Joe's Place La Grange Reviews
Always have great food at Joe’s! Pizza was our food of choice tonight, Joe’s Favorite Pan!! Yum :) The ingredients are always fresh and very tasty! Thanks Joe, always a great meal!
BEST SALADS. PERIOD. I drive 25 minutes to get their salads. Family company, the girl who usually takes my order is the daughter of the owner. They’re amazing.
Recently popped in after a suggestion from a co-worker. Went in on a Sunday afternoon and it was not crowded at all. The attendant behind the register was very nice and interacted with my kid to keep him entertained. We ordered the Greek pizza and it was an experience. Nothing like I have ever had before. A ton of toppings and flavor. Price was pretty good, but for the amount of toppings that came on the pizza, I really can't complain. Place seemed pretty clean, bathrooms were clean too. Just one of the men's faucets didn't work (might just need a new battery in the sensor). A good experience!
Joe’s Place catered our daughter’s graduation party and everything was excellent! Our guests loved the menu and how fresh the food was. We received many compliments! Joe and staff were great to work with. I absolutely recommend Joe’s Place for all your catering and party food needs! It was great! :)
absolutely amazing food and very friendly service! The pizza is a must-get. I will have to find a time to get back soon!
This is a great local restaurant. The cod fish sandwich had a generous portion of fish. They serve draft beer. Good menu selection that is similar to Tommy's or Portillos. The atmosphere inside is retro and country with a ton of unique antiques
First time dining here and was very happy with our experience. The restaurant is definitely Chicago themed and the menu reflects that. Joe helped take our order and was very friendly and kind. The staff was thoughtful and kind as well. We ordered mostaccoli, salads, fettuccine alfredo and some starters. The pasta was excellent and everything was plated with care. Overall, the next time we are in Marengo I'll certainly go back to Joe's Place!

Great spot for a laid back family dinner, all sandwiches and salads came out fresh and hot. Nice selection of craft beers and plenty of seating. Staff were friendly and made great recommendations as it was our first time there. Will visit again when we are in the area
Honest review Clean. Nostalgic decor. Pizza puff undercooked. Gyro on the spit was good, but sad looking. Literally 5 slices of meat. Tzatziki was thick and not authentic but good enough. Polish was terrible. Onion rings were good enough if you like breading over battered. The fresh cut fries. AMAZING The bread pudding…homemade, great flavor, best I have had in a restaurant in a very long time. Only sad part is that it was ice cold in the middle but burn your face off hot on the outside. Which means it was probably nuked. Overall it was a good place to stop while on the road. I would revisit and try other menu options.
Food was delicious!!! It was a little noisy but that just means it's a busy and amazing place to be!!! Food was delicious they know how to make a good beef!!
First visit. 4-27-2025 I ordered the Polish. Asked if it could be done as a Chicago's Maxwell Street style. I was told yes. What was delivered was a Polish styled as a Chicago Style Hot Dog, "Dragged through the Garden" Perhaps it was my communication error? I did not complain. But the actual Polish sausage was disappointing. It was well over done. Semi dried out. Flavor of the meat was 6 out of 10. Probably made from a precooked kielbasa rather than a fresh sausage. Others in my group had other menu items that all looked much better than what I had. So I will try them again if in the area during meal time, but will not order the Polish.
This spot makes me feel home on the inside. The place reminds me of Chicago restaurant. Italian beef is nice and loaded packed but maybe for better bread. Pizza sauce is almost odd, but worth getting if you take the family

We have eaten here more than once and I usually leave happy. I’ve had a top three Italian beef here before and some incredible pizza! But I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich to go the other day 4/4/25 for the second time and was pretty disappointed. The sandwich tasted ok (a little dry and hard) but for almost $11 the tomato was bigger than the piece of chicken…. The fries seemed like they were mixed in with old ones that were stale, pretty sure they are made to order so maybe something happened? Regardless, for the price and the portion I was not very happy…. Like I said I’ve had incredible Italian beef’s here and very good pizza but this is the second time that I’ve had the grilled chicken sandwich and have been let down both times. Maybe this sandwich isn’t the go to? But I feel for the price it should be more.

The service was great; both people at the register were polite, patient, and friendly. I ordered a turkey sub; very bland. Just mayo, lettuce, and tomatoes, plus the chewiest bread I’ve ever had. I had to practically tear it apart to eat it. The atmosphere is nice; nothing outstanding, nothing terrible. I probably won’t be back; the food was lackluster and disappointing.

