La Capilla Ladera Ranch Reviews
Great Mexican food...all very delicious with large portions to share or have at home. Chicken Fajitas are awesome. Great service here too
I've been eating here my entire life, the food is always great. Grandma loved the Chile relleno! The staff is great most of the employees are still the same from when I was a youngster. I love the shredded beef tacos and the fajitas skillet
Incredible food and service! Highly recommend stopping in for a great meal.
I am visiting from out of state & came here with a friend on her recommendation. What a wonderful experience. The service was great! I ordered the California Chicken & she ordered the grande tostada. She really liked her meal. I was a little disappointed in the flavor of my chicken, but the rest of the meal was amazing! The chips & salsa are to die for also!
Food is outstanding service. It's wonderful. Atmosphere is very warm and relaxing. You enjoy your Meal
I have been eating here for 15 years. It is a friendly place with nice people. The same people are here from 15 years ago. The food is very good and always consistent. The prices are very good for what you get. Check out their lunch specials. The best deals in town.
We’re regulars. Local and always good, we especially love the lemon cilantro chicken and the chili relenos. But honestly we’ve had just about everything on the menu and it’s all really good. Reasonable prices for the amount you get.
Dinner was great! All of the staff are superior in customer service. So friendly and so efficient. My water glass never got empty. Service was FAST. The food was delicious and was served quickly. Huge portions. I recommend this place!
This is our family's go to spot to have dinner. They gave authentic Mexican food with great service. Also there is outside seating which is a plus for families like ours who have about 10 people plus. They are quick and friendly here! Highly recommend
Wonderful service. Our bus boy was better than our server at serving us our food, getting refills, and checking on us. Good chips and salsa. Best part was the shrimp fajitas. Jumbo, tender shrimp served sizzling hot.
This place is awesome! The food is delicious and the drinks are too!! I had the shrimp wrapped in bacon and these things called Nachoritos. They are following Covid protocols so you'll be seated outside so bring a jacket. Sorry I didn't take pictures, the food was too good to wait!
Terrific Mexican food- had a delicious enchilada plate and the chips and salsa were also very tasty. Been looking for a place with great Mexican food in the area for years, and am happy to have discovered La Capilla! Bonus points for quicky returning my wallet to me after I had a brain lapse and left it behind.
This restaurant is so close to my house and we recently went there for the first time! Food is delicious and service is fast. I would definitely recommend it!
Great food and also great drinks service is great thank you Alex
My friend and I visited for hours and they were so nice. Never acted as though we should move along. 😊
Delicious! The best Chile Colorado around and the gentleman that brings the salsa keeps it coming, which is a big plus some places if you ask for more salsa they give you that uneventful look or they seem cheap about it, not La Capilla they keep the Salsa flowing! Good service and just all around a great restaurant. My wife and I will keep coming back here.
My family and I have been going there for years and we have never had a bad meal.. ever! Everything we have tried has been so delicious, and the staff is very attentive.
Best Nachos Ever! You definitely get your money's worth. It's good for two people maybe even three. I always end up taking some home. I love the enchilada plate as well. Excellent food and service.
It's been a few yrs since I ve been here, brought a friend and told him and we both agree this place is great. EVERYTHING is well worth it. Thanks
Update 7/13/25 Still my favorite restaurant EVER!! Best shreDded chicken I've ever had! Been coming here for almost 40 years. But I wanted to share just how kind and honest the staff are. I took my 93 year old grandma here yesterday (we go regularly) and she brought an envelope of cash to pay, but I didn't let her pay. She lost the envelope at the restaurant and didn't notice until after they closed. I called this morning, and they found it and kept it safe to return to her. I couldn't believe it! Thank you so much to all the staff. You are hands down AMAZING IN EVERY WAY! Consistently great food and service! Never had a bad experience. Update: I was back yesterday for my birthday. Still my absolute favorite Mexican restaurant. That's why they have been in business so long, and everyone I know, has their own special story about this place. Great food, great service, consistency and their drinks are worth more than the price. Friend and family favorite for 4 generations now. Fed a family of 4 with drinks and dessert for about $100 with leftovers to take home. Excellent value and quality all around.
