Flatiron Coffee Roasters Jamaica Reviews
Among the better cafe experiences I’ve had at airports - the food and drinks came quickly and were delicious, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the space was clean and inviting. A welcome respite during a long layover
I enjoyed a Classic Breakfast Bagel served with a portion of potato cubes and a cup of cappuccino for £23 while waiting to board my flight to London. Although slightly pricey, this is typical for an airport eatery. The meal arrived in under 10 minutes, and the staff member who took my order was polite and friendly. Altogether, it was a pleasant and stress-free experience, leaving me plenty of time to catch my flight.
So the foods not great. But first thing in the morning when it’s quiet the staff are friendly. And it’s the best cup of coffee you will get at JFK! Considering it’s an airport location, not bad.
Americano was excellent, and breakfast food was quite good. Chicken avocado sandwich with egg added, oatmeal. Line moved a little slowly but we were not in a rush. Lots of seating including couches, high tops, tables, and booths. Music matches the coffee shop atmosphere. Pricey as to be expected in the airport.
Reviewing based only off the pour over coffee I ordered. Service was friendly & efficient. The pour over coffee was very good, not watery nor burnt. For a third wave coffee lover and an Aussie, I generally avoid airport coffee or chains such as Starbucks. This however was impressive and especially so being at the airport.
The chai latte was great, sandwich that they made with chicken and avocado was really good and freshly made. My only complaint is the almond croissant because it was quite stale. The employees deserve more credit that they get, it’s a tough job and insane traffic, especially in the morning. They were super efficient and did a great job.
I didn’t find this place too terrible for airport food, that’s why I gave it four stars. I wanted a light breakfast and it fit the bill. I got the quiche Lorain, which didn’t have much more than egg in it, but the flavor was good. The croissant wasn’t anything to write home about. For you dieting folks out there, this place will take pounds off your wallet.
Coffee quality has dropped over the years. The egg salad sandwich is still a nice option for quick morning bite. Service was also slow on a slow day.
Terribly unclean sofas to seat. The Avacado grill chicken sandwich was okay for 26 $ .The service personel did know the order so I had to wait assuming someone will serve. The chips were toooooo salty
A nice coffeeshop to sit and wait for your flight. They allow you to charge the phone. The service is horrible (in every store in the terminal the server is horrible so it doesn't really bother me...) And the coffee is OK. Get ready to pay $6 for a cup of coffee + $5 for Evian water :) No doubt I'll never be back here unless if I'll have to charge my phone... #coffee #drink #eat
Coffee isn’t that great, place looks nice until you take a closer look. Most of the tables weren’t cleaned. The like wasn’t that long, but when I walked towards my get I realized there was a Starbucks not too far away, so maybe that’s why. Paid $6.50 for a cup of coffee which is I guess normal for an airport.
Sad staff, espresso machine off, 3$ banana, no decaf. At least the guy in the counter said have a nice day you too
The coffee here was terrible. The croissant was alright. I'd look at other options the next time round.
I didn’t have a bad experience, staff was fine, place was clean, but the coffee was quite bad. I ordered a vanilla latte, it was way too sweet. I was watching the barista make it and as a former barista they did not do everything the correct way. I would just get the drip coffee if you go here.
The coffee is bland and definitely overpriced. $8 for a double cappuccino. The cheapest water bottle is over $3. But the plain bagel with cheese was good and warm.
Americank coffee that tastes like washed water 🤷♂️
At JFK store I tried to use my own cup and the server said it had to be served in one of their cups, which is not recyclable and will end up in a landfill. Catch up with the times! Either use recyclable cups or let people ring their own!! I will not buy anything from this company again until they change their policy.
Wanted to grab dinner breakfast between flights. Unfortunately, picked this place to grab it. The woman at the register wasn't very pleasant and clearly didn't care about the details of what you ordered. I ordered oatmeal (which was actually cooked oatmeal, not instant oats, at least) and asked for no brown sugar- she failed to communicate that and it came with brown sugar in it. My husband ordered a cold drink and it came out hot. And, his bagel was microwaved, not toasted. They were NOT busy so this should not have been a challenging order to get right. Skip this place and go to Dunkin down the hall!
Was this an iced mocha, absolutely not. I heard the lady say carmel macchiato, no one responded, she asked what I had, told her iced mocha and she just added chocolate syrup. She didn't even stir it. So I ended up with a carmel, chocolate thing. Upside it was sort of edible.
