Sunny Dumpling House Lake Forest Reviews
Very yummy! Supposedly more busy at dinner than lunch. Can order at the counter or via QR code at the table or they can take your order at the table. Need to have a table to order. Ample parking in the center. Ordered pork dumpling, soup dumplings, Dan Dan noodles. Cucumber, green beans, thin onion pancake. All excellent.
Great dim sum in the area!! Dan dan noodles, and spicy wontons were delicious. Soup dumplings were also fresh and tasty! If you are looking for something to satisfy your DTF craving without breaking the bank, this is the spot to go. Definitely will be returning!
This is a great restaurant to enjoy dumplings and noodle soup etc. the taste was great for certain items to my opinion. You have to try and see which ones may stimulate your taste buds to enjoy.
First time visiting since the new owner took over — the quality of the xiaolongbao is surprisingly good, and the prices are much more affordable than Din Tai Fung! I’ll definitely be coming back often! 😃
Very good food. The soup dumplings and, generally, everything was tasty. I didn’t really like the system for ordering food off of your phone and paying from your phone, but the food was great. There can sometimes be a wait. I do like the pork dumplings better than the XLB. Do NOT order the beef stew noodles. They were terrible.
The food is very authentic and delicious. I come here all the time to eat and always get a bag of frozen ones to take back and cook at home. The xiaolongbao is MUCH better than dtf or wherever else (maybe unless you're white people. The only thing is once I came by myself and ordered enough for 2-3 portions because I was planning on taking home my leftovers for dinner or the next day, and one of the guys said "For one person?" when I was done ordering. I'm not sure what that meant, but I said yes and moved on. The food was still delicious as ever ;)
I stumbled upon this spot as I was restlessly looking for a Chinese food restaurant. The fact that Chinese characters are in the actual name of this establishment gave me encouragement to try it out. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint. I may have over ordered but that's not regrettable. I ordered a hot and sour soup, pork XLB, pork and shrimp pan fried dumplings, green beans and beef chow mein. Super convenient with QR code to toasttab, sharing the same tab with anyone who scans the same code and placing an order digitally without the card-receipt-signing dance. H&S soup was perfectly vinegared but could have used a tad bit more white pepper or chilies. Still hit the spot and was enough to serve 4-6. Pork XLB was delightfully textured. The wrapping was strong to withstand a few rollovers but thin enough to not be overpowering in chew. Perhaps this is regional flavor, but I found the pork to be slightly sweeter than I am used to but nonetheless pleasant with dark vinegar. Only thing missing is fresh ginger accoutrement (but again, might be a regional style of flavor profile). The shrimp and pork pan fried dumplings surprised me, in a good way. The crisp is well balanced with the chewiness of the skin and there quite a bit of juice with each bite (like an XLB!). My only wish is that they provided a pork and chive version, too. Green beans were cooked with a lot of wok heat but lacked the fermented root radish flavor that I'm used to (another regional style difference perhaps?). But the texture was perfect in that it still had a snap and not overly dressed with chili oil. The beef chow mein was my partner's choice and I didn't give it a try. However, he enjoyed most of it sharing that it had a good balance of Vegetable to meet ratio. Overall, will definitely come back for staples, and give the Dan Dan Mein a try!
Now if you’re coming here thinking it’s going to be a boujee dumpling spot made for the Gram, you will be shook. This is how I think of a Chinese restaurant. No beer, no booze, disposable plates, plastic cups, and delicious food. You order online and there are no servers. It’s pretty bare bones but they are doing this to turn over the tables. But the prices are cheap and it has some of the best dumplings I’ve had. I would go out of my way to come back but I wouldn’t wait in a line. Hint, go early, you’ll be at the front of the line at the open.
They're so amazingly consistent in both orders accuracy and quality. This place never misses. Easily one of my favorite dumpling houses in the world! Comes very close to Xiao Long Bao I've had in Shanghai.
