Maro Wood Grill Laguna Beach Reviews
Where the locals go! I feel like I was dining at a fine dining restaurant in a laid-back environment. Perfect for a date night, birthdays, dinner in Laguna, or grabbing dinner and drinks with friends. They have live music every Saturday night! I’ve had the hamburger, the steak, the beef, ravioli, and some of the desserts, all have been great.
Must try while visiting Laguna Beach! My favorite were the octopus salad and the beef burger. Always love visiting Deya and Hristo, cant wait being back!
I had the pleasure of dining at Maro Wood Grill recently, and I can't recommend it enough. I ordered the 8oz Wagyu steak, and it was absolutely phenomenal — cooked to perfection with a beautiful char from their wood-fired grill that gave it a unique, smoky flavor. Every bite was rich, tender, and full of depth. You could really tell they use top-quality ingredients and take pride in their craft. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the service was attentive without being overbearing. Maro Wood Grill delivered an experience that felt both upscale and relaxed. I’ll definitely be coming back — next time with even more friends to share it with!
This was so delicious it’s hard to put into words. The place looked small from the outside yet elegant. We got a chance to sit inside and watch the magic happen. Every plate that passed by made our mouths water. We are new to Laguna and so far it is the best tasting food we have tried. You may even get lucky to witness italian humor amongst the cook and the servers 😂. The food was cooled to perfection and every bite was tender. I had to tell my self to eat slower just so it lasts longer. Impressed !!!
Excellent food and a fantastic staff! The meat was cooked to perfection. The wine flowed freely and was top notch. Be sure to get the grilled artichoke. I had smoked Panacotta for dessert with a tawny port. When one of our dinner mates left for the restroom we let the staff know we'd be back and did a table ditch on him. The server played along and presented him the bill. Juvenile but I did mention that the wine flowed freely. Great food in a great atmosphere.
Delicious veal Milanese, laid back ambience with a swanky vibe, and a beautiful location on the coast. The staff were very kind, knowledgeable, and professional.
It was a great meal! I had the Veal Chop Milanse, and it was very tender. The other person in my party had Branzino! A great meal overall!
The food was excellent and came out quickly! Parking in the area is a challenge! But the food and atmosphere is worth it!

Weekday early light lunch, like right around noon- even though it was summer, we were the only ones there. Lovely atmosphere on the little patio. I'm a sucker for wood grilled food, and the light fare we ordered did not disappoint. Would love to go back for a steak someday and check out the nighttime atmosphere..
Food tastes great, all natural, dare I say healthy; It’s so good I have to remind myself to eat slowly. Friendly service and chill vibes.
Absolutely amazing burger, salad and ambiance! The best burger in OC! Thanks for the amazing experience. The service was fantastic.
I celebrated my birthday here and it was such a memorable dinner. The skirt steak was chef’s kiss! perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Shout out to Alex and the chef for making my birthday feel special. The beef empanada was delicious, and my birthday dessert, the espresso panna cotta, was so yummy. Wonderful food and a great experience. I’ll definitely be coming back!
My husband and I were in town and saw the "No Seed Oil" sign out front and decided to give this place a try as our last dinner of the trip. Outstanding meal - fresh, delicious, no feeling of bloat after. And we ate a lot. Loved the grilled artichoke and beef and chicken empanadas. The flavor was incredible. My husband had the Beef Ravioli Bolognese and I had the Tomato Basil Spaghetti and both were fantastic - our plates were polished. We both got gelato but we probably could have split one - both delicious. The lemon sorbet would be amazing on a hot day. The owner Alex was attentive and friendly - truly cared about the product he provides to his clients. Definitely recommending this place to friends!
The best restaurant in Laguna Beach! The food is so delicious the meat is grass fed and also there are a lot of organic options in the menu! I love that they don’t use seeds oil and prepare their food with olive oil!
100% Organic. No seed oils. The food was delicious. Amazing flavor. Wood fired to perfection. I had the rib eye and artichoke. The potatoes and vegetables delightful.
Small business, good food, empanadas are popular, hamburgers are great, overall can’t choose wrong depending on what you’re in the mood for