Great food and margaritas! Chips and salsa are addictive! Especially if you ask for the flour tortilla chips (ask your server)... yummy! I love all the beautiful servers who always greet you and make you feel welcome. Prices are reasonable while their food is delicious! A real treat!
I've always loved La Capilla whether it's their Torrance, Huntington Beach or La Palma locations, everything I've tried over the past 25 years has been good. Their chips and salsa are addicting and my favorite entre is their arroyos con pollo. For happy hour, my go to is their chicken tacos and chicken flautas. I don't drink but people seem to love their margaritas, so they're probably really good too!
What a great surprise. Delicious food, great service ( we ordered and had our food within five minutes) and though prices are higher than I thought I would ever spend on Mexican food, the huge portions make it a great value. My wife got a burrito and I got the carnitas plate, we both took home half our food and will enjoy a second dinner today. Luckily we got there at 5 on Friday because by time we left at 5:30, people were waiting in line outside.
Really good Mexican food. Also a hefty and tasty margarita. I like the huevos rancheros a lot. Adding a note a year later: still the best place, great food, and now wanted to thank and appreciate the staff for being truly wonderful people and holding in their care an envelope of cash that was accidentally left at the table by a family member. I have to believe that the quality of the people plays a role in the quality of the food.
Amazing food, views, and service! Edgar and Cristian took care of us and were very accommodating for our table, which included a birthday gal.
My family and I were craving Mexican food and this place always hits the spot. It's been a while since we ate here and it didn't disappoint. Definitely will be coming back soon! Always great food and service. Both my son's love the food, which is a plus!
Dining here over40 yrs. Best flavor, generous portions, servers dedicated, kitchen amazing as we have never sent food back for a correction. Love love love. They have daily specials that save $3-4 dollars a plate. Go now!
I love what a calm environment this place has. The waiters and waitresses are so kind, respectful, and responsive. I love their food!Food portions are big and delicious! It is definitely worth the visit!
We celebrated Father's day and took my husband here for dinner. The staff greeted us and gave us a table indoors. The waiter was kind and brought our order out quickly. The food was delicious, we will be back!
great customer service great food
Deelishious! Waitress Alejandra(Alex)was wonderful! Old fashioned Mexican flavors that weren't confusing..and brought back mouthwatering memories!
First time here, ate outside, amazing selection menu, plus my chicken bar b Q salad was awesome. Loved the food so much returned 2 days later with my sister's. Waitress told she has been working here since 1999. Wow! Big tip for the lady. Will ad photos later.
Always a great comfort food Mexican meal. Very nice staff. Quick service and great prices. Good value, large portions... Thank you. We'll be back... 😋💖 Chicken Suiza's yummy...
My kids took me her for my birthday! I was so excited to see that that have a birthday menu. I ate free because it was my birthday and I ordered off the birthday menu. The food is amazing and the waiters and waitresses are very nice and helpful. This place has a great vibe.
My husband, mother in law and I come to La Capilla almost every week. It is our favorite Mexican restaurant!! All other food and service now pales in comparison. The servers and staff are friendly and so helpful and kind, and always ready to get what you need with a smile. The food is consistently good each time to top it off. We love la Capilla!!!
Consistently great food. Some of the best refried beans I've ever had. Lots of food. Always enough for a doggy bag to take home. Look for the daily special on chalkboard when entering.
Been going here for over 45 years and have always been GREAT food. Thank Jamie
LA Capilla is just the best! We were regulars for years, I now live out of town but it's on my list anytime I'm in town. Just go. You won't regret it.
I miss this place so much. It's been over 25 years since I've been here. I no longer live in CA, but La Capilla is the ONLY thing I miss about living there. I am glad to see this place is still there! ❤️
The food was SO good. We loved the chile con queso. Their salsa was good and spicy. The carne asada burrito was awesome too. Everything we got was so tasty and good portions too
Very delicious food and the service is Great!