Joe's was okay, the food was good but the service was slow and not everything was correct but I'll do another visit could've been an off night
I used to like Joe's, but something has changed. As mentioned in another review, it's frustrating that the online menu prices don't match what they're actually charging. Also, I noticed the same as another that I was told $57 and was charged over $59. If they have a card fee, I understand but shouldn't they say something? And that amount was for: an order of fries, onion rings, burger, Italian beef and chicken fettuccine, which I get inflation, but it seemed too high. Food just was not great. My Italian beef had an underlying garlic flavor which is unusual. The fries tasted like the oil was way past needing to be changed. They didn't put cheese on the burger and forgot the side of au jus. Overall, just very disappointing all around. Will be taking our business elsewhere
I visited Joe’s Place on 12/14/24 for the very first time, as it was recommended to me. I ordered the soup and salad entree and a drink. It cost $18 and change. Very expensive! The minestrone soup was a huge disappointment! It didn’t look or taste like any minestrone soup I’ve ever had. It should have had some veggies, kidney and cannellini beans and small shaped pasta. Instead, it was a very strong tasting onion broth with canned tomato pieces and cabbage floating in it. I counted only 5 garbanzo beans. I’m suggesting they call it something else because it’s absolutely not Italian minestrone. I’m Italian so I know what’s supposed to be in it!
Quick review: Mixed review. Very expensive for what you’re getting. Pizza is decent. Beef and sausage combo is decent. Can be a bit wet and therefore impossible to pickup. Breaded chicken sandwich is at best mid tier - dry and lacking flavor. Would benefit from mayo due to dryness. Charging $7.50 for a fries and a drink combo when your menu board says $5.50 is lame. Update your menu boards otherwise it comes across as an unfair business practice. To put it bluntly: a fast food lunch of a sandwich, a drink, and some fries shouldn’t run $22+ per person.

Wow, what an experience (ongoing as I write this). The food was average according to those that got theirs. I still haven't received mine - a simple Italian beef. We called in an order for delivery and everything started out good. Food was delivered and still warm except they forgot the Italian beef. We called w/in minutes after discovering this and the idiocy begins. 3 calls and 90 minutes later, lots of promises/assurances but still no Italian beef yet.
We were driving for much of the day and were looking forward to taking a break and getting dinner here. I called ahead to order for dine in because they closed at 8:30, and it was about 7:50. Nikita's tone immediately changed from polite and cheerful to short and irritated when she asked if it was for pick up and I said dine-in. She said our dining room closes in half an hour. I said I know, that's why I'm calling to get a head start on the pizza; we're about 5 minutes away. So we arrive and she tells us that we can't dine in because the pizza is going to be another 10+ minutes. So we got to go sit in the vehicle that we were looking for a break from to try and eat pizza without getting it in the car. I worked in a restaurant for over 10 years. At no time could we, or would we turn customers away, even if they came in a minute before closing. We ordered 40 minutes before close, and just wanting to not eat in the car. Not something I think is unreasonable. If a restaurant closes at 8:30, they shouldn't start turning people away at 7:45. If the staff's expectation is that they walk out the door by 8:30, change closing time to 8.
I went there to just get a hot dog waited by the pick up window and I seen the cook out my hotdog in the microwave right below where u wait to pick up ur food. Took them about 20 mins to just to microwave it and get the order. If I wanted a microwaved hotdog for 6 dollars I'd just go and buy my own at the store and do that.
Ordered drive-thru. Ordered regular size starters. Get to the window and get told they only have baskets. Which is only like 9 onion rings. Update your website or tell the cashier to explain that to customers. Get told $14 something at speaker, then get to the window, and my card was charged $15. Like what? This is why I don't come here. Overpriced food which isn't that good. I won't be back

Shrink-flation. Prices online do not match in store. Ordered a large. And it was 14 inches. When the person in front me had a pizza twice the size. I felt a bit bamboozled. Thought I was getting at least 16-18 when has 14 ever been large. Very good pizza but I'd rather take a business loan and learn how to make real pizza with a straight forward menu, and throw these businesses to the wolves. Who has the best pizza in marnego I'm desperate for a quality place
