Yukdaejang Irvine Reviews
Ever had a 3 star Michelin chef that’s a judge on Masterchef Korea cook you dinner? I know you wanna see what Chef Hoon Song served up. His special for the 3 day pop up at Yukdaejang in Irvine included his creative take of Korean Short rib patties, charcoal grilled, sauced up, and served with soybean soup & a ton of his favorite side dishes. 10/10 and it’s the next best thing to a fine dining experience I’ve had. I also tried Yuldaejang’s most popular eats like this savory kimchi and pork steamed mandu. Not to be outdone by their premium bossam in house special soy sauce. So much more flavor than others I’ve had. Finally the creamy brisket sullungtang soup with glass noodles to complete the feast for the night. One of the best solo dining experiences I’ve had
Love this Korean restaurant, everything on the menu is amazingly delicious!!!! You can’t go wrong with whatever you order there. I’ve visited it a couple of times and trying out different dishes. And everything I’ve tried just kept me going back. The Braised Spicy Premium Beef Rib with Flat Glass Noodle is on my top list !!!
First time trying this Korean restaurant. The portions are huge! Loved the grilled beef—it’s a bit sweet and very flavorful. The army stew is super generous, perfect for this season! Great service too. Really good value for money.
I went to Yuk Dae Jang on a Sunday noon, and it was a full house—we had to wait a few minutes for our seats, but it was well worth it! The yukgaejang (spicy beef soup) was rich and flavorful, and the bossam (steamed pork belly) was perfectly cooked with great sides. The banchan were fresh and generously refilled, and the service was friendly and attentive. The cozy atmosphere made the meal even better. Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic Korean cuisine—I’ll definitely be back!
It was mine and my husband’s first time trying the food here and let me just say it’s AMAZING!!! We got the army style hot pot and wow I don’t think Iv ever been more impressed! Everyone who worked there was also extremely kind and gave us aprons to cover our shirts with Definitely will be coming here again
The bossam was bussin, cooked to perfection. We ordered the medium size for 3 people. The I love that it comes with a bunch of delicious banchan! The pork with a bit of kimchi, a bit of pickledgreen onion, and garlic wrapped with lettuce was the perfect bite. mmmm The Premium Tripe & Brisket broth was so warm and comforting, I would definitely recommend. Can't wait to come back and try more items on the menu
Yuk Dae Jang in Irvine is a fantastic spot for Korean food lovers! The beef was incredibly tender and flavorful, while the fish cakes were a delightful surprise. They’re not only delicious but also unlimited – we ended up enjoying five plates of them! The portions are generous, and the service is attentive, ensuring a great dining experience. Whether you’re craving hearty soups or tasty side dishes, this place is worth a visit. Highly recommended for a satisfying meal!
What have I been missing! Their Nangmyun (cold Buckwheat Noodle was one of the best in Southern Calif. Ryuk Gae Jang was also very good. Portions are adequate. Kimchi was excellent. Will be back for more!
Yukdaejang Angus Brisket Cold Buckwheat Noodles (Yangji Mulnaengmyeon) are made with buckwheat noodles, giving them a chewy texture and a bowl full of refreshing and savory ice broth. So you can eat them cool down to the last bite. Recommended for those who want to feel cool from head to toe!

The food here is sooo good. Its my 2nd favorite Korean restaurant. Everything is bursting with flavor and there is never a shortage. Food comes out fast.

Variety of Korean dishes. I enjoy the sulangtang and the yukgaejang at this place !
Loved my soup. Delicious
Service is fast, food was good.
The best tofu yukkaejang I've tried. A+
Excellent ramen and the soup broth is amazing!
Great Korean food. Come here a lot.
My new go to for Korean soups/stews in Irvine. Solid.
My daughter from New York ordered a food delivery from here on Mother's day because she couldn't be with me. She ordered YukGyeJang & SulungTang. The food was so flavorful and tasty. The best YukGyeJang I've had. Their Mandoo was great also. It really made my day! So glad they opened a branch in Irvine. I strongly recommend the place.
Great food, great service! I've tried almost everything on their menu and love all of them. My favorite has been their yuk gae jang, but their relatively new galbi jjim (braised beef short rib) is becoming a strong contender! If you are in for slightly spicy, flavorful korean food, this is definitely the place for you.
Wonderful taste cold noodle(called "Naeng-Myun" in Korean), must be best in town, and I always bring friends from out of town visiting Irvine, and everybody is happy here. Hopefully, service people are more warm welcoming.
Great service and great food. The water was very fast working and attentive of details. Side dishes were also promptly refilled. Portions are very large. Classic korea comfort food.
This place hits all the right notes. As a group we ordered a variety of things and everything was great. The naengmyun and bo ssam were exceptionally good as well.