Were on The city and. Found this mexican place. And stop to try it. Food was delicious. The carne asada. Was bomb
Finally came to this place after some friends repeatedly tell us about how much they love this place and have been coming here for decades. Was not disappointed. Fantastic food. Great service. Would definitely return. Enchiladas were fantastic as well as the beans. Rice was a bit meh for me. But everything else was fantastic.
Great Mexican food with even greater prices service is top Tier likes their drinks
Went here on Sunday for lunch (they open at 12pm) and grabbed the burrito especial with shredded beef plus a bowl of menudo. I’ve been here more than five times now, so that probably tells you something already. The food always tastes great, portions are solid, and the prices are super reasonable, so it won’t break your bank for a quick bite. The host is really nice, greeting you right away and taking your order with a smile. If you’re in the area and craving Mexican food, this little spot is a real gem in the neighborhood.
My daughter and I stopped in on our way to a concert. Short on time, we sat in their bar. Service was great, food was delicious.
A delightful retreat into a quiet Mexican corner with large, delicious portions of authentic food from Old Mexico. Even though the restaurant was busy, we got our meals right away, and our waitress came by numerous times to offer us more service.
Always a reliable spot for a good dinner and (according to my wife) a great margarita! I think they’ve gotten to the point where they know us now. I can just walk in separately from my wife (because I’m coming from work) and they just point in the direction where they’re seated 😂. Food is always hot and delicious. I always try to get something different. Almost every time, it’s been great, and the one time it wasn’t was just because I like mole made differently, but it wasn’t bad! Highly recommend, go here!
We have been eating here for over 30 years and the food consistently excellent. The carne asada burrito is the best. The fajitas are also amazing and the portions are good, you won't go home hungry. The chips and salsa are delicious. The parking is good, it can get full because of all the other restaurants and businesses there.
This Mexican restaurant is so delicious!! For beginners they bring out some chips and salsa and this is by far my favorite salsa I have ever tried! Once you try it you can't stop that salsa is so addictive, spicy and oh so delicious. I also love their Tortilla Soup it's flavorful with cheese and some vegetables...I like to order just a cup before my main entree arrives. I have ordered the shredded beef tacos and oh my goodness they are so good. I have also tried their chicken n beef enchiladas, wet red burritos and I have not been disappointed with any of them. I usually come here during lunch and I love that the Service is fast n friendly.
The food is good, let's start with that! The service is really good too, they really cater to customers & pay attention to details! They constantly brought extra water, chips, salsa, etc without asking. They were really polite & offered great suggestions. I've been here several times, the food & service is consistently good!
A great family restaurant! Quick service, great food, and friendly staff. It seems like there is never a wait, but they are always full! My only complaint is that the chips are very hard and thick instead of thin and crispy and their salsa is very chunky mildy medium.
Our family has been coming here for 15 years. Great people, great prices and good food. I have always ordered their cheese enchilada dinner. Lots of cheese! The owner is a great family man who takes time to talk to his customers.
Good food, staff very friendly.
Food was delicious except for the rice which had no flavor. I got the steak picado and the sauce was very tasty. Beans chips and salsa also delicious. Large portions. Restaurant interior was comfortable. They have the side blocked off for outdoor seating. Probably a remnant from covid restrictions. But it creates a dead end for the front parking area, and the rest of the parking lot was very busy. Not great for folks with mobility issues. But other than that it was enjoyable.
This place was great! Great drinks, great service and great atmosphere.! I had cheese enchiladas which were rich and covered in a luscious red sauce with a touch of cinnamon. Hubs had the Puerto Vallarta platter which had smoky jumbo bacon wrapped shrimp, so good. Also good was the Chile Relleno and Chile Colorado. The Chile Verde was underseasoned and had very little Verde sauce. Salsa was very good and the guacamoletoo! Overall, great experience!
Here the food is good, the service is good . It's just that Margarita for $8.50 or whatever ridiculously high price it was and half of it was ice, was kind of a bummer. They also don't have happy hour specials (at all). On a positive note though, they do give you a free meal on your birthday. That was nice.
Nice place. It's been around for decades which is a testament in itself. Good food and service.
