Alder & Oak Jacksonville Reviews
Highly enjoyable first outing - beverages and appetizers only for this journey, but I cannot wait to return. Shout out to our fabulous server, Savana!
Food and atmosphere were wonderful. Only thing that made it better was the service by Devin. He was extremely knowledgeable and attentive. We really appreciated his banter.
After much anticipation, I was finally able to sit down for dinner at Alder & Oak, and my final report is that I will in fact be back again and again. The design concept is absolutely unique, and adds a new and exciting restaurant style to the Riverside area that will only get better as the weather warms up. We sat at an inside table but will definitely be checking out the rooftop bar for pre and post-dinner drinks next visit. For our first time, we stuck with the basics - pizza and pasta. And cocktails, of course. We started with the Wild Thyme and Dill-usional cocktails. Both of these were served in martini glasses (perfect to me). Of the two, the dill cocktail absolutely stole the show. Such a unique concept with dill and cucumber flavors, topped with black pepper, and not too overpowering. If you like funky flavors, you absolutely have to try this out. Of course, a dill cocktail just has to be sipped with a pizza, so we ordered the Prosciutto Parma. The crust was actually amazing, and I’m so happy to report that this pizza is worth the try. We also split the Bucatini and Truffles pasta. Again, another major hit for us. The combination of truffle and wild mushrooms (and yes, it’s important they’re wild) was amazing in this dish. Another perfect pairing with a cocktail. While we did not get around to any appetizers this visit, our table neighbors ordered the Lamb Kofta which will 100% be on my order next time. It looked absolutely amazing. We also saw the Lobster Tagliatelle come out, and if you’re looking for a “phone eats first” dish, this is the one! We also tried the Galatopia (milk pie). I’d love to keep Alder & Oak a secret, but it’s truly deserving of your visit. I definitely plan on eating my way through the entire menu, so if you’ve been, I’d love to hear you recommendations below. 📍Alder & Oak Riverside, Jax, FL 🍴Wild Thyme Cocktail, Dill-usional Cocktail, Proscuitto Parma Pizza, Bucatinni and Truffles Pasta
Such great fresh foods and cocktails! Service and ambience were amazing! Everything we ordered was amazing. Forgot to get a picture of the fired cauliflower and chicken and lamb kabobs but they were amazing. Overall great service and will return very soon!
Very cool spot! Great ambience. The food and cocktails were delicious. We went for lunch and ordered the Beets Salad, Roasted Cauliflower, Mediterranean Chicken Pita, and Chicken Thighs. All very good. Jacksonville needs more places like this. I'd definitely recommend!
Everything here was phenomenal. From our server Savana, to the fast service and amazing breeze off the river. This is definitely the spot you want to try. I enjoyed the lamb kabob, beet salad, and for dessert; I tried both the milk pie and the pistachio baklava. I used the complimentary valet parking that was a breeze.
We had an INCREDIBLE evening at Alder and Oak! The food is out of this world, Michele (our server) was fantastic and the atmosphere and decor was so fitting. You MUST try the eggplant hummus, to die for! To complete an incredible evening, Southern Grounds is attached to the restaurant and I was able to order a coffee and have it brought directly to the table to enjoy with our dessert. We are already planning our return! What an amazing addition to Jacksonville!
Alder & Oak is one of those places that instantly makes you want to slow down, settle in, and enjoy the moment. Tucked into Brooklyn at 400 Riverside Ave, this modern, Aegean-inspired, wood-fired restaurant blends Mediterranean flavors with warmth, craft, and genuine hospitality—and it absolutely delivers. From the moment you walk in, the vibe is welcoming and relaxed. There’s a beautiful balance here: humble ingredients, thoughtfully elevated, all centered around the hearth and the magic of wood fire. The rooftop adds another layer to the experience—perfect for evening cocktails, conversation, and soaking in the neighborhood views. The food is fantastic across the board. The wood-fired pizzas are Italian-style, freshly made, and full of flavor with perfectly blistered crusts. Seafood dishes are prepared fresh and treated with care, letting the quality of the ingredients shine. Every plate feels intentional and seasonal, rooted in Mediterranean and Aegean traditions without feeling heavy or overworked. Drinks deserve their own applause. Alder & Oak boasts an extensive and well-curated collection of wines and spirits, making it easy to find the perfect pairing whether you’re here for dinner or just drinks at Zorba’s Bar. And for coffee lovers, having Southern Grounds Coffee right inside the space is a major bonus—great coffee in a setting that invites you to linger. What truly ties it all together is the staff. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely happy to have you there, they elevate the experience without being intrusive. Alder & Oak is part of The HUB, a unique concept bringing together multiple dining experiences, a courtyard gathering space, and a rooftop lounge—all under one roof. It really does feel like there’s something for everyone here, making it a standout addition to Jacksonville’s growing Brooklyn neighborhood. This is a place built around flavor, fellowship, and fire—and it shows. Whether you’re stopping by for dinner, drinks, coffee, or a rooftop evening, Alder & Oak is absolutely worth the visit.