If the coffee wasn't terrible and overpriced, this would be a nice spot to sit and people watch. We ordered a Cortado and a Flat White while on a layover in JFK. Having just spent 5 days in Europe, this coffee was a shock to the system. Milk was too foamy and coffee was either burnt or non-existent. We couldn't even figure out which was the cortado and which was the flat white. Can you tell the difference?
Employees (cashier) are rude, don’t seem to care about give you proper information about the menu items, making it difficult for those with dietary restrictions, as if they don’t even want to take your order. Seem to be careless with peoples orders and requests too, as the food isn’t great but the service really impacts on it. Awful costumer experience.
Latte all wrong. 12oz cup. 6oz of coffee, just one long espresso shot, more like an americano + 6oz of lukewarm milk, obviously zero texture. $5. If you have no interest on offering proper coffee, just use an automatic machine, it can't be worse that what I got.
Ugh! Angry workers who are gossiping with each other, complaining loudly about their work and treating customers with disdain for asking questions. Won't be returning, ever, to this location.
Terrible Service 3 Girls Just doing their hrs with out any effort. Asked to clean the table and the girls just left for a break. The other 2 girls are more worried about their fake nails than the customer or their job
So so bad. Minimum size for a cappuccino is a ridiculous sized 16oz cup. The staff have no clue how to make a good coffee. JFK is lacklustre for coffee options. Avoid this place.
Staff OK but products rubbish ... latte coffee flat/no froth and thin (supposed to be 'roasters') and almond croissant was unfresh and of cardboard texture. And for that, together they cost $22!!
Whatever you do, for the love of coffee avoid this place. I’ve seen them go from serving great coffee a decade ago to the absolute worst stuff you can put in a cup. Even by normes américaines!
Not sure what’s worse: the coffee or the pastries. The coffee is always watered down and extra hot (it burns your hand even with a cup holder). The croissants are awful. Go anywhere else in terminal 4
It’s so bad I want to give you a zero. But that’s not possible. So I give you a one. Terrible “latte” that cost $8. Shoulda gone to Dunkin’. Lazy and poorly managed employees.
They really wanted 1 Dollar extra for soy milk. For lactose intolerant people like me that is a no go, it was not even written anywhere so the idea that the girls take that dollar extra in their pocket is hard to ignore... Don't go!
All I wanted was a muffin…I watched as the only lady serving walked back and forth at 0.1 miles an hour. She was obviously not getting on with the back room staff, she told her manager she wasn’t happy (I could tell she was a manager as she wondered around with a laptop doing nothing to help customers get served), manager goes into the back, then loads of shouting, manager comes back out, tells lady it’s sorted. Instead of serving, the server then goes into the back….loads of shouting….eventually comes back and shouts “next!!” whilst looking at the woman next to me and not at me, who’s right in front of her…”can I have a muffin?” “What kind?” “Blueberry” “What kind?” “Blue…berry” “Which muffin” “Blooo…be…ry”….finally it arrives….nope not giving a tip….i want to go…..I just wanted 1 muffin
Worst Sandwich ever. I work here at T4 and I went there for a sandwich for lunch. There is one lady that works there that makes the best sandwiches . When she is not there you know it. I went today and ordered a Turkey/swiss cheese sandwich that I paid $10 for. I threw it in the garbage after 1 bite. Whomever made it just didn't care. They just slapped everything together and didn't even bother to cut it in 2. It was sloppy and nasty and the bread barely toasted. I will never ever go back there. I was a regular until today. If you don't like your job, quit or look elsewhere. $10 in the garbage.
Decent coffee but unpleasant manager that mistreats the employees. I saw it myself. Regret having bought a coffee at this shop on the JFK terminal 4. I sm not for supporting this sort of behaviour.
Horribly disgusting food. If you want super unhealthy an highly processed food you’re in the right place! Coffee is okay but honestly don’t reward them with your money, not worth it.
Disgusting and dirty place with low quality coffee. As other reviews have pointed out, I wish I looked them up before coming in.
I thought that any food place is supposed to have 1. A stocked kitchen?? 2. Somewhat nice customer service?? 3. The ability for a customer to be refunded after paying when the item is out of stock, instead of being forced to eat whatever is available at the moment?? And lastly, and I know this is tough, 4. At least a half-sincere apology for the lack of...well, everything.
Cute place for an airport, but service is slow and rude. Paid $8 for a cold brew with oat milk, and received a plain iced coffee with almond milk. Was then told they don’t have cold brew or oat milk, so why didn’t they tell me that when I ordered?? Bizzare and annoying
Very rude cashier. Didn’t reply to “good morning” and when I asked where to stand for my coffee, she talked over me and asked if I wanted my receipt TWICE. The messed up 2 orders in front of me, people were very agitated. Very dismissive and unprofessional staff.
