This restaurant is one of my favorites in all of Kansas City! I usually get the Buttermilk Cider Chicken. It's simply one of the best chicken dishes that I have ever had. And their scallops just melt in your mouth. The atmosphere is fun and inviting!

Thomas is awesome. I don't know what it is about 39th West but it seems to be pretty hidden from most Kansas Citians. I've only been to a few places along 39th but they always seem to be not quite as full as you'd like. I'd like to say I went to Thomas at a weird hour but it was 9p on a Saturday. The restaurant was mostly empty but the bar was quite full. However, the empty feel really didn't impact my experience here. The live music the night I visited was not that great but it set a pretty cool tone for the fairly empty restaurant. Our service was great even though the bartender was serving a whole bar in addition to us. The cocktails were original, delicious and manly. The Buttermilk Cider Chicken dish was to die for. Seriously, I can't tell you how much I enjoyed it. My wife's risotto was good if not a little too sweet. As much as I'd like to see Thomas a little more active, I won't complain that it's off the radar of most Kansas Citians. It will definitely be a new, local spot for me. A place where I can go with my friends for a bros' night or for a nice quite dinner with the wife.

Best classic martinis (read: not chocolate martinis or cosmos) in town, hands down.

I really wasn't impressed, though it wasn't bad enough for me to regret. We had the firecracker shimp, which were disappointing with low flavor and very little kick. The scallops were a different story, though it was the sauce that was wonderful as the scallops weren't great quality; we mopped up that plate, though. The buttermilk cider chicken was pretty good, but not so amazing as to justify $19 for a chicken dish and the mashed potato side was rather salty. The pan-seared duck breast was rather good, but again, not amazing. There is piano music being played by a talented pianist, but I found it distracting for conversation.

Had drinks and apps and decided to leave before dinner. The quality of the food was very poor. I felt bad for the server because she was so pleasant and I could tell she was trying. I won't return.
