The Mugs Irvine Reviews
This place is always packed and for a good reason! Empty places are the questionable ones .. service consistency as good as it gets same quality coffee and great danish cheese .. slow yea! Because they are busy! .. I checked their operation flow the only way to make this place go faster: 1. make bad quick coffee 2. quick inedible food 3. Online order for pickup and risk cold coffee or my favorite 4. Get a bigger place
First time visiting obviously a hot spot for the locals, quite busy and crowded. Little bit of a weight for our lattes, the scones were so delicious.
Very lovely cafe! Despite having lots of seating, the cafe was full, but it didn’t feel crowded or loud; it was serene enough to read a book. The iced latte was excellent, and the pizza croffle was packed with flavour. Friendly staff. Great experience overall.
My current favorite healing coffee spot!🩷 One of the best coffee places in Irvine – highly recommended!🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸

Came in looking for a coffee and I’m so happy I chose this place! I was greeted politely and I asked for a recommendation, I tried the banana caramel latte I believe and it was one of the best coffees I’ve ever had in my life! The place is nice and cozy, they have a bunch of pastries that looked really good. Definitely will come back when I’m in Irvine again!
I have walked passed this place multiple times and always told myself I would try it. I finally gave it a try and regret how I didn't come sooner. Great coffee and fast service!
Mugs is a local favorite of mine. Coffee is excellent, service is excellent, and vibes are excellent. Great place to sit down for a few hours to get some studying or work done. I recommend trying their Tiramisu Latte, it's THE best sweet treat coffee drink ever The one thing you may find frustrating about Mugs is lack of indoor sitting space, during out of school and off work hours it gets quite packed and people are slow to leave. Its the favorite study place to a lot of the highschool and college students in the area so they can stay for hours at a time getting there work done. But if you don't mind waiting a minute or eating outside you will have a guaranteed 11/10 experience

So my coworker and I have a standing appointment weekly to go get coffee on Wednesdays and try out new places around town. Unfortunately this week I have to go alone, but got to go try out The Mugs! Honestly it’s overall ok. The places vibe is set up mainly as either a quick 2 person coffee and chat or as a study coffee shop. But really just seems like a study or work coffee shop. The staff were pretty friendly and kind of helpful, lol IDK. So there’s this trend where a lot of coffee shops for some reason don’t like to tell you what’s in their coffees? And that’s fine since most places don’t and most items on the menu are standard fare, but The Mugs had a drink I’ve never heard of called the Dalgona Latte (I’m not on TikTok so I missed it becoming viral in 2020 per my google of it later). Overcoming my personal issues of asking questions to a cashier I asked what this taste sensation was and was told that it’s an iced coffee with sweet cream and candy. A little more detail somewhere would have been great or a better explanation! But quick service 👍. As mentioned, I got the Dalgona Latte and was taken aback by it lol. The coffee sweet cream were good! It was a VERY rich coffee, I think? That’s the best term that comes to mind when trying to describe it. It came topped with a darkly toasted honeycomb toffee-like candy which was neat. Overall I’d say if your in this neck of the woods to give it a shot. Thanks!
I had toasts there and they were really good. The drinks were fine for me too. Only thing i want to say is the food delivery, when the food is done they just leave it there at the counter. One time i didn’t know if it was ready and waited then i went inside to check and the toast already not warm.
had a nice time to spend my morning here, the combo food is good for breakfast, also quite a lot of table can fit for labtop.
I thoroughly enjoyed their coffee, which was the second time I visited. The lively atmosphere was great, but it was also quite crowded. I definitely recommend this place.
I don’t go to cafes often, but The Mugs has become a frequent favorite of mine in Irvine. It’s conveniently located next to Zion Market with plenty of parking in the lot. There’s a good amount of seating both indoors and outside, and most people seem to come here to grab a drink and get some work or studying done—it has a chill, productive vibe. I really like the variety they offer when it comes to both drinks and food. In the past, I’ve tried some of their hot espresso drinks like the horchata latte, which was delicious. Lately though, I’ve been *obsessed* with one of their spring specials: the banana matcha latte. The matcha is topped with a thick, banana pudding-like layer that adds the perfect amount of sweetness to the earthy matcha. It’s refreshing, indulgent, and feels just right now that the weather’s warming up. If you're not into coffee or matcha, they have a solid selection of teas too—my boyfriend usually orders those. I haven’t tried any of their food items yet, but they definitely look tempting. Give this place a try if you’re in the area and looking for a cozy cafe with great seasonal drinks and a relaxed atmosphere!
First time visiting this small community coffee shop after Suda closed at the same location. While many people were inside, it never felt too crowded. Sitting areas were divided, it was easy to order from the counter. The taste of coffee and drink were OK, nothing special or outstanding compared to other small, specialized coffee shops in OC. Staffs and cashier were friendly, I will probably visit this place again when driving by Northwood Irvine area.
Lots of seat but crowded around 11AM. Bit pricey but worth while to come. Be aware you may mot find s at inside and there are some outdoor seats available. Recommended to come and try their coffee and food. I tried tiramisu latte
Nice strawberry matcha. Great place to get work done. Prices are a bit much for the quality/quantity.

I've been here 3 times so far and I've ordered the pumpkin spice latte iced. I love the espresso it is so good!! For food, I've only had their cheese Danish and it is buttery and delicious!
Great study spot, vibrant environment, and an unusually good music selection. Overall, it was a great experience!

The seating is spacious and there's a nice area to the side which is their study. There were quite a few folks on their laptops there. Service was very friendly. I got the blueberry matcha which was a little too sweet for me and the matcha flavor was hard to detect. It's a refreshing, sweet drink but I wouldn't call it a matcha.
The coffee was bad.. I got an americano e hazelnut and it tasted just like iced hazelnut syrup. Very fake tasting, didn’t taste the coffee. The croffles are smaller than advertised

This café once had real charm, but it’s gone downhill due to inexperienced staff and declining quality. The coffee no longer matches its high prices, and the experience doesn’t justify the hype.
It may be a good place but, there are some kids playing at the cashier! Make sure to print your receipt or avoid all the cost!
