Everything about this place just seemed so right! Ordered my food at the front, server brought my food, constantly checked in on me, refilled my drink 5 times (I tend to binge drink tea) and even laughed at my stupid jokes. Did I mention military discount? I had the 5 count onion rings, which were probably the best damn onion rings I've ever had, and the blackened chicken cobb salad. Both super good and huge portions! This is a must stop in and eat kinda place, especially if you're as much of a foodie as I am.

I'm from Austin, and with that being said the atmosphere of Willie's exceeded both my expectations, and what I'm accustomed to in my home town. The staff was quick, prompt, and respectful, especially my waitress Taja. I order small fried pickles and it was perfectly fried, I'd say better than pluckers and Buffalo wild wings. I also ordered the Icehouse burger and it was the softest I've ever had to bite into a burger while being fully cooked. I ended the order with the peach cobbler and it came on a sizzling hot plate and the ice cream cooled each bite, it was really rich in flavor and was a perfect way of ending my meal. Willys has to be one of my top favorite places when it comes to going out to eat. Today I tried the patty melt and it was cheesy with onions and the bread was super soft. We also tried the turkey burger which falls apart in your mouth and is deliciously tasty. The appetizer was also good, which was the fried mushroom and fried jalapeño paired with ranch dressing and queso. Let’s not forget the strawberry margarita, which was delightful. Restrooms were a little sticky on the floors, so be careful. Other than that amazing place.

Fried pickle tour: These pickles are pretty good. They're cut in chips, they've got good flavor, and the breading is decent, although not my favorite. The ranch is thick so it doesn't drip everywhere. Solid four stars. I got the small catfish dinner, which to be clear, is a full size dinner. I shudder to imagine the amount of good on the large. It was delicious. Teenager got the bacon Willie burger and loved it, and he's been super picky about his burgers lately. The restaurant is a walk up and order, but then there is table service. Our waiter was Taylor. He was extremely attentive, and it was a pretty busy dinnertime. Five stars for him. The ambience is pretty standard grill and icehouse. Paper towel rolls for napkins, sports on TV, loudish music. They have some outdoor seating, but we came on a rainy day. We will definitely come back.

This is a walk up and order place, but there is a plethora of iced beers that greet you at the door to make your wait more enjoyable. Once at your table (pick your own), a server takes care of you from there. Laid back atmosphere and especially nice on cooler days when it's all opened up "ice house" style. Several tv's going, good music playing and a play area for the kids. Food is always tasty and the prices are fair for the portions. Wait staff always attentive and nice.

To start off, I was greeted by the friendly cashier Alisha. She took the time to answer all our questions about the menu and was so friendly. After we sat our server Sophia greeted us and confirmed our order. Let me just say how amazing she was. We never had to ask for a refill and she made sure our experience was nothing short of fantastic. The Cajun platter with the garlic butter seasoning was delicious and my wife loved her grilled salmon. We will definitely be coming back and asking for Sophia.

I've been here three times before and every time the food is delicious and hot. The different salads are good and the baked potatoes are huge! My son in-law loves the crawdads. The meal comes on a huge tray and you can add different sides. He had potatoes and broccoli. The service was really good and the meals came out quickly.

As a Mormon, it’s hard to find a restaurant that can accommodate my big family of my wife and my 14 children. I usually have to make a reservation and that’s a pain when sometimes eating out is just a spurge of the moment thing. I prayed for guidance and Joesph Smith whispered back, “Willie’s”. I loaded my family up in the Christ Cruiser bus and headed off. When we arrived, the clouds parted and a golden ray rained down upon the sign, “Willie’s Icehouse.” Upon entering, we were met with heavenly smells and a Christ-like figure behind the counter. I hesitated to tell them the amount that would be dining in but they smiled and took us right to our seats. I was so touched, I fell to my knees and began to sob and praised Joseph Smith. We ordered our food and when I looked upon the waiter, Hunter, I don’t know if it was the lights or I was hallucinating but I swear I saw a halo above his head. The food was incredible. Having 14 children, it’s hard to find cuisine that all of them will be satisfied with but at Willie’s, the menu was so diverse, there was something that every one of my children enjoyed. When I received the bill, I prepared myself. Having a large family also means having a large bill. However, Willie’s food was so well priced that I had to call over the angel boy to make sure I wasn’t hallucinating the price. He assured me that was the price and I again fell to my knees sobbing. He helped me up with a smile and wiped the tears away and told me God was looking down upon my family. I’m sure that last part was a delusion from my mind being collapsed at how much money I was saving but I add it in the review because I could believe our waiter would do such a thing. In conclusion, Willie’s is now my family’s favorite restaurant and much like spreading the good word of the lord, I found it my duty to share how incredible this restaurant is. Amen.