The soup was so good, it's just what I needed on a chilly cold night. The wait staff is very attentive. Awesome
So good I got the small premium pork belly but I wish I got the larger size. The side dishes are good too
Wow. This place absolutely touched my heart—my entire being was in tears, moved by the delicious food. 10/10 would recommend. AMAZING.
The menu is a little bit limited, but this place offers very good Korean comfort food
Gotta get that pork belly! Service was excellent. Kimchee is exceptional.
First time visit. I had Yukgejang. It was the best. I will definitely go again!!
Amazing 👏 🤩 We went on a rainy day, and I craved heartwarming food. The service here was supper friendly. We were standing outside, trying to figure out what they sold. The guy came out with the menu. He also helped us order. We have the pork belly and beef noodles. Both were very tasty and not dealy spicy. Kimchi is 10 out of 10 👍 The restaurant is full of Kpop atmosphere. They really fulfill my craving after watching k drama.
🐷•FLAVOR•LAND•FRIDAY•🐷 🐷 happy Friday y’all!!! What a week huh? Fires everywhere 🔥 and the news of transitioning to hybrid teaching got us stressed out 😰. Let us take you to Flavor Land at📍 Yuk Dae Jang in Irvine. We visited their new location to try out two more items on the menu. Everything was FLAVORFUL 😋 and perfectly cooked 👌🏽. The outdoor patio is clean 🧼 and spacious. If you’re near the Irvine area this weekend, we recommend you to visit. Thank us later. It’s worth it 😉 • What we recommend: 🍜 Original Yuk Gae Jang 🥓 Marinated Pork Belly
Very good Yukejang and bibim nangyuem! Get the Yukejang with the pasta it's so good. It comes out very hot (temperature wise) and quite spicy which was great. You can adjust spicy level. Bibim Nangyuem was also very good especially on a hot day Extremely good service! I'm writing this review because the staff here really went out of their way and did things we didn't even ask for. Came here with a party of 2 and the brought out extra bowls to split the food. Refilled our side dishes.
The first thing I want to say is the service here is SO GOOD. I would day it’s rare to find a place with good quality food AND amazing service like this. The people are all so friendly and attentive - it was nice to be able to eat good food and also be surrounded by good vibes. We got the yukgaejang ramen and yukgaejang soondubu. Both were flavored very well and we’d order them again. The kimchi mandu was not for me and I probably wouldn’t order them again but the side dishes made up for it!! The kimchi is perfect for pairing with soup. It was perfectly ripe for me and I usually don’t like fish cake as a side dish but I couldn’t stop eating this one here! Overall, we will be back for the soup!
Staff were very welcoming with us and checked in frequently to make sure we had water and banchan. We got the pork and chives mandu and the original Yuk Gae Jang with glass noodle / ramyeon. Would happily come back to this restaurant chain and location next time we visit Irvine
Delicious beef broth noodles with tofu, enoki, and scallions. The banchan is so fresh. The service is extremely friendly, especially to people unfamiliar with the food. And the bathrooms are clean!!
Great food and price the staff is really kind
Yukgaejang soup with a lot of green onions is so good. Bossam is also good. Kimchi is average. Overall I really love their food. When I was in Seoul, I used to visit this restaurant located at Samchungdong near Blue House. I thought that the soup was really delicious there. I’m happy to see this restaurant in Irvine. 😊
The wait was a little long, but well worth it! There is seriously only one guy running the front. A lot of online and phone orders came through while we were waiting to be seated and while seated. As busy as it was the gentleman server/waiter was very polite and had a great attitude. This is my goto place so I didn't mind the wait. The food is always consistent and the service is always great.
5 star Bulgogi with glass noodle + Yukkjan soup. Good vive and we will definitely come back here when we are in Irvine. Only 3 side dishes, but tasty main dishes surely make up for that!
First time here because of a recommendation from a friend. Was not disappointed at all. Service was nice and you have an option to sit outside as well. Very rarely do I see any Korean restaurants offer bossam and was very happy that they not only offer it but it was good. I also ordered the ordinal spicy beef soup with their mixed grain rice which was super yummy 🤤. A must try for sure.
We ordered a kid’s SulLungTang, a (S) premium bossam, beef bulgogi with glass noodles, and the Braised Spicy Premium Beef Rib with Flat Glass Noodle. Everything was delicious! I wish we were told that the Small bossam would be “appetizer style” because we found out after that the medium and large come on the skillet with the tofu. But it was delicious! All the accompaniments were so good, everything paired so well together. Would absolutely eat this again. The bulgogi glass noodles was good but a smidge too sweet. I didn’t understand why this came on a burner because every was cooked and the heat just made it more soggy. The server said to turn off the fire once it boils but it was all cooked already so I didn’t get it. The spicy braised beef ribs was soooooo good. Definitely spicy even when we got the “less spicy” level. The chewy rice cakes and noodles cooked on the burner and it just made everything combine so well and tasty! Love the squash and veggies in it and the flat glass noodles were great. Chewy and delicious. Oh! And they have purple rice!!! Service - fantastic! Every single person/server was so extremely helpful and nice from being greeted at the door to our dining experience up to leaving. Explained everything very well. It was our first time here. Made our dining very enjoyable. Parking - strip mall area, free parking lot! It’s a small restaurant so it can get busy. Plus it a near an HMart. So I can see parking can get busy too.
