decent in quality and has generous portions. Note* I am by no means someone who can handle authentic Thai/Vietnamese/Indian food level of extreme spiciness without breaking a sweat after a few min. But I do enjoy spicy food from time to time. My friend I both asked for medium spicy for our dishes (Ruby Siam and Yellow curry) and found them very mild with little to no spice. So you may want to ask for a higher level of spiciness than you normally would at other restaurants. Spice levels include: not spicy, mild, medium, spicy, and extra spicy.
Visited this local Thai restaurant in Stone Creek Plaza and found ample parking space available. The ambiance and seating capacity were impressive, and the owner, a friendly lady, greeted everyone with a warm smile. My friends and I decided to sample a variety of dishes, including Red curry with chicken, chicken mint basil, beef curry, and pad Thai. The Red curry was a standout, packed with flavor, and I opted for a spicy level that suited my palate perfectly. The chicken mint basil dish was also delightful, with the combination of mint and basil adding a unique twist. While the beef curry leaned slightly towards the sweeter side, it was still enjoyable. The pad Thai had great flavor, but the peanut sauce was a bit overpowering, making it a tad sweeter than preferred. One thing to note is that the portion of rice served with the curry dishes was on the smaller side compared to the generous servings of curry, so you might need to order extra rice to fully enjoy the curry. Overall, it's a decent restaurant with a small staff, so expect some delays during busy times. However, if you're in the neighborhood and craving Thai cuisine, this place won't disappoint.
Great Thai restaurant, everything taste pretty authentic. We visited this place once a while, and ordered various dishes to try everything. Curry can be spicy and need to order some extra rice which is also extra. Everything comes in good size. There was only one or two ladies working there so they got really busy sometimes.

It was the first time I had been to this place...a friend recommended we meet there. Nice little place and friendly people. I got the yellow curry. The portion size was moderate and it was $15+...but it did not come with rice...which was $1.50 extra I think. I was a bit surprised by this...I mean...I know we do have inflation currently...which has made everything more expensive...but the amount of food I got for $18 was not worth it. The food itself was fine...but not worth the price in my opinion. I gave 3 stars mainly for the atmosphere and the friendly staff. This will probably be my only visit.
If you fancied sweet flavors in your food, this is the restaurant to come. I fully realized there are other flavors in their dishes, but again, sweet flavor isn’t the thing go well for me. Waitresses are polite, kind and good manner. Moderate portion of each and every dish. Place is busy considering a Thursday lunch hour.
Friday evening, not busy, good thing. Service was only 1 staff. Poor woman was way over worked. Had Spring rolls, just okay. Tom ka Kai soup. Excellent! Crying tiger, bad. Very tuff meat with a bitter way, way too spicy sauce on the side. I do not recommend this dish. Baby corn and mushrooms was just okay. Ordered a side of rice, never received and no way to ask. Service being almost none existent. Too bad very nice lady. Sorry but this place has room for a lot of improvement and flavor.

Completely mixed up our Grubhub order. Gave us items we didn’t order and didn’t deliver items we did order. Not planning to order from here again.
Ambiance: old , dark and depressing 🤷♂️ Service: one lady at the front doing , host , taking order , bring food and pretty much everything 🤷♂️🤦so I had to wait so long Food: most ridiculous wonton cheese! (Picture attached) basically fried bread with nothing in it!!! Hot and sour , it was some kind of soup but was anything close hot and sour that I have been experiencing for last 30 years !

Horrible food. Nothing tastes right. The worst Pad Thai I've ever had. It tasted like trash, which is where it ended up. The fried wontons have a tiny piece of chicken in them and nothing else. Yellow curry is missing pineapple and also tastes bland. Terrible experience and total waste of $30. I won't ever eat here again. Stay away!
We gave this restaurant three tries, and they struck out every time. And recently we just learned they were closed for the week due to health code violations not meeting California standards. Now we understand why we did not feel good after we ate their food and a few of us became sick!! If you want authentic good Thai food, this is not the place. Service was poor and our Orders were 50% of the time made incorrectly. Customer service was lacking and wait times were always long. This is a shame that in the city of Irvine, we have a restaurant with this poor quality.
This is a very bad restaurant. You order and it takes exactly 1 hour and 25 minutes to prepare. They do not prepare the food in less than 1 hour. This is absolutely very annoying. The employees are very slow. If you are reading this comment, I recommend you not to go. I have never seen such a bad restaurant in my life.
I just got a take out order of yellow curry with chicken. Zero salt, bland, and honestly I’m getting a strong fish aftertaste… never had yellow curry like this and I’ve had at least 5 places around OC. For $40 for a little curry and some appetizer, I feel completely ripped off. Also when I asked for the total at the end of my phone order, they just hung up. I’m telling you, there’s WAY better Thai food out there. Save your money and time.
The quality of food has consistently gone downwards while price has continued to go up. Lots of MSG and in recent visits we always ended up feeling extremely thirsty afterwards. In the last visit, we ordered 3 vegetarian dishes with tofu as protein. All came with only 3 pieces of small tofu cubes. The plates were just filled with mostly noodles and half cooked vegetables. Spoke to one of the waitresses right after the last dish was delivered to our table and proved to her that there was barely any tofu in the dish. She called the other older waitress over and both apologized about it. I do want to mention that they said there should be 5 pieces of tofu. FIVE! How pathetic. When the bill came, there was no discount and deduction at all. Totally felt like being ripped off and robbed by this restaurant. There was a very annoying buzzing sound in the restaurant as well. It was Monday night and, we were the only customers in the whole restaurant from 6 to 7 pm. Feels like they are losing business and now cutting corners to save costs. But they should know customers are not dumb. They will only lose even more customer by cheating on their ingredients. For us, definitely not again!
If I could give it less than 1 star I would. Ordered pad Thai tofu and it was butchered and horrendous. They had to remake it and ⅓ less than the original amount and charge $15 for it. Food took almost an hour to come out and my food came out last and everyone else at the table was completely done eating so obviously I don’t want it anymore and they wouldn’t remove it from the bill. Didn’t even eat the food that is brought out after everyone is ready to pay and leave. Would not recommend if as basic request for food couldn’t even be accommodated.
Order #220229954 I ordered three take out dishes that totaled to $61.58. I haven’t even tried the food yet, but I will never go back there again. I asked the manager or owner for six chili sauces after realizing how small they were. She pretty much gave me a dirty look and said you only get one chili sauce per dish. You lost a customer over chili sauces.
Server and food are very nice but our order of 4 items took OVER 1 HOUR to come out. We placed our order on Sunday at 12:50 pm, when there were around 6 tables. Tom yum kai came out at 1:40 pm; fried rice and beef panang came out at 2pm. Pad Kee mao came out at 2:15 pm so we ended up waiting 1 hr 25 minutes. There was only 1 server for ~15 tables so I assume the kitchen was also understaffed. They need to hire more people for lunch time because we had plans for after lunch but had to cancel because of the delay. While we were waiting for our food, the lone server was also packing take out orders, which makes no sense. Dine in customers should be prioritized over mobile orders. They should tell mobile orders that it will take a long time and make dine in orders in the meanwhile. Also, the server started to ignore us as the wait time got longer and answered our questions with 'soon' without listening to the questions. The server never asked us if we wanted water refill either. And the table that came in ~30 minutes after us got food before us and left while we were still eating. Overall a terrible dining experience.