My husband and I went there this evening on a spontaneous decision, and it turned out to be the best choice! The food was absolutely delicious. We ordered the three dips, hummus, baba ganoush, and the third dip (I forgot the name, but it was just as amazing!), and every single one was full of flavor. We also had the Bianca pizza with honey, and it was incredible. Our server, Devin, was very attentive and took such great care of us throughout the evening. The whole experience was wonderful from start to finish. We will definitely be back and highly recommend it!
From the hostess station to the bagging of my delectable leftovers, Alder and Oak was superb! Our server Savana stole the show with top notch knowledge of the menu, spot on recommendations and attentive check-ins. This was a Mommy Daughter date with my #MiniMe and we WILL be back! Thank you Savana for curating a first class experience.
We chose dinner at Alder and Oak Brooklyn to celebrate our Anniversary, and we were not disappointed. The overall experience was exemplary. Our waitress Michelle, was well versed with the menu and an absolute delight. My wife and I were quite pleased with our selections: Lamb Kofte and Baba Ganoush as appetizers, I decided on Grilled Octopus and my wife, the Verlasso Salmon, all excellent choices. They have an interesting drink menu as well as a nice selection of wine. My wife enjoyed her Aphodite (Gin Martini), and I had the Garden Standard (Margarita), both cocktails were well crafted. All in all an outstanding meal and experience, especially for a special occasion. We will be back.
This place looks absolutely Amazing. Jax, Fl has a beautiful roof top restaurant coming soon! CAN'T WAIT!
Everything was delicious! Wife and I went to Greece for our honeymoon and the tzatziki brought us back there, it came with fresh made pitas. The ribeye was cooked to the perfect temperature (medium), and an herbaceous steak butter that we slathered over it. Was tender enough to cut with a butter knife. The pizza, had a wonderful floppiness but a nice rigidity. We had the prosciutto pizza and you could taste how fresh the ingredients are. However, there is one thing that blew everything away: the tuna crudo. It had a lovely spice with a nice crust, finished by the savory umami of the tuna. 10/10. Forgot our server’s name, but she was on it with anything we needed. I will definitely be back.
Savana made our Valentine’s Day brunch so special!! Food and atmosphere was great! 10/10 recommend.
My boyfriend and I visited Adler & Oak for the first time tonight! Overall, great experience. Devin, our server, was wonderful and personable. The atmosphere was amazing, really good vibes. The food we gave a 4/5 simply because the tuna crudo was a bit bland, it needed more salt and some citrus topping. The first drink my boyfriend got, the Oracle, we sent back because it read like a manhattan but came over ice and the dilution didn’t pair well with the drink. On a positive note, the A&O Mezze platter was incredible as was the Salsiccia pizza. Overall would definitely come back and Devin made our experience lovely!
Had a great time on the roof top at Zorbas bar Michael assisted us and was very helpful. I got the Thyme drink and turned one of their alcohol free drinks into a cocktail and I was really impressed. By the way the city view is very pretty.

Devin was a great server and the ambiance was great. We ordered the burrata, steak, espresso martini, and dill usinal. All of it was flavorful and we will 100% be back
Savana made our Valentine’s Day brunch so special!! Food and atmosphere was great! 10/10 recommend.
We came here for Valentine’s Day and had an incredible time! The food was delicious and our waitress, Savana, was so helpful and attentive! A great night all around
Great service by Savana overall good experience I was well taken care of and will be coming back
Overall great experience our server savana granted us great customer service
Came here for Valentine’s Day dinner, immediately treated with great service and was sat instantly. As soon as we sat we were greeted by Savana, she was very kind a great server. She recommended some food for us and even did a great job updating us on when the food was coming. My only small issue is that it can get a little loud when you are inside but that’s a sign of a good business. The food itself was great and for a classy dinner it wasn’t too expensive. Highly recommend!
We had an amazing experience. Michael offered a friendly, attentive and flawless service. The food was delicious and they even made accommodations for the cold weather. If you're in Jacksonville, you just visit this restaurant! :)
Savana was wonderful! Very attentive, she went above and beyond- getting us hot tea. The food was amazing! Love the fusion of flavors!
Showed up while on an Art Bike self-guided tour on Valentine’s Day. They asked if we had a reservation. We didn’t, but they found us a table! I would say this place is a $$$ restaurant. The food is delicious. I had the lamb and my husband had the chicken. They made a delicious vodka martini and old-fashioned for us.