I and my friend were amazed by how tasty the braided short rib was. My friend said the pumpkin was such a nice touch to the sweetness of the soup. On top of that, the customer service was exceptional. We had a great time hanging out at Yuk Dae Jang. We will surely come back for more dishes.
Love this Korean noodle chain! Depending on the times you are there, this place (and it's other locations) can get PRETTY PACKED! I had the original yuk gae jang and all noodles generally come with the beef strips and a LOT of onions. Spice levels are tolerable, unless you really can't handle spicy foods. Most noodles come with glass noodles, but I highly recommend the fresh pasta since the noodles are thicker and easier to see. All the noodles are delicious however so I'm always having difficulty picking. 🤣 Location of this place is near H-Mart, a Korean marketplace, and if this place is too crowded and you're not patient enough to wait, I'd recommend checking out the other food locations nearby!
Came in for a quick lunch with a friend. Nice servers and quick food delivery made this a nice way to spend my money. Im heavily biased towards all Korean food so id tou want to venture away from the BBQ scene, highly recommend!
This place has consistently good Yuk Kae Jang. I've been here several times to know they are pretty consistent. The side dishes are usually, Kim Chee, fish cake, and scallion salad. You don't have to wait long to get your food.

Ordered the beef short rib yuk gae Jang. It was delicious! Beef was super tender and fell off the bone. The only negative is they don't offer a lot of side dishes. Only 3..kimchi, chives and fish cakes. Other than that it was good. I'll be back when I'm on vacation again.
Oh well, food is all about your own preferences. I don’t like sweetness in my food, so a 4-*. You are welcomed to disagree. Having said that Banchan (side dishes) however is the winner. Services are very good, waiters check every table periodically and frequently enough, making sure every needs are taken care of.
Bossam was ok, they are very thinly sliced. I feel like this was better before here. The galbijim was very good, and pretty big. I think it would be enough for 3 maybe 4 people. Banchan was good, and they have purple rice. Original yukgae gang noodles were ok, the noodles were a bit tough, and the meat in it is low quality. They only had one server out at 11-11:30 am on a Sunday, and service was slow and it took our food a while to come out
Order the dried cod hot pot and the seafood chige hot pot. You can choose between white rice and purple rice. Complimentary Oden, Kimuchi, fresh chives and onions are first placed on the table. The server is very friendly and helpful. The dried cod hot pot has a monotonous and gentle flavor. You may get bored of it in the latter half of the meal. The seafood chige hot pot was spicy and tasty with lots of ingredients such as shrimp, shellfish, and tofu.

A bit pricy but who cares. They have really great food!
My first time visit... very delicious.
The food was ok comparing to their k town location
The fantastic food, the service at YUK DAE JANG is top-notch. The staff members are friendly and eager to ensure that your dining experience is nothing short of exceptional.
Taste was good. Unfortunately there was a small bug out. They sincerely apologized and replaced new dish. It’s ok for it. Overall good.
Really delicious. Very impressed how they've transitioned their business during COVID. Everything is well packaged.
solid 4-star place. fairly good taste and portion. you will be charged with fixed 18% tip even for party of 5.
Best YukGae Jang in Irvine and surrounding local area. Everything else is good as well! Kimchi is always fresh and flavorful. The parents ask to go there often which says alot. Customer Service is always courteous and available!
Bossam is really delicious. This is the first time I see napa cabbage is being used instead of lettuce to wrap the meat. The sauce is delicious as well. The dried pollack soup is a little disappointing because it is kinda bland; maybe that is just how it is, I'm not sure. The spicy soup are definitely better seasoned and is pretty spicy.
I don't dislike my YukGaeJang but honestly it tastes like some sort of deluxe Korean instant ramen cooked with extra sauce packets and shredded beef. Yeah, custom-made ramyun is no difference than ramen noodle.. So $18.99 is a little expensive for a bowl of ramen to me. And their banchan is pretty medicore. I'm okay with only three types of banchan but they don't taste great. The fish cake is way too sweet. No complain with their service tho.