I love this find! I was craving dumplings and did not want to deal with the long wait at DTF and Paradise. This place is definitely good, but I would still rate lower than the other two mentioned. I would say the best things I had here were their pan fried dumplings and Dan Dan noodles. The spicy wonton was not spicy, but potentially can use a little more vinegar. The Xiao long bao is decent but cannot compete with DTF as it was not as juicy as I would like. The flavor profile tastes just like home, and I enjoyed it! The cucumber garlic, although something simple, and most places taste the same, but it was perfect here, just the right enough amount of flavor, and fresh cucumbers. The potato salad is not like the Sichuan numbing spice that I am used to, and this particular batch was a tad too salty, and hopefully it was just that batch! I will definitely still be coming back and eating here, it is good, hits the spot, and easier to park!
This place is LEGIT. Incredible environment, amazing food, and great service. We sat down starving, ready to throw down… ordered a feast and within 5 minutes everything started coming out. Soup dumplings, noodles, we tried it all. Delicious and can’t wait to come back. Nice job, Fam! 🤘🏼👨🏼🦰
I love this place! I’ve never had a bad dish. Staff are friendly and I enjoy watching the ladies making the dumplings while waiting on our food.
They are a small, local chain with 3 or 4 locations scattered around southern California. It's more of that "family-owned Chinatown dumpling shop" feel, rather than a Din Tai Fung setup. This is a perfect addition to Lake Forest and I hope to see some more of these dumpling shops around Orange County. My recommendations: - Your choice of XLB - Your choice of Chow Mein or Dan Dan noodles (if you like spice) - Pan Fried Pork Dumplings (my favorite) - Pork and Vegetable Spicy Wonton - Garlic & Chili String Beans Ordering is done at your table by scanning the QR code on the table surface. Then you proceed to selecting menu items via Toast Tab on your mobile browser, and then completing the checkout to place your order. The secrets out on this place, so write your name on the waitlist and expect to wait a bit during prime dining hours. This place is worth the wait.

Very tasty bowl of beef noodles. I noticed they also sell frozen dumplings. I was surprised to find this gem outside of Irvine, but Lake Forest is right next door after all.
I love this place! I’ve never had a bad dish. Staff are friendly and I enjoy watching the ladies making the dumplings while waiting on our food.
Who would have thought that we have a great dumpling place in Lake Forest? Sunny's is a no frills place that provides excellent service and tasty food. Have been here 3 times and never been disappointed. Their Xiao Long Bao is juicy and the pan fried dumplings are hot and crispy. Beef noodle soup is great on a cold winter day. .
What a find! Just tried this place for the first time. We loved it! Authentic food, great flavors. The onion pancake is done differently here, really good. Yummy dumplings.Beef noodle soup to die for. We ordered a variety of dishes to try, would reorder all of them. Prices are also very fair. Wouldn't expect to find such a great place in Lake Forest! We will be back soon.
Friends and I ate here today and though I have been here a few times before over the last couple years, today was probably the best. Flavors have definitely improved, and I appreciate familiar side dishes on the menu like the cucumber garlic salad and green beans. Simple but flavorful. Everything came out hot and super fresh, and we all enjoyed the xi long bao, spicy wontons and fried dumplings.
Superb xiaolongbao. Loved their string beans and Dan Dan noodles too. The wait time can get pretty high so come at a good time! Would recommend giving this place a shot.
The dumplings here are fantastic, and I especially love the fried dumplings (pot stickers)! I also love the sticky rice cakes 年糕 and the dan dan noodles 担担面 is really good, too! Fast and friendly service! But beware -- they take a mid-day break around 2:30-4:30...
Blows DTF out of the water when it comes to XLB IMO. All the dumplings really are awesome no matter the style you like. Beef noodle soup slaps, along with the Dan Dan noodles. Chow mein and fried rice ditto. So come in and literally try everything. Amazing value, great service, absolutely delicious. The line gets a little crazy but moves along relatively quickly. So glad I live so close to Sunny Dumpling, it's a staple for sure. Go now and try it out, you'll be back, trust me.
Absolutely delicious and made fresh to order. You sit at your table, place your orders on your phone check out and done!
Fantastic hidden treasure. Located in the corner of a strip mall you will find authentic handmade dumplings! Fresh to order. Large, full and delicious! Chow mein and fried rice are also fantastic! Casual and easy. Oh and all dumplings can be purchased in frozen packs to take home too!
