Haystack Bar & Bistro Lake Placid Reviews
We had a very great experience with Felipe. He is very professional and welcoming. The food was also delicious. Thank you for the awesome experience!
My family and I had the pleasure of dining here two nights while staying at the Cambria hotel. The food was fresh and delicious. You will not be disappointed, the staff is friendly and helpful. I will be back in October. I can’t wait. The ambience is everything. I had the Maple Glazed Salmon it was delish.
We only went in for a couple of cocktails and a beer. The cocktails were excellent. Very impressive. The ladies working the bar and serving were great. I can only assume the food is good based on the quality of the cocktails.
Best service. Amanda is great!!!

Amanda was FANTASTIC!!
We stayed at the Cambria for 15 days and one of the highlights was the food at Haystack. While I imagine that some of the negative reviews previously were valid, they have a new chef (Chris) who setup a new and excellent menu. Chante, Marko and Tarik are fantastic servers/bartenders and we've been very happy eating here throughout our holiday trip.
The food and atmosphere was great. Shante provided good service and recommended good spots throughout the town to visit.
Shante was an amazing bartender! Our drinks were delicious and she was super friendly !
Felipe is very professional with excellent service. Food presentation is good and tastes great!
Very accommodating to my son‘s celiac diagnosis and need for gluten-free meals…
Our party of 7 went to Haystacks for NYE. We knew it was in the hotel (we weren't guests) and were pleasantly surprised by the food. The restaraunt is in the lobby which we didn't love (would have at least loved a wall to separate from the lobby) but the food was great, especially the Brussel spouts which we highly recommend. For NYE they had a reasonably priced pre fixed menu. We stayed for karaoke and it was a great night. The staff and waiters were awesome as well. We recommend Haystack for dinner! The hotel was very clean and nicely decorated as well.
The Haystack Bar & Bistro is a wonderful addition to Lake Placid! The views are stunning! If you have an option to be out on the patio, it is the place to be! But I’m sure inside will be cozy during the winter, too! The staff was friendly and professional, the drinks were spot-on and the food was great!! As locals, we are happy for this addition to our community and plan to visit regularly!!
We had the absolute best service from Kako (Tom). He was very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. We had the steak and salmon, both were delicious.
We had an excellent stay at Camrbia in Lake Placid! The rooms were comfy and I felt at home! The staff went above and beyond and left a special birthday treat for us! We dined at the bar and dining room both nights! Shanté and Tarik were very attentive. Make sure to end your perfect night with one of Shanté’s espresso martinis or a Cambria Torch!

Best dessert I tried in a good time!
Very friendly staff and great service

We stayed one week at the Cambria Hotel and went to the restaurant 3 times. The food and service were excellent!! I loved the brussels sprouts, but everything was really good.

Great little spot! Outdoor seating and the food was delicious. The wait was a little long for the food and for the check. However maybe because the waiter was alone? Not sure if he was. It got busier as the night went on. We walked in off the street. But will probably stay here on our next lake placid trip. Very nice. The poutine needed a bit more flavor. Little salty but the chicken sandwich was great!

Shante was an outstanding bartender. She gave us excellent local info, and was a delight to talk to.
The restaurant is located in the Cambria Hotel but they do serve non guests as well. There is also a bar. The dining area is pretty nice. The food is pretty good but service can be slow. I had the scallops special. The scallops were nice and soft and not overcooked. I found the whole entree to be a tad bit salty though but it could have just been that night. The next night, I got the roasted chicken which was delicious and everything was properly seasoned. The green beans were great too.

Food was good after a long day of skiing and overpriced, but not a place I need to go back to. It’s a hotel restaurant that’s just in the hotel love so the ambiance is a lot of florescent overhead lights (aka not cozy or even inviting) but service was ok.
We came here to have breakfast. First of all, the restaurant is in the main lobby of the hotel which feels like there are million of people there waiting to check in or check out. Second of all, the service was terrible. We were waiting for 30 minutes to be served and then another 40-45 minutes for the food. Nobody was offering us water or coffee refills, but At least food was good. In general not a good experience :(

Located in a hotel lobby, this restaurant feels more like a common area — you can smell the pool chlorine and kids in swimsuits are constantly walking by. Service was extremely slow, the food was bland with no salt and overpriced for what you get, and the cocktails weren’t worth the money. If you have other options, go anywhere else.
Currently a guest at Cambria. Came back from a long day hiking and being in town. Specifically chose not to go to the main strip restaurants because I wanted to try it here. Got back to the hotel at 8:15/8:30. Main desk tells me that it’s open and serving until 10. Google listing states that the restaurants serves until 10. I come back after getting settled at 9:10 and the hostess tells me they’re closed. I emphasized that the front desk said they were open and she just sort of rolled her eyes and frustratingly said “yeah I don’t know why they’re even saying that, but sorry we’re closed”. Got a similar response/ was shut down from the bartender too. Had to go out driving around Lake Placid at 9:30 at night trying to find something other than McDonalds on my last night of vacation. Super disappointing and a crappy way to end my time here. Almost seemed like the servers/kitchen just wanted to leave early (why would a place close at 10 on Friday and 9 on Saturday?). It wasn’t even like I came in close to the listed closing time either. It was 10 after 9. Super unprofessional (and surprised that such a large chain hotel would let that happen too). Happy that I didn’t waste my money here earlier in the week and definitely won’t be coming back eat for future trips. If this is a usual occurrence, I wonder how many other hotel guests they drove away by doing that.
Buffet has limited options Also buffet its not served everyday. A-la-cart takes forever to come.

Sat at a table for 40 minutes, server only got our drink order and never asked if we wanted food. Completely unacceptable considering there was 3 servers and about 2 tables.