Alder and Oak is probably the best Greek / Mediterranean sit-down in Jax. The atmosphere is indoor and outdoor. Food is unique and flavorful. Thank you Savana for the welcoming experience and Service!
Wonderful food and very attentive service!
Savana was attentive and delightful
Savana our server was wonderful and the flavors were so delicious.
Havana was great!
Had such an amazing experience at Alder & Oak! The food was absolutely incredible from start to finish — every course was seriously delicious. Standouts for us were the burrata, the lamb shank (so tender and flavorful), and the wood-fired pizza. Service was just as impressive. Huge shoutout to Devin, our server, who was super attentive, friendly, and made the whole meal feel seamless and special. Can’t wait to come back and try more of the menu. Highly recommend!
Alder and Oak is going to be the next big hit in the Jacksonville food scene. We had an incredible dinner courtesy of Bella. We ordered the bread service along with the burrata to start. Both of which were fresh and had great flavors. My wife and I shared the lamb kebab platter and added the orzo and carrots. Lamb came out fresh right of the grill and was succulent and perfectly cooked. For drinks, I ordered the oracle and one of the Croatian red wines, both excellent. Overall a great dinner and we'll worth visiting!
Just what DT Jax needed!!! The fresh Mediterranean food reminded me of home and Zorbas bar is a perfect rooftop! Make a reservation today!
I came here for lunch on a Saturday and it was delicious! I honestly didn’t even know this place was opened yet, but I'm glad I saw that it was! It's so cute and truly does give Mediterranean vibes. First of all, our waitress/server Kim was a treasure!!!!! She is the sweetest thing and was so fun. She gave great recommendations and has the best personality. She honestly made our experience at Alder&Oak more fun. The lunch menu I found online on their website did not match the menu I was given, so that was disappointing, but it's okay. The A&O Mezze Board was delicious- may have been the best Tzaziki I've ever had. The hummus was also so good! For my main, I had the Chicken Souvlaki. I don't know that I would get it again because it was kind of dry and too chewy, but the flavor over all was good. The wine list was exceptional. I tried a red and a white- both were so incredibly smooth and delicious. I love how they custom picked these wines after tasting them on location (at least that's what Kim told us!!). I'd definitely come back again.
So, I tried this place on Valentines Day. The atmosphere and vibes were awesome. I have to come back at night so I can sit on the rooftop area. The food was great especially the lamb shank and the hummus. The drinks were not all that great but I would come back.
I was really looking forward to trying this place, but unfortunately it was a letdown. I went last night with a friend and we both left pretty underwhelmed. It feels like another spot in Jacksonville that overpromises and underdelivers. We had a reservation and sat downstairs. Our server was sweet, but the food was just okay — maybe a 6/10. The biggest issue was the bar downstairs, which couldn’t seem to get our drinks right. On the second round, I sent my drink back and asked for something different, but I was still charged for the drink I didn’t even consume. When the bill came and I mentioned it, I was told there was nothing they could do. I let it go, paid, but that was disappointing. We decided to check out the rooftop for a drink, only to find out there are no bathrooms upstairs. If you’re on the rooftop, you have to go down two flights of stairs to use the restroom — not ideal, especially if you’re wearing heels. It’s a shame because the place itself is really cute, but it’s fairly pricey for food that’s nothing special and customer service that misses the mark. Unfortunately, we won’t be going back.
This is a genuine review based on my visit last night before returning home to London. As this is a fairly new establishment and given that it was Super Bowl night I did not expect a Michelin-level, five-star experience. The location was easy to find, with convenient parking available along the side of the restaurant. I arrived with a friend, and the layout was interesting, appearing to combine three different concepts in one space. However, I was surprised by how empty it was. The rooftop bar and café areas were completely vacant. Access to the rooftop is via stairs only, and due to the chilly weather and lack of heaters, we chose to dine indoors. Unfortunately, the atmosphere did not reflect a modern Mediterranean concept and felt underwhelming overall. Atmosphere: 1/5 Food: 3/5 Service: 1/5 Our server, Heather, appeared uncomfortable throughout the evening. I’m unsure if she was having an off night, but her approach negatively impacted our experience. She did not explain the menu to my colleague, which resulted in her unintentionally ordering from the raw selection. The interaction began with a list of unavailable items rather than guidance or recommendations. Additionally, my colleague was visibly emotional for personal reasons and handed over a $100 bill for an $80 tab. Heather returned with the $100 broken down but did not clarify that payment had not been completed. As we were leaving, she followed us outside stating that payment was still due. This situation was both uncomfortable and unprofessional, and unlike anything I have experienced before. Would I return to this establishment? Unfortunately, no.