Easy to order, delicious food that was hot and fresh. Was super busy but we were lucky to get a seat, we will be going back! Dumpings were fire 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Seriously, this is the best dim sum place around. I'm going to say even better than Din Tai Fung! Yes, I said it! LOL. Sunny dumpling has great quality food, everything is made fresh, and for such a great price. The inside is nothing fancy, but it is always very clean. And the employees are very nice. Such a great place to go. We frequent it often. When you sit down you scan the QR code that's on your table on your phone and that's how you place your order. And you keep your tab open in case you want to order more food as you are eating. And then when you're done you just pay on your phone and leave. So nice and easy! Check for hours. I believe on Saturday and Sunday they are open all day with no closing in between. I think Monday through Friday they close between lunch and dinner. Between 2:00 to 4:30. And I think everyday they are open till 8:00. They are closed on Mondays.
Eeek this place is SOO YUMMYYYY IM DROOLING. this is the perfect comfort food/for a rainy day. Got here around 5 on a Wednesday night and by 5:30 the place was filled and there was a wait! The xiao long bao was so amazing. The juice inside was perfect. I am still dreaming about them. Everything was perfect. 🥟🍜The dumplings look so cool with its little spider web design. You do order on your phone 📱 and pay on your phone so this is new. You don’t even have to interact with anyone. It’s kid of weird haha. Modern day I guess. You can see the chefs working on making the dumplings through their little clear divider. And their savory moon cakes are so so good. They are very expensive but worth trying one!! 🤤🤤🤤
We came here as a group of five and were treated to lovely service and even better food. The staff were polite despite a slight language barrier and the food came promptly. We ordered xiao long bao, pan fried pork dumplings, boiled pork and chive dumplings, scallion pancakes, steamed salty egg rice dumping, and garlic string beans and broccoli. Every dumpling was fresh, juicy, and delicious. The vegetables were absolutely gorgeous and the green onion pancakes were crispy and light. As an added bonus, we accidentally left a backpack there and the staff were nice enough to keep it there a bit past close for us to pick it back up again! Definitely stop by if you like dumplings and great people!
Supper yummy and authentic! There is no need to go to Irvine to look for authentic dumplings 😋. They made it fresh, and you can see the lady who made the order right on the spot! Definitely will be back for more.
Food is great. You order on your phone and they only take cards for payment. You do that on your phone also. Our go too's are pork soup dumplings, green beans, bok choy, and hot and sour soup. They've got much more. Get there early. Anytime after 7, you might not get a seat!!
Great food. My friend and I knew it was going to be a delicious Chinese experience because the place was crowded. One table left. We had help from the waiter to order, and we enjoyed everything. We were surprised at how inexpensive it was and said we'd be back soon.
The food is delicious, fresh, and full of flavor. I highly recommend it to anyone craving authentic and tasty dumplings!
Legit Chinese dumplings. Best I’ve tried so far in OC, and I’ve had many many dumplings in mainland China. Their Xiao Long Bao steamed dumplings are amazing. Quality food and meats and a clean environment, great service. You can order and pay on your phone which is convenient. I had two plates of dumplings for about $25 so not the cheapest lunch spot but so good!!!
The dumplings are Phenomenal. Without a doubt, the best dumplings I've had. And I've been to places in New York and San Francisco which fail to deliver such satisfying dumplings. Even though this is a dumpling house, do not let this discourage you from bringing a vegetarian friend to this restaurant. I had the Garlic Broccoli which was almost as good as the dumplings but far more healthy. Broccoli is great at soaking vinegar and other sauces. Definitely recommended above P.F. Chang's!
Very good food at decent prices. Service is great. Environment feels a little cramped but it's super easy to order and pay via phone.
Our first time at Sunny’s Dumpling House. What an amazing experience, reaching them make each and every dumpling by hand. This made us enjoy the dumplings even more. We had them suggest some of the favorites and they didn’t disappoint. Try Sunny’s, we will be back, so much more to try!
Wow. I rarely leave reviews but I had too for this business. The food is THAT good. Better than DTF! Highly recommend!
Sunny's Dumplings is a hidden gem serving up amazing dumplings. My favorite are the spicy ones, so good! Newly remodeled as well! If you love dumplings, you won't be disappointed!
10/5 for this place. The food was worth coming back for. Line was long the first day and now I truly see why, the dumplings are amazing. I tried 3 kinds steamed and pan fried pork and pork and shrimp wontons. Pan fried was the best one to me, I ate two orders. I think 10-12 per order. Everything was really tasty. Now I recommend getting there early. I got there at 1040 and there was about 5 people in line at that time. The food is worth even getting there later and the wait inline. A must try in my book. Kid friendly family environment or great for a date night.