Got two seafood combos (catfish and shrimp) and the blanco queso. To start off, the queso and salsa was a fantastic combo with a mild heat from the salsa. Then the queso was an amazing touch with an almost mellow feeling from the cheese after a bite of salsa. 10/10 Then with out meals, the seafood combos. They were quality made with an almost-perfect fry. I do wish they had more seasoning. Regardless is was still really good and I walking out fat and happy. Will definitely come back with the family soon.

Even when I was looking for a fried catfish meal for my daughter, she suggested a catfish kid's meal that wasn't even listed on the menu. We had a toddler with us so it made more sense to sit outside which we're happy we did because it was a wonderful evening. And that's saying a lot for Houston weather. Service was great! The server brought everything promptly and it was a Sunday evening so it was definitely starting to fill up but glad it wasn't a long wait. She even bought crayons and paper for the little one. I had a brownie to go and it was packed so meticulously. Honestly if you're thinking of getting the brownie, just do it! It was the best one I've ever had in my existence. Everything was quite affordable too! Will definitely be coming back and going down the menu to try different things.

Willie's will make you feel like you're eating inside a cool beach shack close to the sea. From it's neon-lighted signs to it's sea-eroded look, restaurant exudes a cozy and at-ease ambiance. I ordered a Bacon Cheeseburger with fries and it was delicious. Burger was juicy and the fries were hot and crisp. My wife ordered some Fried Shrimps and they were perfectly cooked. Restaurant provides plenty of screens to catch your favorite live sports. Outside seating is also available. Overall a great alternative and highly recommended.

Final Review: I went back to Willie’s Grill House yesterday and tried both the catfish special and the toasted shrimp special. The proteins were cooked well and had good flavor, and the tots were solid. The hushpuppies had nice seasoning but were a bit too doughy inside. I appreciated that the sauce for the shrimp was packed on the side since I ordered to-go, it kept everything from getting soggy. Overall, I’m keeping my rating at 4 stars rather than dropping it back down. The food isn’t bad, but it’s not exceptional either. I’d say it’s a decent spot if you’re looking for a specific vibe or craving something casual. I’ll still come back now and then, but this will be my last review for now. Updated Review: After posting my initial review, I was pleased to see the level of attention from both the local management and the company as a whole at Willie's Grill House. The general manager (Patricia) of this specific location personally called me to discuss my disappointing experience with the meal and offered compensation or an alternative dish for my next visit. I am impressed by Willie's overall commitment to addressing customer concerns and their proactive approach in ensuring satisfaction. This responsiveness has prompted me to revise my rating to four stars. I'll be stopping by in the coming weeks to try something new and will update you all with my honest opinion. Initial Review: I’ve been a customer at Willie’s Grill for a while now, and aside from the burgers, everything else is pretty mid or below average. My latest order from the seasonal menu is the Cajun Shrimp Pasta, and it was really disappointing. Even after removing the andouille sausage, I only got four tiny shrimp in an $18 dish. On top of that, it just tasted like spicy burnt pasta rather than having a real Cajun flavor. Definitely not worth the price. I expected better, but unfortunately, the quality just isn’t there.

The food is pricy for the portion size but in their defense they do send out coupons and promotions - so decent pricing can be had if you are selective when you eat here. I do wish the portions were larger though. Menu has lots of variety. Their service is not good most of the times I have been here. For as many people as they have working and as relatively small as the building is - they always seem slow to visit your table and check on you. Atmosphere is great. If the weather is nice, or there is a good game on - this is the place to meet up. Lots of drinks on the menu and whether drinking inside or out it’s a great atmosphere. All in all - I definitely recommend for casual dinning.

Did not expect that. I thought it would be a traditional sit and order venue. The order was prepared timely. Had a burger and sweet potato fries. The burger was ok, the fries had been sitting a while somewhere. They were not too freshly made, and a bit chewy and cool. Service was good and employee dls were very polite. I welcomed the politeness, they were trained well. I may be back to try a different menu item. They offer burgers, tacos, seafood, and chicken.

First time here in years, back before covid. I wish this place wasn't so noisy. I couldn't hear conversations with my family. I ordered chicken fried steak, gravy on the side, Cole slaw, onion rings, & water. The Cole slaw was average, not as good as I recall. Gravy tasted like a mix, just average. Steak tasted good & onion rings were great. Took half my meal home for a second meal. Service was ok, but we had a large group.