As non-chain Mexican restaurants go, this place was, pedestrian. Not terrible but not really good and far from great. It was just ok. I’ve been here before and it’s been better. My wet burrito was not worthy of a post-eaten pic. Maybe next time. Try again, La Capilla.
They delivers a cozy and authentic dining experience, offering flavorful classics like enchiladas and sizzling fajitas, complemented by friendly service. Its warm ambiance and generous portions make it a go-to spot for both casual meals and festive gatherings.
This is one of our favorite places. It took me a few years of driving by before we actually stopped, and i am glad we did. It started with a great salsa. I love chips and salsa. Next we look at the menu....... So many of the traditional favorites available. Everything we have tried has been great so far. The Staff is always so friendly, attentive, and ready to help us any way they can. The quality of the food and staff are superior. I do wish the prices were around 20% less, but the quality is to notch.
I had the chicken avocado salad. It was delicious. The portion was hardy, and the flavor was savory. I wasn't crazy about their vinegrette dressing. It tasted too much of vinegar. Everyone at my table enjoyed their meal. We arrived just before closing time so everything was rushed but we'll go there again
Came here for late lunch during a work project in La Palma. Sat in bar and they turned tv to ESPN for me. Blended guacamole was really good. Had a hard shell chicken taco with rice and beans. Taco was good and the rice and beans were delicious as well. Prices are pretty fair and the customer service was really superb. I was one of the only people they're so can't say how it is when it gets crowded. Nevertheless looks like a nice little spot to enjoy lunch or a family dinner at an affordable price. I would have try it again if I was in the Palma.
The place is nicely decorated. Once I ordered the food was delivered really fast. The enchiladas were delicious. The rice was delicious.
Great food, many options on menu, atmosphere and lil outdated, but great. Has a small bar. Good parking options.
Great service. Chili con queso is the weirdest queso I’ve ever had. It was soo stringy that dipping your chip was impossible. Otherwise, food is flavorful and large portions. We all had enchiladas. The combo plates have a ton of food and the beef was the best meat. Brother’s beef taco was his favorite.
The restaurant was pretty busy when we got there but we luckily managed to get indoor seating. I like how nicely decorated the place is and the staff were fairly kind as well. As far as food goes, I really enjoyed the meat and portion sizes. I also loved that the food was loaded with cheese, though beware if you're lactose intolerant.
There must be a reason that this restaurant has been here so long and was so busy early on a Friday night. The food is a bit plain in presentation and interpretation BUT the tastes and amounts are there. This is a throw back to the place you would go to 30 years ago, especially with the family. The meats were well seasoned and in the prop amounts to show they are the main ingredient. While not a huge variety, enough to show they are making food, not some sort of statement. Where we sat was a little noisy for conversation so it had to be marked down for that. Also, when ordering I specifically asked for no ****. When it arrived.it was covered in them. When I sent my dish back it was returned to me after they plucked off the ingredient. (Though not the one's mixed in.) Not the best way to handle a screw up. Overall, I recommend trying it out fornth food and maybe asking for a.table in the back so you can discuss your meal.
Everything was great except they don't provide free meal for the birthday person 😏. For that go to the Torrance location. And they don't have Aguas frescas here boo lol
The service was good, the staff was very friendly. The restaurant has indoor or patio seating. The parking in front is limited. It is family friendly, we saw customers of all ages. We began my mom's bithday celebration by having bkfst there. She ordered a citrus margarita on the rocks. She loved it! We ordered menudo(no "pata" avail), machaca, chilaquiles, & chile relleno. The portions were huge, well prepared. Everyone was satisfied with their meal. A courtesy flan was brought to my mom n the staff sang happy birthday. It was a memorable meal. Business began to get busy by the time we were leaving, 1ish pm.
Great food, but most of Mexican restaurants do not forget that many people don't like the salsas too spicy, common, guys we couldn't enjoy the chips 🍟 the heat of the salsa was just way off. Please kindly make some salsa for the rest of us, mild at least.
As always the food is/was excellent however the service was not completely up to par on yesterday maybe because it was Cinco De Mayo and busy. At some point it was as if we were being ignored (one of the waitresses was going around taking pictures table to table and INTENTIONALLY IGNORED BYPASSED OUR TABLE my friend and I - we happen to be African American) so we ended up leaving before we finished dining. I've been there many many times and had never experienced that type of service before but for this the first time.