My wife and I were driving down PCH and the smell of the mesquite fired grill had us turning around and walking inside for the first time. We are so glad we did! One of our favorite meals in a long time. Alex took our order, and served up the the best grilled shishito peppers, ever. The grilled artichokes were fantastic! The hanger steak tagliata was expertly grilled, sliced, served with a tasty chimichurri, over arugula, cherry tomatoes, shaved parmesan, and the best roasted potatoes I can remember having. Hands down my new favorite restaurant in all of Orange County! We cant wait to go back.
We really enjoyed our dinner, and appreciated the staff to make available the mixed vegetables plate that was no longer on the menu. It was very beautifully arranged and served. (See picture) The Octopus in the Octopus salad were cut into very small pieces, I’d love to have larger chunks. Overall it was just ok. Tips: at least on a not so busy Tuesday night, the food came out very slowly, especially the skirt steak. They are served on Laguna/Argentine time! Do not go if you’re in a rush.
I went in the afternoon. Restaurant was pretty much empty, just another couple who arrived after me. I wanted to try their burger. Seemed like only one person was working there who was both waiter and the cook. Perhaps he's the owner? Anyways, the burger was really simple. It did taste pretty good though because of the wood fire grill. The meat quality seemed good too. Got a very very small portion of roasted potatoes with the burger like 7-8 pieces. Ok whatever I came for the burger. While I did enjoy and like the burger, I left still feeling hungry as the portion was small Is it worth the price? Perhaps not or maybe it is, that's a personal choice Will I come back? Likely yes, to try their steaks. I'm a fan of Argentinian steaks

The restaurant and bar were at capacity. It was cold and breezy, so they weren't serving on the patio. There was one waiter, one bartender, and two cooks. They were doing the best they could. However, that meant a long wait to get food and drinks. We were visiting with relatives, so we weren't in a hurry. We ordered some appetizers and some wine. When the appetizers came, we ordered our entrees. It took more than an hour to get the entrees. The appetizers were good, especially the grilled edamame and grilled green beans. The sweet mini peppers we're also very tasty. I was disappointed in the beef empanadas. They were small and filled with beef not the picadillo that I'm used to getting in a beef empanada. The evening stretched on and we finished our first bottle of wine, we ordered a second one. Our entrees arrived. They included rack of lamb, Maro Burger, ribeye center-cut steaks, and tenderloin medallions. All were good, but none were very impressive. We elected not to get coffee or dessert because by then we'd been there at least 3 hours. I'm sure it wasn't the best night for Maro Grill, they probably do better with more staff. However, I'm not sure whether I'll return.

We stopped by Maro Wood Grill hoping to try their empanadas, but unfortunately, they were a huge letdown. The two pieces we got were tiny, greasy, and seemed like heated-up frozen pastry - definitely not what we saw in the pictures. The empty restaurant and the unhappy look on the order-taker's face made sense 😕. Won't be recommending or returning.

I asked for my steak to be well done. I don’t know if it was the owner himself who took my order or what but I definitely said well done. He said okay. Brought it to me and it was semi-cold and not done. It was dark in the restaurant so I couldn’t really see how “not done” it was. For what it’s worth; The flavor was really good for the rest of the meal and I complimented that part, but when I let them know that I asked for “well done” and that my food came out cold; they only offered to take my plate of food back to put it back on the grill. To me that’s unacceptable as I don’t like having my food taken back to the back so I opted out. I still paid for my meal; but I won’t ever eat there again. Also they write the receipt out and add mandatory gratuity and to me my food did not compliment me adding gratuity. I was forced to pay it anyway. When places do things like this and get a way with it by still charging mandatory tips; that sets a standard for other places to know they can get away with just giving customers what they want with out consequences. I did voice that my food was cold and not done but they didn’t care.
I was very disappointed to witness the restaurant owner treating a delivery driver in a rude and humiliating manner. This kind of behavior reflects poorly on the business. Respect and professionalism should be basic standards in any establishment.