I'm disappointed by the attitude of shop assistants and rules in this store. Nowadays when a whole World try to fight with tons of plastic, they don't make a coffee to your reusable cup. Theirs are not recyclable and they suggest to make a coffee to their cup and then you can pour it to your reusable cup...it seems they don't understand the issue because this is an absolute nonsense and losing the point of reusing cups. I did not buy anything there tho and went to the store nearby - Camden Food, where they make the coffee for the same price (6$)to your reusable cup.
I wish I had read the reviews ahead of time. I just experienced what seems to be the characteristic worst customer service I have ever come across. First and last time I’ll be ordering from there
Utter chaos and no clue. The kitchen staff ‘was on the toilet’ and so no food was made for 30 minutes. Staff were completely carefree and couldn’t have moved slower if they tried. The manager also seemed to not have a care in the world either - even while processing the countless refunds.
Horrible service. When I was charged $5 for a posted $3.99 cold brew - I asked the cashier if she charged me for a large she said no then I asked for the receipt and saw I was charged $5 for the cold brew. I told her that the system was wrong and she would acknowledge me and when I asked for the manager did she didn’t acknowledge me again.... go to McDonalds at least they have standards. Obviously the cashier doesn’t know about customer service and management doesn’t know how to train their employees.
Awful place and food! The stuff is slow and rude
Awful coffee, like really bad. Carry on to Starbucks
I went in there as they we "coffee roasters" and expected expertly made coffee. Asked for a Flat White, first thing it was too hot to touch, tasted it and there was barely any espresso, to much milk and tasted like *&(% to say the least. Went back and asked that they make another one. They asked what was wrong with the first and I gave them all 3 reasons. Next one was bad, but still not worth $5. Only good thing is their seats and power plugs. It's a shame, they have such a good opportunity to wow travelers.
This place is setting a new bar of low quality
Appalling coffee, stale pastries, stroppy staff. Don't bother stopping here go somewhere else to avoid disappointment.
How the heck is it legal to serve food this low quality? Bagel with lox was the worst I’ve ever seen and smelled too bad to try. This is the unacceptably bad. There should be some level of liability for just scamming people out of hard earned money. I want a full refund we spent $30 and didn’t eat any of it it was so bad. Shame on flatiron coffee roasters.
Always judge a "coffee house" on their drip coffee and this one was 1 star only. Only milk, no cream offered. $13 for a 5 inch quiche was completely unacceptable. Quiche was delicious but horrible price for the size and only heated in the microwave. Sorry to be so negative, the ladies service was pleasant enough, but cashiers only ok.
Didn't see the ratings for this place prior to me attempting to visit. The service and attitude of the individual working today was inadequate to the say the least. Inattentive and dismissive as a line grew with prospective patrons. Not sure what it takes for ownership to take action and correct as it appears my experience is echoed by many other travelers.
Easily the worst viennoiseries I've tried. And of course overpriced.
I received both of my different coffee orders, Cappuccino and Americano, with pre-brewed cold coffee, which was then reheated. The taste was undrinkably sour and washed out. The staff is having a private conversation, they don't care about the guest at all. Disgusting place.
The location was out of regular milk, but makes customers pay for the alternative milk. I wanted to support a local brand instead of Starbucks, but shame on you, you are no better. You lost a potential return customer. Just because you CAN rip people off doesn't mean you SHOULD.
Everything was overpriced, as is usual for most airports. However, an even bigger problem was that the service and quality were abysmal. Cashier/barista was either distracted or apathetic and simply didn't put the third item on our order. We waited for 15 minutes to receive 2 out of 3 drinks, which ended up tasting awful. And everything actually cost more than Starbucks in the same airport.
They wanted €1.10 to give us 60ml of hot water to make milk from formula for our baby. If it hadn't been for that we would also have bought coffees and a drink for our older child and some snacks, but this disgraceful charge persuaded us to take our business elsewhere. We went to Camden Food instead who were kind and generous.
Ordered grilled chicken and avocado, think I received ham. Heavy on mayo and light on avocado. Rude service with staff rolling eyes when asked to correct order from another customer. Didn’t even bother. Outrageous price for what you get. Just regular toasted sliced wheat bread.