*edit #2* 6/2025 Back to 5 stars Went back a few more times since 11/2024 and they are back. No more weird after taste. *edit* 11/2024 4 Stars The meat taste has changed drastically since the remodel. I have been 3 or 4 times since and each time I have noticed the weird after taste in the filling. I can no longer give the place the glowing review I did initially. I no longer feel it is on par with Din Tai Fung. Hopefully they see this and change the recipe back. *Original review* 5 stars When you see people on Yelp complaining about service and rave about the food, you know the place is authentic. I would say this is the best soup dumpling place in the area. I normally drive to Din Tai Fung, wait the 1.5 hr, pay the south coast upcharge. Now I can eat it whenever I want without wasting 2 hrs. Also their wonton comes with freeze dried shrimp. The little details like this makes it authentic.
The broccoli was amazing. Best spicy pork shrimp wontons. Chili sauce is really good as well.
This place gets a five stars as they have the best Chinese food south of Irvine. Yet while they excel at the quality of food, they stumble on most everything else. First know that their portions are small. They are not quite tapas, but it is often 2 orders per adult to leave full. Second, at least I get the impression they want to focus on takeout. The dinning room is bare bones, feeling more like counter service. That would be fine except the bills request tipping. I guess that while ordering, which needs to be done via their website, they will bring out the food to you and that qualifies as table service. They do also clean up tables and now serve the food on a dish, a step up from the paper plates before. The staff is nice but will avoid you as much as possible. I think they are insecure about their English but I have no trouble speaking with them when I can get them to talk Lastly know they close early at 8pm and stop taking customers 20mins before then.
Absolute treasure in an unassuming spot. The dumplings and XLB are delicious and they even offer frozen ones to cook at home (for dumplings boil at medium temperature until they all float, add a few cups of cold water, then wait for it to come to boil again). I took a group here and we were seated immediately. You order off of a QR code but the food comes quickly and everything evaporated off of the plates so it was hard to give detailed reviews. My favorite are the pork and chive dumplings. 5/5. Pork and shrimp XLB were amazing, another 5/5. We had to ask for ginger and spoons though. The service is great when you ask for it, but just like any other Asian restaurant, they'll leave you alone unless you ask for their attention. Wood ear mushrooms were in a very light and tangy sauce. Also vanished very quickly. 5/5. Someone ordered the scallion pancake. This one came interestingly chopped, which really highlighted its shatteringly crisp texture. This one blew me away 11/10. Someone ordered a kind of sliced and spiced potato. Had the perfect hint of mala. 5/5.
So efficient. Pictures on the menu, scan QR code and order / pay. So easy, simple and fast. This is how restaurants should be operating in 2025
Very solid dumplings. Went around Saturday for lunch, wait was about 30 minutes, but we thought it was worth the wait. We enjoyed the soup dumplings and pan fried dumplings, but think we would pass on the spicy wontons next time. will be back to visit. It's a smaller restaurant so I think the wait may be longer if you have a larger group but the servers turn around tables quickly. only downside is i don't believe there was a restroom for customers
Authentic! The quality is very high and the price is suprisingly reasonable. They also have frozen bags to go with the best instruction how to cook at home. Ordering and payment is very easy, you can do all on your phone.
This place has some of the best dim sum in SoCal! My friend and I came about an hour before closing, but we thought we only had a half hour due to Google Maps and Yelp incorrectly reporting the closing time as 8:00 pm instead of 8:30 pm. We were happy about the extra time, and despite there being a few larger parties ahead of us on the waitlist, we managed to get a table, and I’m so glad we did. Everything we ordered was delicious! The standout item to me, however, was the scallion pancake, which my friend suggested getting. I don’t typically order a scallion pancake when getting dim sum because most restaurants make them too thick and doughy for my liking. Not here. The scallion pancake at Sunny Dumpling House was perfectly thin, crispy, and savoury, which left me wanting more. Definitely want to come back to this place next time I’m in town!
