Les Miserable La Paz Reviews
We stumbled across this place while trying to escape the touristy area of the malecon. A woman was so welcoming and inviting we couldn’t pass up the experience. The mezcal tasting was so informative but the mole tamale was next level. So good! The area is filled with the coolest lil restaurants and shops.
This truly exceeded expectations! Our server Andrea, started our experience by walking us through our general flavor profiles so she could match different Mezcals for us to try. And then we were off on a great journey of discovery! It was great to taste the vast difference between different Mezcals and learn about various regions, etc. The vibe of this place is also super cool, hipster, and you should definitely sit outside. Hopefully you'll get to meet the house cat - Tarzan!
I went here on New Year’s Eve and had a great time! I sat at the bar and had a mezcal tasting. The bartender told me a lot about the different types and was very knowledgeable about the bottles. We had a great and it wasn’t too busy or crazy, reasonable volume for music too which was great for chatting.
Didn't want to go anywhere else on our trip. Great atmosphere. Food and drinks where always made with care.
We stopped by for drinks not expecting much more from a standard bar. Our server was very attentive and helpful in answering our questions. Her suggestions of Mezcal tastings were on point of what we were looking for. Their Mezcal selection is impressive to begin with. Plus the cocktails are delicious and interesting without being overly sweet. If you would like to sample mezcals with knowledgeable staff, this is the best place to go.
Wow wow wow! I cannot say enough about this wonderful spot! The service was fantastic and the waitress even took her time sharing her favorite mezcals with us. We felt like we had a private tasting. I think she shared they have over a hundred mezcal options. Food bites were also very tasty. Great vibes on the back patio. Highly recommend.
We basically lived at this bar during our trip. The best. Incredible fresh made juices to make mixed drinks—every single one on the menu is the bomb, insane mezcal options, Andrea is our new best friend and Saturday was POPPIN for the night scene. Best part of our trip—sad they are closed on Mondays 😭
This is where I got serious about Mezcal. I came here during the week when it was quiet. The extremely knowledgeable bilingual waiter asked me some probing questions about my taste profile preferences, and then I got a half-hour lesson in Mezcal. History, production processes, types of agave, geography... everything! Including a flight of 4 excellent Mezcals, it cost USD$25 with tip (in 2022). So VERY worth it. Now I make the pilgrimage to Oaxaca (the Mezcal epicenter, four trips so far, and there will be more!) and after carefully and confidently examining a list of 100 Mezcals, I will pick one based on production process, agave varietal, and even the village of origin. I have come a VERY long way, and I will always be grateful to La Miserable for getting me started on that journey. There are no gimmicks here, this is as close as you can get to an authentic Oaxacan Mezcaleria without buying a plane ticket. Prices are reasonable. They have (limited) food, but who cares, this is all about the Mezcal, they are not a restaurant and don't try to be one. Get there early because they are VERY popular and fill up quickly.
La Miserable is such a fun spot—honestly, one of our favorite stops in La Paz! We loved it so much that we went twice during our trip. It’s lively, vibrant, and just has the best energy. The first time, our group of four sat outside in the courtyard, which was so cute and had a great atmosphere. Their mezcal selection is incredible—everything from Espadín to Tobalá to Madrecuishe. We were so excited to see mezcal from one of our favorite places in Oaxaca on the menu! The server was super fun and kept the good vibes going the whole night. We ended up staying for two hours (and even canceled our dinner reservation) because we were having such a great time. The food was amazing—we shared tamales and chicharrón, which paired perfectly with the mezcal. The courtyard was buzzing, the music was awesome, and it was just such a fun scene. A few days later, we went back and sat inside, which was just as great. We ended up chatting with the table next to us and loved being able to try so many different mezcals while learning about each one. That’s what I love most about a good mezcalería—the chance to taste, learn, and truly enjoy the experience. La Miserable has everything: a killer mezcal selection, a welcoming vibe, and great food. If you’re in La Paz, you have to check it out. Can’t wait to go back one day!
Wonderful and hip spot, even if you don't love Mezcal. Reservations are recommended but not required. Lovely back patio. Food is not the draw here but the tamales are brought in fresh and are really good. If you don't know mezcal, ask for a flight. The service is top-notch, one of the reasons we came back. Our server Atila was amazing -- very knowledgeable, funny, engaging, and enthusiastic about the wide array of mezcals. If sipping straight mezcal is not your thing, the cocktails are also superb, inventive and delicious.
We are STOKED to have found this Mezcaliera! By far the best and most interesting variety of Mezcal I’ve had the joy of tasting through. The staff was very welcoming and their knowledge of Mezcal was a thing of beauty. They were super friendly and unpretentious while taking us on our tasting journey. Pro tip: sit at the bar
Delicious drinks, hip and fun crowd, great atmosphere and terrific service. Cocktails were delicious and bar staff took time to chat and explain Mezcal to us. Nice local crowd. Food looked good …
The place, food and drinks: 5 stars! Loved the place since I saw it walking around the street. Must visit! Highly recommended.

This is a must visit stop. Dozens of different Mezcals and knowlegable and bhelpful people to serve you. Sometimes free tastes. Nice patio with music sometimes. Free insect snacks. A winner.
Great atmosphere and staff was very helpful. One person had a medical emergency and the staff was super supportive and helpful.