The staff here are terrible. They forgot my order, refused to refund me when I was close to missing my flight because of the long wait for my missed order. Staff chatted amongst themselves and didn’t seem to be really working, despite messing up multiple orders. You can see the kitchen staff eating with their gloves on - absolutely not sanitary. Wish I’d read the reviews before walking in here. Avoid it and save yourself a guaranteed hassle.
Asked for $1.12 just for a small cup of ice - absolutely ridiculous
Terrible and overpriced. I ordered 2 coffees, 2 muffins, and 1 orange juice and the total was $32. I think that's absurd even for an airport restaurant. And the food didn't taste good.
It happened on 02/01/23 Cashier at the register was cranky to begin with. I specifically asked her to add extra milk because I don’t want my coffee to be bitter. She didn’t do that. When I went back to and requested at to add more milk, and I said thank you to her. She didn’t respond and instead she gave me look. I made 3 purchases at that location around 8:10 AM and none of the time she was ok to serve me. I hope someone check at the behavior of those team members!
Terrible experience. You attendant don't have any customers service. I try to order to the lady. She ignored to joke around with her co worker and didn't take my order right. I would not come back here to store in the airport
41 dollars for two tiny sandwiches, a bottle of water and a flat white. Probably the worst coffee I have had for a long time. Staff seem really bored. Wish I’d read the reviews, because any claims they make about coffee are delusional.
I had worst food in my life. I had grilled chicken avocado sandwich. Oh my, never had such bad tasting food.. bread was not eatable, chicken was not good and sauce was not good either. Coffee was too bad as well. I think people should be warned about this store. It seems they don't care.
I just stopped at this place after searching most of terminal 4 for coffee at 6am. When I ordered a drink, they wanted an extra $1 for SKIM milk, which is considered standard milk at every other coffee place in America. When I asked to change it to regular whole milk they gave me an attitude...lovely. The coffee itself is mediocre at best. Avoid it!
Stale, hard as a rock croissant for $5.25. Are you out of your mind?!
Slow and inaccurate. Got charged for a latte that I didn't order. Cashier reached over and pushed the maximum tip button during checkout. Worst coffee shop I've ever been to.
Cashier was on phone, saw me and continued on phone. I had to say good morning to get their attention and was met with an eye roll. then instead of getting the caramel machiatto i ordered, received a cappucino. It was not very busy. 05/31 9am. Croissant in a bag was disappointing.
Horrible place. staff barely communicates and is not welcoming, resulting in wrong orders. It happened with me as well as with other customers coming before/after me. Coffee is not professionally prepared, barista has nothing to do with being a barista, but merely operates an automated machine that my 5 YO (that doesn’t exist yet) can easily operate. Save your money, ironically this is not the place for coffee.
A bigger disappointment - Why did I not look at the ratings before walking into this empty coffee shop when rest all other outlets were overcrowded at junction. Common Sense. 🤦♂️ Note to the owners- Staff is demotivated and hence quite rude through out the interaction. You may want to start from there. A simple request for payment receipt was declined. All positive reviews, I’m 100% sure are paid. The customer before me was upset and the staff laughed when she said, you will be out of business soon. JFK Airport authorities should look into this.
One lady staff member was so rude and abrupt, even her colleague told her not to be so rude to customers, definitely wouldn't recommend , and the pastry was really poor
Pressured me into paying for order after I decided I no longer wanted to eat there due to rude customer service. Terrible croissant as well.
Ordered bagel breakfast sandwich and Americano coffee medium cost @ USD 27.00. Wanted to sit down but all the empty tables were untidy/ not cleaned after other customers. Asked the Cashier she said someone was coming to clean. Waited for about 10min and left to sit at a cleaner space. I expected better service especially at the high cost.
Avoid this place at all costs. Not only this place is outrageously expensive, its coffee is worthless, bad tasting, and terrible.
Probably one of the worst lattes I've ever had. Asked for an extra shot of espresso...it tasted like warm milk. Would not come here again. $15 for basically a tall cup of warm milk.
Omg! Empty place, 3 workers. Only one of them moves. She forgot to make my coffee. 4 customers and she forgot my coffee?? Never a friendly word, apology. What rude workers!
A croissant was advertised as $5 at the front. When I ordered one for a takeaway, the cashier set it at $12. I got confused and mentioned the price at the front. She decided to respond “lady, listen, that’s the price” with an unreasonably irritated tone. No other explanation besides how it “includes tax”. I decided the scam and rudeness wasn’t worth any more of my time.
