Nicely's Lee Vining Reviews
Great little 50’s style diner! Good food at good prices. The chicken fried steak was spot on! Got to try the cinnamon roll. They even have bar in the back!
Stopped in for breakfast. Service was excellent. The house made sausage is yummy. One of the better country steaks we've had. Definitely the choice for breakfast. There also the Sierra Room. Pool table, full bar and currently all decked out for Halloween.
For the fact this is clearly a front, they did well. Food was calories in, and they are new so I give a lot of grace on the fact they looked like they were running a restaurant. Service was great but worrisome. The cherry pie looked a little tragic, but again they're trying to make it look like it works. Definitely stop in to see if you're up for for this experience. Pro Tip: if you use the restroom you'll find the hidden bar down the hallway.
Home-made yumminess in a busy, homey diner atmosphere in the middle of nowhere. Chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes and gravy. Heck yeah! While visiting Yosemite, I took a side trip to spend the night in Lee Vining for a visit to Mono Lake. A very cool little town on a very cool and unique lake. Very glad I took the time to come here. Not cheap, but worth it.
This is like that older great place you have gone to for twenty years. It's always right. The staff is like friends. Loved it. Wish they had one near us. Wife has amazing chicken. Wow it was great. I had fish and chips. Very very good. The how much did we pay is right between. Hers was a special . Just under $20, and what she wanted. Mine was $21. Prices were good especially for what we received. Always stop here folks.
UNREAL GEM!!! We were staying across the street at another gem (Yosemite Gateway) and the first night, after trekking up and down from the southern part of the park, we were all VERY hungry!!! Thankfully this oasis popped up and we ALL loved the food!!! The prices were right and the atmosphere was old school diner!!! We LOVED this place so much that we went back the second night of our stay. Don't go anywhere else because the selections are vast, the prices are right and the owner and staff go above and beyond to make it memorable!!!
Had a great experience at Nicely's Restaurant. The service was friendly and attentive, and the overall environment was warm and welcoming. The taco salad was a bit on the bland side for my taste, but the lasagna more than made up for it—delicious and hearty! Definitely a solid spot to stop for a meal.
We're in Lee Vining for 3 days and had dinner at Nicely's. I had their Chicken Breast with Teriyaki Sauce and thought it was very good! My in-laws both had the Fish N Chips and they thought it was pretty good except the veggies were cold. My husband had their enormous Chef Salad and he said it was pretty darn good even though he couldn't finish it lol! The place has a 50's feel to it, it's nostalgic and cute. Overall had a nice dinner.
We had our breakfast here after 2 hours driving from Yosemite National Park. My husband had pancake sandwiches with sausage and one egg. I had the Nicely's Breakfast Burrito which was a Bacon, 2 Scrambled Eggs, Hash Browns and Cheddar Cheese Wrapped in a Flour Tortilla. They came out quick and were great portions. The pancakes were very fluffy and tasty. If the sausage was a bit more, better. The burrito was very tasty, good! My coffee was quite blank but my husband’s chocolate was good. Price reasonable and friendly service. Recommend.
Support family owned, local businesses! Diner feel, nice variety of dishes. Ordered the cheeseburger with bacon, house salad & the deep dish apple pie. Thousandth island dressing was delish, and their apple pie, not sweet and topped with ice cream. 3.5 % charge for use of cards, cash is king. Parking lot or street parking.
Want to know what diners were like in the 70s? This has that atmosphere, a throwback to the good old days 😋. The menu is what you expect of a diner, good old fashioned American comfort food: hamburgers, sandwiches, fried chicken. But there are some updates and more vegetarian options. Still Lee Vining is about as far as you can get from the snazzy metros of California, so don't expect farm to table here. We had breakfast here as well. The portions are gigantic. We didn't have to eat lunch that day. Pretty standard American breakfast. Filling and not fancy. Super nice service matching the name. And after a great day of skiing, hiking, climbing, or a few days camping or backpacking, the comfort food will fill your stomach nicely! 😀
Was hoping they served breakfast late but they didn't. It took a bit for our orders to be taken even though the place wasn't that full. Food didn't take too long to come out though. Chicken noodle soup lacked flavor but the chicken sandwich with mushrooms and cheese was very good,. The fries were just ok as were the rest of the entrees. The bread pudding also lacked flavor and sadly the apple pie was a disappointment. The only good thing about it was the vanilla ice cream on it. Pie had no good flavor. Bread pudding also needed more tastiness. We ordered a sundae but didn't get it and want added to order. Our waiter didn't come by too often.
Service was amazing, very fun atmosphere, but the food left little to be desired. If you stop here, definitely just stick to something simple like a burger. The onion rings we had were delicious, but the salad and chicken fried steak gave my boyfriend and I tummy troubles the next day...if you know what I mean. If you're craving something sweet, stick with a slice of traditional pie and don't feel adventurous getting the deep dish version like I did. It was basically a giant ladle full of hot, canned pie filling topped with a communion type wafer of pie crust. Very odd, and disappointing. Definitely worth a try though...just pick something very common and safe to eat.
We recently had the misfortune of dining in for breakfast at this establishment after a lengthy drive to Lake Tahoe. Unfortunately, our experience was thoroughly disappointing. The presentation of my mother's and husband's meals resembled undercooked sausage. Regrettably, my mother subsequently fell ill with food poisoning. I would strongly advise against patronizing this restaurant. Due to embarrassment, we hesitated to request that the waitress take the dishes back or accommodate changes to our order, prompting my mother and husband to discontinue eating and depart the premises after only a few bites.