Bathroom key hard to figure out, fantastic food though. 9.75/10 would come again
We love this place! Their dumplings are made right in front of you so you know it is fresh! We tried the green beans last time and they were sooo good. Another favorite are the spicy dumplings. They are super flavorful without killing you. You can add more chili sauce to kick up the spice level.
This place is great. Also convenient for people in south Orange County looking for great Chinese food without having to drive north to Irvine. It's worth a visit if your passing by, and also good enough to make a trip here just to try their excellent dumplings. Stick to the dumpling dishes, which are their specialty, and avoid things like the noodles and sides. I found that for the water dumplings, the pork with cabbage tastes better than the plain pork dumplings, and for soup dumplings, the shrimp with pork tastes better than the plain pork as well.
Great food! It was very busy with a long line so don’t go and expect fast service. They are worked hard and were very courteous and helpful. People don’t go there for the ambiance. It is super casual if you dine in. There was a long wait so we decided to make our order To Go. Note if they are busy your To Go order could take 30 to 45 minutes to cook depending on what items you order. So ask for an ETA so you have a realistic expectation. Tonight our order was going to take 40 minutes so went two blocks away and had a beer at the bar “Bigshots” and came back. Perfect timing! Enjoy!
Really good/juicy pan fried dumplings and their green onion pancake is crispy and flavorful. Really enjoy the food here, service is fast too.
We came here for brunch around 11:30 on Saturday and there was a line waiting outside. You have to sign your name in the waiting list. Fortunately the wait wasn't too bad - only 10-15 min. The menu is viewable by scanning the QR code and you pay via credit card through the app so make sure you bring a phone with good mobile data. We ordered the scallion pancakes, xiao long bao, seaweed salad, sweet and sour cabbage, and small wonton soup. The scallion pancakes were crispy but it was fried in lots of oil, so don't recommend it if you're on a diet. The Xiao Long Bao was good and juicy. Overall it was a good experience and I would visit again if I was in the area.
🥟🍜 If you're a fan of authentic Chinese dumplings and mouthwatering dishes, this hidden gem in Lake Forest is an absolute must-visit! 😍 👐 Picture this: skilled ladies expertly handcrafting fresh dumplings right before your eyes. These are some of the best you've ever tasted, and the lack of bells and whistles only adds to the charm. 😌 🍲 Now, let's talk about the beef stew noodle soup – an explosion of flavor in every spoonful. The best part? You're in control of the spice level. 🔥 💧 And those Pork XLB (Xiao Long Bao) dumplings? Filled with liquid soup that's downright heavenly! Trust me, you can't stop at just one. 😋 📲 And here's the modern twist – you can place your order seamlessly with a QR code and order online. Convenience meets authenticity at its finest! 📱 Don't let the unassuming exterior fool you; this place is a culinary treasure waiting to be discovered.
Green onion pancakes are amazing. Thin and crispy, best I've ever had! Everything here is REALLY good. Soup dumplings (xiao long bao) are not as soupy as other places, but still really good. Only negative is there aren't a lot of tables, so there's a wait during busy times. Service is great, and the Toast ordering system is brilliant.
If you want delicious xlb without the Din Tai Fung prices, this is the spot for you. Sunny's Dumpling House provides delicious food, friendly service, and a comfortable atmosphere. I also enjoyed being able to watch the staff fold dumplings behind a glass window. If you find in you could order and pay using the linked QR code taped to the table or you can flag down a waiter if that's not your thing. Great place, would recommend!
food comes fast, tastes incredible! dumplings were so juicy, the sauteed string beans are fabulous.
Authentic and delicious. The flavors were on point. We had the steamed xiaolongbao, pork and leek boiled dumplings and the spicy pork and vegetable wontons. Delish! Agree with the other reviews that this gives DTF a run for their money…but no wait and less money. We will be back
Delicious food! Great staff. The dumplings come out quick and are amazing. Really fun wall art and stories to read about the origins of the dumpling types they serve. Delicious, will come again.
Sure! Here’s a neutral-positive review for Sunny Dumpling House in Lake Forest, California, that includes praise while noting room for improvement in service: ⸻ The food at Sunny Dumpling House is flavorful and satisfying—especially the dumplings, which are clearly handmade and full of juicy, well-seasoned filling. The variety on the menu is great for anyone craving authentic Chinese comfort food. The ambiance is casual and clean, making it a solid spot for a quick bite or takeout. However, the service could use some improvement. Staff seemed a bit rushed and it took longer than expected to get our order. With a bit more focus on hospitality and attentiveness, this place could easily become a local favorite. Still worth a visit for the food alone!
