Dos Islas Las Varas Reviews
These fajitas just hit the spot. So so good. Got the mixed meat (chicken, beef, shrimp) enough food to share for 2 and take home
The food was absolutely delicious — every dish tasted fresh and full of flavor. The ceviche was perfectly seasoned, the shrimp tacos were packed with juicy, tender shrimp, and the aguachile had just the right amount of spice to wake up your taste buds. You can really tell they use high-quality ingredients and put care into each plate.
Oh my goodness! My son and I ordered your amazing and delicious fish tacos earlier today to take home and they were exceptional and we highly recommend Las Islas in Woodburn. We also got a side of refried beans which was so delicious! If there was a way we could give you 10 stars, we would! Thank you!
First impression was that it was just a typical Mexican restaurant specializing in seafood, I couldn’t have been more wrong; there was nothing typical about it! As it was my first visit, I chose to evaluate it based on my standard order for the typical Mexican restaurant: side of guacamole as an appetizer and combination fajitas for an entrée. I was blown away with the fresh, vibrant, exciting flavor of the guacamole, all fresh ingredients, with a burst of lime flavor. The fajitas especiales blew me away!! They happily obliged my request to cook the veggies longer and the seasoning was perfect!!
Came in to check out the menu since we were walking the shops. Decided to try the fish and shrimp tacos. They are sold individually but the price for what you get is actually pretty spot on. It was two full size tortillas filled with all the fixin’s. Overall the flavor was amazing. Chips and salsa were on point. Even the lemonade did not have the tap water taste that chain restaurants give you. Service was very good. The young lady made sure to keep her eye on us in case we needed anything and she brought me my refill before I finished my first drink which was great. Will definitely be coming back for another meal soon! P.S. they do not have any birria like the sign on the window advertised but I didn’t mind once I tried the tacos. 9/10 would recommend.
This place runs well when there’s not a lot of people. I came in with a friend and we both got greeted immediately. They offered our drinks and had us order as soon as we were ready. The girl checked on us often to see how we were doing. I really wish I got this service during the weekend. Btw, BEST shrimp tacos!!!! I will add another pic from another place where I order shrimp tacos and I just got three little shrimps.
This is place is great. If you like seafood and Mexican you're in luck. We ordered the mejilliones, and two fish tacos. Both were fresh and great portions. Also the service was great.
Friendly, attentive service. Interesting modern contemporary decor (as opposed to something historical and "authentico" from a hundred years ago). We stopped for lunch. We were headed to Subway next door, but I suggested trying Las Islas instead. We ordered the fish and shrimp tacos: two of each and shared. It was too early for a bigger meal. Very good. The tortillas even had their own star quality! We will go again.
Have been twice & ordered out another time; service has been good overall. Ok at worst. The Micheladas (w/Negra Modelo) have been delicious. The Cantarito was disappointing. Food-wise, the Tostadas de Ceviche are plentiful, but have gotten the shrimp lacking flavor. The Camarones Zarandeados were good as were the Tacos de Asada. The place is clean and set up for karaoke nights (Friday, maybe Saturday too?) with at least 3 tv screens and speakers.
The food is good, they charge for salsa which no place does but it does taste good. The kareoke tho, the music is so loud the place is not big the atmosphere with kareoke is good but no reason to have the volume so loud. Everytime I go it’s nice but can’t hear me or my family speak and families around are quiet cause u have to shout to be able to speak over the volume. I don’t know how they don’t see the people not fully enjoying and still won’t turn it down a bit. The food is good won’t complain about that and mostly about that. I stop going because going out to eat with family is to talk to them but can’t unless you shout. Please turn it down a bit the kareoke is great the volume is the issue. Food is great.
I have been here quite a few times. The last two times I have been here the service has been slow. We got here at 5:10ish pm on a Sunday. The right side of the place was full, so we waited and waited to be seated, and not a single person acknowledged us. We saw an empty table and helped ourselves. 15 minutes the menu was dropped off at our table. No water, no chips, salsa, etc. Another 10-15 min went by and someone came to take our order. We order drinks, and food at once. We asked for chips, salsa, and water, we were told they were out of chips and salsa. These same things happened over and over as customers arrived. People waited for a long time. Some waited and some left. Those who decided to stay experienced the same wait we did. At around 7pm my friend and I were ready to go. We asked for to go boxes. 2 to go boxes were dropped off along with the water that we requested when we arrived. BTW, the only bathrooms working were the women bathroom and it was out of soap and paper towels. Overall not a good experience.
Literally waited almost an hour for our food and I get it, most places are short staffed, but it’s not the waiting that I minded. A few girls working there seemed like they hate their job and it showed in their service, literally just semi threw the food on our table… but over all the food was pretty good.
the guy that served us needs better Customer service skills..this place is not a regular mexican restaurant so if your looking for authentic Mexican food this place is not and they serve a bunch of sea food but if you like sea food it might be good im not sure but what we got the food wasn't good at all
Wife ordered aguachile rojo was charged $34.67 online menu said it was $27.99 menu In the restaurant said $31.99 which price is correct to top it off we only got about 11 shrimps I seen a previous comment from the owner that the order comes with 20 shrimps what is going on with the prices and the amount of shrimps for this overpriced order???
Came in on a Saturday evening to dine in with my family . Was excited to try this place because of the name Islas , I thought it would live up to the name but I was throughly disappointed . My daughter ordered the $27 salmon plate which clearly on the photo showed came with avocado, when I asked the manager about it he responded with “it’s my first day I’m not sure” , so I asked him to go in the kitchen and figure it out because the menu clearly shows the plate with avocado, then comes the waitress and in a very short and careless manner says “well the photo is just the illustration but it doesn’t actually come with avocado” I decided to not escalate and decided this review hoping owner/s see it and train/educate their staff better and in addition update their menus to avoid confusing future clients . the manager is certainly not trained for such position and the waitress could have made things right and avoided a 1 star review.
I order to go two fish tacos and one burrito and shrimp with rice. The shrimp with rice was ok no that crazy to go and order it again. The taco was tasteless no seasoning there after taste on the taco. The burrito, old fries and dry, the chicken was also dry not tender and juicy and there was no salad in there burritos, also the amount of chicken was less than the first visit. No way of come back again.
My husband ordered aguachiles and this is what he came home with!! He got off work picked up his order when we opened the bag this is what we got ! This order was untouched! I opened the box to take a picture and closed it right back up and took it over. After calling them for a refund! No one wants to pay 27.99 for this !