Spent $40 dollars on coffee + food. I asked for hot water to make a babies bottle but apparently it’s ‘company policy’ to not offer complimentary hot water! This place should be ashamed of itself. Ended up going to Starbucks who were more than happy to help - go there and save yourself the hassle!
This place is as bad as other reviews. The $5 Cortado was scorched badly. Photo is of the second try, and I rarely send anything back (employee did not seem to understand that milk could get scorched). Pre-pulled shots are free poured from a large pitcher of "espresso" and the milk was steamed in a bulk pitcher with some fresh milk, some existing... already steamed or scorched. This is the WORST coffee experience I have ever had.
To the owners: it would just be easier if you changed your name so people don’t think you serve good coffee. Coffee is better at Starbucks and DD, that’s how bad it is
the WORST latte of my life. tasted like milk only.. I asked for a bit of extra coffee and she told me she would have to charge extra and that it already had 2 shots of espresso. I saw her only put 1 shot. also it was more expensive than what was advertised. on my way to Starbucks now…
After placing my order and paid, I received no receipt. When I asked the cashier about it, she said I didnt need one. I waited over 20 mins for my food with multiple persons (who ordered after me) getting there's. When I enquired what was going on, they laughed and claimed they gave my sandwich to someone else. They continued laughing when I demanded a refund and asked where was the drink I received. One worker, while laughing told me "calm down mami" which was said in such a derogatory way. They wasted another 10 mins trying to give me back my money and a receipt for the refund. After 30 mins, I received no food and had the worst service and experience at this establishment. If I could give 0 stars, I would.
I would give -100 stars if I could, The staff are extremely rude , I chose 2 sandwiches for me and my friend , the cashier rudely told me before she scanned them that they are €20 each ( ok mam do I look like I can’t afford ?! I can see the prices on the shelf ) After paying with the card she rudely told me that the card didn’t go through so I paid cash . Guess what ?? The card in fact went through and the payment is completed. I am now taking my own time to dispute the transaction . If anyone from the management sees this I would like my refund asap.
I ordered an iced caramel macchiato. The staff used an already made coffee to pour into a cup and I'm not sure how long it has been sitting there. When it was capped, it spilled a bit and how are you going to use an already used rag to clean the top of the lid where I was going to put a straw in? The drink tastes like something I shouldn't be having.
My flight was delayed and trying to use an airline meal voucher I chanced on this place. I got a 336 gram Caesar salad in plastic container for $20. They made me manually key in the code from the voucher because they could not scan it (why? An outlet in an airport?). It was horrid. Croutons soggy and lettuce brown. Some of the lettuce was actually rotting - a dark green slurry - although the "enjoy before" date was unexpired. Yuck. This might be a public health hazard. Avoid.
Don’t waste your time. Four people “working” but only one was actually doing something and she was moving at a snails pace. I ordered an almond croissant (hard as a rock) and a latte. It took over 20 min for my drink to be made. Would give zero starts if I could.
This place deserves the poor ratings. Service is lacklustre, and it's pricey. 12.77 for a lipton peach tea and fudge marble pound cake. The cake left a little bit terrible after taste and it wasn't clear on the packing what the expiry date was. On the upside, there is plenty of seating. People were buying pizza from the place opposite and eating it here.
Would you like some coffee with your hot water and ‘cream’? I’m not sure any drinks served here contain much in the way of coffee. Tasteless and at the usual airport premium $$$ I took my drink back to the barista and explained that it was entirely tasteless. She was very helpful and offered to add another shot of coffee. I was looking forward to having another run at the much-needed coffee with the extra shot…. I needn’t have. It remained tasteless. The image you see, is after the barista had poured away the vast majority of my original coffee and added another shot. They say coffee…. I say hot water and something kinda’ off-white. Save your money and get a free coffee on your flight. Truly awful.
Bad value: Waste of $13 (too much) for two “cortados.” Inaccurate: The large cup was half milk foam, half watery coffee. A cortado uses espresso, and I specifically asked if they made it with espresso beforehand (they said yes, not true). Poor flavor: The coffee that was there was very poor tasting.
All the pastries were rock hard at 5:30 AM (day old at least). Paid $35 for two pastries, two coffees and a large water. They offer no military discount, but do offer a crew discount.
One star only because zero is not an option. Tried to get some food here this morning around 9:00am. One person behind the counter putting milk in the refrigerator, never acknowledged we were standing there to order. Probably because she was on the phone with her AirPods. Other employees in the back laughing and carrying on. Maybe the coffee and food are good - will never know since we were never able to order.