This place is amazing! Sunny Dumpling House has the best dumplings around. You have the staff working hard in the front in plain sight making these amazing delicious dumplings. I've told many friends about this place and they all agree. Our favorites are the pork dumplings and wanton soup. We always get the green beans as well. The green beans have a delicious flavor to them. The price is very fair. On busy days we've waited maybe 30 min but so worth the wait. But we usually just walk in and find a table. Definitely try this place out. You won't regret it.
We took our teenage kids here for Valentine's Day and this was a great experience all around! The food was authentic and delicious! The service was great and we loved the atmosphere. Our kids had to learn how to use chopsticks since they did have not have forks and that made the whole experience even better! We had so much fun. Get the green beans! I could have eaten the whole plate by myself! Thank you, Sunny Dumpling House! We'll be back when we visit Newport again!
You can enjoy dim sum without having to wait in long lines like at Din Tai Fung. A cozy, small, typical Chinese restaurant. I had beef noodle soup and pan-fried dumplings, both delicious with absolutely no gamey taste. At the corner of the opened kitchen, three old ladies were constantly rolling out dumpling wrappers. No wonder they're so fresh.
The food is absolutely amazing. We usually order online for pickup and eat at home. Our favorite are the spicy pork & shrimp wontons and the green beans. We are so thankful to have such a tasty authentic Asian food option in South OC. Such a gem!!

The food is absolutely amazing. We usually order online for pickup and eat at home. Our favorite are the spicy pork & shrimp wontons and the green beans. We are so thankful to have such a tasty authentic Asian food option in South OC. Such a gem!!
This is my most favorite dim sum restaurant so far. I don't wanna wait 2 or 3h for Din tai fung. I didn't have no waiting time. The dumplings are very delicious and flavorful. Also we can buy frozen dumplings and eat at home. It's very good quality!!
It’s nice to have this high quality dim sum place in the neighborhood. Green onion pancakes are thin and crispy which is my favorite. Xiao Long Bao and Pan Fried dumpling are soupy just not as good as I had in Shanghai, but still really good. My friend love all of them and his favorite is spicy wonton. At last, We got one bag of frozen dumplings which is good for quick meal at home or camping.

Busy location so come early and prepare to wait. Great dumplings and the hot & sour soup were delicious. Tastes like DTF without the ridiculous prices and the old ladies make the dumplings upon ordering so don't expect super fast service as these handmade dumplings take time.
I tried the pork XLB (9 pieces for $9.99) and the chive and pork dumplings (12 pieces for $10.99). The XLB were delicious! The skin was thin, and the pork was so flavorful (maybe a little on the salty side though). There was some juice inside, although I would have loved more juice! The chive and pork dumplings were just ok. It’s a no-frills kind of restaurant
If you are only looking for dumpling nothing else (service/atmosphere). This is it. Have not had a better dumpling around here. But needs to improve on certain things. You order the food, and the food delivered on your table. No refill on water or any other service than that. Maybe i will do takeout next time.
Dumplings are delicious. I just moved to this area, and I am so glad to find this place. The dumplings are freshly hand made. Their pan fried dumpling and green onion oil pancake are some of the best, so does spicy wontons. I took one star off because their appetizers seem not well prepared, the smoky chicken leg I ordered was very cold, just out of freezer. I guess they keep those appetizers frozen so they won't go bad if not served, but that is not the correct to serve this dishes.
Dumplings at this place used to be the best. It's very different now. The dumplin shell is so thick. I couldn't finish one order. I feel like eating steam flour more than dumpling.
I would call this an unexpected gem. Got seated and we had to order through a QR code link. Didn't really talk to any server since the just brought the food to us. They got the food to us quickly and it was hot. The food wasn't like spectacular but they sure did not the spot with every dish. They were making fresh dumplings that you can see being made. This place is a go to for dumplings if we have a craving and didn't want to make the drive to our favorite place.