I really loved the wait staff but I can't believe how bad the food is. The chips were stale, the taco meat mediocre and probably reheated from frozen. I only got two tacos, lettuce meat and cheese only, all packaged quality. I really couldn't find one semi healthy choice on the menu. I'm really sorry to have to write this because it's a local spot. The saving grace, great salsa and again great staff.
I had the steak picado, and it was just okay. It's more like steak rancho with a brown sauce instead of a tomatoe red sauce, and the steak tasted like it was cooked by itself, then added to dish kind of lacking flavor. The wife had asada tacos alacart that were good. But it is hard to mess up asada.
It was okay. Had a taco salad and had too much liquid in it so everything got soggy fast. Was very large so didnt need the whole thing anyways. Only bottle beer is odd to no draft?
Worst dine in experience. We arrived and were seated promptly. The helper brought over salsa and chips and that was it, for 30 minutes we sat there. Everyone would pass us bye celebrating birthdays numerous times. No one came to take our order, see if we needed drinks, nothing. It was clearly we hadn't ordered. It wasn't that busy either. We finally had to wave down the guy cleaning the tables to get a waitress. Then she brings us guacamole we didn't order. She says just keep it and I won't charge you. Guess what, it was on the bill when it came. This was totally unacceptable.
This restaurant was good pre-covid. I got take out. Oh my goodness!! Never again for take out. I ordered shrimp and chicken fajitas to go. It's best to eat that dish as a dine on item. Horrible for take out!! The presentation was awful and the vegetables were awful. The beans and rice were good to take out, but don't order the fajitas to go.
Stopped here for a couple of margaritas and kind of wish we hadn't, the service was fine, very catering and friendly and the drinks were ok, but seemed to be very heavily salted and I like salt. Can't comment on the food as we didn't eat here, but the whole place just seemed a little run down and outdated, which was a shame as it has potential.
Have passed by this place so many times and finally tried it. Unfortunately the food was bland, the salsa had so much onions, it looked like what was left at the bottom of a barrel. When I asked for fresh salsa, he brought me what looked like the same thing but added water that made it worse. It's so sad this place looks busy consistently and I don't see how. I see other reviews and am surprised. I know they don't need my money to survive but I won't be returning. Hope they can add some bullion to the rice or something.
I don't know if it's solely this La Capilla location or what but the food had no flavor whatsoever. The french fries were limp and tasted like pre frozen Ore Ida fries without salt. The most flavorful thing there was the chips and salsa.
I did not enjoy the tostado salad I ordered. The lettuce was shredded iceberg lettuce, which has no nutritional value. The chicken was rubbery to chew, and had all the tendons and ligaments attached. I guess a lot of people like this kind of food, the place was really busy! But if you are into healthy eating, you'll have a hard time finding something to eat. The portions are large, so if you like a lot of food, you might enjoy this place. The servers were very good. 5 stars for them!!!
Unfortunately, thus place fell way short of my expectations. First off the place is very run down, old, dirty and not good. Their waiters are especially very rude, sarcastic, and poor overall service. Food was the worst Mexican food I have ever had. No flavor, poor Taste, appearance looked like baby poop, and the male waiter brought me a wrong order. Over priced for the quality of food that you get. Go elsewhere save your money thus is definitely not worth it.
They served us overcooked chips that almost tasted stale. Then my meal came and it wasn't good at all. I didn't eat hardly any of it and when I asked Jorge the waiter if I could either speak with a manager or if it could be taken off the bill which I never do he basically was short and walked away and handed me the bill with both plates on it. When I called back and spoke with a manager and explained the situation that I basically just looking for a little bit of customer service they told me there was nothing I could do. We did pay for our bill and will never be a repeat customer there again. Pretty said when do you think that you're going for some good Mexican food and you have to eat overcooked chips in order to get full.
Charged me $6 for salsa. That is a deal breaker. Had enjoyed this establishment for a minute, that's gone. $6 for salsa??? Lol