Food was ok, not really kind of food but decided to go because my daughter wanted to go. I like the bowl and how they give you the food. Food looks really good in picture but thought it could've tasted better. Thats my honest opinion. If you like this type of food then I'm sure this place would be for you

Employee who served as not friendly and my wife and I have uncomfortable stomach that night.
Seafood yum dae Jang taste different at times; broth. And too many empty clam shells and cold soup is not good at all; best in Korea
We were told that our entrees came with purple rice but we never got it.
I ordered bo saam. There was a hair in my 겉절이. I didn't complain because that kinda thing happens when you're making fresh food, whatever. We ordered the dumplings. They were ok, but really needed something. As I was leaving, the server gave a different table a dipping sauce, which was exactly what I needed and what we were not offered. Additionally, we were given the short cups for water, not the tall ones. Overall not the best service, but the food was otherwise acceptable, and came out pretty quick. My nang myun curiously had a lot of shredded beef, much more than expected.
The food is great but the prices are increasing and getting pretty ridiculous. Foot traffic is everything for restaurants and I'm definitely feeling deterred. Most stews are around $17 so you're easily paying $20~ for getting any single entree after tax. As a returning customer, I find this place difficult to justify frequenting more often than once every few months because there are quite a lot more options at the $20 range. If an entree after tax is $15, I'd be much more comfortable revisiting once a week or maybe more.
Hard to give this place a four or five star since I've had much better Korean food in L.A. and San Diego. It was just ok. They only gave us three ban chan (sides) and served us with plastic disposable spoons instead of the authentic metal Korean spoons. They didn't ask if we wanted barley tea, but instead just served us cold water. Not sure why there was a line to get in. But I'd say the food they serve is good for a cold winter night.
Not very good and over priced. I had soondae and beef bone soup. I mentioned it was over-priced for six pieces of soondae. The waiter said cost was from the soup which comes from Korea. I still find it over-priced for poor food served in plastic containers. Have they not heard about micro-plastics? I will not come back.
I would give 0 stars if I could. I dined in once and received barely any service. The one server looked like she was being forced to do everything on her own. The food was just okay. Today, I decided to give them another chance and ordered the Original YukDaeJang through UberEats. While eating, I found a hair in the beef, which was already disgusting, but I tried to brush it off as a fluke. Then I found another hair in the same dish. At that point, I started wondering if there’s a hair loss problem in the kitchen. I couldn’t keep eating and ended up requesting a refund through UberEats. Definitely not ordering from here again.
Had family dinner. Very rude servers. You barely feel you get service. Sullung tang was not like Korean sullung tang. More like Green onion soup which has chunk of big green onions as on the picture. Hard to chew even. Meat inside was for yukkejang not for sullung tang. Looks like cool person does not know how to cook Korean food. Bibim naeng myun does not come with hot Yuk su. Manager said we need to order separate for cup of Yuksu. If you want typical Korean style food, definitely this is not the place. Skip from your list. Seems like manager don’t care about service either. Food and service all worst .

The pumpkin is not cooked, the potatoes are not cooked, and the beef is only 4 pieces. Not worth 65.
Poor management and dirty. They leave tables uncleared while people are waiting to be seated. Really poor business practice. Irritating to stand around waiting for table while seeing several tables unoccupied but uncleared of previous customers’ food. Very unappetizing to look. Plus it’s not sanitary to have this kind of business practice.
$46 for a simple bowl of budaejjigae is nothing short of highway robbery. Frankly at that price, a dish built on Spam and ramen should be making me poop diamonds and pee liquid gold to feel even remotely worth it.
Very rude staff. How many times do you need to be told of the closing time? Change your hours if your employees are too lazy to do their jobs. And being argumentative with clients is unprofessional. Poor experience here. Proof that not every food worker deserves a $15 minimum wage.
Very disrespectful management. Food was terrible. Asked for one small candy for a four year old and they refused to give even though I offered to pay for it. Would never return and don’t recommend at all.
Said everything was out and then proceeded to give other tables what I ordered
0 ! I recommend this restaurant for everyone. This item of the food his some fishy smell… the food is very saggy , smelly … with some colors .. no taste.. no favors.. I don’t know why I ordered from them .. I still smell a fishy smell from this experience.! The food here is not for humans or animals… This is only for Asians …
Food- OK Service- This part throws me off. Young gentleman was very nice. The older guy told us to leave right when we finished, saying there is a waiting list. We weren't even there more than 45 minutes. If we sat there hour and a half, two, I understand. But You should not be forced out after little more than 30 minutes. We did not want to make a scene so we left, but never returning.
Update- quality went wayyyyy down in one year. All the koreans around my table complained eating including ours. 1. Soup too salty 2. Running by part-timers who dont know what korean food is. 3. Worst side dishes. 4. I am a 국밥 lover but even i could not finish half of the bowl. Service is decent but the food is terriblex3