We appreciated the coupons we received in the mail, so we decided to pick up our meal on Friday night before our road trip. We were happy to find that we could place an order at our car for takeout. This was very convenient for us and unexpected. Our order taker was kind and friendly. Our food came out hot. Had we eaten inside like we had in the past, I would have requested my burger to be corrected. It was quite pink! I wasn't asked how well done I wanted it, nor did I think to ask. Unfortunately, we were already on our way out of town. When we have gone in the past, our kids love using the sandbox. I enjoy the food, though it is usually very salty, so for health reasons, we rarely choose Willie's on our family eat out night.

This place has been around for as long as I can remember. The staff is always friendly and the food is reliable. While I wouldn't say that the food is exquisite, it's good for what it is. I had the fried catfish and a garden salad. The flavor of the catfish was decent, but the portion size for the price was very underwhelming. I have high expectations for fried catfish. You can blame my grandmother for that. The salad was okay. And their ranch dressing and tartar sauce were good. Lol. My kiddo ordered the Lil Willie burger and fries. The burger was good compared to some places that serve kids burgers. The fries were just okay. I know this because there were plenty left over. They usually get devoured. The restaurant is dated, but again, you know what to expect every time you go in. This is a restaurant that we only go to about twice a year for a reason. It's not bad and it's not great. Their prices are not on the higher end, but they're not cheap for what you get.

My first time at this location. The beer on tab isn’t at the right temperature causing it to foam up bad and not have the best taste. The service was fair. The food was decent but probably not going to order the chicken steak again. For a Friday night there wasn’t really busy, any other customers in here make me question the other food items.

This place I think would be a lot better had you not have to stand in line to order your food and then go sit down with a flag on your table. Waiting for somebody to find you to bring your food. The hamburgers that we bought weren't bad per se but they didn't really have any seasoning and the buns that they used I don't think were proper. They were very soft buns and absorbed all of the liquid that was in the meat and the grilled onions. So it got to be very soggy and sloppy. The fried pickles and onion petals were extremely good. The waitress really is only there to refill your drinks and wasn't as attentive as I thought they should be. However, not terrible but it wouldn't be a place I would look forward to going back to, but if I happen to find myself there I would eat

Food was too expensive for the lack of quality and taste. The wings are bad and the flavors are not flavorful. Wait staff is lacking, but they expect a tip. Way too loud for a conversation.

Tried Willie’s Icehouse for the first time. I had the burger deal for $10.99. It was ok for the price.

Food could have been hotter overall the Willy wonka whip cream, ice cream, brownie was the best. Server was nice. Catfish hot and fresh, fries kind cold, queso cold, shrimp cold. Won't visit again unfortunately.

The curbside service was phenomenal! The food, however, was not what we expected from the prices paid. Brisket queso was advertised as being made with white cheese dip. It was made with yellow cheese. Country fried steak was NOT edible, tougher than leather, with the breading completely unattached and soggy. Onion bites were edible along with a nice bbq dip. The mashed potatoes tasted very old. And lastly, the Willie burger had two tiny strips of soggy, old chewy bacon. The restaurant has potential. GREAT potential. The kitchen however, needs a MAJOR overhaul.

The tables were dirty and it was like pulling teeth to get someone to clean them. We got assistance from a manager or bar tender and he decided to take our tickets and not fill only part of our drinks drink order. My son was pretty much done eating before he got his drink from the bar. Fried pickles were too salty. Mushrooms were good but burned my husband's lip. The did was nasty. Kelso sucked. Crappiest Service Took family to Celebrate birthday. Server took long to attend the table of 7 guest Food was not great. The food sucked, never have we been disappointed by both entrees. We tried the buffalo chicken sandwich and loaded chicken sandwich. Both tasted horrible, I mentioned it, and the waiting staff didn’t even bat eye. I asked them for a to go box even though we took only a bite each of our sandwiches, since we’re paying $40, my dogs should at least enjoy this trash, if they even eat it. And stay away from the brisket Mac and cheese balls. Biggest scam. More like mac and cheese balls with brisket flavoring. The front hostess/order taker was the friendliest and nicest. The margs were the only decent things being 6 out of 10 stars. Only reason they are even getting 1 star. Wish I could give 0.

Visited with family a couple of days ago. Ordered a strawberry pecan salad from the very sulky server on the till. As we were getting drinks, someone came out of the kitchen waving a piece of paper at said server, there was a discussion about strawberries while both gave me a death stare over the counter. I presumed they were out, but neither said anything so we went to find a table. Salad arrived in due course, containing ONE meagre strawberry cut into five pieces. Are you people for real? It’s on your menu, stock up on the ingredients! I could make a much better salad at home, and should have. Service run-of-the-mill, nothing pleasant, not worth tipping for (and some of the attire worn by the staff is enough to put you off your food). Won’t be back, app deleted.