Got the dan dan noodles (3.5/5), fried pork (3.5/5)dumpling, spicy wonton(4/5), string beans(4/5), scallion pancake(4/5). Cucumbers (2.5/5) Highlight was the Scallion pancake. It was crispy and thin unlike the usual thick chewy ones. You order thru a QR code sticker on the table. Servers will bring the food to your table.

Depends on the cook. The Dan Dan is good sometimes, but other times it’s Chili Oil soup. Dumplings and the green beans are pretty consistent, but sometimes the food is overly greasy, especially Dan Dan and Pan Fried Dumplings.
Food was OK but expensive. They have gone completely digital. No servers, you have to scan QR, put your credit card in then order food online. This may be a result of CA new $20 minimum wage for restaurant workers.
The traditional dumplings and potstickers were authentic and worth 4-5 stars. However, the soup dumplings (xiao long bao) were lacking; first, there is not enough soup in the stuffing and the stuffing itself was not well made; the skin was legit though. Similarly, the beef noodle soup was disappointing; the taste was just ok, and they only give 5-6 thinly sliced beef — not authentic! We also got two cold appetizer dishes which I would not recommend; they tasted like something pre-made at a central kitchen.
Usually great! Not sure what happened today, we did come in about 45 minutes before they closed at 2:30 but I never got my food and they were about to close by the time I realized they weren’t going to get it to me so I just had to get it refunded. The staff was very nice, just wish that could have been avoided.

DO NOT recommend! Everything we ordered was definitely below average. Xiaolongbao - served lukewarm, not even freshly steamed. Not how authentic xiaolongbao should taste. String beans - not even trimmed, very hard to eat Cucumber salad: no taste AT ALL Dan Dan noodle and wonton were just okay…
Rude service today from both “waiters”. They aren’t really waiters because you must order via your phone. They forgot one dish and the food took a long time to come out even without the missing dish (which I had already paid for). Cucumber salad was the best thing we had there. The XLB and noodle dishes were not nearly as good as other places around the area. Will not be going back here.
There is a very apparent “pork” smell and taste in all their pork items. We ordered pork dumplings and pork wontons, and they all had that smell. The restaurant didn’t remove the smell completely. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, don’t bother. If you know what I am referring to, you know what I’m saying.
2nd visit: WARNING: they close the kitchen 35 min before closing and if they are busy they will turn you away sooner. Can't even order togo. We drove 20 min a cross town only to be turned away. 1st visit: reminds me of the dumpling soup in China bland broth but yummy dumpling. Blah customer service, you scan a code on the table order and pay from their app & someone brings your food. Love the marinated mushrooms.
We came here at 3pm, 55 mins later we got our dumpling, and it had shrimp in it not what we had ordered. There is only another table with people here. The staff is very impersonal, almost wanting to avoid any contact with you if they can. You ask a question, they point or with very short generic answers. Enjoy your food!
*Edited review after going for second time* The food is actually very good which is why we went for a second time, but sadly the place was filthy both times. It's also way due for a renovation. There's flies flying around, the floors are dirty, the tray with soy sauce and vinegar looks like it's never been cleaned, the waiters walk around with this little "trash can cart" with a filthy trash bag in it, It's not very pleasant seeing that while eating, why not just take the dishes to the back like most restaurants do? And most importantly, my boyfriend got food poisoning this last time we went. It's a bummer since again, the food is really good, but their hygiene standards are way too low :/
This place looked and smelled delicious. Unfortunately, the customer service was lacking. I took my family to eat here because my wife loves dumplings and we were told the wait would be 20 minutes. One hour later, we still weren’t given a table so we had to leave to find somewhere else to eat. Also, numerous people who arrived after us were given a table.
Ordered dumplings from this place and the dumplings come with a strong pungent smell I tried tasting it despite the smell and it has a sour taste. Not the sourness from vinegar, but from unfresh meat. End up spitting out the only bite and trashing the whole order. Can't speak for other things on the menu: dough for dumplings is decent but the filling is no different from trash. Not what you would want to put in your body
We've visited this place several times before, but unfortunately, the food quality has declined during our latest visit. The skin of the xiao long bao was already broken when served, and the soup inside had already leaked out. There was a hole at the bottom of every Xiao long bao. Additionally, the basic setup for enjoying xiao long bao was lacking -- items like ginger, a small plate, and a spoon should be standard and provided without needing to ask. There's definitely room for improvement in both food quality and service.
